Whenever I received a call
or I call someone
my screen freeze on calling screen for a while.
Can anyone have a solution
Device:- MaxProM1 6Gb
I had the same problem but ended up flashing custom ROM
Change your phone cover
Surprizingly my phone cover (3 piece structure) was meddling with the proximity sensor and causing the calling screen freeze. Use a drill and broaden the hole given for proximity sensor, or change the cover.
Screen freeze while calling (SOLVED)
Cleaned the sensors near to front camera and it worked

Hi all again,
I must saw I've NEVER had to do so many posting for a single phone... anyway.
I just updated my Leo to 1.61 via a tortuous goldcard process and the proximity sensor is still not working correctly My wife is the main user of the phone and I was watching her while on a call- the screen was on and off like some demented Xmas lights.
I have a theory regarding the problem. It's only my wife who has the problem with the phone, it's seems ok with me (but I don't use it as much!). The phone is very wide, and the proximity sensor is not central. I think that the sensor is missing her ear (she has small ears!). The gap between her ear lobe top and her head is too great for the sensor. I tested the sensor gap with my thumb and it seems to be around 1cm to activate.
The hardware solution is either move the sensor so it's central (that's not going to happen soon) OR increase the sensitivity of it.
Does anyone know how to change the sensitivity of the sensor OR anyway to completely disable the touch screen during a call.
Hmm I can not believe that, I've tested my sensor:
It put the lights out if i come closer that 1,5 cm next to the screen during a call. So it think this is not the source of your problem.
But: I'm running a 1.48 rom...
I had the proximity sensor behaving eratically upon installing a screen protector. Even though I installed the original HTC screen protector which has 2 holes to position exactly over the sensors but even then I had problems. Ever since removing the screen protector everything is okay again.
Just thought if your problem also coincides with installing a screen protector.
Regards
The problem occurs when your hair overlaps the proximity sensor, the light immediately comes on. Stick the phone back to the ear and the proximity sensor works perfectly on time.
p.s. ive long hair and I too faced this problem and figured it out by running a few test as mentioned above ;-)
Hope this helps.
well, I'm having the same problem and It's not caused because of my hair. it just sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. the test I make is using the palm of my hand. if during one call It's not working, it won't work no matter what you do. then if I make a call and its working, I can turn on and off the screen placing my hand in front of the sensor..

I reckon you clear the area around the receiver and try doing a hard reset.
CAUTION: Take an individual back of your data rather than doing a full backup using some software.
same problem
Hi, I have the same random proximity sensor bug problem. During call accidental hang-up happens every day. I have short hair and no screen protector. Is there any solution for this yet? thanks.
I wrote to HTC already, but they claim there is no problem reported. Sory for my English.
Had a similar problem. My proximity sensor is now working fine. Install the 'Proximity Sensor for Screen Off v0.2' cab. Search the forum for the thread.
thanks for tip, hope this little app will "evolve"...
hi,
i had the problem with the proximite, that it is only working when the phone is in portrait mode. when im incall and portrait i can put my finger to the sensor and it is working perfect. when i rotate the display to landscape the sensor does nothing and the display stays on. unfortunatly i turn the phone sometimes on the way to my ear, and so the screen stays on.
i will try now the mentoined .cab and see what it does for me.
regards mad
My defy+ proximity sensor is not working.
As soon as I make a call, the phone screen goes black. The call goes thru fine, but the screen goes black.
No, I don''t have my finger or face near the proximity sensor.
No mods on the phone OS.
I did some debugging-
Cleaned the back of the phone by blowing air.
Tried the screw loosening like in the youtube video
Changed brightness settings from auto to manual.
Changed display turn off from 1min to never.
Finally, I downloded a sensor app and checked for change in the value of the proximity sensor when put by finger in the sensor area. The value was stuck at 3%, no matter what I did.
I was playing around and when I pressed the speaker area near the proximity sensor, the sensor value jumped to 100%
So I think the glass is blocking the sensor (or acting as a reflector).
Just to make sure the glass was the issue, I made a call by keeping the speaker area pressed. It worked as expected - no screen blanking after call. It does go black if I put my finger in the proximity sensor area.
I have no idea how to fix it.The screen & sensor need to be pressed closer.
Only thing I have tried is tighten the screws in the back. But no use.
Any help?
Since you don't have mods, it's probably broken, go to customer care.
Or you can maybe try factory reset
Do you have a screen protector?
Out yes remove it.
If not your sensor is broken.

Hi everyone,
Long story short, I got a used Nexus 4 off someone, everything works perfectly except the proximity sensor. During a call the screen blacks out and doesn't come back unless I hard reset the phone to hang up. I figured out it was a problem with the proximity sensor. Upon reading these forums and many other articles on Google about taking off the screen protector (which I don't have) and swapping the rubber "sensor" holder holes, I decided to open the phone up and take a look.
It appears that my phone is missing the rubber piece to hold the proximity and light sensors in place, making the sensor unusable and causing many issues with making calls. I've tried playing around with it using other peoples' suggestions and nothing has worked. I've decided to just find a way to disable the proximity sensor instead during a call, as I'll be quite satisfied with just a simple software fix.
Right now I am using Proximity Screen OFF to keep the screen on, but it drains my battery pretty hard. I was thinking to just flash my phone with a mod that allows me to turn the proximity sensor off during a call.
Any suggestions as to which mod contains this feature?
Thank you.
Hi,
Lately i have been noticing that the proximity sensor on calls on my s5 is not working properly. Once i answer/make a call, when i place the phone in my ear it shuts down the screen but the problem is when i take it away from my ear, the screen doesn't turn back on.
I tried the the testing menus (*#0*# or something like that) and when i placed my finger close to the sensor it detected, going green and vibrating but it doesn't go away from that state.
The only thing that changed was that i applied a glass screen protector a few days ago and im thinking it could be that, but its strange because its only when i back away from the screen that it doesn't register, so i don't know if that or not. Also, the protector is properly aligned and the edges are not on top of the sensor.
Anyone experienced this on their s5?

