Galaxy S3 Neo: new battery, phone shuts down immediately when not charging - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I couldn't find similar thread (or maybe just missed it) so I decided to create a new one.
Currently I'm using a battery that I have bought on AliExpress and it's swollen badly, probably because I have left the phone completely discharged for a year when I shattered the screen. I've bought another one from AliExpress and it looks just like the original one, has Samsung and EB-L1G6LLU written on it. However, when I put it inside a phone and try to turn it on "Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo" screen flashes for a split second and shuts down. When I have my phone connected to a wall charger, everything works fine, but the second I disconnect it, it shuts down immediately. I checked the voltage on both batteries, the one that was working fine(although swollen) reads 4,02 V and the one that doesn't has 4,03 V. I'm using stock Samsung OS on this phone. What could be wrong?

Atrix Black Screen

So Im a proud owner and enthusiast for the Atrix 4G (original only I cant stand any of the others released they did it best first time around). Ive had this phone with some minor problems for over a year. For a while the phone would randomly reboot in my pocket so long as it wasnt doing anything. If I were playing music on the device it wouldnt reboot but the second I stopped the music, put it in my pocket, and pulled it out it would be powered off. I reset the phone to factory (I had a flashed rooted rom on the device) and the problem stopped.
Now about 3-4 months later I made a phone call put the phone in my pocket to pull it out with a black screen. Now I thought the phone just died was all so I went in and plugged it in to the factory wall charger and to my surprise the LED came on and the phone chirped that it was charging. So it was actually still powered on. I tried looking at the screen from all angles and shined a light on it but there is no picture to be found anywhere. Otherwise the rest of the device (to the best of my knowledge) is still working properly. I could confirm this by my alarm going off in the morning and my in-ability to turn the alarm off due to a black screen.
Also ive pulled the battery, allowed the device to die, and have tried several chargers and other batteries I have so its not a battery or power issue. The screen also remains black on boot, you know the device is powered on once it boots into the OS and chirps that it has service.
Ive dis-assembled the phone to check all the cables in hopes that it would be a simple fix such as a loose cable however everything was double and triple confirmed to be plugged in and locked in place.
I had allowed the phone to die and waited a day or so with the battery pulled out once it had died and then plugged it in and allowed it to charge before powering it on for 30 minutes still to no avail. Ive even tried hard-naving to factory reset and still have had no luck.
I would like to purchase your dead phone for parts.

To me, it sounds like you have a broken LCD screen.

[Q] Problem with weeks old Samsung S4 Mini Dual Sim GT-19192

Hi guys
been a while since i got around to xda, knew i ll back sooner or later so here i am
bought a S4 mini dual sim GT19192 two months ago, great phone but since two days there's a crazy issue am facing
When i turn the phone off
As soon as it goes off starts vibrating with a second or two gap (feel like somehow its not totally off) and keeps doing so until battery is taken out, if i wanna turn it back on and put in the battery it starts the vibrating drama again, simply cant get it to stop vibrating/ cant turn it back on, the ONLY way to turn it back on is connect to laptop or charging unit via usb cable (the battery icon comes up, vibration stops, and can be turned on)
i did some research where this happened to a S3 phone, in most cases it was the power broken or stuck out of its place on the inside, so i opened up the back, took off the side that contains volume buttons power button, put the battery against the pins and bam same problem
this means each time i turn it off i need to connect to laptop or charging unit to turn it back on
can anyone please help?
just in case this set is in brand new condition never opened (till i did) and not rooted, hard reset dint help either
am really
anyone?
very disappointed to see no responses
I think it is a faulty battery problem.check your battery in another phone.

[Q] Tab doesn't show full charge until after it's restarted

Sorry if this question has been answered somewhere, I couldn't find it, but I didn't know exactly how to word it.
Anyways, I have a galaxy tab 4, the 7.0 one, and it's charging has been strange lately. I would plug it in when it got to around ten percent, and keep it in. Occasionally it would give me the message to plug in the charger despite it being plugged in, so I thought it might be a faulty charger.
Though after leaving it over night and having it only go up one or two percents, I restarted it, and when it came back on, it had 100% and after that, the battery percentage went down at a normal speed. When using the tablet when it was plugged in and didn't charge, it acted like a tablet normally would when it was going to lose battery (giving me the warning, dimming he screen, etc.).
Do you think this is a charger problem, or a problem with the tablet (or both)?
Note: my tablet has been dropped once onto a hard floor, but nothing happened to it that I've noticed other than the sd card popping out of place, which was easily fixed by just putting it back in and restarting. The charger cord has a few bites on it from forgetting it on the floor with my young dogs, but I noticed them quickly and stopped them, so there's only a few ltitle marks and none of them look deep enough to do much damage (though I've never had samung products before, so I don't know how tough their chargers are).
When in doubt, go ahead and get a new charger. (Keep it away from those dogs too.) If you have the same problem with your tablet, then a call to customer support may be in order.

