So i just bought my Lg G2 a few days ago, i instantely rooted it and installed Vanir, things have been great minus a few small bugs...but being i am a crack flasher i tried a few other roms such as Omni, Beanstalk and more but when i try these other roms i have no issues except that they always boot themselves on when you charge them..you can turn the rom off, plug it in and surely enough it automatically boots itself up, i've tried plugging it in then turning it off and the results are the same. the only rom that will charge while off and remain off is Vanir but i have experienced a few small bugs on then
ANYWAY the main resaon I started this thread is because every and any kernel i try to flash doesnt flash, they all fail...can anyone shed some light as to why all the kenels are failing on me?
Which kernels are you flashing? Which variant are they for? Erich variant do you have?

If you are using TWRP, flash Philz touch recovery (see android original development). It may be a recovery issue.

Bump
Does anyone have any idea why I can flash majority of the roms available but I cannot flash one single custom kernel?
I've tried the latest TWRP. an earlier version and i've tried Philz touch...none of which will allow me to flash any of these custom kernels available for my VS980....and yes the kernels are meant for said device. There is also maybe one or two roms that won't flash either
sorry to bump this again but i still cannot get any kernels to flash
I am certainly rooted as i have flashed multiple roms but are there any other steps or processes i need to do in order to flash a kernel on this phone? i've owned about 9 android phones and every time i've rooted and unlocked the bootloader, installed a custom recovery i was able to flash roms and kernels with ease...as i've mentioned i've tried different versions of recoveries and everythng and no mattter what every kernel i try to flash fails...its not the end of the world but i would really like to try some of these custom kernels out and dunno how to do it...
am i missing something?
so after trying some roms out and some modems, after some errors i had to revert back to the 4.4 leak. now it wont let me flash any custom stuff, i had it working fine but now after rooting the leaked firmware and installing custom recovery i can flash things but when it resets it just sits at a black screen and reboots. i dont kno whats happening but i hate being stuck on the leak as its not completely stable

It's too late, once you odin flash the 4.4 leak you cannot downgrade back
to 4.3/4.2 stock or custom roms.
You will have to wait until the official 4.4 official firmware comes about.
Good luck!
It was working before though. I tried the 4.4 leak and then was using custom 4.3 roms so.thats not true. I know stock roms won't work. I just can't figure out why it suddenly stopped working. I'm hating the 4.4 leak
I originally tried the 4.4 leak and then after some bugs and things i rooted it and flashed TWRP and flashed a few custom 4.3 roms. All which worked fine. Then after trying a few 4.3 modems i can flash a custom rom but when it reboots it doesnt show that text in the top corner and the screen stays black and eventually reboots. It was working and now its not. Anyone got any ideas?

Edit: i got it working again, all i needed was a custom kernel and now my custom 4.3 roms work again
Hi!
After months of using my S4, I decided to flash custom ROM and kernel. Unfortunately, after flashing KT-SGS4 kernel, my phone gets stuck in Galaxy S4 logo and keeps flashing blue LED. I've tried using CM11 and AOKP, same results.
I hope, someone know how to fix it, thanks!

You have to factory reset when installing a custom rom

I know, I'm always doing cache and data wipe. Roms are working correctly, but when i try to change kernel, this happens.
Then you are flashing the wrong kernel. There are 3 different types of that kernel.

I tried all of them in case if this one was wrong, maybe if there is said aosp, aokp is out of reach.

Yes bro it is due to custom kernel
Hi guys, I'm pretty new to custom roms and this forum so feel free to delete/move thread if i've posted in the wrong area.
Phone: Samsung J5 SM-J500FN
I am having trouble flashing custom roms. I have rooted my device, installed TWRP and got to the point where I can install the rom. After installing the rom through TWRP when I reboot the phone I get the classic boot screen then it freezes, I get a yellow line across the screen and the screen goes bright green and full of what look to be dead pixels. I have attempted to install Lineage, Aosp extended and Ressurection Reloaded and have had the same result with all 3. I have been able to reinstall back to stock each time. Is it possible to maybe get some tips on where I may be going wrong here? Thank you in advance.

Are you sure you're using the stock firmware required?
Some custom roms, like the 7.1.2s almost all of the threads tells you you need LL 5.1.1 before flashing the custom rom.
Or some need 6.0.1. Are you sure you're reading all the instructions correctly?

Thanks for the response mate, I did a bit more reading after posting this and found that out My own fault. I am currently downgrading to Lollipop 5.1.1 using odin but now it's stuck on the samsung logo on boot up after odin has done its bit. Maybe it just takes ages to install but I wouldn't be surprised if I've done something else wrong
