Hi I have international version of S5 G900F. I flashed the phone with UK BTU stock rom. Now the problem is I cannot connect to the Network.
I tried going to Settings->More Networks -> Network Operators -> Select automatically . It took 5-10 mins to search but cannot connect.
Sim is not locked as it was working before I flashed the stock rom. also I read somewhere in internet that once the phone is region unlocked, it is permanently unlocked to use any other country sim. I don't know the original region of my phone but I bought it in Uk from 3rd party dealer not from any carrier.
I can think of two thing at the moment. It should be either regional locked again, but it does not prompt any thing to activate or enter pin or anything like that. or it should be wrong modem.
Is there a way to find if the phone is region locked ?
and is there a way to find correct region of the phone ?
the label on the box was removed so I cannot find from the box as well.
Thanks in advance.
I still haven't fixed this problem. Could someone suggest how to fix?
I've attached some screenshots with my phone info.
first image shows NETWORK:UNBLOCKED and IMEI Certi: PASS
-> I think this means, the phone is not blocked by network, and IMEI certificate has passed so it's not stolen or lost claimed phone.
another screenshot is the Firmware and CSC code/country information,
-> this means, this phone is build to sell in UK, so UK sim should unlock the regional lock.
Also the phone was working fine before I installed stock rom which I dowloaded from sammobile.
in the sceenshot, one of the network is connected but it says emergency call only because it cannot register to the network.
It is not sim lock also, because when I put T-mobile sim it does not ask for pin to unlock also.
what is wrong here. any idea guys? xda supposed to be the biggest android forum and samsung s5 is one of the most popular phone at the moment, isn't there anyone who have similar problem and solved? or atleast give some reason this cannot be fixed at all.
does the TMobile sim work? does it register with the network? If yes, then call the provider (of the other sim) and ask what's going on. Maybe you have a broken sim?

I've tried with Orange sim, and it still cannot register to the network. When I put the orange sim, it pop up a dialogbox asking to choose a network provider, there was two options, T-mobile and orange. So it is detecting the sim, but it cannot register.
And also, I tried my sim in another phone, and my sim works in another phone without any problem.
Did you try to flash the firmware again, and then after that restore factory defaults?

Yes I did, still it didn't work. I emailed samsung customer service with the problem, and they asked me to restore factory defaults.
I did that again but didn't work.
I tried one custom ROM as well. same problem in that rom.
You're rooted? If yes then there might be problem with the modem part of the ROM, can you install the official one part ROM and try with that?

I've installed stock rom several times, and several different versions( from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-G900F&pcode=0 ). Rooted several times, installed modem.bin files several times from many custom rom/ stock rom. None of them worked. I tried installing modem.bin when not rooted as well. And all the attempt failed.
I did everything I could possibly think of , Then I posted the question in the forum.
You have the IMEI ??!? Or it is lost?? Then only per efs-backup…
Or sim is broken…

I'm having the same problem, but with G900H. I have stock firmware, rooted and everything's working fine until suddenly, I have no network. I restart the phone and get network again but only for a couple of minutes.

Sry XanoZuke, I could not do anything to fix this, so I returned the phone and got another handset. I now have Exynos Octa-core version. Found snapdragon version is more power efficient. My phone gets heated very quickly.

Don't worry, I found out that the motherboard was water damaged (the irony of life....), so a bought an LG G3.
Regarding the Exynos chip, I'm never buying anything exynos ever again. The performance is not as solid as Snapdragon and it gets heated really fast. Still, thanks for your reply! ?

Sorry i end up selling the phone as is..
Same deal
My g900f has no mobile services sims fine
I have the same problem.
Cannot connect to network after flashing new ROM. Since then I tried about 10 different original roms and couple custom roms. Number of different MODEMs and BOOTLOADERs but with no joy. SIM card works fine in different phone.
Also I tried to load different CERT files and QCN with Z3X Box but that didn't help either.
I've tried *#0011# command here are results:
with LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto-connect:
imgur.com/i69HCBM
with WCDMA only:
imgur.com/QPbvKHG
and GSM only:
imgur.com/8InhQWQ
It seems that GSM is not working at all.
At this stage I run out of ideas and probably gonna get rid of the phone as it is or use it as pimped-out ipod touch
(sorry for messed up links but I can't post to outside sites yet)
Hello,
I received my Oneplus 2 today and it does not support the LTE Band 3. It`s the north USA Version and i would like to ask if anyone figured out a method to unlock the LTE Band 3 (1800mhz) . It`s because the Hardware of the Oneplus USA Version is the same like the European version.

That would be amazing if some one could figure that out. But as I did my research it seems that it's not possible that there's a hardware difference.

