Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a Pixel-based ROM (same UI etc), has to be stable and include Pixel apps like Google camera, phone, messages etc.
I alrezdy tried PixenOS but it was not very stable for me. The ROM would crash at night which made my alarm not go off.
Thanks!
Hi!
Please take a look at the OnePlus 5 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Development forum. You will find plenty of ROMs -- select one based on AOSP/LineageOS/OmniROM and you should be good to go for an Android stock-ish experience.
As for the "Pixel apps", as long a you make sure to flash a GApps variant containing most of the Google applications (like the "super" or "stock" variants; or have more control using the "aroma" variant), you should have all you need for a Pixel-like experience.

Hi guys, I have been looking in the Android development part of the forum for a week now and I need help in finding the ROM suitable for me. I have flashed about eight roms in the past week and i can't find the 'one'
I need your help
I'm looking for a ROM that looks like a nexus device (UI), I have tried the Google Edition but it was too laggy, but I want to be able to customise the device fully with pre-built settings like CyanogenMod or ProBAM. For example, I don't like the stock messaging app on the Google Edition ROMS, I actually prefer the TW layout, and so it would be nice to customise that. I also want a ROM that doesn't take up too much storage, so I am future proofed, and finally I want a ROM that has good battery life.
I like the look of CyanogenMod but there aren't any stable releases and there are only nighty builds, which I'm apprehensive about, because my phone is my daily driver. I'm also confused about people saying get CyanogenMod 10.2 instead of 10.1, but when I go to the Wiki page, there is no mention of 10.1 or 10.2...?
it would be great if someone could help me
Thread closed as its a "Best ROM" thread.
Hey, if I flash a customized Google edition rom, would I lose the G2's camera options? Or the UI of the camera stays the same?
If by Google edition ROM you mean AOSP based Rom, you would loose lg's camera app & UI, however I believe the stock camera apk has been ported to AOSP ROMs over in the themes and apps section.
If you do go flashing AOSP ROMs make sure you know exactly what you're doing first, and read up on different G2 models & versions, and identify your personal G2. You don't wanna go flashing an incompatible ROM and turn your phone into a techy looking paperweight!
You may already know that, but It is important so I thought I'd mention it to be safe
Which ROM is right now the simplest and the fastest? I don't play any games, i want the most stable rom, where i can make calls, type messages, use internet browser, facebook, messenger and one app named "wykop". Is there anything?
Thank you!
Samsung S4 I9506
LineageOS is a very good ROM; comes with Android 7.1 Nougat, and supports all of your described needs. It is possibly the fastest, although it does not come with the play store, you will have to flash OpenGapps through recovery. In fact I'm using Lineage right now.
Hope you have good luck with it
MoKee is another good one
Just try it
@Aroko: The previous posters are simply throwing out ROMs without taking into account your specific needs. Based upon those needs, the most stable ROM for you would be stock Touchwiz. Now, you haven't specified whether you want the latest version of Android or not, but custom ROMs also come with custom compromises. For example, in some custom ROMs the camera crashes so badly that a reboot is required to fix it. It happened to me when I was using my I9505 as a daily driver, and the solution I had come up with was to use a third party camera app with its own camera binaries, because the ones included in the ROM didn't work.
The above is merely one example. If you're willing to deal with such annoyances, the Optimized Lineage OS ROM or Optimized AOSP ROM by JDCTeam may be a suitable choice. Otherwise, stick with stock.
Hi All,
Our forum is full of custom ROMs which i am unable to find out which one is best in terms of battery, stability, bug fix etc.,
Can someone (who tried most of the roms) rate the available custom roms so that we get a clear picture on this?
Most of the custom roms available now are based on the device tree by arrow team. So they all will have the same bugs (if any).
And there is no such thing as the best custom rom. Depends on the person using it. Some roms are feature packed like crDroid, RR, AEX etc... Whereas some roms offer minimal essential customisations like lineage. And pixel experience project is a pure stock pixel experience. So choose the roms that suit your taste
I am considering to root my phone and flash custom ROM which has gaming mode, good camera app? Any inputs about these two basic requirements.. about which ROM should I flash.. I went through XDA but could find many of the roms which are updated regularly.. so bit confused about where to start from because i usually have no time to jump from one rom to another..I would like the ROM which is stable for daily use..

I assume when you say Gaming Mode you mean the one similar to OxygenOS? Then I'm sorry but no ROM has that. Some have a Gaming Mode (Havoc , Syberia) but that's not OnePlus's Gaming Mode. It's a fairly simple one that just blocks Heads Up Notification. Same goes for Navigation Gestures.
Now the second point regarding Camera. Many ROMs have Stock OOS Camera built in. Others have Gcam and some have LineageOS / Snap Camera. You can install OnePlus Camera on all ROMs as well as Gcam. However their are issues such as broken 4K/60 FPS Recording, in some cases Broken Portrait Mode, etc. As far as Camera goes your best bet is to use Gcam. Or OOS Camera if you can live with a Few Bugs.
Now when it comes to recommendation, try any one you want. All of them are similar to each other in essence. Some have some more Customization than others. All are stable. If you want a good one, try OmniROM TreskMod. It's not available on XDA. Google it. The reason why I say this is :
It has Gapps Built-in. Makes flashing waaay easier. Also has Delta OTA Support so you don't have to download full ZIP Each time. Has Pixel look and feel and has some Customization. Good Luck.

Edit*
It's the first time since I own Android phones that I don't flash a custom ROM.... If it's just to recreate the same features than oos why bothering flashing?
And most of all 'features' present in custom roms are unneeded and unused by 80% of people.
Apart from that most of remaining active roms seem good to use... It's up to you to try.

I would suggest you keep your stock ROM and flash a magisk rom on top of it, like xXX No Limits or RenovateICE. They work as mods, introducing some extra features.
I've explored ROMs and haven't found enough of a reason to keep one. I'm running rooted OOS. I've used Havoc, aosip, pixel experience, and in the end, they have bugs that are actively being worked out through weekly releases and I find myself having to restore back to OOS. I use Gcam on OOS after flashing the framework with Magisk. There's plenty you can do with the OOS and with Android Q coming, there will be a whole other bug repair sequence going on again, including adapting the custom roms to mimic or outdo the newest OOS with Q.
