Do you have to buy wireless charging part seprately?
Looking to buy Nexus 4, there is already one bad thing about the phone - storage. If it doesn't come with wireless charging part, it will make me choose between note 2 and this.. which I'm thinking note 2 might be better, besides the fact that its pure android, Google wallet, better camera, 4.7 screen... note 2 has multi tasking. Which will be nice. But a little big.

I guess you will have to buy it seperate but i don´t think multitasking should be a reason to buy the Galaxy Note 2 because im pretty sure we are going to get it as mod on our nexus.
I was just saying that was one of the nicer features. I didnt feel like giving a full summary on both phones.
But it is between those two.

According to 3G.co.uk, the Nexus 4 actually comes with a wireless charging mat. Yayyyyyyy -
http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/Oct2012/google-nexus-4-how-does-it-compare-to-the-iPhone-5-Galaxy-S3.html
" One advantage the Nexus 4 has over its major rivals is support for wireless charging, which isn't supported on the iPhone 5 or the Galaxy SIII. A wireless charging mat is included in the retail box , so you don't event have to buy an extra accessory to use the feature."
But whether they know, or just guessing - I don't know.

I won't get my hopes up.
It doesn't mention anything about a mat in the play store:
What's In The Box
Nexus 4 phone
USB sync/charge cable
AC Adapter and cable
SIM ejection tool
Safety and Warranty information
Quick start guide
I think it is seperate
I think from the Verge's hands on video it sounds like it will be a separate accessory you purchase. Since the price is already decently priced I don't think Google will include the charge orb for free.

Charging mat thing sounds cooler to me.
I doubt it will come with the mat. However, it would be very nice, since they use a standardized wireless charging method.
They didn't even give basic headphone so no for the wireless charger

For Three in Denmark (And i think Sweden as well) the Wireless Charging is listed as an "extra bonus" for those preordering, it has a value of 599DKK (79€) and will be sent in december.
So it's definitely an accessory not part of the retail bundling, but it may be that the Wireless Charger is included in non-google play preorders to offset the issue of the device being much cheaper on the Play Store.

Ok guys, don't flame me here please! =]
I'm in love with the new iPad 2 thats going to come out.
Yes not MUCH has changed from iPAD 1st gen, but I guess im turning to the dark side. Overall while i love the portability of the Tab, I want a bigger screen like the iPAD and honeycomb isn't cutting it for me.
So in order to gather some funds for that, I'm going to be selling my Galaxy Tab [SPRINT].
Funny thing is, if you buy it.. the Tab will be UNUSED! I'm getting a replacement BRAND NEW UNIT from Samsung shipped to me this exact moment.
I'll even throw in a Zenus Color Edge BLACK & Orange Folio Case with Stand Worth $70.00, perfect condition.
http://www.zenuscase.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29813
So I'll give the Tab (In box), Charger, Wall Plug, Booklets, and Case to anyone shipped for 490 due to the expensive 100% leather case. or best offer.. i'm willing to negotiate a little.
Perfectly stock, with the 16GB Micro SD Card that comes with it.
Also if you perfer me to Root the BRAND NEW TAB Replacement i'm getting from Samsung, I'll gladly do that for you. or W/e apps you might want on it. Also if you want to just use it as WiFi only, I can disable the Activation Notification for you as well. If you want Ad-Hoc connections enabled i can do that for you as well.
But if you perfer just a new tab in the original tab's box with accessories and case.. then sure I wont touch it. =]