You have to change the proximity sensor or cancel it(cutting the flat)
I ended up removing the screen protector and it went back to working properly =/ I can't really put it back on now because it attracted specks of dust and it doesn't glue well now =/
Cutting it flat means it deactivate it? Because i find it useful for phone calls

Cutting it means deactivate fully, even in calls display stay on.
Is there anyone else encountering the same issue with me?
I realize my proximity was not working when the screen wont turn off during the call when using the earpiece. I did went into the CIT and performed the proximity sensor test and the proximity sensor seems not even reacting.
Is there any chances that it could be the tempered glass screen protector affecting the sensor to work normally? I found that the phone is eventually something they called it "Virtual Proximity Sensor" so i kinda clueless on fixing this.
Mine is working through the glass.
Apply all the updates, happened the same to me until i applied system updates.
The reason of it is you glass protection.
Works for me. Unless I am in another app whole in call
I face the same problem
The proximity sensor seems to be located on the top right (next to earpiece) literally invisible to at least my eyes. Make sure you have no bubbles in that area from screen protector install and if there's a smudge from your fingerprint it might block the sensor thinking it is placed near your ear. So clean it if it doesn't work properly. Maybe screen protectors with black borders like the Nillkin one require 100% accuracy when applying them?
I do have a line all the way around my phone where my screen protector has and will not stick to the phone.
Can't comment on plastic screen protectors.
I have the same issue on my MI9T Pro. Tested with CIT (4 times click on kernel version appear this tool to check the hardware). First time the sensor worked fine (5.0 to 0.0), second time it was stuck on 0.0
Then I reboot the phone and it has fixed by itself, but this is a recurrent issue, I couldn't solve. Someone knows the real solution?
I have the same problem , i don t know if is a software problem , i think is more a hardware problem . The sensor worked fine ( i think ) until i installed a temperd glass . When i put the glass " perfect " the sensor not worked ...then i moved the glass down , and is working , but not 100 % . In call i must find a position , an in my pocket not seek to work . I use a Wozinsky Super Tough for Xiaomi Mi 9T & Mi 9T Pro, Full Screen, Full Glue.
For me screen protection is very important , and i make thia compromise for now . I Hope to find a better temperd glass !
+1 for the proximity sensor problems... I had 10.3.15, now chaned over 10.3.11 and the same. I have screen protector from Samsung A50. Sensor is going off when I make a call, and didn't came back when I put the phone down.
This is not happening every time, but once in a day/two...
No problem in K20. Using back cover and .2mm plastic screen protector
I think the problem is with temperd glass , mine have black border and i think that is the problem !!
I have the same issue. But I noticed this only happens for the incoming calls and not for the outgoing also I noticed when this happen it's like sensor doesn't wakes up but I have to say that I have screen protector also. I read in a forum from Spain that several users have the same issue even without screen protector.
For the incoming calls, I notice a lot of times that the phone/smart watch is ringing, but the screen is not turning on. Even when I unlock the phone can see that someone is calling...
Screen protector
I have the same issue. I have a tempered glass with black frame too. The proximity sensor doesn't work when the glass is on. It is a really strange issue.
I have the same issue. I have a Xiaomi mi 9t pro and my proximity and light sensor don't work (same component)
But I have a theory. Like many I have installed a tempered glass previously but I removed it some weeks ago because of a crack. But I didn't replace it with a new one.
But who else used the (included) oil to remove the halo effect around the screen protector?
I used it but I think some oil seeped in the speaker grill and this maybe gives errors on the contacts of the proximity and light sensor!? The sensor is nearby the speaker grill.
I have the same problem... Have phone about a month, I've put glass the same day I bought the phone... Does anyone know where is the problem?
All i can tell you all is how to apply these screen protectors, because at the end of the day it is NOT a hardware issue. (sure, maybe a hardware flaw when using it with an accessory such as a protector)
The best method imo is to use tape or the sticky stickers that should come with the pack, so you end up creating a hinge that should always "close" at the same exact spot when you "open and close it".
Only then should you continue to peel of the film after thoroughly but gently wiping off the dust and marks especially near the proximity sensor. Make sure the phone is "naked" and that you do this in the least dusty environment. Do not waste any time after peeling off the sticker but do not rush and risk messing up the allignment. It should be an even gap/space all the way round of the phone. If you feel like you did everything right and it still doesn't work then next time move the screen protectors ever so slightly downwards.
Refer to my first post on the first page to see my phone's screen protector installed. Guess I can take some clearer pictures and show you. Have used the phone with three cases and zero problems apart from smudging the sensor with my ear a few times.
My first post using text formatting lol
I briefly had your issue, i simply cleaned the top speaker grill.
Can confirm, tampered glass with black borders cause this problem. I removed it and now it works flawlessly.