Should be the same procedure as the HTC M9 since they're the same processor. And for the prep work (drivers and enabling the modem diag mode) as in this thread for the OnePlus One.

Do the changes to the band stay after rebooting or upgrading the OS to a newer version? I wanted to unlock band 3 as well on my OP2.
I haven't tried writing the modem configuration yet to see if it sticks or not but was able connect the phone and read the configuration from it by following the instructions from the 2 posts I mentioned.
Say if you got Chinese oneplus 2 and changed software on it would it work on bands 20 I've seen this question asked before but can't find the post

anyone found a way to unlock band 3?
Have a look at this post
I suggest you to keep 3G instead of LTE because battery draining is so faster under LTE Mode. If you stay a place that have a poor LTE signal, that would be your battery killer.

I'm using A2005 usa model in India and I'm unable to use it on Airtel 4G in India. When I spoke to the OnePlus customer service they said it will need to replace the motherboard as it's a Hardware issue. I'm waiting for the motherboard to arrive from china as they don't have it yet in India. So basically it's a Hardware issue on oneplus 2 unlike it's ancestors.

Ok, guys, I`ve unlock NVram to write. Now I can save any values to change enabled bands.
Intruction:
Requirements:
OnePlus 2 with TWRP and rooted.
QXDM Pro, drivers, etc, as described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-unlock-aditional-bands-qualcomm-t2877031
Stock ROM OnePlus2Oxygen_14_OTA_011_all_1512111634.zip.
Attached file.
Just unzip attachment and replace file in ROM OnePlus2Oxygen_14_OTA_011_all_1512111634.zip, in RADIO folder. Flash via twrp.
After boot you will see warning "NV backup corrupted" or something like this, dont worry.
Use QXDM to change band as you want, reboot and check. Voilya. But LTE will not work, because it is hardware issue, lol.
A few words about attached file. I just unzip this file from stock ROM, search AC 1Ah (6828 little endian) and DB 08 (56072, US LTE band) together and replace DB 08 with DF 10. Dont ask, what I did, I dont know, lol. But it is work.

There is easier way to do that without corrupting the backup.
Simply change the value is QXDM.
Then in the phone dial *#268#
Press the NV parameters
Press the Static NV Force Backup.
This will copy the new values to the backup, and they will stick later on.
BTW, to be on the safe side, make sure to backup your dycnvbk, stanvbk and EFS.
Not working for me. Cause com.android.phone crash after dial. May be because my backup is corrupted. Later will try with stock backup. But thank you anyway.
I am using the stock image with the stock phone app.
I am using Mokee, chinese AOSP firmware. BTW, I just erased nv backup partition and keep playing with nv ram. Hope will not brick my phone ))

I searched but wasn't sure of the answer. I saw some say that the baseband on the 720 and 727 are the same. Will the 720 have band 12 working if I use in U.S.on T-Mobile? If not, is there a way to get it working?
I have now gone through every page of the question and answer section and have no answer. I'm now moving to the discussion section to research, but if anyone knows, please help.
You probably didn't look "every where".
X720 does not have support band 12
But there is a file you can flash to support band 12 on the x720
You have to flash the img file inside the zip file via fastboot (Assuming its unlocked)
Using the following command
Fastboot flash modem *insert zip file name here*.img
Insert the name the name of the image within the stars you see above and type .img at the end. Please dont include the *symbol when you type it out
Edit: Excuse my explanation its 2am
Edit 2: I'll upload my copy if the modem in a few minutes

To be totally honest, in theory if the software is flashed correctly, you should get B12 connectivity. Same thing applies with the Galaxy s7 series. You can flash a Sprint variant to T-Mobile for full T-Mobile support, and then flash that to Verizon for full Verizon support. But the Sprint variant doesn't support Verizon's frequencies until you flash the verizon software. If the radio hardware is the same between devices, you should be able to flash a 727 ROM for T-Mobile support. I'd say give it a shot and let us know! :good:
I tried it on an x720 and it wouldn't see the sim. I had the cm13 teamsuperluminal rom on it.
I had to flash the stock rom to get it to read my sim again. Make a backup first and have a copy of the stock rom before you flash just in case.

Interesting. Not sure what happened there. From what you're saying it looks like the x727 can be spoofed as a x720 but not the other way around. It should be dsds for multi-sim so it should have worked.

