Volume steps mod - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

Guys in MSM Xtended Rom there is a option where i can how many steps I want to up the volume or lower the volume. In normal or other rom (Now I am using picel experience) there is no option like that.
So is there any mod magisk or any othere with which i can setup volume up/down steps? Because in music playback on highest sound it gets too loud and when i lower it it gets too low i want in between so to adjust that i need more steps which is available in XTENDED rom but that rom has couple of issues so i switch to other rom
Please help listening to music with proper sound is a big issue for me.

There is a magisk module called "volume steps plus" tried it myself and it works.

Hy. I think I found a bug. If it has been mentioned yet, than I am sorry.
So. Sometimes the recent button is going to be silly and stucks as clear all button. Is there a way to change the clear all button's position?
Thanks.

So I really want to try your Rom out but I'm on d801. I tried booting up other d802 roms with no luck. Even after installing a d801 kernel first still had no luck. I saw another user sayin he installed it on his d800 by installing the render kernel first. Will this work on the d801 by first installing the render kernel?
Rom is good but need help with something.
Hi. I downloaded the rom succesfully. But there is one problem. When i lock the screen, it opens itself when i move or touch it. Any Help?
good works
turkish language support?
Problem
Hello guys, first off ... I'm pretty new at this whole Android custom ROMs, rooting thing. So I screwed up. I tried installing the DarkoBas PSD ROM via ADB. My LG G2 D802 was rooted using StumpRoot app, then I couldn't get to the Recovery Reboot so I used an app, that worked and I wiped data and cache ... Couldn't find the Dalvik cache so I left that out. Next thing I connected it to the PC via USB cable and sent the .zip file through ADB, it took a while but it was transfered ok, the phone started preping itself and then the installation stopped and something like "Unable to unmount /sdcard" and "Unable to unmount /system". I thought "damn it, I'm gonna have to stick with the stock ROM". But it was even worse, after reboot the phone doesn't start up... When I hold down the PWR button the LG logo pops up and after few seconds a text appears under it saying "Security Error". And that's it, I can't get to the Recovery mode or Download mode (not that I could before). It doesn't even get detected by Windows, no 15HDDs or wrong ID in device manager, nothing. The only thing I can do is get to the "Factory data reset" (which doesn't help BTW) by pressing vol. Down and PWR, after the logo pops up I let go and hold vol. Up and Down... Guys it's bad and I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.
dont worry you will be able to recover. just seek help in those kind of threads, because this isnt rom specific. basicaly what u need to do is use the lg flash tool to flash stock again and then start over.

i love the black theme!!
I find your work very well. go on like this. can you tell me when the next build comes out for lgg2
there has appeared an error. the display flickers and it was all black and white on the display and then the phone is turned off and turned on again by itself. can you please fix the next build. everything else is great. did great. just please fix this error. thank you man
Hy!
In the Layers app, can I set custom icon packs like Flex?
And if I can, how?
Thanks.
"Power button ends call" seems to be an option within 2 menus, Settings - Remix Settings - Buttons and Soft Keys, as well as Settings - Accessibility. They also don't seem to be synced.
One option remains off while the other remains on.
I appreciate your hard work and time spent on this ROM @darkobas.
May I also add, link ringtone & notification volumes option is not working for me when enabled. Ringtone is on low, option is enabled, yet notifications are coming in at a much higher volume.
Just letting you know, I can live with setting them individually but thought I'd share my experienced bugs so far.

hey that's good ... finally there's someone out there having the same problem as me ...
do you know already what kind of problem it could be ? baseband, build , or kit kat / lollipo problem ?

