Hello Everyone,
I'm in the market for a new phone and have previously been a Samsung user. My last phone was an S7 and was somewhat reasonably priced. With the $900 price tag for the new ones I have begun looking elsewhere. I found the 6T and it seems like an excellent option, except for one thing. Waterproofing. My S7 permanently lives in a Lifeproof Fre case and has done well swimming rapids when I miss my line in whitewater kayak. It's survived crashes on mountain bikes and dirt bikes, and still works, kind of.
I've done some preliminary research on cases for the 6T and have been under impressed with what I have found. It seems as though there is no waterproof option. Lifeproof doesn't even acknowledge the existence of the phone, and their big brother Otter only offers a commuter case.
Has anyone had any luck finding a waterproof/shockproof case?
Thanks in advance!
Andrew

No luck, looking for the same. Harrassed punkcase.com support asking them to make one. Lol. Currently using a poetic defender case with rear camera temperglass cover
Lifeproof says they have no plans to make a case either

hello all! I'm new to the site, so I thought seen as this is my first thread I would say hello etc.. *waves*.. I got my XDA mini s last week and with some help from this place have it working nicely (on the stock rom might I add, as it appears to be the latest from O2..).
However, I noticed that after leaving it under my PC moniter it had effected the colouring of the screen (as a magnet would), it took me about 5mins to realise that the case that comes with the XDA from O2 has two magnets in it to hold the flap down when the case is closed. The only thing I am not sure off is how this will effect my XDA? I was never one to trust companies to think before they act so producing a case that would damage the product it is designed for does not stretch my belief, but I'm honestly unsure of how it would effect things... Thoughts on the subject?
On a slightly related note (and something I asked in another thread, but figured I would put it here also due to it being related)..
What kind of screen protector do people recommend? What about a link to a decent case too? Do you guys keep your wizards in a case or just keep it hanging around in your pockets? Worried about damaging the thing but getting it out of the case to answer a call is a tad annoying..
Thanks for any help and advice
*waves more*
I decided to just buy a new case ! This one will make it easier to use too, so all is well once more..
So which one did you decide on? Interested for my own XDA Mini S. Cheers.
I went with the PDAir book type leather case (review: http://www.onppc.com/forum/article_read.asp?id=12) which are on sale on ebay for £14.49 with free shipping.. it is however coming from hongkong which could mean a fake :\.. we shall see ! To buy them new from PDAir.com is around the same price but you have to pay for shipping, which I thought would probably fairly high, so I decided to chance it with ebay..
The review plus some feedback of another forum member in another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29227) sold the case for me.. Ill post a review when i get it in a week or so.
For me the issue with the case I had (the O2 default case) was the hugely powerful magnets in it and the fact that it was a slip out (and one that was not easy to slip the phone out off) which would take me 5mins to get the damn thing out to answer a call..
I also have a PDAir case (flip style rather than book), which I bought direct from PDAir. Shipping from Hong Kong was quite fast; IIRC, it took only 3 days to get to the US. Total cost including shipping was $28.
I will be buyin this bad boy on LAUNCH DAY....
I think i'll wait on buying the dock though....
gonna miss my gTab, hope I get what I paid for the gTaba nd the CLIP.
I hope they make a CLIP for the Transformer, I LOVED IT for the gTab!
I was able to sell my G Tab on ebay this past weekend for $345 shipped with Skinomi screen/back protectors. I only lost like $10 compared to what I paid for everything. Kind of a bummer since I only owned the G Tab for like a week lol. But oh well... I think the Transformer will be worth it.
Probably best to unload the G Tab now anyway, before it quickly starts to lose value.
Auction just closed, got $335 + $15 shipping, came to $339.50 after paypal fees. After I take my MAC bluetooth keyboard back to bestbuy ill have (hopefully) ~$410 which should put me close to the Transformer, i hope.
It was a blast to use my gTab, now its time to move on to something new and let someone else enjoy the goodness =D
I'm on the same boat. I have two Nooks that are going on ebay before the transformer catches wind.

OT: How did that Skinomi protector work on the gtablet? I just posted in Accessories that I saw they were advertising a protector and carbon fiber back on Amazon - but have never heard of them.
It worked really well. Fitment of the back piece was kind of crappy (holes didn't quite line up) but for the most part, I was happy with it. It made the screen more responsive and improved viewing angles a bit.

Thanks for the feedback.
I found a few others posting that the back pieces didn't fit quite right, but still worked.
Another member in the gtablet forum actually cut some carbon fiber backs for several of us so I'll have to see if he's still "in business" for this one.