Hi all,
I have bought a Redmi 3s Prime last week. One problem I am facing is that if you turn on data services, if it is idling, speed drops to E and even G. The only way to get it back is to manually change network preference type from settings. What could be the problem? Is it a hardware issue?
Android version 6.0.1
MIUI version 8.2.5.0 (MALMIDL)

This is a known issue.
Is you have root, try to install Networl Signal Guru, then disable Edge (2g) frequencies.
Some people solve it using a second sim...
Second SIM even if dummy one will solve this problem, I'm using this option and managing my 32GB wisely as you will lose your sdcard slot. Nothing terrible for me as I need it the 2nd SIM anyways.
slds,
Your problem is well known, but still no solution from xiaomi.
Best i can suggest is that u check which frequencies your carrier uses.
If u got root, install Network Signal Guru.
Try disabling one of used WCDMA frequencies and then force 3G. if it doesnt work, try to disable the other frequencies
IT WORKED FOR ME D

Hardware. The firmware has nothing to say when it comes to Bands.
Remember:
hardware (physical thing) - components, real stuff
firmware - device software, specifically designed for a device and its hardware
software - all apps, can be copied and destroyed

You can easily fix that.
1) Install Magisk (you need TWRP)
2) Use Magisk Hide to hide Google, Google Pay and Google Play Services
3) In settings clean data and cache of Google Pay
4) Reboot to recovery (TWRP) and go to Advanced -> File Manager
5) Go here: /data/data/com.google.android.gms/databases/dg.db
6) Press chmod and write 440 - accept it. Then restart to system. Google Pay should work.
If you want to have the word "certified" in Google Play, you need download "Device ID" from Google Play, open this app then copy code from Google Service Framework (GSF) and go here: https://www.google.com/android/uncertified/. After entering the code from the GSF tab and pressing register, clear Google Play data and cache in the settings. Remember, to do this you need Magisk (root).

Firmware is special low level software to control hardware. In this case the modem firmware (non-hlos.bin) can control the qualcomm modem on each device in a different way even though the hardware is exactly the same. SD855 is always the same SoC (including its modem) on each device. With the low level software=firmware the SoC is controlled.

Yeah, that's why ROMs are called firmware. And that's why B20 can't be available in China version after Global ROM installed.

A ROM is consisting of firmware AND software parts. The only question is whether the modem part is open for changes or not. Telling to change the modem settings is impossible in general is just not true
The firmware vs hardware dispute seems hard to settle.
I still insist, though, that one rather simple way of putting all this to the test is to flash a Redmi K20 with the official Global ROM developed for the Mi 9T, whereafter a test is carried out to verify whether the Redmi K20 device has gained additional baseband functionality (e.g. B20 or some other band that is supported by the ROM/firmware of Mi 9T). If additional baseband functionality can be confirmed then we can assume that
(granted that the device also exhibits proper functionality in general):
a) the hardware of Redmi K20 and Mi 9T devices are identical
and
b) the baseband functionality de facto is firmware/ROM dependant — i.e. at least in this particular case.
We just have to find someone that can carry out this rather simple testing procedure.

Exactly, though I'd like to add: It's not just the global rom that needs to be flashed, but also the global modem firmware.
Please do that. As of yet, there are no posts, videos or documentation stating that the band20 issue can be resolved with "simply" changing the whatever root firmware, software roms etc (whatever you prefer) of the phone is needed.
It is indeed a little bit funny to think that they are physically making 2 different versions of the phone "just" for different band support (one of) if at all.
Anyways, if it truly isn't hardware related and a different software-rom-firmware is needed, but can't change it in any shape or form to make it work as intended I still do regard it as a fix that can't be solved. (as of now) - and if you are eager to buy yourself a new phone, just get the global version.

Is this, then, a fact beyond all doubt that these firmware entities, i.e. the ROM and Baseband firmware are two completely separate code packages?
Since there seem to be so many differing conceptions regarding this topic it would, for the sake of moving ahead in the inquiries, be of great importance to rule out all the existing and obscuring misconceptions.
An other question is how universally this applies when it comes to smartphones ROM and Baseband firmware implementations in general [I'm thinking of possible differences in implementation based on such attributes as smartphone brand/manufacturer, model, (geomarketing) version etc.].

A ROM is consisting of firmware AND software parts. The only question is whether the modem part is open for changes or not. Telling to change the modem settings is impossible in general is just not true

Does this mean that the code package of the Baseband firmware (always) forms an integrated but separate part of the ROM code package or a code package that is completely separate from the ROM?

You wil find a non-Hold.bin file inside the ROM when you extract the ROM. This is the modem firmware

Is the suggested modem firmware file completely resistant to [all] alteration (due to proprietary code and/or encryptation) or is alteration possible but changes won't take effect when flashing?
Can this code package/file be flashed separately or does it always require flashing the ROM (or other corresponding firmware components)?