Hello! First of all Thanks for your EXCELLENT WORK.
Please help me and mb some other headset users.
Long time ago on .32 kernel and some .35 kernels I used wired single button headset and it worked well. Now I want to use it again, and encountered a weird problem: pressing button leads to nothing visible, can't change track or answer call. Tried to remap buttons with apps or with this guide [GUIDE] Take Back Your Headset Controls! and still nothing. One thing I noticed. in Keytest App when I press headset button it looks like
Code:
keyCode=KEYCODE_HEADSETHOOK
scanCode=226
but also
Code:
repeatCount
constantly increasing, like I'm clicking button extra fast. So, once button pressed, Keytest app can't recognize this button press anymore.
Also I'm not sure that headset mic is used by rom, "force internal mic" option is disabled. What setting should I check to ensure that phone uses headset mic?
I checked headset on my wife's phone and it's work like it should.

The HuaweiSettings/IDEOSX5Settings force internal mic allows to use the phone's microphone even when headset is connected. It should not make a difference in your case.
The headset configuration is very similar to stock, however, you can try using alternate headset config. Try writing "1" or "2" (without quotes) to /d/msm_hsed_config file (with ADB or terminal emulator; via file manager could work too). This selects between different headset types. I don't have any other clues besides this though :/.
Hi @Blefish,
Many thanks on accomplishing this EPIC work
I am really grateful coz due to you this device is still alive.
1 question, while flashing the zips LMV & CM12 ROM, do we need to select zip verification or we can just skip these?
2 question, is this GAAPS file fine to flash with CM12 - pa_gapps-modular-pico-5.0.1-BETA5-20141225-signed.zip
I have downloaded all the files and await your reply

What do you mean by zip verification? Do you mean the TWRP option in it's settings? Currently LVM install script is not signed so you shouldn't turn it on.
The gapps you mentioned is fine, I am using micro and I believe mini setup should flash too. They have done a very nice job with the gapps script so it will tell you if there is something wrong.
Yes @Blefish, I was referring to the TWRP zip verification. Anyway, I did install the new twrp, LMV and your new ROM with GAAPs. All went well and I'm now on CM12.
Miss the theme engine and xposed though but I guess we all can wait until we get ur next release. I am aware xposed isn't compatible yet with A5.
Thanks for your brilliant work. Will keep you posted on any issues if I find down the line.
Thanks again

Ambient Display
My lock screen is black, it doesn't have the background image, from what I understand this means Ambient Display is enabled, but in the options there's no place to turn it off.
How can I fix this?

This is because the phone has low-ram setting enabled. You can try overriding it in Settings->Performance (high end gfx). Frankly I believe even low-ram devices should show wallpaper in lock screen and when sliding down notification panel.
I don't know if we can support ambient display, I think it's intended for AMOLED displays.

wanted to do repartition and was successful, did it with the 2.3 partition.
since on it, wanted to install this Unofficial Cyanogenmod 12.0 [5.0.2] but couldn't, said failed. try'd it with the alternative recovery, TWRP Recovery [v2.8.3.0], nothing.
with this last recovery didn't even manage to be able to wipe to factory presets thing. now, I have recovery 5.5.0.4 cwm, 2.3 partition successfully done, and back to (working) aurora-sp.
What happen?

Check the requirements. You are required to install LVM. However next release will probably be supporting LVM and non-LVM configs.

Getting the most off your OnePlus X with a custom ROM (Rooting and intalling Xposed)

