In Ex Kernel Manager theres a page that has several temp sensors. I found this online:
https://source.codeaurora.org/quic/...s/qcom/msm8996.dtsi?h=LA.HB.1.3.1_rb1.8#n2496
But all i can tell is that sensor 15 is the gpu, anyone know which is the cpu?
4,6,9, and 11. Choosing any one is fine.
cool thx ;p

Hello Everyone;
I have a Droid X running stock ROM version 2.2 I have rooted to remove bloatware but have not done much else. I am interested in using setcpu but do not want to do so unless I can monitor CPU temp. I am wondering where to find the kernel for this, what is it called, and how do I install it step-by-step.
Sorry if this has already been answered but I have been searching for quite some time and can not seem to find the answer.
Thanks For the help.
So far, we are stuck on the stock Moto Kernel. Although, if you are a fan of the power control widget, you can install Widgetsoid from the market.
It allows you to make a widget by selecting which buttons or information you want it to show. One option is temperature, although I'm not sure where the temp sensor is, may be CPU, may be Batt... just don't know.
Personally, I use Droid Overclock for my overclocking needs, and the widget displays the temperature.
Help
I have found in other threads that there is apparently a kernel that can be installed (over top of the existing kernel? not sure if that's exactly right) that allows the droid x to give readings of the CPU temp. It's my understanding that with stock rom and kernel you can only read battery temp but that a cpu temp sensor does exist its just a matter of accessing its readings.
That being said I have found only references to this being possible with no explanation of how to do it or where to obtain the needed files for the operation.
Reality of it is we cannot install another kernel. We are stuck, I don't really know kernels that well, but perhaps someone could write a kernel module similar to how overclocking is achieved? Everything I'm seeing is original droid, since they have it already figured out for the OMAP processors, it may just be a simple port, but that would be for someone more versed to say.
Perhaps you should change the title of the thread tho, to something like "Enable Droid X CPU temp?" just to get the right people looking at it.
As of now the kernel cannot be changed due to the locked bootloader. Progress is being made, but it is not there yet. If you want more detailed information on the project, contact @aliasxerog on twitter
I think that don't need setCPU (or CPU master Pro)
Because I installed cpu spy, it show cpu working at 312MHz is 80% and 832MHz is 11%
May be it's enough smart to exchange between frequency chip max and min.
First of all.... Please dont create question threads in dev section..
Read this thread Questions should not go here
To answer your question... set cpu and cpu spy are apps made for 2 different purposes.. cpu spy gives statistics or info on whats going on cpu... that too on software side..
Set cpu is an app to "set" governors/io schedulers/ cpu freq etc... also it provides info and info is related to hardware side..
So back to thread title.. yes set cpu or any other app which might do same actions as set cpu is needed for any device including duos only when you have a custom kernel which has many features to apply..
I hope this answers your question.. please do create threads in Q & A section for this.. i will request The-Captain to move this thread..
hit thanks button! If above post helps you..

First, thank to nitubhaskar!
Sorry for this,
I've never install setCPU or CPU master,
I only install CPU spy and it's show me that performance. I think my phone auto exchange it (don't need install other app to overclock CPU)
Or maybe that app is installed in kernel?

No apps are installed on kernel...
If you use no frills cpu (free) or set cpu(paid) from play store.. you will get options to use full features of custom kernel.. but without these apps also you can use custom kernel. You wont be use full features.. thats all... so its your choice.. i suggest install no frill cpu then use it and see..

hi. i'd like to monitorize cpu temp using cooltool, but i don't know where the thermal file is situated, anyone ?

Hi! I seen post like this before but I wanted to know why my phone (ALE-L21) have only 4 cores? I tried to modify CORE File in system , but I Failed! Can anyone tell me is there solution? Flashable Zip file? .img file?
In rest or low CPU usage 4 cores are offline for battery save
1. Use System Panel 2 to check core usage(it will show all cores doing somethin). Not 100% sure does it show correct info, but it feels like it does. (No idea how to test if info is correct)
2. Go to system/app/HwPowerGenieEngine3/ and rename HwPowerGenieEngine3.apk to something like HwPowerGenieEngine3.apko --> then reboot.
These step seem to have some effect for all cores to work. Also I think ESAL kernel has slight increase for amount of cores used.

I used CPU burner to see changes but only on SystemMotitor2 i saw changes! On other apps nothing changed
Kennel Auditor maybe

In AnTuTu benchmark i see this all cores have % but they are sleep! In Kernel Auditor, they are offline

Yeah, I think you can enable them in Kernel Auditor though

They Automatically Goes offline! Maybe hotplug switch's them off?
I think they work just when they are needed, such when streaming videos or doing something heavy
The manufacturer won't put 8 cores if they will disable 4 of them permanently
Maybe we can't observe them because the are controlled in behavior lower than ART
i think they are just fake..
I need custom Kernel, Then i will get them to work!

Bro, even if i have 200 threads via CPU burner, they don't work! I have 100% Load but they stay offline
Hey guys,
I's like to start a thread on playing FFXV: Pocket Edition on the shield tablet (I have the OG). I don't see much about it online and I hope someone has gotten somewhere with it.
What I've done:
* Used Device Faker Xposed module to download app
* Used GL Tools to spoof CPU/GPU to Qualcomm to get me through intro videos
The game seems to crash when gameplay starts no matter what I do. I've tried so many GL Tools configs it's crazy, I'm on 5.3 update I believe. If anyone has been able to make this happen, please let me know.
Thanks.
Edit: OK so I got in game, not sure what worked.
GL Tools:
-Checked fake GPU
-Checked fake CPU
-Used Adreno 540 Template
-Checked box for Adreno driver hack
Rebooted
Game:
-Textures set to Medium
-Res to standard
-Frame rate to 30
I raised all the gfx options once I got in game, but I'll reboot and experiment more later.