oh well, I would suggest to think twice before buying an Ipad.
I got the first generation(I receveid it as a gift...i would never bought it myself and a galaxy tab...bought,lol)...
here what the ipad CAN'T do:
no multitasking
no microsd support
no bluetooth profiles (only audio) (gt has BT3.0 support means it can use wifi trasparently to exchange big files while using bt)
no usb storage function
no front camera (ipad 1) issue resolved with ipad2
no umts videocall
no gsm call (lol)
no sms/mms
no hd 1080 video support and not any if you don't convert the videos
no hdmi video out
no data echange with a pc if not using itunes with its limitations
inferior display quality
inferior battery life (after custom kernel OC/UV on galaxy tab no comparison at all)
no opensource
no possibility of apps installation if not using appstore (money involved ever)
no video recording
very inferior rear camera (it's like not having one...it was introduced in 2nd step)
no flash for camera
no FLASH browsing support!! even if now there is frash for ipad(needs jailbreak) it doesn't play 10.1 flash streaming videos just as megavideo for example.
castrated hummingbird cpu with 256mb of ram means less speed overall
slower wifi
no hsupa support
this is some of the stuff you can't do but there is a lot else the galaxy can do and ipad can't...this is what came instantly to my mind !
if you like all this stuff YOU CAN'T do and don't need it go for ipad2
galaxy tab 10.1 will kill ipad2 in every aspect just like the actual kill the ipad1 and even more!
I hear you bro. I just sold my galaxy tab and picked up a Xoom and it is an utter pile of ****. Will be returning it less 24 hours from purchase. This is exactly right. Honeycomb is NOT finished. Motorola rushed the Xoom out the door with an unfinished version of Honeycomb, and others had to follow suit or be left out of the market. This is exactly why AOSP doesn't have Honeycomb yet, because it is not finished.
Just be patient guys. Once AOSP gets the proper FINISHED Honeycomb, ports will be done for our device, and we will have a much much better experience with Honeycomb than anyone buying a current Factory Honeycomb Tab.
It actually pained me to watch the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Barcelona Launch Event vid. Terrible performance, video glitches (the red box glitch in particular, I mean you see it in SDK ports and such but that is understandable, but in a supposedly finished device? that is just terrible...), many bad things. I can see Honeycomb, among the general public, getting a bad name from this
Why did you got the replacement unit? was the first one was not working?
well it had a very faint yellow coloring on the original, if you search my other post you'll see it.

Five!? Wow. What were the others and what makes this one so much better if I may ask?
I have a viewsonic g-tablet, and a transformer prime. They collect dust since I got the nexus7.
It's mainly size that makes it much more useable then those 10" tablets. Take it with me everywhere, its better for gaming also due to the size.
For the hardware and price, it really can't be beat.
I started with a 16gb on pre-order. Then they announced the 32gb. So I bought myself one of those. The girlfriend is getting my old 16gb, and I picked up another 32gb for my mom for the holidays for 229.
Really can't go wrong.
May I ask where you got the 32 for 229$

I had a Acer a500 10" tablet before my nexus 7. I'd have to charge it about once a week, maybe not even that. My nexus 7, I have to charge about every 2 days. Noo, this isn't about battery life. Its that I can't put my nexus 7 down! I can't believe how enjoyable this device is to use. I thought I was taking a step backwards with going to a smaller screen. I was wrong. I love my nexus 7 and I use this thing everyday. Its amazing and for $200, you can't beat it. My gf loves my nexus 7 and always wants to use it. I actually got it from Adorama but it was a cyber monday thing on ebay.. But I've seen a few people in the whos is shipping thread stickied at the top getting similar prices since.
At that price, it was a great deal. I totalled up the 16gb from the play store, with tax and shipping it would have come to 230 something. And I got the 32gb for 229 with no tax and free shipping.

After watching Cnet top 10 gifts this year. I can see why the Nexus 7 made it to the #1 spot this year.
In the area where I'm living you won't find the Nexus 7 16GB model anywhere within a 50 mile range in any stores. Cause they are flying out of the door faster then they can get them. The stores in my area still had like four 32GB model of the Nexus 7 still. Least that what they had when I called them asking how many they had. That was three days ago when I bought my Nexus 7.

Nook Color, Nook Tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Asus TF300 and Nexus 7.
The Nooks were crippled with old versions of Android and had to be hacked to be made useful. The Galaxy Tab had Touchwiz over Android and Samsung was slow with updates. The Asus has terrible I/O issues that cause the tablet to be very slow when any I/O is being done. After having both 7 and 10 inch tablets I find for me 7 is the sweet spot and the Nexus has been my favorite.....so far.

Maybe not the best in sheer performance, but I would definitely say the best overall when it comes to value quality and performance as a package. And its a nexus, after getting my gnex in July I don't think I'll ever get another non-nexus android device.
On another note, when I decided to get one (I buy everything in 32gb where possible) most stores were out of stock, I bought the last one office depot had in.

