Yeah, there were quite a few bugs with 1.2.8. I had to send a full bug report to Motorola, as did others.
Some issues included:
Notifications not working with certain apps
AN failing to wake the screen when device was moved
AN failing to wake the screen when a notification arrived
AN failing to open an app from the AN screen
Active display STILL doesn't show any notifications for me.

I turned off active display because any movement and it would turn on the clock and catch my eye which is very distracting and annoying, anyway to disable that without disabling the whole feature?
Mine was working perfect, did a factory reset to try and fix the high android OS usage and now it's not working. This is very annoying.

If you go into the Apps side of the Activity Display you should be able to un-check the Clock and it won't show it anymore.

I did that. Then remembered I took the Navigation buttons out via the Build.prop and had a hell of a time trying to reinstall everything without them. I use LMT Pie Controls so I had to reinstall them through the Play Store before I could reinstall all my other apps. I then took LMT Pie Controls and made them flashable so that the next time I do a factory reset I can just reinstall them via recovery.
What irks me most is that half my notifications aren't working a week after buying the phone. When they worked the day I got it. Gmail doesn't show up, 1Weather doesn't show up, the battery no longer shows up. Outlook does and Messaging does. I know Motorola said there was a problem with 1Weather not working properly but the day I set my phone up a little over a week ago it worked. Now all of a sudden it doesn't, and Gmail should work but doesn't.
Also, does the image verification thing for the forum ever go away? It's kind of a PITA to remember it's there when I post. Guys, I'm not a robot. Seriously.
I turned off the sleep function of active display and now my notifications are working. I haven't tried turning it back on to see if it would work but just something to try for those who are having an issue.

Did you reboot the phone after updating? It's a highly integrated system function. It should require a reboot after updating. I noticed it acted the same as 1.2.8 until I restarted the phone.

Turn the phone face down or cover the proximity sensor face-up.
Just a suggestion. When some apps get updated like line app and some other apps, they get unchecked in that active notification select apps menu/setting. I have to go back and manually check them again to show up on active display.

I'll have to try this.
I've updated AOD (Always On Display) via Galaxy Apps to version 1.4.02, and since then, most of the time, AOD is at full brightness, even when my device in my pocket, it takes long for the screen to turn off like it should.
I'm not sure if this specific version is buggy or it is something else, but when i'm using my phone, brightness is OK.
Anyone who updated it too can confirm its related to the AOD update?
I'm just afraid of screen burns and battery drain.
I just set a note pad on the top part of my screen to block the sensor and mine dims in 1 minute by my count and goes completely blank a few seconds after that. Try this with yours.

I'm experiencing the same problem after update and its killing battery really fast so turn off for now until next update hoping they'll fix it
my screen is not going pure dark on always on display... preview of always on screen theme is good and the backuground is pure dark, but when i lock the screen, it looks little bit grey colored background.
how can i fix it? i'm on new firmware (1.4.02)
mine was different case....when it's on AOD the automatic bright sensor doesn't work.when it's active on dark room AOD was dark & when it's active on bright room AOD was always bright.how can i fix this issue?
And one more thing the new update changelog show now its support clear view case.but it's not working.when i close the cover it doesn't show the picture which i selected on AOD setting.its show only the time like before the update.

I glad to hear its version related and not my sensor or something like that.
Actually, a lot of people experiencing problems with this version, not only this problem.
I hope they will fix it soon.
By the way, do you know what the previous version was? I would like to search for an APK, maybe i'll uninstall the updates and install the good one.

You can't uninstall I tried it. I can't remember the last version but try download any version lower than the last and don't forget to uncheck auto update

You can uninstall all updates you did
go to settings, app manager, 3 dots, show system apps, find "always on display", 3 dots again, uninstall updates.

It about stops me from doing uploading pictures, downloading. It's driving me crazy anyone else having this problem?
Yea lots of people are. Anything that changes the status of the screen like some kind of screen filter like twilight, night owl, any of those things, can mess with this. It's been pretty annoying. I have Twilight set to a timer to eliminate blue light on the screen before sleeping and I have to freeze and defrost it several times a day. Apparently it's an issue with ZTE. There is a thread over there about it.

I guess that it should actually be a security feature to prevent an overlay app from abusing any open apps below it... but it is really annoying that the ZTE integrated feature Mi-POP will also make this warnings display... you can simply deactivate it through its notification bar shortcut but it's still annoying...

Screen overlay is new in 6.0 to prevent apps from creating an overlay and giving permissions to themselves. It's not an issue with ZTE.
Yes screen overlay is new. Came from a N6 and never had this problem on stock 6.0 from Google. Facebook messenger will not do anything other than message can't call, or send pictures. Yes it is a problem with ZTE

Go to the "Apps" setting, and then click on the "gear-shaped" setting button to go to the "Draw over other apps" menu and turn off all apps that are enabled. Go back to the "Apps" setting and click on the app that needs permissions modified. When all the permissions are updated, go back and enable the "Draw over other apps" for those apps you disabled.
Use this app it will get rid of that annoying overlay issue.

I am currently using Oreo March security patch, and the notification such as new messages, emails do not pop up but only show the icon of the app on the top left Conor which makes me feel uncomfortable. I have turned off the edge lighting and all the app notifications are on. But it just wouldn't pop up. Only after I reboot the phone then it works again. I also have tried to force stop the message app, not working well.
Anyone has similar experience? PLS help

Sometimes when I pick up my phone after it's been sitting at my desk neither the double tap to wake or the power button will wake my device. Anyone else experienced this?
(I did search for this to see if it was asked already but did not find a thread)

Been having this issue since I got it. None of the updates have resolved it. 9.0.7 hasn't been as bad as 9.0.6 was, but it still happens at least once a day. Haven't updated to 9.0.10 yet. This is my only real gripe I have with this device so far.
I have mine set to tap once on screen to wake up. Sometimes I get this where I need to press power button to wake up.

Me to
I have checked with both single tap and double tap, both of them aren't perfect. Miss mostly when phone is idle for too long. Have to use power button in those cases.
I have had the same issue on both 9.0.7 and beta 1. Sometimes tapping the screen does nothing. The phone does not wake up and i have to got the power button (I have it set on single tap to wake).
I suspect it could have something to do with pocket mode.
I have the same problem. Disabling pocket mode did not resolve the problem.

That's it then. I had the same issue from the start. Even replaced my unit for it. But its basically oos killing apps in order to save battery. And it kills our beloved nova too. It was solved for me after i root my device and grant nova root permissions. If u dont wanna root try using the default launcher for few days and see if the problem still persists.

This happens, in my case, with the default launcher from OnePlus.
I'm on full stock unrooted beta1, and had the same issue on 9.0.7.
Hasn't happened in a few days though.