Hey there every one! This is a kind of thread which I was looking for when I first came to forums.xda. And I am pretty sure that everyday there are hundreds of people having their first visit here and are looking for something like I did. Anyway, let's get to it.
There are a lot of custom ROMs for OnePlus X, which is also known as Onyx. Every ROM is good in its own way and hence it becomes tough for flashaholics to choose one certain ROM. Below I'll be mentioning a couple of ROMs, and their distinctions followed by the threads' links. And these are just my opinions. If you have something better in mind, feel free to drop 'em below!
If you want to install Xposed on your phone, get to the bottom of this thread to the section marked 'Next'.
Before proceeding further, you need to root your phone, unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery. DON'T PANIC IT'S EASY AF. Just go to this link, read everything carefully and once you're done with all the steps, come back here. https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...om-recovery-root-take-efs-backup-more.401713/
BALANCED BATTERY LIFE+PERFORMANCE - Android Ice Cold Project (AICP):
If you want to enjoy what Xposed and root access is capable of, but also want to increase your battery life significantly, this is the ROM for you.
1) Download links of the ROM are given at the official thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/development/rom-android-ice-cold-project-11-0-t3330123
2) After downloading it, copy it to the root directory, i.e., the internal storage of your phone. (SD Card would consume a lot of time) And make sure you have at least 60% charge.
3) Turn off your phone, and wait for the last vibration. After that, first hold the volume up button, and then the power/lock button until the phone vibrates again.
4) Once you boot into the custom recovery, either CWM or TWRP, tap install and navigate to the downloaded ROM in your internal storage. Reboot to system.
5) Tadaa! Your new ROM is working fine. But it's not over yet. After your phone is done booting up, switch it off again and boot into recovery. Find the next step at the bottom of this post, marked 'Next'. Keep in mind that we will be using the 'BluSpark' kernel for this.
BEST PERFORMANCE - Ressurection Remix:
This ROM is my personal favourite. This ROM has more features than any other ROMs I have come across and has water-like fluidity at the same time. The battery life isn't very significantly less than Android Ice Cold Project, but it is considerably less. And come on, you have to sacrifice battery for performance anyway.
1) Download links of the ROM are given at the official thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/development/rom-resurrection-remix-t3334655
Keep in mind that we will be using the 'Intoxicated Boeffla' kernel for this.
BEST BATTERY LIFE - Purity
This ROM isn't as amazing as Ressurection Remix, but its potential will definitely amaze you to bits. Despite being a comparatively light ROM, it still has almost all the features you could wish for. And this ROM is said to have the best battery life by a lot of flashaholics like me. And this ROM has fluid fast performance, so you can do everything in a breeze without even having to think twice.
1) Download links of the ROM are given at their official download site here https://basketbuild.com/filedl/devs?dev=DariosF&dl=DariosF/Onyx/purity-6.0.1-20160723-onyx.zip
Keep in mind that we will be using the 'Arsenic' kernel for this.
Next:
1) a)IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO USE ANDROID ICE COLD PROJECT/AICP (BALANCED BATTERY LIFE+PERFORMANCE)
Download BluSpark for CM/CyanogenMod http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/orig-development/kernel-t3250995
b) IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO USE RESURRECTION REMIX (BEST PERFORMANCE):
Download Intoxicated Boeffla from http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/development/kernel-intoxicated-boeffla-t3384468
c) IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO USE PURITY (BEST BATTERY LIFE)
Download Arsenic from http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/development/kernel-arsenic-kernel-r2-t3422020
2) Download Xposed framework, make sure you download the Xposed installer.apk and when you're downloading the framework make sure the version is SDK-23 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
3) Install the specified kernel following the same methods you've used to flash the ROM, and then reboot.
4) If you are a regular Snapchat user, download Snapchat and login to your account before carrying out this step. After you're done, switch off your phone once again, and reboot into recovery (Volume up + lock/power buttons again, dear flashaholic ).
5) This time install Xposed (same old method, boot to recovery). And then reboot to system. It will take some time, so don't worry about it, UNLESS, you messed up in following the instructions I gave.
4) After the phone boots up, open Play Store, download Amplify & Greenify. After that open the Xposed application, go to modules and select Greenify and Amplify. Then boot your phone, and open the 2 applications, they'll do the rest. Enjoy your new ROM!
P.S.: I can change your life magically. Do you know how? By telling you this; there's a certain module, which enables YouTube to keep playing even when you switch to another app or lock your phone. Just open the Xposed application, go to downloads, and you'll see a search bar on the top right. Type 'YouTube' and scroll through the results until ou find 'YouTube Background Playback'. Install it, activate it and reboot your phone. Yeah, yeah, welcome. Have a nice day! By the way, I am a home-based rapper, singer & producer. And if this post helped you in anyway, as a token of saying thanks, check out my songs and maybe subscribe to pimp me up JK. It would mean a lot to me. Here's the link to a song from my channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YnxHeE3QE4 Happy flashing!

