Help me please !!!!!!!!?? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hey Guys ,
I had a problem today with my lovely G6 ; since i bought it 2 months ago everything was working flawlessly (except the battery drain but generally i can say it is really a bad battery because just i think it's not able to stand for my needs like some other phones and complete the day)
till yesterday !!!
My LG G6 is currently running on Android Nougat 7.0 So,When i wanted to upgrade my Os into the latest Oreo update it ; the bad surprise came.
The OTA upgrade doesn't even work for me it always says you have currently the last update even like we know there is a lot of updates and security patches came for oreo !
So I tried the LG Bridge . yes, of course he detected my phone because i installed the latest driver pack but it keeps saying that it is impossible to chek the software version
So at this point , i got very confused about this phone and i did a lot of searches about its IMEI
My phone indicate at its menu that its model is the H873 which means it is The Canadian version but all the informations about my IMEI number i got from the intetnet it says that it is the VS988 model !!!
What should i do now :crying: please help me gyus i am very confused :crying:crying:

You bought it used or brand new from the official reseller? If not it's possible someone tampered with your device before. You can also try to flash the latest *.kdz via LG Up and Uppercut.

@Vatt`ghern
I bought used but if really someone tampered with it i should be able to be tampere with it and upgrade the software the main problem is that the model still uknown even for the PC howcan can i solve this miserable problem ?
Furthermore, I Tried LG UP too but it keeps saying model is uknown ?

Did you try LGUP instead of Bridge? It should recognize your phone.
You can try to flash Oreo with LGUP. Since you don't know for sure which variant you own I'll give two links: H873 VS988.
LGUP and UPPERCUT (Install LGUP and run Uppercut).

@Vatt`ghern
I tried LG UP , phone has been detected but it show me that my phone model is uknown

You most likely don't have any valid warranty on this phone so I would unlock the bootloader and try to install flashable zip through TWRP.

@Vatt`ghern
Excuse me Bro but I will be so greatful if you can give me a closer sight and help me to solve this problem because i haven't understand the process you are talking about . i have a very small basic knowledge about Flashing phones and TWRP

Download the platform tools (you don't have to download Android SDK) and check if your phone's bootloader can be actually unlocked, there is a guide how to do it.

Touch screen not working after update

Hello,
I got a brand new D802 from Hong Kong a few days ago.
It was working good until I did an update that was suggested to me by the LG PC Suite.
The upgrade was from D80220B to D80220D, after the update was finished successfully, the device restarted and since then, the touch screen isn't working properly.
The meaning of it that I can't even slide to open the device because the screen acts "crazy" pressing multiple times and not in the correct place like if its calibration is ruined.
I tried doing factory reset but it didn't help, I even tried flashing the KDZ file, but the result was the same.
I put it in a shop where they told me that the digitizer and the screen needed to be replaced.
My questions are:
1. How can the digitizer get ruined from doing an update using the official software?
2. If I get a new device (I bought it on eBay and I'm sending the device for a replacement), and I'll do the update again, will it happen again or is it a faulty device that was doomed to be ruined?
Many thanks,
Ice

i guess it was faulty mate if you went from stock>>stock . everyone upgrades nowdays using Ota or flash tool or pc suite without problem. i recommend you ota if you on stock without root/recovery etc.. else KDZ download and manual flash with lg flash tool.

Thanks.
When you say "faulty" you mean the device?
I can't do anything with the device because the screen doesn't work anymore, even if I flash stock rom from scratch.

I think you have refurbished LG G2. It is not D802. Open your phone battery cover there you will find exact model of your LG G2.

I want to flash back to ls993 firmware after flashing the H873 oreo kdz

Hello everyone, I just got this G6 ls993 with stock firmware Nougat on 29th May.
Then I went through some of the thread and found there is the way to flash different stock kdz to change the model.
And as you know that H873 has released its oreo stock kdz weeks ago, can't wait another day to use the new oreo system.
So I downloaded H873 stock oreo firmware and force flash the h873 kdz to my ls993. So far everything works well.
And of course, my phone model was change from ls993 to H873 with the new oreo firmware as well, then I just realized LG has released its official oreo for ls993 on 31st May...
I regret why I couldn't wait on the Nougat for 1 or 2 more days, otherwise I would be able to just ota to oreo as a "ls993" rather than "H873".
Now the question comes, is there any chance that I can flash ls993's stock Nougat or oreo?
I've been searching for the ls993 stock kdz for a while , but seems LG hasn't released any version of stock kdz for lsd993 yet and not sure if they were already on the way to do this either.
There may be probably no official stock kdz for ls993 , so what should we do to flash back to its stock model?
Hope anyone who is suffering the same problem can help to get it solved.

So, obviously, you are pretty much scr3wed right now. Flashing different model's .kdz was HIGHLY unrecommended.
First of all, you can try repairing software using LG Bridge on your PC. I don't know how this works but that piece of crap reflashed my phone with branded carrier software that was originally installed on my phone and I had totally different firmware flashed... it still managed to recognize my device and punish me for debranding my device.
So try this in the first place, LS993 firmwares weren't released by LG as stated here down in the comment section.

I posted a thread on LS993 asking if someone could make what the guide say and try to save the KDZ from a ZVA version ,but no one has replied. And when I found that guide already flashed my phone to H873.
Its a shame that people dont wanna help

Thanks for the advise, seems the only way is to wait for LG to release the stock kdz for ls993.
Anyway hope it will come some day...

