Nov, Dec, Jan, Update SimLock - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

Hello my friends!
I haven't been here on the Essential Phone threads in a while and was wondering if the 2018 Nov, Dec, 2019 Jan, updates re-lock sim? I unlocked the "SimLock" back when Essential sent a trigger in an prior update. I haven't updated since the few latest updates and was wondering if anyone had any sim re-lock issues after updating.
Thanks in advance...

I have an T-Mobile variant on T-Mobile's network.

Excuse me if wrong, I think threre is the Sprint variant and the unlocked variant? I'm thinking maybe you have the Sprint Variant? I'm am fairly confident that if I am wrong and there is a Verizon variant that it would be unlocked anyway. I believe that the Pixel 3 is the first phone in years to be sim locked to Verizon. I don't know if this is helpful information for you or not ? IDK but maybe it will help give a more complete picture? Good luck and sorry I can't help out more.

Thanks, definitely my mistake, it's definitely a Sprint, unlocked. But even though it's unlocked there was an issue with sim lock and I would like to know if anyone who's updated to Jan, 2019 without SimLock issues. No worries! Thank you friend for helping out.

I have never had this problem because my mine is the unlocked version but I think it's pretty easy to fix if it does happen. Have you seen this?

Thanks my friend. I actually had to go the this very procedure that you actually recommended during I believe the April update of 2018. I was wondering if the January, 2019 update figured out how to fix exploit to get around the old SIM unlock procedure that you just recommended. Good news, I updated to the January, 2019 update without any issues! Thanks for bringing this to my attention because I forgot to update the post that I figured it out. Have a great day friend.

I have a couple questions. 1, I got my unlock code from T-Mo today. If I unlocked it just by popping in a cingular sim and entering the code, does that take care of the cid lock as well? Also, will the RUU released be compatible with the Wing? And lastly, forgive me for this as I stopped using my MDA about 9 months ago and have been using a blackberry until I got my wing, but how do I know which version of WM6 I have installed on my phone. I'm guessing that the latest HTC release will most likely be a newer build, hencewhy I am wondering about installing the newer OS (well, that and removing all the extra T-Mo crap and cooking my own rom). Sorry guys, not tryin' to beat a dead horse, just tryin' to get some clarification.

Sim unlock doesnt CID unlock the phone. Not sure which RUU u talkin bout. Regarding the OS version go to Start->Settings->SystemTab->About. Will state the OS version and aku after the build.

lol Thanks. I actually found the "about" the moment after I posted. As for the RUU, I was under the impression that when HTC releases the WM6 upgrade, it'd have a new loader and/or cid unlock the phone. But, you know what they say about assumptions.

Work on Tmobile?

Hey Folk,
Will the Sprint variant of the HTC 10 work on tmobile? Thanks in advance!
I am also curious about this!
It will need to be modified, unlocked bootloader, TWRP and S-off. Most likely you won't see a thread for this as the US Unlocked version can work on T-mobile

Hey Schmeggy, can you point me to the modification part? I think all the other parts are straightforward, but don't know what you mean by modified.

Hi bro, i have unlocked my 626s in the past with this seller and so i asked him about my HTC 10 half week ago. He told me that he can but that the data would not work and i accepted for 35.00 (phone will be used overseas and they don't care too much about data) checked my SIM with T-Mobile and yes, voice and messages working great but no data. He said he was working to fix it or something (i don't really care now because phone will be in another country on a few days lol)
Didn't find the listing that i bought but find a similar one, but ask him to see if he can help you.

Is this the Sprint LG V20 root process?

I'm just wondering because I see a big bounty for it on here, and no links to it, but a quick google search popped this up and I'm reluctant to try it until it's been confirmed..
Thanks..

Looks like they are just prepared for when we can unlock the Sprint bootloader. The link they have there takes you to the TMobile directions to unlock bootloader, which unfortunately doesn't work.

This link is premature clickbait.
The only devices with unlockable bootloaders are TMo and US996. All others are presently unrooted, although the community such as it is, is working on it.

So sprint will unlock the bootloader if you request it?
Also my phone keeps trying to make me do an ota, I keep saying later because it's hard enough trying to figure it out now, do you know what the latest update is about or where I can read about it?

I meant sim carrier unlock. The s7 bootloader is locked down pretty tight. There is an update to b8.

Where and how do I start my rom installation process?

I have an LG V20, thats the sprint version. I'm on the March 1st 2018 security patch. Id like to install a custom rom to increase game performance, but i have no clue where to start. Can someone give me an idea what to look for? Any good roms?

You don't. Thank Sprint for making the LS997 the most locked down variant and unrootable past the very old version ZV7 with a negligible chance of ever becoming rootable again.
For all the other v20 variants, which are still rootable, there are several guides for different variants, just search xda for the thread for your variant.

It's probably legit but the key is in the first step, you have to unlock the bootloader. Currently there is no way to do that therefore it's a no go.

No, their guide on unlocking the bootloader is wrong and won't work on any v20. It's a joke, they took the generic steps and assumed they worked.