In my opinion, you should also include viper4android installation and simple configuration (along links to a decent documentation about it) in this tutorial, that app does wonders, same goes to sultan's camera hal flashable.
I also think you should also promote the use of custom kernels, especially Swell Kernel, that one is a beast.

It's one of the smoothest ROM . I think this ROM has been longest on my phone. Default dark theme is good and it has substratum theme engine so you can theme according to your choice. Try it, that's the only way you can find out.
This is great for people who are about to get into flashing. I actually saw this post to see what some good roms to use were. Only thing you should add to this is reminding them to flash gapps. Also i checked out your music. you're pretty good! and you should keep striving in what you do.

[GUIDE] How To Install ARISE On Pixel XL 8.0 Oreo

DISCLAIMER: I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE.
So, after countless hours of tinkering and searching around the forums, I was able to successfully install V4A and Dolby onto my Pixel XL.
I realized after a while, I realized that there were many others like me who wanted this, but some were not as vigilant and gave up as the process was different depending on who you asked and everyone was giving mixed results.
I decided that I could give back a bit to the community by writing up a step-by-step tutorial on how to do this.
Even after I installed V4A successfully, I, against my own sanity, wiped my phone again and followed my own steps one by one to ensure it worked.
SO, WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, here's what I did...
STEP 1: Back up all data. Unless you don't care about that junk, then move right along.
STEP 2: Download the factory image from here: Oreo Factory Images for Pixel XL
STEP 3: Follow the steps to unlock the bootloader (guide #3) and to install the factory image (guide #4 or #5). LINK TO GUIDES BY Homeboy76
STEP 4: Follow the steps to root the device systemlessly (guide #8) LINK TO GUIDES BY Homeboy76
STEP 5: Install this BusyBox, on the top right corner, tap the 3 dots, go to settings, set the install path to /sbin/supersu/xbin and then install BusyBox.
STEP 6: Download and flash ARISE Aroma and choose what you want through the Aroma installer. (The last options I kept default, the ones that are about removing deep buffer and all the ones following that, yes, this means set SELinux to permissive, it's one of the last options, this does, indeed break SafetyNet, so if Android Pay is a must have, I would not recommend continuing.)
STEP 7: Reboot to system and enjoy better sound!
I'm no developer, I take no responsibility for the development of any of the above linked or mentioned applications. All credits go to those hardworking developers, much thanks to them! However, if this guide did help, please feel free to thank and leave a reply and share this to those who are also in the search for better audio!

If this works, you are a God! I can't find Arise aroma installer in that post you linked. Are you running Dolby in permissive or is that the original one by worstenbrood?

Here's the direct link to ARISE aroma: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767141554
It's the first link in the post that I linked.
And at the end of the aroma installation, it asks if you want to set SELinux to Permissive and I just set that to yes, since that's the default value.
I installed only V4A and Dolby and they both work fine.

Thanks, I forgot what a convoluted mess that ARISE OP is. Lol. Might want to mention the permissive for Dolby in your OP. Let you know if it works. Im confident you got it. ?

Haha, thanks man, and no problem, took me a while to find it myself. Best of luck to you!
And yeah, that's what I meant by keeping everything default, since I can't remember what the exact values and options were off the top of my head now while I'm writing this up at work lol. But I'll add that part in there in a bit. :fingers-crossed:

No problem! That's the great part of this community, everyone out here (well, most of us) to help each other out.
Plenty of times I've benefited from other's hard work and write ups, just trying to pay it back in full now.
Enjoy the music my friend, I sure have. It was between buying new speakers for my car or just putting in some time to figure out how to get this to work
I'll confirm that following this guide to the T will indeed get you working ARISE/V4A on your Oreo Pixel XL. Instead of using the ARISE version in the first post I used Magnum Opus 9/8 so I'm not sure it maters what ARISE version you use so long as it's fairly current.

Glad to hear it!
I tried with Opus for a while, and it didn't work once for me, so it might be hit or miss, but I'm happy it's working for ya'll!
Has anyone tried this with a custom kernel?

