Force games to 60fps - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hey guys, I was wondering if there's any way to force games to reach 60fps. Thanks in advance

Games need to support 60fps which not many do. Fps control is also auto to prevent heating. Core speeds are throttled to maintain safe temps.

[Q] Rendering some apps in 720p

I am wondering if there is any way to make some apps for example 3D games render in 720p instead of 1080p. This could be usefull for more performance in some games that could use that or to conserve battery while gaming, because the GPU can then work at a lower frequency and a lower voltage.
I know it is possible to make apps run in custom dpi settings
But I would like to know if there is any way to run an app in an custom resolution like 1280x720 or 800x480.
My I9505 is rooted, running KT kernel and its on 4.4.2 touchwizz.

fps governor i9505

Is it possible to create a governor that uses frames per second for computing.
So for example
You set the gov to 30fps. The cpu works only to make stable 30fps.
You set gov to 60fps. The cpu keeps 60cpu stable
If there are for example areas in a games that doesnt require much power for 60fps it clocks down
And if there are games with fps cap it clocks down aswell.
This is a great idea i think. And it should be possible.
This would be a simple governor because the only governor setting for the user would be fps.

Not bad but our phone can't handle all the games at 60fps, so it's a matter of computing power too.
A variable could be added though so that when it detects fps >30 but <60 it tries to make it work at 30fps so that the performance is consistent.
But what about videos? Many videos are at 24 and 30 fps, so something must be done about this too.
Damn, it'd be cool but I think it's too much work for a result that might not be as pleasing as it sounds. :/
If a frame limiter exists for android (don't know if it does or not, just sayin') we could most likely get less heat and battery consumption when set to 30fps for certain apps without the need for a special governor.

Thanks for the reply. I hope someone makes that governor.

Game experience not so good

Hello guys!
I'm trying to find out what to do to have a lag free gaming experience.
At least for CSR Racing 2. It is lagging so hard sometimes, even if it is on 720p, 1080p, 2K.
Any tips or tricks?
Get Game tuner from Google play or galaxy apps.

And lower the resolution? or what?
Sometimes it is running @60fps (15% of the time), but most of the time it sucks, lagging, lag spikes, 30fps, I don't get it why. Cause the game can run @60fps without problems. I still didn't find any solutions...

How to run 60 fps our s7 edge

Every time i'm playing heavy 3d games lik Asphalt 8, Modern Combat, NBA 2k17 etc. it runs only at 30 fps i'm tired of playing with this fps only. i tried to enable game launcher also download game tuner but no luck. is there a way to reach 60fps?
Its up to the APP dev to make it run at a higher FPS. They do it for the iphone but Android unfortunately is left in the cold
yeah i noticed that after i made this thread i read a post that all games made from Warner bros. it can run 60 fps. i tried to install Mortal Kombat X and the result is real it can run at 60 fps. i just realized it is not because of android it because of optimization
i wonder why others dev need to make a game that limit to 30 fps for android? so sad

Oneplus 8 pro touch latency is bad for gaming

Hello everyone.
I have converted from Rog Phone 2 to Oneplus 8 Pro as the bottom port of my rog phone 2 got damaged and was giving hot temperature warning all the time. My model is IN2020. I am a gamer and I have noticed that as compared to rog phone 2 the touch is slow as I do not think it to be 240hz touch sampling rate at all. I play pubg at 90 fps using [email protected] and same display settings for COD Mobile but 60 fps. I can feel the slow touch response even while scrolling. I would like to know if someone has converted from gaming phone and having the same problem.
Thanks

As a gamer on pc and phones (emulators not the games you've mentioned) I play at 144hz and 200hz on a G-Sync Acer predator z35, but it's dependent on the game and if I can push those FPS, just because a screen is capable doesn't mean your CPU/GPU is.
I would recommend matching the game refresh rate.
You've got a 30fps overhead there PUBG and a 60fps overhead on cod.
Reduce the QHD to FHD, the difference is negligible.
If any of these games can actually run at 120hz then I'd recommend using 120hz, make sure game mode is on for these apps.
Make sure you are actually getting a locked 120fps not 90 or 60.
Remove any other motion smoothing for these apps, they won't help and will reduce input.

Well I have turned the display resolution to FHD+. The touch response is better now than QHD+.

Yep I found the same, that's input lag induced by the resolution though, not the touch display.