Poor battery life? Not my experience at all. of course, I've only had it for a little over a week. Still, I've used the heck out of this little device and haven't felt the need to run to the charger. Two days is my requirement. If it can last me two days with heavy use then battery life will never be an issue. The Nexus 7 does this and more. Also, maybe I have very clear vision, but I think seeing web sites in full desktop view is fine on the Nexus 7. I always hit the "request full desktop option under chrome when browsing.
But it still nice to get someone's opinion who favors other devices. IMHO, the lack of a true HD screen, the wider and taller form factor (yes it is noticeable after holding the two devices in your hand), having to look at the same static stale home screen all the time, puts the iPad Mini near the bottom spot for me. Frankly, even if the Nexus 7 was priced the same at $329, I still think it is the better buy.

The lack of the TV output is most certainly a valid point, but I really don't know of anyone that uses that on a tablet. I have it on my Acer Iconia A100 and I have the HDMI cable and I used it once just to check it out. Not really that important with very few use cases.
The full screen web experience thing is a little confusing. You get the full desktop versions of the sites if desired. Web browsing is very snappy due to the quad core processor and 1GB of ram.
The iPad mini does have the upper hand on the battery life though, but it is by 2 hours. The iPad gets 12 hours while the Nexus 7 gets 10. I don't think I have ever used a tablet for 10 hours in a single day.
Yeah my first tablet and loving it.

Battery life is excellent and TV out is ...
If this thing had airplay and was glued together properly it would be perfect.
Almost after 3 years since the tablets hit the world, I bought my first one. Now you all must think I have been living under a cave or something all this time.
But then truth is that although I like the idea of a Tablet, there just wasn't any real use for me all this time for a Tablet. Also the better ones like the 10 inch iPads and other tabs were just too big for mobile usage, 7 inches a bit small (why not just get a phablet?)
The Laptop and the netbook served my sedentary needs very well.
But why now?
Partly because I want one and also because my mom(Doctor turned Biology teacher) also needs to use it sometimes for teaching purpose, annotating Pdf's, drawing some biology diagrams etc.
and clearly nothing can do better annotation than the note series from Samsung. The styluses on other devices(capacitive) are clearly not nearly as good.
So went out to buy the Note 10.1 in march( even though it was a bit too big). Clearly, it worked well with the S-pen and mom also seemed at ease using it, but that problem of size was there and that coupled with the high price for a tv-out adapter(Mom would need to connect it to a projector as well) and the high price of the tablet itself (The only version sold in India is the 3G 16 GB at about 650 USD.
But then came across a news about the note 8.0, lighter and a more orthodox MICROUSB, decided to wait for the same.
In the meantime, Samsung even came out with a pretty awesome discount scheme of up to 15% on the note 10.1, but somehow my heart didn't listen.
Kept waiting, device was launched in the USA, reviews were out which were very very positive. The device came up for pre order at Rs 30,900, but I had to get a good hands-on before spending so much (damn no good return policy here in India).
Then I had a big exam coming up. (For entrance into a Medical College) Then went the same evening on the lookout for this device. After searching in vain at a number of stores, finally found at one shop. But the seller didn't have a demo unit. Damn...It was right there.
Kept calling up a few shops for availability and demo units. When I finally got some time, finally bought it on the May 19th. Interesting thing though, I was so frustrated by this point that I just used the phone arena . com size tool and I was ready to pay up the cash, but to my surprise as I walked in the store there was spanking new demo unit installed, just picked it up and knew that it is the perfect size. Did a bit of bargaining and actually got the device at Rs 29,000 (about 40 USD less than the pre order price)
The device has been working great. Feels very light in the hand. I wanted to connect it to a VGA projector, and there has been a quite a lot of work at it. I had to order a total of 5 items on eBay before finally getting it to work. Even now it sometimes gives a weird and different resolutions. Sometimes VGA resolution and sometimes 720p.But at least it works!
Looking to buy more accessories for this product.

note 8.0 is a clever choose.
Well, my mother had the Asus Transformer 300 for 6 months and love it until she cracked the screen and could operate it anymore. Since I bought it for her, I felt obligated to replace it. I gave her 3 choices: the iPad, another Transformer 300, or Note 10.1. After sending her a plethora of YouTube video on all three, she wanted the Note 10.1!!! She loves it and I get a chance to mess around with it in the process. So much so, that I just ordered myself the Note 8.0!!!

