Can I get some help ? - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

Okay so I followed this guy and his guide - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j5/how-to/root-fix-samsung-galaxy-j5-sm-j500fn-t3691516
And I forgot to boot the damn phone in teamwin after I flashed recovery so I guess its gone since I cant access it, I guess recovery got overwritten with the stock one so yeah only standard android recovery mode and now every goddamn thing I try to flash in Odin just keeps getting stuck at recovery.img. - There is nowhere on google solution for this.
Also Im not sure where could I get stock recovery (and will it delete something on the phone???) so I can try flashing that and hope it works so I can try again. Im doing all of this just so I can add damn SD card to internal memory so if anyone got any other solution Im willing to listen. I hate Samsung.
EDIT : Nevermind I got it working by using another USB port direct to the motherboard. Looks like it was just a bad USB port.

lost clockwork whaile flashing, help...phone wont boot passed samsung screen...

hey everyone, im having a problem after trying to flash a rom. in the middle of the flash my phone went to the stock recovery. Can't get into clockwork. error = "can't mount /dev/block/vold/179:1" and cannot verify whole-file signature. Does any one know how to fix this with out flashing back to stock with Odin? the reason being is that my phone will connect to comp thru usb but it will not read the sd card, cant mount. further more, device cant be recognized when in downloader mode. my question is, is there a way to get the to get the sd card mounted to flash eclair and start over...bty my phone wont boot, stuck at samsung screen...thanx
I am not sure there is any other way other than ODIN. You can try removing battery for a couple minutes and booting again, but it is likely that if your flash was interrupted that you wont have the ability to get into clockwork. I have had a few flashes interrupted and the only way I was successful was pulling battery and using ODIN. You shouldn't need to mount your SD when you are using ODIN. ODIN connects to the internal memory.
I don't think ODIN even looks for your driver. First time I used ODIN I didn't even have it installed. However, the root software definitely needed it.
Make sure your USB is connected directly to your motherboard USB port i.e. the back of the computer. Go into download mode, then connect your phone.
There is no way that I know of to apply clockwork from an update.zip. Does adb work in the stock recovery?
And have you seen if another computer with Odin will recognize the phone in download mode? We have a service computer thas has issues with epics, so our service people usually bring them to me when Odin isn't cooperating.
Your best bet is to Odin, if possible. If you can't get Odin to work from any computer and you can't access via adb, then there isn't much you can do.
thanks swanysto and DiGi760 for the replies. ima lurker that knows how to read and follow instructions. ive flashed multiple roms before, zips, ect. on the epic since ive got it without much problem at all...anyways i did like 4hrs of reading before i posted, hoping to not have to ask this question in this rude forum(the bickering of stupid replies) but i had to anyways.... i have tried to odin thru the motherboard in the back and that didnt work. i also tried adb but that didnt work either. so since the stock recovery came up, couldnt get into the phone, and i was able to do a factory wipe. i decide to take a shot at taking it to sprint repair. and guess what......they gave ya boy a new phone! i thank you guys for taking the time to reply! hopefully people will be more helpful like you guys( trying to be helpful answering question) than just starring at peoples posts and being uncommunicative. in the future if ur tired to repeating yourself because youve helped before, maybe u should make a note pad full of answers called "replies for noobie questions" so yall can cut and paste...
well lets just pray that sprint wont be able to see what u did and charge your account later......they did it to me for my evo, they added an extra $400 to my bill.
really? like the same exact issue?
even after i formatted everything(system, data, cache, sd card) then the stock recovery?

Recovery / Bootloader

Ok, i realize i have a different phone from this thread but it is close and my problems closely reflect the issues ive seen with the Galaxy S.
A little background. Im no perfect i know what im doing when it comes to rooting. I have an HTC Tbolt and rooted many of those, an older touch pro 2, and this is first time doing a samsung. I am getting the hang of ODIN (i wish everyone would just use this program instead of bouncing back and forth between heimdall and ODIn but whatever) Im liking ODIN cause it works well. I was successful at flashing a new rom into this Samsung phone. 95% of it worked, wifi i think didnt but everything else worked. While trying to fix the phones wifi somehow i have stopped the phone from booting into CMW recovery unless forced or booting into a rom. I can get into CMW but i must hold down the Vol Down button to get there, otherwise a clean basic boot takes me to the stock android system recovery screen and will not boot a rom.
I have something backwards or out of order. I am just trying to get the rom to identify the installed CMW and the installed ROM through CMW but it wont do it.
Any help would be appreciated, i dont want my GF to find out i jacked her phone lol
Which phone do you have? SGS? I can just talk about SGS+ but I guess its similiar.
Try to install CWM with Odin, normally it should replace the stock recovery (haven't heard of both running at once).
Once you have installed CWM you can install your custom ROM with CWM (look at the install instructions).
If you want to install stock ROM with Odin it will replace your CWM with stock Recovery.
Post the link of the thread/recovery you want to flash.