I didn't try it on a custom kernel, but from my understanding, it should work, at least that's what I found when searching about.

Elemental Kernel has a volume mod itself.

I had Arise installed then at some time my phone reboot (possible kernel panic?) and when I unlocked my phone it asked me to disable Arise. Now I have to do this process all over again.

Google Play Protect thinks it's malware and automatically disables it. Everything is still there. Go into app settings and enable it again. Everytime it scans apps this will happen. I have to find away around this or disable Google play protect.

Don't worry, as Golf c has said, it'll be there, you can ignore the warnings. I got these a few days in as well and just ignored them and everything was fine.

Looking into what we can do about this, but honestly, I think it's fine to just ignore the warning whenever it pops up.
Thanks to this mod and you friend. Working good...

Ya I'm on ex kernel and it works fine.
Couldn't make it work with Magisk. Might have to go back to SuperSU. Can't live without it for too long.

viper4android in RUI .. finally

Wait is over..
Installing viper in Realme UI is a nightmare..
Now it's a piece of cake..
Needed:
1. OS - Realme UI
2. Magisk 20.3 or above
3. Titanium apk
4. Overlay mount fix 2.1 magisk module
5. Viper module 2.7.1.6 magisk module
6. Root explorer
Steps:
1. Install Titanium apk and freeze Dolby apps ( 2 entries will there)
2. Install overlay in magisk and don't reboot
3. Install viper in magisk and don't reboot
4. Open viper app and provide root permission and install the drivers and reboot
5. After reboot open the viper app it shouldopen successfully but now WiFi ,camera, hotspot ,screen rotation will not work ( may be many things will not work but viper will work fine )
6. Now go to magisk and disable the overlay ( don't delete the module) and reboot
7. After reboot everything will work fine but viper app will say driver not found
8. Now open root explorer and go to location
/data/adb/modules/overlayfix , you will find 2 folders system and vendor , delete the culprits.. both..
9. And enable the overlay in magisk and reboot
10. Now everything should be working fine including viper will open successfully along with drivers installed
For C06 update
1. Follow steps till 5
2. In Step 6 , don't reboot
3. Skip step 7
4. Follow step 8 till end
Enjoy fellows
Tested in devices/version
1. Realme xt C05, C01
2. Realme 5 pro
Not sure on other version..may be you can try..
If any bootloops during restart then follow
https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-xt/how-to/remove-magisk-module-cause-bootloop-t4093111
For autostart viper for every boot :You can enable startup in viper app info setting
It may work on realme.5.pro?

Use root explorer.
Then locate the folder
/data/adb/modules/overlayfix
Check if you installed overlay magisk module in magisk
If you have already deleted the folders then chk if viper is working fine

Which Rui version, which phone model?
Have you installed any other magisk modules?
If you disable the overlay in magisk , gravity gyroscope working?
Hi, Thanks for your response.
I tried disabling the modules.
Right now I am again in Stock rom, Realme UI RMX1921_11_C.05, it has replaced my Orangefox recovery and I have unlocked bootloader.
I remember the fingerprint stopped working after unlocking bootloader and rooting, this is also one of the issue now.
Have gone through net that I should not lock bootloader again or i will end up again in crashing the bootloader.
I know how to flash stock firmware with MSM but it asks for username and password.

Can you try viper method again and try ...delete both viper and overlay in magisk and try..
Alternate to V4A
If someone is looking for hassle free way with alternative for V4A ..Try Wavelet app full version ...Its sounds Engine for bluetooth is top notch almost good as V4A.
optimizations are way good from well know tuned sources to choose from.

Hi....I don't have any laptop to format as of now....but today I tried otg and it is also not supporting now. :'(
I've faced 2 things
1. when searching in titanium for dolby can't find 2 items , i found one item named "dolby on 1.1.0"
and freezed it.
2. after installing modules ,opening viper it asks for root permissions that i agreed for it and it rebooted to install drivers , but after reboot it seems the driver not installed and ask for installing again.
What the problem with that ?
My Phone is R5 Pro global 128/4 On update C.05.
