No Quick Switch Adapter - Google Pixel 2 XL Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello, I just purchased a used Pixel 2XL and it didn't come with a Quick Switch Adapter. Can a USB C to micro USB cord be used the same way to connect my S7 Edge to my P2XL so I can transfer my data? I see those are available on Amazon and am not sure where to buy original P2XL access.

Acer A110 or Nexus 7 HELP

Until today I was waiting in anticipation of the Nexus 7 32GB, but just heard Acer are releasing the A110 7" tablet on 30th of October. It is specified as having a MiscoSD card slot, MICRO USB, MICRO HDMI 8GB on board, and with the all important Tegra 3.
Help me, what to do.? What will have better build quality?, support and be thinner in size?

I just read something on it it doesn't have as good screen resolution looks about it

Display will be much better on nexus 7. And with Google planning Nexus 7 32 GB for around same price as 16 GB one, I would always go for N7 32 GB one. You would always get the latest updates first on Nexus and with OTG storage you dont have to worry about lack of microsd card slot.
nexus 7 will be mine suggestion to you...its great device.go for a 32gb model when it comes.you will be a happy guy with your device for a long time
Like what others said, unless HDMI is a must for you.
Does anyone know if I can connect the Nexus 7 to my TV via a MHL adapter?
And
Do I have to root the Nexus 7 to use OTG usb?
Many thanks

Nexus 7 is ok. All I don't like is the display quality which looks washed out. Aside from that I am very happy with it.
16GB is fine.
You can always buy a USB OTG adapter for the Nexus 7 which is available for 5 dollars maybe. Then you can attach every external hard drive you want...
Or you could buy a Seagate Satellite External Hard Drive, which uses Wifi and has 6 hours battery life I believe.
My Nexus 7 display is not very bright outside, I think my Google Nexus is much better, which uses AMOLED. I think the acer will be around the same for this.
Can connect the Nexus 7 to my TV via a MHL adapter?
Many thanks
If im not wrong iv read that its not possible to use mhl on the nexus7

LG Nexus 4 - Do you have to buy wireless charging part seperately?

Do you have to buy wireless charging part seprately?
Looking to buy Nexus 4, there is already one bad thing about the phone - storage. If it doesn't come with wireless charging part, it will make me choose between note 2 and this.. which I'm thinking note 2 might be better, besides the fact that its pure android, Google wallet, better camera, 4.7 screen... note 2 has multi tasking. Which will be nice. But a little big.

I guess you will have to buy it seperate but i don´t think multitasking should be a reason to buy the Galaxy Note 2 because im pretty sure we are going to get it as mod on our nexus.
I was just saying that was one of the nicer features. I didnt feel like giving a full summary on both phones.
But it is between those two.

According to 3G.co.uk, the Nexus 4 actually comes with a wireless charging mat. Yayyyyyyy -
http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/Oct2012/google-nexus-4-how-does-it-compare-to-the-iPhone-5-Galaxy-S3.html
" One advantage the Nexus 4 has over its major rivals is support for wireless charging, which isn't supported on the iPhone 5 or the Galaxy SIII. A wireless charging mat is included in the retail box , so you don't event have to buy an extra accessory to use the feature."
But whether they know, or just guessing - I don't know.

I won't get my hopes up.
It doesn't mention anything about a mat in the play store:
What's In The Box
Nexus 4 phone
USB sync/charge cable
AC Adapter and cable
SIM ejection tool
Safety and Warranty information
Quick start guide
I think it is seperate
I think from the Verge's hands on video it sounds like it will be a separate accessory you purchase. Since the price is already decently priced I don't think Google will include the charge orb for free.

Charging mat thing sounds cooler to me.
I doubt it will come with the mat. However, it would be very nice, since they use a standardized wireless charging method.
They didn't even give basic headphone so no for the wireless charger

For Three in Denmark (And i think Sweden as well) the Wireless Charging is listed as an "extra bonus" for those preordering, it has a value of 599DKK (79€) and will be sent in december.
So it's definitely an accessory not part of the retail bundling, but it may be that the Wireless Charger is included in non-google play preorders to offset the issue of the device being much cheaper on the Play Store.

Between 2 tablets

Im between 2 tablets, Nexus 7 or Galaxy Tab 2. The Tab 2 is a little cheaper.
Just looking for something for mostly browsing and email since I built my own PC and sold my laptop Im thinking about getting a Tablet.
Well I'd say get the N7, but I can't deny that I'm being biased. Since it is for simple tasks, the N7 should be a good buy. Also, I always found the N7 to be more aesthetically pleasing to the other tablets in the market. Good luck!

I definitely vote for the Nexus 7. The only advantage I see to the Galaxy Tab 2 is a microSD slot, but I've
earned to get by with cloud storage. It rarely leaves the house so it's always connected to Wifi.
My sister has the tab 2, I have a nexus 7. Using both the nexus 7 is a lot better. Newer version of android, MUCH nicer screen, faster, more fluid. Unless you desperately need an SD card slot (if a 32 GB isn't enough for you) then go for the nexus. The prices are pretty similar last I checked, tab 2 being slightly cheaper. Seriously spend a little tiny bit more cos you won't be disappointed with the nexus

With an OTG cable, you can use a external USB stick. So who really needs a SD card slot?

