I'm unlocked, rooted & encrypted. I'm on 9.0.1. I updated TWRP through TWRP. Now it's not asking for password to decrypt. Seems like I had this problem before, but can't remember how I fixed it. Thanks for any help.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. If I could see my files in TWRP, I would reinstall previous version or a different one to see if that would fix it.
Do I have to use ADB on a computer & lose my data? Or Sideload? Did it before, but can't recall.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean with: That's what I'm trying to figure out. If I could see my files in TWRP, I would reinstall previous version or a different one to see if that would fix it.
You won't loose any data by flashing twrp. Just flash the recommended codeworkx twrp with your current twrp by either fastboot or USB otg(USB Stick).

So I have the Nexus 6P rooted and unlocked. For some reason when I try to access files on my phone I can't find them via TWRP such as downloads to flash something. I went to advance and DATA cannot be checked. What should I do in order to resolve this so I can flash files from data?

Hello pospower,
I hope you are new to the community, so first of all, welcome to the Nexus 6P section.
I advise you to read the sticky threads here at the section. First in the list would be: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/questions-section-t3214020
Over to your query now. Bootloader has no relation to rooting, except one, that it should be unlocked. Unlocking the bootloader will enable you to flash TWRP recovery, which in turn would be used to flash SuperSU v2.71 flash-able zip.
For detailed instructions, please refer to section #1, #2, and #6 in the following thread: [GUIDE] Unlock/Root/Flash for Nexus 6P
I hope this helps. Best regards.

boot.img my bad i was refering to this below
Download the latest TWRP Recovery. Please note: if you're on MHC19I or above you must use TWRP 3.0.0-1 or above, otherwise TWRP won't be able to decrypt. Also, if you want to use TWRP with the Android N Developer Preview you must use TWRP 3.0.0-1 or above, and you must also flash the modified boot.img found here.
ok got twrp installed 3.0.2.0
flashed the boot.img from above post
flashed twrp.img
rebooted bootloader
rebooted into recocery but freezws on teamwin screen

TWRP is having issues with encrypted filesystems right now. You can either flash TWRP v3.0.0 or decrypt your 6P.
The decryption process should be carried out just after you flash the modified boot.img.
To decrypt, you will need to connect your device in bootloader mode and enter the following command:
Code:
fastboot format userdata
(Please note that this will wipe your complete internal storage).
OK got twrp working 3.0.0
Now it's asking for a password to get to decrypted files.
Any suggestions?

More than likely. A lot of people reported that after flashing Magisk via the zip in TWRP, the phone doesn't boot until you flash Magisk. I as well encountered this issue. If you flash TWRP and reboot recovery and then reboot to system you'll be stuck with a recovery loop until you flash Magisk. Hope this helps.
I'm trying to revert my oneplus 5 back to stock. I done all the steps got stock recovery installed. When I attempt to sideload original oos through adb sideload it keeps failing at 46%. Any advice would be very appreciated.. I've read so much and tried so many different things. I am completely stuck.

I got the phone from a friend and it has been completely wiped and formatted through TWRP. He did have a nougat custom ROM on it prior to that.
I tried to sideload to it with TWRP and it wouldn't work. I followed directions from a website that explains how to revert your op5 back to stock using stock recovery. I was trying to put the original oxygen OS ROM on it that came with the phone using the stock recovery and adb and fastboot. I'm thinking maybe I possibly downloaded the wrong OOS version. Who knows. Lol .
It had nougat Pure FusionOS 7.1.2. encrypted...SuperSU root and TWRP blue spark.
Now all it has is stock recovery with No OS
Would like to get OOS pie on it eventually.

You need to flash 5.1.4 at first to create the vendor partition like described here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/official-oxygenos-4-5-2-7-1-1-ota-t3627003 then you can flash 5.1.7. Yeah that's the same one I'm using I'm thinking maybe I don't have TWRP setup right is there any settings I'm supposed to go into?
Even when I check off everything in advanced wipe and do a wipe it comes up fine all the way to the end and then it says failed to mount vendor (invalid argument)
I liked everything again in TWRP I went to flash 514 and it works all the way up to the end and fails to mount vendor invalid argument.
Somehow I need to activate the vendor partition or something.
well I'm going back to reading like a madman and figure out if anybody else had this problem online. Lol thanks

You will more than likely need to format data. This will cause you to loose everything. But that is what you are seeing, those folders, are your data. Just encrypted.
Also make sure you are on the latest version of TWRP. Sometimes the older unsupported version had encryption errors.
Omg this saddens me! So there's no way I am unable to at least retrieve my pictures?

Did u flash rom or anything else before getting this problem ?
Yup, I sure did! 4am couldn't sleep so I thought I would finally put a fingerprint mod on; which I have done this before with no issues. For the life of me, I don't remember which mod I tried to install thru Magisk.
My phone is currently stuck on "Phone is starting"
I also think it's time to look into some sort of automatic back up service..... Got any ideas?

I did try to uninstall Magisk in twrp using adb shell. I never had any luck with that msmdownloadtool and not only that it relocks your bootloader.

I saw this happen when I used the official TWRP app.
It went away when I used this TWRP. Hope that helps.
I'm glad you already know not to use the MSM tool. Too many people jump straight to this.....
You just need to boot the correct recovery and your data will decrypt, and you will be able to back it up to a PC, then you can reload your ROM via TWRP or Fastboot to get the phone bootable again. So now it's a question of what ROM were you running before. Do you need a recovery with the latest security patch or something older? What TWRP are you running. Try 3.3.1-6 psychen6 linked too first. Boot that image from Fastboot. See if your password/pin will work to decrypt your data.
