so after trying some roms out and some modems, after some errors i had to revert back to the 4.4 leak. now it wont let me flash any custom stuff, i had it working fine but now after rooting the leaked firmware and installing custom recovery i can flash things but when it resets it just sits at a black screen and reboots. i dont kno whats happening but i hate being stuck on the leak as its not completely stable

It's too late, once you odin flash the 4.4 leak you cannot downgrade back
to 4.3/4.2 stock or custom roms.
You will have to wait until the official 4.4 official firmware comes about.
Good luck!
It was working before though. I tried the 4.4 leak and then was using custom 4.3 roms so.thats not true. I know stock roms won't work. I just can't figure out why it suddenly stopped working. I'm hating the 4.4 leak
I originally tried the 4.4 leak and then after some bugs and things i rooted it and flashed TWRP and flashed a few custom 4.3 roms. All which worked fine. Then after trying a few 4.3 modems i can flash a custom rom but when it reboots it doesnt show that text in the top corner and the screen stays black and eventually reboots. It was working and now its not. Anyone got any ideas?
Deleted
Edit: i got it working again, all i needed was a custom kernel and now my custom 4.3 roms work again

hey guys.
i have already noted on another thread that i was looking for a cwm flashable, stock but rooted 4.4. apparently there isnt one yet apart from the ones people have tried to create themselves.
i then realised though that i should check my bootloader incase it was of importance when i manage to find the above file to flash.
i am on bootloader 3.41 and android 4.3. would this matter when i find the right stock rom?
thanks
Just flash stock 4.4 and root it later.
i found a stock one as suggested in one of the threads on here and flashed via cwm. all went well and i then re rooted.
i have, however, noticed that the system seems more sluggish and even when restarting, it takes longer to get everything such as widgets to display on screen.
hi guys.
again i am looking for a stock rooted 4.4.2 as it is annoying me to keep being reminded to update from 4.4.
i can either do as before and get a stock 4.4.2 and root myself unless anyone is aware of a stock rooted rom?
thanks

Hi there,
I have a Galaxy S4 i9505 with official Samsung 4.3 Stock ROM from a different country which I had flashed using ODIN a while ago. I already have my knox counter tripped to 0x1 because I had also installed custom recovery and rooted.
Would I be able to flash CM11 (Android Version 4.4) on to this and then if I don't like it or want to return back to this exact version I have now by a Nandroid backup, could I?
I have searched around and can't seem to find the answer and want to get rid of Touchwiz (like nearly everyone else)
Baseband Version: i9505XXUEMK8
Build Number: JSS15J. I9505XXUEMK8
Thank you in advance

Yes you can easily return back to the saved nandroid backup you have in recovery
I first started on cm11 before picking a daily ROM that was suitable for me
Happy flashing

I have read somewhere that if the build number is updated then you cannot downgrade or something?
Was yours a knox enabled rom and have you tried going back to it?

Apparently once you update to 4.4.2 you can't downgrade to 4.3 but IMHO why you would want to go back is beyond me ? Mine was on Knox after 4.3 ota but took the plunge & glad I did & wouldn't need to go back to an outdated OS. My baseband has stayed mk9 even after trying a few ROMs & love the smoothness of Google edition ROMs over cm11
I would suggest making the move over to kk & trying a few ROMs out there.

I have been on CM10.1 before and the only reason I went back to Touchwiz was because there was bugs with it and that's the same reason I might want to go back if I flash it now so I just want to be sure
I was thinking that if I update and my baseband/build number stay the same then I might be able to downgrade again if I wanted to later?
Absolutely hate Touchwiz right now but everything works too

I wouldn't like to say that if baseband stays same that you could go back for sure ? Touchwiz is just too bloated IMO that's why I decided on a custom ROM ?
I found cm11 okay but feel that kk GE is so much fluid :highfive:
I think it isn't possible to go from a knox-enabled rom to one without knox?
So I have knox-enabled 4 right now and guessing when I go on CM11 it'll still be there so when I try to downgrade I should be able to?
As it's not going from 4.3 (knox-enabled) to 4.2 (knox-disabled) but from 4.4 (knox-enabled?) to 4.3 (knox-enabled)
I'm not really sure but can someone give us some help .

So you was able to go from one CM11 to GE which both are on 4.4?
I think I'll update to stock 4.4 and then from there create another nandroid and move about ROMs? Would that work?

If you needed to go back would you go back to an official 4.4 or 4.3 then?
Do you think it would be a good idea to just titaniumbackup everything and Nandroid and flash cm11 and so if there are any problems I could just flash stock 4.4 and install all the apps back via titanium backup?
Would there be a problem with the bootloader?

If I needed to go official I would flash back to 4.3 as that's what I'm meant to be on.
Always make a backup before flashing that way you can reinstall.
Can't see a problem with bootloader even if you had to flash official I would just use chainfire to gain recovery/root again ?

But this new knox thing on the S4 means you can't downgrade the bootloader or something. So I think going from 4.4 to 4.3 is downgrading the bootloader? And so would risk bricking your device which is why I don't want to attempt it unless someone has done it and had to problem

You are already on the new bootloader with Knox triggered so there is no downgrading to old bootloader.
You are safe to stay on 4.3 but if you put 4.4 or cm11 on your phone you may not be able to go back to an earlier version?
Hi, I hope I can clear something here. If you are on stock 4.3, rooted and Knox 0x1, you can flash cm and you can restore your 4.3 backup. If you once triggered your Knox to 0x1, it's not possible to get it back to 0x0.
If you flash a stock Samsung 4.4.2 KitKat with the new KitKat bootloader, you can restore any custom 4.3 ROM. You can not flash a 4.3 stock ROM with Odin once you are on the KitKat bootloader. In this case you have to flash a stock KitKat ROM.
Another thing: if you now are on a 4.3 bootloader and you flash a 4.4 ROM, it could break wifi. But there are fixes possible with editing the build.prop.
So fact is, no matter what ever you do, if your Knox is already 0x1, it's not possible to get back to 0x0.