Well yes and that's what I use but SD cards are usually easier to deal with especially on the move. Otg needs root and stuff as well. It can get complicated and messy with cables etc if you are actually on the go. It depends on the person, and sd cards may work better for him/her (Ive had far too many fail to trust them)
So yeah. (BTW OP you won't be disappointed with a Nexus)

If you use the Stickmount app, then there is no need to root the N7. Note that in my post I used the word "really". Sure, an SD card slot can be a little more convient, but when you consider that the extra storage space isn't needed all that often, it isn't *really* a big deal. And a 4" OTG cable isn't *really* all that messy. It certainly wouldn't influence my choice of device.

MicroUSB card reader and USB are also common now. Which gives you realise of using an extra cable(OTG cable).

30 Pin Connector BS

given that the note 8 is pretty much just a shrunken down galaxy note 10.1 (and so is the g note 2) it pretty much proves that the 30 pin connector the gn10.1 an all the other galaxy tablets use is just a big money grab. there isn't a faster charge rate with the 30 pin vs the mUSB nor is transferring files any faster. it's possible that in the future the 30 pin will have some benefits (i doubt it since usb 3.0 is pretty dang nice), but for now mUSB cables are working pretty fine. i've never had a transfer saturate the USB 2.0 cable anyways.
for ref, my gn10.1 generally charged ~1600mAh and transferred files around 10MB/s through usb 2.0, same as my gn8, gn2 and s4.
The Note 8.0 is an over grown Note 2.0
The Note 10.1 is an overgrown Note 1.0
30 pin is dead, long live micro usb. The NEW tab 3s also use Micro USB.
30 pin was unreliable at anything more than 3 feet. Try finding a good 5 foot one for sync and charge at the same time.

If you reread the OP you will "hopefully" see that he is referring to the Note 10.0 and previous Samsung Tablets that had the 30 pin connector.
He is basically saying ( a month ago ) what everyone knew all along, that proprietary connectors are used mainly to get you to buy the same companies accessories. Cables, Docks ext.
Must say the micro usb connection was the thing that swayed me to sell my Note 10.1 and replace it with the Note 8.0. I use the 8 much more since its smaller and easier to carry around too.

I was actually on the verge of buying another 10.1 but decided to see what comes next. I hope it's gonna use musb and USB 3.0 since it'll charge faster via USB then. until those details pop up I'll hold on to the spare 30 pins I have.
I just bought a sero 7 pro and it's about the same size as the gn8. I haven't had a 7 in tablet in a while and iI'm surprised how usable they've become in the last 2 years. I also got my daughter a memo pad HD 7.

S10+ vs OnePlus

Anyone else disappointed with the Note 10? Was planning in trading in my s10+ if there was a 1tb option but now I dont think I will and I'm thinking of going to One Plus
Yes, I think I'm going back to oneplus too.
I had the 6t McLaren then got the 10+ and was waiting for the note 10+, but I'm not really impressed.
Also the ****ty battery life on Samsung lead me to the decision, to probably go for the oneplus 7t pro.

Most reviews say s10+ battery life is better than op7pro, but yes I have a note 10+ sitting back in the box awaiting return because I actually feel like I'm downgrading from s10+
What are your biggest cons? My biggest is the no upgraded CPU. It's the same phone as the S10+ in a different body, or so it seems. I was thinking about switching but would like your opinion.

The Exynos 9825 version that ships with the international version is actually an upgraded processor (7nm process) vs. the 9820 although some benchmarks had it performing worse than the 9820 (8nm process). Seems like anyone who got one will have to wait for Sammy to optimize its software. Of course, there’s a slightly bigger screen. Not certain if the battery’s bigger, though.
I actually owned an Int’l. Note10+ for 3 hours yesterday as part of a carrier promotion to retain my mobile plan — but I decided to just flip it (unopened) straight up for an 11” iPad Pro with Cellular. I didn’t see any reason to move on from my S10+, which I’ve enjoyed quite a bit.
I also thought about just getting a OnePlus 7 Pro but honestly its lack of wireless charging put me off. I realized that wireless charging was very important to me. I travel a lot and go into meetings frequently when I’m in town so being able to top up my phone by just dumping it on a pad instead of messing around with a cable is really big for me (plus, I already have wireless charging pads all over my home and office).
I hope OP rectify that in the OnePlus 7 Pro T (or whatever their next handset will be) because I really like what OnePlus has done these last few years.

So OnePlus has a 1TB option? Can you use external memory cards in OnePlus phones? Do you still need to use the ported Google Pixel Camera app to take decent pics on OnePlus phones?

Advantages of the S10+ over the One Plus 7 pro:
Battery life.
Sd card
headphone jack
Advantages of the Note 10:
battery life?
Take out the only features that stop people from buying other phones and they might as well by other phones... I mean if your going to sell me a gimped phone I can buy a gimp phone from anyone. SD and especially headphone jack was one of the main advantages they had over the competition.
The thing is a downgraded S10+ with faster internal storage.
There are always posts exactly like this to plug OnePlus in the threads for other phones across XDA. I've seen these same kinds of posts in the XDA threads for every single non-OnePlus phone I've owned including multiple models from Xiaomi, Huawei and the Essential PH-1.

I don't think so. S10plus charging is capped at 15W (at least till now). I did try the 25w charger of note10plus but it was taking the same time as the 15w charger.

There was some talk that Samsung was considering an upgrade to the S10 series wireless charging speed via an OTA update which might be what you read. It hasn't happened yet and probably isn't a good idea given Samsung's track record with battery problems.

Yeah. i read about it too a few months back when the S10 5G was launched as it comes with 25W charging capability but havent read anything recently about this higher charging support coming to normal s10 series. Still, hope it does come in a future update.
