So back story, i used lg g6 last year and since there was no root i switched to huawei mate 10 pro and planned on sending g6 to a friend out of country and i was looking again yesterday if there was root but still none and i stumbled upon a thread about converting it to canadian h873 with 20g firmware and then to us997 20c september kdz and was able to boot back and able to connect to att and t mobile, havent tried BL unlock or root as us997 is unlocked model and i am finally happy that this g6 has some use, for anyone interested search in xda and you should find that thread and links for downloads.
Well after converting h871 to us997 using lgup and patched dll i am still not able to start fastboot, PC recognises device in adb and adb commands work fine but when i type adb reboot bootloader it boots to fastboot screen but my PC doesnt recognise it and fastboot device or any other fastboot commands not working but volte an att and wifi calling on t moblle working great, checked them to make and gauranteed to work but still unable to bootloader unlock, does anyone know another method, thanks.

Hello friends,
Need help here. I am willing to buy T-mobile variant of V20. Its on firmware H91010t march security update. I searched all over the forum for the last one hour but could not get the clear cut answer. If this device can be bootloader unlocked. Can I downgrade to any unlockable older version and unlock the bootloader or now its not possible? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Yeah the H918 is bootloader unlockable, however you need to use a root exploit in order to utilize it as there are limited fastboot commands available.
If you're not familiar with Linux though you should wait for the automated version of the exploit to be released so you can make sure you don't mess anything up.

Thanks bro. Please clarify one more thing. It says we must have bootloader unlocked before proceeding this process. So T-mobile varient comes boot loader unlocked?

It comes locked, but it can still (and must) use fastboot oem unlock to unlock the bootloader (the reason exploits are needed is because the h918 fastboot can not flash anything). As usual fastboot oem unlock will factory reset the device so make backups.
As far as rolling back, don't rollback too far or youll brick: just roll back to the version explictly named in the lafsploit guide.
you must enable developer mode and turn on usb debugging <~~~~ in about phone section find the Build number and click it 6-7 times to enable the developer mode option. after that follow the fastboot oem unlocked commands, after unlocking the bootloader. if you want to roll back on firmware DO NOT go before H91810p or you will brick your phone, so your options are h91810p ,q ,r,s, or t which your on. follow the lglaf h918 information in the xda forums. go into search and type lglaf h918. hope this helps

so your bootloader was looked when you tried to "update" rom?
if so thats your issue. you can try to connect to pc and put phone in fastboot mode and unlock bootloader.

No they cant. Fastboot oem unlock only works with the T-mobile variant (unlock works without a key but is missing flash commands) and the us unlocked us996 can unlock by flashing a key from lg but can actually flash roms.
@uccfar is using the term rom when meaning stock firmware, and if this didnt happen when rooted or trying to root it could easily be a hardware issue.

Just wondering, how did you fix your issue?
Thank you.
Hi,
I have an LG G6 and I want to put LineageOS on it. The problem is that the custom rom is only available for H870 international version, and not the H872 that I have. LG has an official unlock for the bootloader for the H870 version and I believe one more, but not for the one I have. But of course, I don't need an official unlock thing I can just do it myself, right? But after unlocking, I can't seem to flash any recovery on it because apparently, the 'fastboot' commands have been removed. So no using 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' type of command etc. So regarding this, I have three questions:
1) Is it in any way possible to recover the 'fastboot' commands?
2) If not, can I flash a recovery via another method?
3) If I successfully flash a recovery, can I flash the H870 ROM, considering I have a H872?
Thanks for the help!

as far as I know, you can't recover the 'fastboot' commands, but there is a way of rooting your h872 https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g6/how-to/root-h872-to-including-11g-t3775518 and no you can't flash an H870 international version on an h872 it will brick your phone

Hello guys,
I've bought very cheap a oneplus 6T, the seller mentioned that he got stuck in the boot animation after updating to android 10.
What I tried to do to unbrick the phone was to use the MSMTool for OOS 10.3.5. After using the flash tool, I'm still unable to boot. Nothing changed.
Bootloader is locked, wasn't able to unlock it via fastboot OEM unlock.
You help is thankfully needed, what could I try else?
Best regards, Tobias
I would try using the first msm tool for your model and verify if its a T-Mobile model as those have their own msm tool. Best of luck!
Hello, I recently purchased the T-mobile version of the 6T (bad idea) that had a locked bootloader, and tried to flash it to the international version so I can root the device. I followed this post in hopes of achieving it. The device will no longer boot. The screen quickly flashes with a Oneplus logo with "fastboot mode" underneath then I am met with this error: "Build version and HW is not match!". Is it completely bricked? Can I flash back to a T-Mobile OS?
If it is truly bricked I am curious if someone could explain why it may have happened. As in, has T-Mobile changed some the checks involved with flashing to the international version? Or was it because the device was running the latest Oxygen OS, is it impossible to downgrade this way? I am genuinely curious and want to take this as a bitter learning experience.
Thanks for your input.
It depends, did you select oem unlock and usb debugging and then unlock the bootloader prior to trying to flash another rom to the device? If you successfully unlocked the bootloader, prior to messing around with flashing, then no, I doubt you hard bricked. If you did NOT unlock the bootloader, then yes, you may have hard bricked.
If you did unlock the BL, I would suggest flashing the fastboot rom for the build your currently on. Or, you could use the msm tool. Both of the above can be found in the forums for the 6t.

Thanks for the reply. Oem unlock and usb debugging were enabled but the bootloader was not unlocked. I was trying to avoid the 7-day wait time for the unlock bin from oneplus/tmobile.
I was able to flash back to tmobile OOS 9.0 found in this post using the v2 version. I was still able to update OTA to the latest 10.3.7.
Edit: Some_Random_Username has comented to include tmobile OOS 10.3.7
Did you get it all figured out? If not here's a semi detailed version of what I had to do with my tmobile 6t, because I had issues as well. Mainly my phone not showing up in msm tool. Only wanted to work after it had Android 9. Also I had little sleep the night I did this so I'm trying to recall the best I can.
Assuming your phone shows in msm tool at this point
Used msm tool to flashed older A9 ops https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603895067
Boot in and enable adb and oem bootloader unlock
Boot to bootloader and unlock it
Flashed first A10 OOS https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261819701
Flashed 10.3.7 to both slots with twrp https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=10763459528675591630
Flash rom
Flash Magisk
Profit
Some of this could be redundant, but my late night research and trial and error paid off.

Well I'm glad you were able to get it up and running. I highly suggest unlocking that bootloader as soon as you can....having an unlocked BL is key to getting out of a lot of bricked situations.