Yeah the guy selling his own custom carbon fiber backs is a little bit more expensive though. Seems like it may be a higher quality product, but I'm not sure. The Skinomi kit comes with pieces for the sides of the tablet as well though.
I sold my Gtab I have had since November, last week. I'm looking forward to working on the Transformer and will be in for the tablet/dock as soon as it is available in the US.
I have had my Acer since it was first released and I still don't have a case for it because I'm holding out for one that I really like. Given the price of some of them, I can't justify buying an expensive one that I don't like just to have to turn around and drop more when one does come out. So I'm definitely taking a chance with mine carrying it around uncovered every day. So far no scratches or anything, but it's probably just a matter of time.
Here's my gripe, if the Acer is supposedly selling really well and exceeding expectations, then why hasn't Otterbox or Trident made us any cases? I know it's relatively new, but they need to sit up and take notice of the popularity of our device and realize there is a demand there. If you search the Acer under the News category on Google, all it talks about it the strong sales figures, how the Acer is a competitor to not only the Xoom but the ipad2 as well. I wish they would hurry it up so I can properly protect my tablet.
Has anyone heard anything along the lines of either brand planning anything? I know another forum had mentioned a few people writing Otterbox and Trident and one user claims that one of them told him they had no plans to release a case for the Acer. That's not very smart of them considering the device is gaining popularity. I hope it's not because the tablet is an Acer opposed to a Motorola or Apple. You know good and well they will make one for the PayBook because it's a BlackBerry.
Edit: I just got a response from Trident on Facebook. They have no plans for a case for the A500, I just don't understand. Otterbox makes a case for the ORIGINAL Nook; a device that has been replaced by a newer version gets a case but we don't? The Nook isn't even relevant anymore and the hot new Acer can't get one? Well apparently trident is a No, hopefully Otterbox will see the light.
I had emailed Otterbox a few weeks before and they said they had no plan to produce a case for the Acer Iconia. All the case manufacturers are more interested to make a case for iPad I guess. Maybe they feel Acer is not cool enough for them.
But anyway hope they will change their mind or else we better looking somewhere else.
This case looks awesome! I love the watch face on the front - too cool. Only place I can find that has them is Expansys for a slightly inflated price. Does anyone know where these will be for sale in the US? AT&T didn't have them when I bought the phone. All of them on eBay are being shipped from South Korea. I was really hoping for Amazon or something similar so I didn't have to wait a few weeks for delivery. Here's to hoping for a timely availability, I guess.

I was hoping you were a verizon customer, i would tell you to go to a corporate store to pick one up, but sorry, i have no advice for you on where to get it since you are AT&T.
I had it for a couple of days and took it back. Since there is no magnetic closure to hold it closed, after having it open for a while, when you go to close it, it pops back up, and slowly closes. That and besides the gimicky cool factor of it, it lost its novelty (to me anyway) after a day. Enjoying having just a plain ol' TPU case on it w/a screen protector.
Nonetheless, good luck in your search. It may suit your needs, but not for me.

Bummer. I bought the GS4 version for my wife and it actually stays closed pretty well; was hoping this one would be the same! Maybe after it's more worn in it will be different? We will see...I think I'll try one out still.
Is the Verizon one all marked up with their logo?
-Collin-
The "bendy part", or spine, if you will, is a bit thicker then it is on the GS4... good for stability, bad for performance. The Verizon is logo free! But with the different buttons and location of the noise cancelling mic (yours above-right of the camera), the vzw model wouldn't fit. and the vzw model is allegedly thicker as well.

I totally forgot about the buttons being different. That would have been a lousy realization to come to after buying it
Back to waiting for AT&T!

I currently have an S6 and want to switch to the 6P. I thought I could handle TouchWiz, but I was wrong.
1. I want to buy from GetHuawei to avoid taxes, but I know shipping was taking forever with them. Is this still a problem? Should I just go through Google and pay the extra $40 in taxes?
2. I have a Spigen Rugged Armor on my S6 and I love it. However, I read the Spigen Rugged Armor for 6P was denting the metal? This was just a response on reddit, but is anybody else experiencing this?
3. Should I get the IntelliArmor tempered glass that works with cases if I get the Spigen Rugged Armor? Or are there better screen protectors out there?
4. Where should I sell my S6 to get the most money? I see them going for around $350 on Swappa, but would eBay or Craigslist maybe yield better results?
Thank you!
Maybe try www.gazelle.com to see what they will give you for it. If not then Craigslist or Ebay will allow you to set what you want and see what takers you get and adjust as required.
I bought mine from Google and got it pretty fast. As far as selling your S6 I would personally go with EBay. I've sold numerous phones there so I could upgrade and I've always got my money back out of them or fairly close. I'm not sure about the screen protectors. I've read that a lot of people are having issues with them. I normally buy one but so far this is the first device that I haven't. So far so good and it had been dropped a few times.

Buy from Google and get Nexus Protect or make sure you buy Square Trade.
Getting a broken phone fixed without either will be almost impossible.

1. I'd just but through Google.
2. I have the Spigen Rugged Armor case and haven't had any issues at all.
3. This is really a matter of opinion. You'll find a thread discussing TGSP's in the Accessories section.
4. EBay has the most exposure, probably the best place to sell.

I probably will buy through Google, even though it'll cost $40 more. At least I'll have Google support and shipping speed! I have never sold on eBay before, are there many risks for the sellers? Thank you!

Why will it be impossible? I did not plan on getting Nexus Protect because I have never broken my phone, but I would like to have the option of repair in case something did happen.

There are some risks involved, if you encounter someone dodgy. But I wouldn't think they would be any more likely than if you sold anywhere else. Swappa is great in the sense that it's selling specific items, and therefore attracts a specific audience.