Its a stratosphere. Im using the root and / or stock files in the root method. I use ODIN to flash the StratCWMRecovery.tar.md5 and if i tick "reboot" then it reboots into CWM i install a rom or stock rom and it finishes. I reboot the phone and it instantly goes back to android system recovery. If you like ill make a short video to give you an idea of whats going on.
I will note that im close to making a jig but its not 100% bricked obviously. 3 button method still works (and unecessary at this point since all the phone does is go straight into the stock bootloader) and then after i install CWM i can force it in to CWM but it wont actualy boot into it.
From a programing standpoint i feel the pointers or partitions are incorrect. Its like booting a computer that has a hard drive with windows installed however getting the bios to tell it to boot from the hard drive isnt working. THats the easiest way to explain this.
One thing i want to note is the only errors i am getting are when i try to partition the SD card from CWM. I get an error saying sdparted is not found.
I am not getting a full understanding of how the root system works on this phone.
Again any help is appreciated.
Made a short video. Its uploading now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFZ5Adm5AdQ
So whatever i did i was able to fix. I think me being a very visual person and normally having access to all files i need or could use in a situation is always nice. Here, i didnt but i found them. Here's the link. Its obviously for stratosphere but i took about 10 minutes and let ODIN install all these files and it worked.
original posting but the link doesnt work for download
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/11183-eh2-full-factory-odin-restore/
where i downloaded it
http://www.fileswap.com/dl/t4D235pUTO/SCH-I405.EH2_rel.md5.html
Again this is for stratosphere. Since it really helped me return to stock and allow me to re root in about 15 minutes this thread should be moved but there is no stratosphere area

[Q] After 4 1/2 yrs on XDA I am finally stuck! Bricked No download mode, No OS.

Hello my fellow XDA Members. I am stuck in a tight spot and after reading and re-reading some things the situation doesn't look very promising. I hope this is the moment that Karma shows up and I can get some help on this. Here it goes.
Specs - LG G2 D801 Variant > TWRP V2.8.3.1 > NO OS Currently
I was running Cloudy G3 Rom smoothly and got bored and decided to flash that new rom that is a 5.0 Rom all variants. Did the usual back ups and flashed it. Something happened when I flashed the rom. It went through the Aroma installer and then said "successful" but stuck in a bootloop. I tried it again and nothing happened. Then I tried to wipe everything again and started getting an E: Cannot mount (data or system I forget which as that error went away after I completely formatted data, wiped everything and reflashed Cloudy Stock. )
> Cloudy stock bootlooped and nothing is happening in TWRP. I Am using the USB OTG method of getting files on the phone and getting it charged but anytime I try to do anything (flash a rom, an older version of TWRP) it just immediately restarts TWRP and thats that. I have No OS at all.
> I tried to use one of the methods to get into download mode and flash a stock KDZ but the phone acts like it is going into DL mode (shows the little blue transition screen) but never gets into the ACTUAL download mode where the PC or flash tool can recognize it.
So in a nutshell > No OS > I can get into TWRP but it does nothing > No Download Mode > Don't want a new phone > Don't want to take it apart and try to short circuit anything if possible. LOL.
I am totally stuck here. I am done alot of work and even helped friends and family out with their devices over the years. I am just not sure if I need to consider it a done deal and get a new phone or maybe one of you guys know of something easy and obvious (please let it be the latter) I am missing. Thanks for any help you can offer. I Will be standing by.

I haven't thought about flashing a bootloader. How would I flash the bootloader if I can not the phone into either DL mode and or TWRP doesn't do anything either? Is a bootloader file just a flashable file like any other .zip file?

The first one I can not do as I do not have any knowledge at all of Ubuntu, Linux, or any of that. It would take forever to get a working knowledge of that software in order to get things going again. I would probably just have to either take it to a cellphone repair shop or get another phone before I could do the first link.
I have not tried the second one but it is a viable option. I was looking at it online and trying to talk myself down from having to do that. I would reallllllllly rather not have to take my phone apart if I can keep from so that's kind of what this post is all about. Just trying to see if anyone knows of ANYTHING else before I go taking apart my phone.
Can you describe more about "twrp doesnt do anything"?
Does twrp boot up?
Can u see/wipe partitions?
Can u install any rom in twrp? Does it finish?

TWRP boots and I can go into wipe, advanced wipe, and format data and it says it's successful. I can use file manager and move items back and forth from USB OTG. If I try to flash anything it just reboots TWRP immediately so I can't install any .zip files at all.
My guess is that your bootloader is damaged.
The only option i can see for you is that Ubuntu thing i shared with you. So, lets stop acting lazy and do what needs to be done. Dont scare since there is nothing to loose. LG G2 is unbrikable
Booting up ubuntu or any other linux os is so easy. And there is nothing much to learn. Trust me.
Go to ubuntu website and download their newest iso file. Burn it on dvd and boot it up. You dont have to install it, just choose "live mode" and it boots up. Just like that. Then yiu can proceed with tutorial mentioned above and it shouldnt take more than an hour from you. Its all typing some commands in terminal (remember CMD in windows!).
Just make sure to download the files mentioned in that tutorial before proceeding.