Took the plunges and brought my self a note 8 too after looking at all the option. I was planning to wait for updated nexus 7.
The s pen sold me. Using the tablet as education toys for my kids it is great. The only letdown is the battery life which last slightly more than a day of usage.
I also put nova launcher on note 8 which standardize the look and feel across multiple device making my life easier. All the s pen features and multi screen still work under different launcher.
Note8 using normal interface rather than tablet interface also helps the transitions as all my purchase apps works well on note as well as my phone.

given that the note 8 is pretty much just a shrunken down galaxy note 10.1 (and so is the g note 2) it pretty much proves that the 30 pin connector the gn10.1 an all the other galaxy tablets use is just a big money grab. there isn't a faster charge rate with the 30 pin vs the mUSB nor is transferring files any faster. it's possible that in the future the 30 pin will have some benefits (i doubt it since usb 3.0 is pretty dang nice), but for now mUSB cables are working pretty fine. i've never had a transfer saturate the USB 2.0 cable anyways.
for ref, my gn10.1 generally charged ~1600mAh and transferred files around 10MB/s through usb 2.0, same as my gn8, gn2 and s4.
The Note 8.0 is an over grown Note 2.0
The Note 10.1 is an overgrown Note 1.0
30 pin is dead, long live micro usb. The NEW tab 3s also use Micro USB.
30 pin was unreliable at anything more than 3 feet. Try finding a good 5 foot one for sync and charge at the same time.

If you reread the OP you will "hopefully" see that he is referring to the Note 10.0 and previous Samsung Tablets that had the 30 pin connector.
He is basically saying ( a month ago ) what everyone knew all along, that proprietary connectors are used mainly to get you to buy the same companies accessories. Cables, Docks ext.
Must say the micro usb connection was the thing that swayed me to sell my Note 10.1 and replace it with the Note 8.0. I use the 8 much more since its smaller and easier to carry around too.

I was actually on the verge of buying another 10.1 but decided to see what comes next. I hope it's gonna use musb and USB 3.0 since it'll charge faster via USB then. until those details pop up I'll hold on to the spare 30 pins I have.
I just bought a sero 7 pro and it's about the same size as the gn8. I haven't had a 7 in tablet in a while and iI'm surprised how usable they've become in the last 2 years. I also got my daughter a memo pad HD 7.

Well it's still under a year away, so specs are probably not final, + I honestly think 4gb of ram would be probably be the most during that time. The processer, as specified, would be one of the strongest during that time. The camera is only 8 megapixel with low light. The resolution is sadly only 720p (over 300ppi atleast) but the screen is scratch resistant, or so the video says.

Def. Worth more than the $600 /£400 price tag available yesterday - great fleabay item, if I hadn't just bought a pool table I'd have made the investment.

You guys get it wrong. This is not yet another Android smartphone competitor.
This is an Ubuntu PC that also runs Android.
I'm sure everything will be open source, unlike Samsung and HTC. So I think it'll be fully compatible with CyanogenMod.
I've taken a punt on it - not convinced they will meet their $32million target but they will get close. I know 14 may is a long way away but it will probably beat htc and Samsung to the market.
Wouldn't be surprised if its htc they have lined up to make it for them.
Htc did a good job on the x1 for sony - then put it in a different package and called it a touch pro. Same with google nexus and the desire.
Wouldn't be surprised if the ubuntu edge is just next years flagship htc in different clothing.

I got in at $675 for the Ubuntu Edge. I'd love it if HTC makes it, as I now have the HTC One as my daily driver and couldn't be happier.
Good news: http://ubuntu-edge.info

Just because I think something doesn't make it right. And just because someone else thinks something else on the same issue does not make them wrong. These are known as "opinions" and everyone is entitled to their own. You need to respect other's opinion, bashing it down with rhetorical posts is not the way to go.
Thread cleaned
Android just died...
There are 5 threads on the front page with little to nothing to do with the Note 2. Let's talk about these in the thread dedicated to other devices:

Will you quit being "Moderator"? You participated in these threads yourself and now you have a change of heart?
Those threads are important for current and perspective Note 2 owners. Beside in lack of new grand developments for Note some community building talk hurts no one....