Help! My Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Won't Turn On

Hi Everyone! I have a galaxy note 3 SM N9005 32GB. I've started facing a very weird problem recently that I cannot find described anywhere in quite the way I'm experiencing it.. My note 3 powered off by itself after running out of charge last night. Ever since then, the only thing that happens when I plug it in to charge is that the screen stays black and the phone only vibrates once. No charging LED indicator, nothing on the screen at all, just a black screen like when the phone is off. In order to get it to vibrate again, I have to do a power drain before connecting it back to a charger. There's nothing on the screen at all. Can't boot into recovery or download modes and it's not detected by a computer. Have tried multiple cables (USB 3.0 and 2) and have 2 batteries which were working fine till this happened.
Any idea of what's going on? And if I can back up any data from it like contacts and messages? Thankfully, I had transferred almost every app I could to the micro SD card (128GB Sandisk) and was able to at least recover my notes from colornote, but I digress. What is going on in my phone?
Additional info - the battery is probably still charging when I plug it in. I think this because the phone and the battery warm up after being plugged in for a little while just like they used to when the phone was working.
Even more additional info - I don't know if this is relevant, but I recently upgraded to the most recent OS version available. I think It's a 5.0 or something but I can't remember exactly. Also, the front camera stopped working some time after the upgrade. And 2 days before this, 2 apps refused to update for some reason. I don't know if this could be related.
TL;DR - Note 3 N9005 ran out of charge and is now almost dead with black screen and no LED but vibrates only once after plugging in or pushing the power button. To get it to vibrate again, a power drain needs to be done. The battery is still charging because it gets warm when plugged in.
I too had the same problem but when I connected the phone it would not even vibrate like completely dead.
Maybe try these:-
1)Connect it to the pc of it detects it then recovery would be easy.
2)Connect the charger properly.
3)remove battery for like 30 minutes and try the steps 1 and 2 again.
4) If still not working go to the dealer cause I had to go to him too. ?

I bought it off of amazon, any suggestions in such a case? Besides trying to send it back, I mean. Anything or tool I can try? I don't mind if it gets technical. Need to get my app data off the internal memory.
Though mine started with a different problem than yours, since today it seems like the problem is same like yours. Phone's display is totally black, yet I can go to download mode (cause phone is detected by Odin), I flashed the latest stock ROM of UK too, but now there is no change anyway. I want to be practical and think that this is a display problem, if not I will be more than happy. I have to send the phone to a local technician I know, lets see.
The only think I believe you can do is wait, for maybe 6-7 hours or so, with the battery detached, and then insert it back and see whether its booting with display on or not, if not its more likely a hardware issue, display possibly.

Galaxy S5 not powering up after the "Samsung Galaxy s5" screen appears

My perfectly working Galaxy S5 was put for charging at night and the phone wouldn't turn on in the morning. I tried restarting it and at times the "Samsung Galaxy S5 - powered by Android" flashes for a second or so and then the phone dies again.
I tried rebooting it, unplugged/replugged the battery, removed SIM and SD Card and tried to start the phone but nothing happens. On charging the phone, the screen does come up to show that the phone is being charged and as of now it is 100% but still won't power up.
I must add that the phone has had its share of falls during the 2 year usage and there is a small discoloration / crack like effect on the top left hand corner of the screen which however cannot be felt by hand by rolling my finger on the screen.
Samsung guys claim it a screen problem that needs to be replaced however an independent repairer is confident that screen is OK and it has something to do with some other hardware of the phone. He even removed the battery and connected a multi meter to the point on the phone which connects to the battery, tried starting the phone and the meter would show some current getting drawn and then come back to zero. He claims phone is not able to draw current from the battery.
Any clues what could be the problem and how to rectify it. I have loads of data I don't want to lose on the phone.

Can you boot into recovery? Have you tried flashing a new firmware on the phone?

Phone isn't responding at all. No matter what I do, at the most the Samsung screen flashes for like 30 seconds and then the phone dies again.
On connecting with a computer the computer begins to recognise the phone and starts installing drivers for the same however it never completes the job.
So not sure how to flash a new firmware if the phone isn't responding at all.
Bumping the thread.
Another reason for this behavior is that the battery has no charge. Battery can be damage and no have charge at all
I would in this order
do you have another S5 available?
exchange batteries and see behavior
do not have another S5 available?
try to charge with a universal wall charger.
or it seems you have a tester. Make sure your battery have charge
Checked battery too but that doesn't seem to have a problem. Tried with other batteries also.
A local repair shop told me there's a problem with the boot IC.
My follow up question is can I replace the mother board with another Galaxy S5 motherboard? Are all the motherboards of Galaxy S5 compatible with each other?
I'd be careful when changing the motherboard. You *DO* need to find a compatible board...In other words which ever variant you have should be the variant you look for to source the donor board.
Also, you say you have data you want to recover? Swapping out the motherboard will remove every possibility of recovering that data; as all the flash storage is contained on the motherboard.

How to locate a compatible motherboard? In other words how does one identify the variant of the phone?

Interesting piece of information.
I took the phone out almost after 8-9 months today. Tried to power it on by pressing the ON/OFF button and the phone came back to life without a glitch. There was almost 52% charge, date and time were spot on. I couldn't recall the pattern, as a result I couldn't unlock the phone.
I decided to wait for a while for my partner to come back and put in the correct pattern password and left the phone unattended for a while. In between I kept checking and the phone remained ON all the time.
Unfortunately, I decided to charge the phone while my partner returned. After half an hour or so I pulled out the charging cable and checked the phone for 1 last time. Phone was still ON. I left it untouched for a few more minutes.
As soon as my partner came back I told her about the phone coming back to life. She pressed the ON/OFF button to bring up the screen and key in the pattern but the screen just didn't come up. I have tried number of times since then but nothing.
Phone is dead again atleast as of now. Thinking of keeping it back for few more months and will try again.
In the meantime any sort of help will be highly appreciated.
Please note more than the phone I am keen on the data inside it. Need to recover it.