First of all calling people lazy is not nice. I'm not lazy I am trying to play it safe. I wouldn't want to brick it to the point to where I don't even have recovery and it can not even be charged any longer. I have Ubuntu on my desktop upstairs. I have used it a little. It's not that I am completely ignorant to Ubuntu I am just a total novice. Also the issue described in that post doesn't exactly match my situation. I am not in a black screen. It's more like a bootloop that I can not get out of because TWRP is not doing what it needs to do and I can not flash TWRP a ROM or get into DL mode at all. Also that post says,
"VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! You must use the img files that correspond to the ROM you have installed before getting the problem to avoid breaking your phone."
I don't have a rom on my phone soooo...
You didn't answer my question well. If on TWRP you can finish installing rom without any error, and you keep coming to twrp after restarts, that's another situation. Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
But if you cant even finish install in twrp (twrp gives you errors or just restarts before giving you "successful", either you have problem in rom you try to flash or you need to build everything up from start.
That lazy thing was for encouraging you to do it.
And you cant brick your device. There is always a way on G2.
For img files: find them from last stock rom that was working on your phone.

Cant get past fastboot screen

Hey guys so i was on stock lg v20 software and i recently rooted and didnt realize that i would loose wifi calling... I tried to do a factory reset but that was a mistake... ATM i currently can get into bootloader mode and fastboot but i am not able to do anything else but that... For some reason when i mount on bootloader the internal storage doesnt even show up... Im not sure what to do at this point I dont think i can just reset back to stock because there isnt no firmware... I know there is a krz file that i downloaded i used to the flasher software but it didnt do anything for some reason i put my phone into download mode and it would be stuck at 0 percent... I was on the h910 model but now its saying us966 for some reason. I can also note that i tried to install the deox rom or whatever it is and it would say it was installed but when i reboot to system it just goes back into fastboot can anyone help me with this? I realized i screwed up but is there anything i can do? I can contact att and get a replacement but i dont know if they will do it since the bootloader is on there.

Umm try getting back into Recovery if you've already flashed TWRP. Pull battery out, hold down POWER and VOL DOWN at the same time, the second that the LG logo pops up, let go of power and hold it back down again really quick. If you do it right, you will get a factory reset screen. Say yes to both screens. If you are unsure that you have TWRP flashed, reflash TWRP from fastboot. If you are able to get to TWRP, do a clean wipe [(dalvik, boot, system, cache) + (format data)] then flash your desired rom.
I don't know anything about going back to stock, especially since I'm on the Sprint variant. Good luck.

I had the similar problem, Im on the sprint variant. If you can access the boot loader. Run Step 3 of the dirty Santa method. this will install the TWRP recovery again, if somehow it is corrupt. After that, download the stock from for your h910 model and place it on an SD card. Flash it and see if that fixes it.
At least with this you will know that it is most likely a firmware issue.
Note: if after you install TWRP and it just hangs on the LG logo, at some given point, you can run the command via your respected operating system.
adb reboot recovery
and that should kick you into TWRP.
This is not an answer to your question, but you should not lose wifi calling from just rooting. Stock based ROMs should also have wifi calling working.
well dang for some reason my wifi calling wasnt working and ik for a fact that the fm radio wasnt working also not that i need it anyways. Well what i did was call att and thank god there sending me a replacement so im going to send this one back when i get the new one i would like to root the new phone but I do not want to lose wifi calling if i do it again i doubt ill be able to get another replacement lol. Is there a easier way to root possibly? And I cant download a stock firmware because i basically cant find one for my phone I have no way to go back to stock so a rom is only option Im going to try this one more time just to check it im going to download a rom for my phone and ill check it

You may want to check out this thread. If you can't get out of this situation you should also consider not rooting your next device.

Deleted Bootloader on LeEco S3 X626

A couple weeks back I deleted the OS off of my phone while messing with TWRP recovery trying to install a custom ROM. I looked around the forums and i got my phone to the point where It booted into a stripped down version of android with stock recovery on it, although everything was mirriored and backwards. But when i tried to install the stock rom for my LeEco S3 with stock recovery it got stuck i a boot loop and I couldn't turn off the phone or boot into recovery or anything. So i let it keep booting until it ran out of battery and died. So then i decided i would put the stripped down version back on and start again.
So I went back to my sp flash tool and reinstalled all the partions except the boot and recovery partitions (according to the steps on the forum) but my phone still wont boot into anything, it is completely black and wont boot into recovery or fastboot, and im running out of ideas on how to fix this phone :crying:
After pretty much giving up all hope of fixing my phone, i figured i would try the format option in the flash tool and then reinstall all of the pattitions. I selected format all flash, not doing proper research first, and now i cant even reinstall partions, I get a STATUS_BROM_CMD_SEND_DA_FAIL error anytime i try to flash the partitions.

I have already looked through that thread, and i have done everything up to the flashing process, and then I get a STATUS_BROM_CMD_SEND_DA_FAIL (0xC0060003) Error. I looked it up but the only option I haven't tried to solve the issue is to remove the battery, which i cannot do currently because to remove the battery you need a heat gun to remove the screen to get to the rest of the phone. I think I've given up all hope on fixing this phone and may just begin saving for a new one.