Hi there and thanks for your help but could I clear this up
You said 'If you are on stock 4.3, rooted and Knox 0x1, you can flash cm and you can restore your 4.3 backup.'
I am on stock 4.3, did you mean CM10.1 (Android 4.3) or CM11 (Android 4.4)? And if CM11 then that would mean I could go to android 4.4 and then back down to 4.3 stock if I wanted?
And flashing a KitKat ROM on 4.3 ROM would give me that wifi problem?
So do you think I should flash stock 4.4 using Odin and then flash CM11.. and then if wanted I could just go back to stock 4.4? Would there be a change in bootloader between 4.4 roms?
Hope you understood this, thanks again

If you want 4.4, you can flash the stock Samsung package including the newest bootloader and modem. Wifi and everything else will work then. Once you are on the 4.4 bootloader, you can switch between all 4.4 ROMS, stock or custom. You be able to Odin flash the stock Samsung 4.4 ROM again. But you can not flash a STOCK SAMSUNG 4.3 ROM again. 4.3 CUSTOM Rom is possible.
Remember: if you flash the Samsung stock 4.4 package, you have to root and flash a custom recovery before you can flash cm11 I suggest TWRP 2.6.3.1, works perfect.

Hmm, would I need to delete data and stuff when flashing stock 4.4? If it does, titaniumbackup backup/restore should work fine?
I will flash twrp custom recovery using odin but how about a root? Which root works on 4.4 with knox?
Thanks

Try CFautoroot first. Then recovery. Restore most of your data with titanium should work. But don't restore any system apps.:good:
Its been a very long time since I've had to dig this deep into flashing and I've always been a Samsung user so I'm somewhat use to the less difficult route. I'm running the 4.4.4 mokee ROM with the kitkat boot loader. Im trying to get miui running on my phone. The miui ROM is on 4.2.2 and I'm guessing requires a JB bootloader to flash. So my question is, is there a pre-rooted rsd package to get back to 4.2.2 so I can flash miui or do I have to flash back to stock, re-root and re-flash a custom recovery? Honestly I'm trying to get back for stability also. Unless someone knows where a KitKat miui ROM is for our phone? Other than the "V6" tablet ui ROM. It isn't no where stable enough.

simplest route for you: install rsdlite, flash stock 4.4.2 which will upgrade you to kk bootloader. then install supersu from play store, then towelroot and root your phone. thereafter, use motocalypse to unlock bootloader.
after that you are free to pick and choose which rom you want to install. if you wish to install a jb rom, you will have to downgrade to jb bootloader. otherwise, you're free to install your favorite recovery followed by your favorite kk rom while still on the kk bootloader

You don't have to be rooted to flash custom recoveries, so just downgrade to stock 4.1.2 (there was no 4.2) and then flash a custom recovery for the old bootloader.

If meant for 4.1.2 kernel then use flash back 4.1.2 then when recovery reboots flash the 4.1.2bl rom. Which 4.2.2 ROM are you trying?
We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.

no sir, if you are on stock Lollipop you are not clear to flash any ROM's, do you have a custom recovery?
Apologies, as I have not tried the OTA lollipop....how is it? Worth trying in place of a constantly rebooting CM12-based phone?
You will need to be running a 4.3 bootloader before flashing the Lollipop ROM's, so you will need to take some steps to downgrade.

So I had DarkLord N5 on my N9005 before, which was awesome, but it had performance issues (especially when gaming). Then i downgraded to Stock KitKat using Odin and after boot up It showed No Signal, and everything was freezing and force closing. I somehow went to settings and found that i also have issues with IMEI and Baseband version, it was all unknown. The worst part is i did not backup my EFS. Any help guys please :crying:
I also have no audio playback
Im no pro here, but as i found in my research it is hard to downgrade from lolipop to kitkat as in 5.0 new architecture has been presented which they called art. I think. So it gives lots of incompatibilities. I tried the same as you but i ended up going stock lolipop for a while.
Yesterday i flashed Ressurrection remix 6.0.1 Marshmallow based off Slim roms and CM and i admit this is so far best rom i have tested. (Unless you need all fancy spen features)
I'd try to stick to anything that is 5.1 or above since great battery life.
Sorry for not much info, but i couldn't get past your post unanswered.

But afaik if u have updated your bootloader there may be no way to get back. And lack of IMEI on reverted KitKat isn't anything new. I bet going simply to anything art. Based will do.

I would not try any other ROMs before trying to flash the latest stock rom from sammobile.com. Hopefully, this will resolve the baseband and imei issue. Sometimes, the missing or wrong imei is caused by a mismatch between the bootloader and modem firmware.

I did downgrading from 5.0 (CM12) to Stock 4.4 KitKat in my S3, but never had issues like this.
Downgrading from a cm rom to a stock rom via Odin can be fine because installing a cm rom does NOT alter the phone's bootloader or modem. Trying to downgrade from stock 4.4.2 to stock 4.3 with Odin on an s3 cannot be done.

Sorry, I meant to say that installing a cm rom DOES NOT change the bootloader or modem. When you flash back to stock via Odin, you are simply writing over the existing modem and bootloader with the same bootloader and modem if you are flashing the same stock rom that was on the phone before installing cm.
I flashed between KitKat and LP official just fine.
