My fingerprint sensor stopped working after I dropped the phone (in Spigen case - nothing broke).
There no even imprint option in settings as it was before.
Is it dead? There is a way to check it without opening the phone?
So, I removed the back cover and saw that connector's assembly to the mother board broken. No way to fix it without replacing the motherboard.
Decided to live without fingerprint.
P.s. with scalpel the remove of the back cover is pretty easy.

Couple of days ago I received a new Qtek 9100 cover, and wanted to use that to replace my damaged T-Mobile MDA Vario cover. Got all tools at hand, so I started off disassembling the entire housing.
You really need to remove ->everything<- from the device in order to replace this front cover, so moved everything over to the new front-cover, and re-assembled everything.
Device boots up nice and smooth, though the touchscreen didn't seem to work. Hmm, that's odd... So, I disassembled everything again, checked whether the connection might be loose or anything, re-assembled again, and still no functioning touchscreen.
Now, I tried to use my keyboard, to see whether that worked. It seemed to work, though when tring to enter my SIM PIN, some of the keys didn't seem to work. I found out about 10 keys didn't work.
I decided to go back to the original front-cover, and voilá, the touchscreen worked again. The keyboard didn't though. Still about 10 keys not working.
Probably I damaged the Keyboard FPC cable, eventhough I can't see any damage to it.
Is there a way to fix this, or a way to obtain a new/working FPC?
The reason why the touchpad didn't work is probably because of the missing foam-strips surrounding the touchpad in the front-cover. Any idea where I can buy such thin foam-strips?
That's all for now I would have liked it to be a little easier changing covers, that's for sure.
No-one? I've tried several suplliers and repair-centers allready, but I guess I should harvest it from a broken one...
Hi
After getting my usb charging block repaired privately as T Mobile HTC refused to do it under warranty saying a ' broken usb charging block voids the warranty' - go figure, the vibration on the phone is not working anymore.
Does anyone know how this can be fixed?
Another thanks to jwchips for his help previously.

Flex cable might be broken, the short little connector from the motor might be broken or not connected properly... this not recommended but try tapping your phone against your palm see if that would get the motor going... or it just have a wire laid against it when put cover on, preventing motor from turn
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
task29, wipe all cashes & use more stable ROM
Thanks for the replies.
I noticed today that my camera lens cover was cracked, so I decided to open up my phone. I have the torx screw drivers but no plastic opening device for the case.
What I used was a credit card type of plastic card, which worked great at prying apart the phone case without scratching or damaging it.
I then knocked out all the cracked glass from the camera cover. This will be replaced when I order replacement off of ebay. I then placed the battery back in and turned phone on. The vibrator worked, so that meant something on the case was stopping it from working. I discovered that the LED plastic lens cover was not seated properly in the case. So pushed this back in and refitted the case and battery. Turned phone on and vibrator works just fine now. So I guess it was the fault of the person who repaired my mini usb socket but they would not admit it!
Hey guys,
My GPS can't get a fix. It had this when I bought it, but even with another GPS board it can't connect. This is what I did:
So my old HD2's touchscreen and buttons stopped working... They were already replaced by the previous owner.
I bought an old bricked HD2 (So I could put my working mainboard in there) and disassembled the phone. It wasn't as hard as I had expected, but the iFixit guide is excellent. So taking that one apart was fairly easy. I logged every part, putting it in a seperate bin.
Taking my old phone apart was a pain in the rear. The other guy who replaced it used hot glue to hold the LCD to the midframe, and some gnarly sticky tape to hold the midframe to the rear shell . As I used a hair dryer and a suction cup to remove the outer shell, I pulled out the LCD + digitizer instead of the entire inner phone. I was like WTF?. (Yes I removed all the screws)
But eventually I managed to take it apart. I removed the mainboard without damage. Because I wasn't sure about the parts in my phone, I just used everything from of the bricked phone. The flex cable, camera, BT coaxial cable, GPS board and the white GPS cable. Even the screws and the rear shell. The only thing I used from my phone was the mainboard. Nothing else!
But even with all the new surplus parts it can't get a fix! I run Hyperdroid 5.8, I used the Leo GPS injector. Is this due to Android or is the problem on the mainboard? Because I don't have a clue where I should look now.
I'd be very pleased if I could fix it! I want to go geocaching with it!
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Everything else just works just excellent. Bluetooth, cellphone, WiFi, vibrating, speaker, flash, etc.
After Flashing WinMo 6.5 and letting it sit 30 minutes outside, it finally got a fix... Hell yeah!
How can the title be changed to [RESOLVED]?
It finally got a fix! See edit #2
I broke the screen of my X Compact and replaced it myself. I used a replacement where screen and frame were already glued together. However, now the fingerprint reader is not working anymore. The phone seems like there is no fingerprint reader installed at all. The system (settings and diagnosis app) does not even give me the menus related to the fingerprint reader. Other apps also do not see it. The power button however works as expected. Therefore my questions to you fellow X Compact owners:
Did anyone else replace the screen successfully?
Or did anyone else have the same problem?
Did anyone replace the fingerprint reader successfully?
Thank you for your help!
P.S.: Besides this issue, the phone is very easy to open and to replace parts, except for the battery. Sony used very little glue, and many components can be replaced seperately. The only problem is that the battery is glued to the main board, which could be a problem when one eventually has to replace the battery...
You can still replace the battery fairly easily, though it is a bit hard to get off.
Did your replacement come with the button flex cable or did you use yours? The connectors and such are all well? This never happened to me on the z5c, which I think is very similar to the X compact. You didn't change anything in the software?

thank you for your answer! I kept the fingerprint reader, I just migrated it from the old frame to the new one. I kept all the flexcables too. The button itself is working, just the finger print part is not. The connector should be well, I re-opened it and checked. No software change.
Did you ever replace a fingerprint reader? Is there hardware verification?
Please forgive this annoying question, but I recently dropped my K20 (and myself) in seawater in a boating "accident" and, obviously, the phone stoped working immediatelly. Opened it, dryed it, cleaned it with IPA, to no avail.
Then, after 10 days, it came back to life. The only thing not working was the FP sensor. So I bought a new one, but the phone still doesn't recognize it. I remember a problem with some phone in the past that when the FP sensor was replaced, it would not recognize it before resetting some partition or something. Does anyone know anything about it? Maybe the new sensor is busted as well, or the connector from the bottom PCB to the upper one is damaged, I know, but any information would be appreciated.