I don't think they don't wanna help.
All ls993 users are in the same situation,
1. There is no kdz for ls993, so no one can do a fresh restore to the stock firmware.
2. No root or TWRP, there is no simple way to restore the system.img to ls993
Let wait for LG to release the kdz for ls993...

I have some new findings at https://www.needrom.com/download/ls993-7-0-tot/
As shown in the page, it is a LS993 tot file, however, seems current instruction only work on kdz file and there is no instruction for tot.
I know that tot file is also an img file with all the system partitions, it was used for flashing the stock firmware as well as kdz file.
I've successfully downloaded the file from mega and its size is about 6G after extracting it from the zip file.
So looking forward if anyone is familiar with tot file flash and seems this should be the possible way that we can flash back to ls993.
Thanks.

Please Help for me.How to force flash H870 firmware in Ls993
How I force flash H870 firmware in LS993 help me Now.
I am in the same boat. I ordered my phone on Amazon used because it was selling cheap. Curious i wanted to see what the modding community was doing for this phone so i looked into the phone itself. I checked to imei and it said my H873 was actually an LS993. It is running the H873 Oreo rom H87320c rom. Can i do the i update or am i screwed for now?
I bought one of the Amazon AS993 phones as well (was labelled H872 on site). Will H872 kdz flash successfully on this and give me the Volte calling with Metro/T-Mobile? I have the phone online with metro now but the firmware is set up for Brightpoint network without Volte calling and native video calling. I do understand the imei will conflict with OTA updates, but will H872 flash and work like it should on this hardware - all components appear the same.

Maybe, but chances are you'll convert your phone into a small Wi-fi only tablet. That's if it doesn't bootloop.
Not sure about LG, but I know for a fact on some HTC phones, flashing DS radio firmware on SS phones disables all GSM radio functionality.
hi, i have a G6 H870 chilean version, without branding, can i install the UE Firmware? and the other question, is if i won't lose my warranty?

I just did the same last night. I'll let it "settle in" for a day or 2 to see the results.
So far a little lag (in opening apps) compared to Nougat, but stable. Battery drain seems slightly improved but I'll report back later.
If the lag doesn't go away I'll go back to Nougat

I also came from that version
I didn't do a factory reset. because I figure that once I reinstall everything (and I actually use all the apps) I'll be in the same situation.
The slight delay in apps opening is slightly annoying. I suppose I can get used to that, but I prefer a snappy device even if I don't have immersive mode or context menus on the icons...maybe I'll roll back to Nougat
So after a few days, a few observations:
1. The lag seems to have decreased with a few days of settling in. Still not exactly snappy, but less delay in opening apps.
2. There is a new setting in Oreo under apps-battery usage- a toggle for "background activity" . It is available for some apps but not all. It stops these apps from running processes in the background (not connected to "power saving exclusions"). This seems to have improved battery life a bit.
3. No crashes or freezing.

I got the Philippines variant for LG G6 which is an H870DS ESA and I flashed a Singapore H870DS SEA oreo firmware (.kdz) and got stuck on LG Logo after I complete the flashing
1. Opened Uppercut / Runned LGUP directly
2. Choose the H870DS kdz file
3. Choose "update"
4. Start the flashing and wait till it finish
5. Stuck at LG logo
On the firmware website I see there is now an "official" version of oreo for the Israeli device (dated 8-8-18)
Anybody try it?

LG G6 H870DS TWN (Pie Update)

I would like to confirm that my H870DS TWN version updated to Android 9 using LG Bridge and everything is work well.
I took quite a long time to boot up in the LG logo, but finally it did and after about 2 manual reboots it's working as it did in Android 8, even though the security patch is from May 2019. Hopefully it will receive an OTA update with updated security settings.

No, I did not have the problem stated by other members that, I think, do have the G6 Korean and not Taiwan (TWN) version (the one I have).
In my LG Bridge, only 1 update was shown and everything went ok. I was afraid the phone was blocked during boot up, but it managed to start after 10-15 min with the LG logo in the screen. After that I already restarted twice and it booted up normally.

After two tries with LG brigde I only got Android 7 of 8 but no Android 9. Also tried to flash with uppercut/LGUP but it stopped at 4% (used 3 different computers but no luck). If someone has a solution to flash the Android Pie to my H780DS TWN I would be glad to hear it.

If you do have H870DS TWN (Taiwan) and in LG Bridge you don't find the Pie update, you can download it from here:
https://lg-firmwares.com/downloads-file/20901/H870DS30a_00_OPEN_TW_DS_OP_0920.kdz
I had downloaded the .kdz file but was not able to flash it. Uppercut fails at 4%. Is there an other way to flash the .kdz file? I don't mind if the phone is wiped.

Flashed successfully with LG UP 1.16 and LG UP DLL update:
LGUP_Lab_Frame_Ver_1_16_0_3.msi
LGUP_Common_DLL_Ver_1_0_40_2.msi

Last version of LG Bridge is installed on my computer and working but I'm unable to install Android 9 update... After the update, my phone is on Android 7 !?
So, I've tried with LG UP and common DLL... and it's OK.
Just launch LG UP, check "upgrade" and select downloaded kds firmware. :good:
