If you have unlocked the TMO variant and flashed International rom (9.0.9) version from McLaren edition, what's the difference. Got my TMO variant for $300.00 and the McLaren is $699.00.? What did the extra four hundred dollars get you? Is there something I'm missing?
The difference would be in the hardware - 2GB more RAM, faster charging, orange instead of black. If those aren't worth $400 to you, then you're not missing out.
If the extra ram is never accessed and all the hardware is the same, do you think with the software from the McLaren edition I will be able access Warp 30 charge? Doesn't sound like much of a difference. $50-$100 perahaps, but selling you the same stuff with a new name for an extra $400?

No.
The hardware is different. It will never Warp charge if it is not the McLaren version.
How is the hardware different?

The battery charging circuitry is different.
The traces on the board, etc are designed to carry more current.
This according to OnePlus.
Are you sure? I have heard everything is the same, the only difference is the software version and it isn't currently turned on in the 9.0.7 software version, where it is turned on in the 9.0.9 version.
save your money and start an IRA; your tmo phone never uses all the RAM it has, so why get even more "unused" RAM?
Another 400 bucks to charge the phone 10 minutes faster????

To be clear, the phone that you got is $580, not $300. You happened to pay $300 due to a special offer that not everyone can get. The question is what do you get for the extra $120, not $400.
Also, the closest comparison is the 8/256 model for $630, so the question is really what do you get for the extra $70. You get 2 extra GB of RAM, faster charging, and the unique look of the McLaren model.
Yes, it's different hardware. There are reviews out there.

I realize it was a special offer. So what? That is what I paid for the device and I traded my old OP 3 for it. But all of that is irrelevant, what I would like to know is there a difference in the hardware between the 6T and the McLaren Edition, what is it (Specifically)? I have heard people saying there is a physical difference and others that say the devices are identical and it merely a software difference where the capabilities are activated in one but not the other.
Some real answers would be helpful. Thanks

Just saying it or an article that fails to mention specifics doesn't answer the question. Please give a technical reference or I would like to hear if someone has flashed 9.0.9 and tried the Warp 30 charger. Generalities from an article that was probably written using press clippings probably provided by OnePlus is not a true test or answer.

I read that article. The regular 6T wasn't running 9.0.9. I want to know how that particular software that comes with the McLaren is different from the 9.0.7, which is the latest for the standard 6T.

What! You got the 6T for $300. Dang, you must feel superior to others when you got the phone for $300. So smart, man. I want to be like you when I grow up.

Devices share same model number 6013. Therefore I must doubt the hardware was changed. It's like a law that when you change hardware you change the ID or sub-revision etc. to be able to identify this yourself. I think the changed hardware sits in the charger itself.

Trading in a phone with T-Mobile to get credits spread out over 24 months is why you got your phone for $300.
Just to be far, T-Mobile variant is $580 and McLaren is $699. That is a $119 difference not $400.
So you are getting warp charge, 2 gb ram extra, and 256 gb vs 128gb. PLUS McLaren inspired design. All that for $119. I don't think that is outrageous. Priced Right.

You don't get it. Here is an example of what I am referring to. The TMO variant has one sim card and one IMEI associated with it, however when you flash the International rom, the second IMEI and sim become active. In other words, it was there all along and merely software activated. Could this not be possible with all 6Ts? It would seem more likely, as well as cost effective, to develop one phone with slight variations in software versus developing several phones side by side with different hardware and technologies. Since they are legally required to drop the name Dash, going forward everything will be Warp and since all versions of the 6T we're built simultaneously, it makes little sense that they would release the same phone (a month apart) that have totally different technological capabilities. It makes more sense that the differences are merely software related. Different physical phones, that are the same model, would create multiple headaches when it would come to support. That is why in Enterprise scenarios, the same hardware is rolled out to the masses, with only software differences determing what can and can not be done or accessed with any device.
Hey Jimmy. The McLaren has different hardware. The 2GB RAM isnt just magic'd up with firmware. The battery technology is different from the regular 6T as well is the internals of the 6T to support the greater power input of the 30W warp charger. It charges to 50%, 50% quicker than the regular 6T. Cosmetically, the McLaren looks so much better. Is it with the extra dough, hell yeah, everytime. Id sell your basic model or return it or something if I were you and get the McLaren.. maybe too late though. Sold out.

It's different.
Even if the battery is the same (it's not) he charging circuitry on the phone IS different.
There was an interview with OnePlus and they indicated that the traces (wires) that connect to the charger and battery are larger to support more current.

Hi.
I´m new at this forum. I have been reading it for years, but now I have decided to sign in. I would like to ask you about the OPO. I have been waiting for an invite several weeks in diferent webs, but without prize, so I have been searching for a good supplier. You would buy an OPO without invite? I want this phone and as I have been waiting for more than 8 weeks I want to buy it now. I have found a supplier that looks good, and with a very good price, may I post the link here to get checked by you? I have been talking with him and he can set an special price for the forum if there is people interested in it. Waiting for your reply. Have a nice day:good:
Please note that I´m not trying to do spam, I have no posted the link yet because I don´t want problems. If you want the link posted I´ll post it here.

Additionally I would ask whether or not his version comes with ColorOS or CM otherwise you may have to flash CM over it. Sorry I don't know the bands for Europe, I couldn't tell you.
Given OPO can't seem to make enough international versions and so ship straight from the factory to consumers, I'd agree these are likely to be the Chinese edition which anyone can get relatively easily. There's LTE unknowns as well as warranty concerns.
Plus, the term 'special price' almost always means a tidy profit for those involved except the buyer. Not something I'd get involved with given the risks and unknowns.
I would guard against linking anything as, despite claims to the contrary, the OP has more than a whiff of a sales pitch about it that aims to attract PMs.

I chatted with the seller and he said that is the Chinese edition and can sell the phone for 357,99$ instead 421$ that appears in his advert, and I want only to ask if its a good price and if you would buy it if were me. Hope to get this solved, I only want help, anything more. I have been reading about the bands and seems like will work in Europe, but if someone can confirm this would be great.

I have a Chinese OPO purchased from Aliexpress. I'm using it in Europe (Greece) and it works just fine. Never had any issues with dropped calls and mobile data works great. Everything is as stable as you'd expect.
Bought the 64GB white version for 350 euros including shipping through FedEx. All in all, yes I'd recommend buying outside of the invite system if you do your research beforehand.

So you do get 4g in greece with chinese opo?
If you live outside America you should pretty much be fine with the bands the Chinese One Plus supports: Importing the One Plus One From China - LTE Bands & What You Need To Know
Do your research and you will be fine, importing is the way to go. I've had the phone for over 2 months now and am loving it. :good:
I bought mines from swappa. International version 64gb Sandstone
I just bought the 64GB Chinese model from Hong Kong Goldway on Aliexpress yesterday. Waiting for it to ship and should have it next week hopefully. The bands work fine here so no dramas. AU$500 total which included 3 day DHL shipping. I'm from the UK so getting a flagship phone like this for 280 GBP is amazing.
Bought the 16gb version from to2c.com
Could choose between color os and multilanguage version. Chose for the second one and had it in two weeks (to the netherlands). Everything works fine. Connectivity is good. Only 4g is very limited

Will it be your daily driver? If so, I'd look at something that I could get repaired easily and quickly in places I traveled to. Preferably something with a lot of worldwide service centers. Or have two phones (not necessarily two of the same) in case one needed to be repaired for a certain period of time.
If you read the various OPO boards, you'll know just getting a support ticket acknowledged can take time. Additionally, if you travel frequently, you might not be in one place long enough to hang around for a replacement to be sent to your location. A walk-in, no fuss model like Apple does with it's stores is a good 'safety net'. But it costs.
I run two phones. Either my 5s or M7 as primary with OPO as my backup since I'm mostly ROM testing at the moment. Wouldn't have a problem with the OPO as primary but I'd not take it as my only phone. And no way would I use just an OPO if traveling or on business for the reasons above.

Arguably the worst customer service in the industry, slow to no updates on devices inside of two years old, customers are treated like marketing mules, lack of accountability to customers when issues arise.
Oh, and It seems like I'm reading more and more from XDA about One Plus and Benchmark cheating, devices prone to getting hacked, ect.
Save up those coins and get a better device. 8gb of RAM is worthless.

That was a pretty decent response. I myself had a OnePlus 3T before the Pixel XL. Wasn't impressed with the device. Camera on it was horrible. I had no idea about their customer service issues though.
I own OP3 and Pixel XL, That cheap price can lure you.. OP3 beats it in battery life, Charging speed, The UI is faster, Ton of development, Audio is a ton better.. Speakers/3.5mm jack
Obviously 2k display, EAS, Updates/Source is better on Google devices and Customer support but remember 1+ is a start up from 3 years ago
OP3 6/64GB £309
Pixel XL 4/32GB £719
Huge price difference for what you are getting from both devices.. Pixel isn't flawless had it's fair share of issues
I don't think OP will implement CDMA adds a lot of cost to the device something they're trying to avoid hard to give everyone everything while being cheap as possible
the essential phone does not have cdma...but it works on Verizons network purely on LTE which is pretty much everywhere

Strange considering it's launching as an "exclusive" on a CDMA carrier in the US (Sprint) and the website indicates CDMA EV-DO Rev A support.
That fugly home button on the front kills it for me.
I think it looks sick but there's a reason it's cheaper.. essential on sprint... That sucks.

I've heard that and it makes me curious...how is it more expensive exactly? The Snapdragon chips have the CDMA radios built into the chip...all Oneplus has to do is turn them on.....the Snapdragons have LTE band 13 on the chips all oneplus has to do is turn them on.
I don't see how activating these radios would cost them anything...

It costs them a lot to get certified on the Verizon network.
Originally Nextbit said the Robin would be certified for Sprint and Verizon but then had to retract that due to the excessive costs involved from the carriers.

Can they just enable the bands and not get the phones certified? I mean at least make it possible, then let us deal with getting it to work. I know the phone wouldn't be whitelisted but it seems like even non whitelisted phones have at least some success getting verizon and sprint now. I also thought that one of the stipulations of one of verizion band purchases, I think 13, was that they basically had to let basically any phones on the network that were able to use it.

yup, might as well use the money difference to buy a 128GB or 256GB microSD that works as internal storage in Nougat
coincidently that's how I have mine setup, added 128 GB (Samsung EVO+ Pro super fast) for a total of 192 GB storage
can't find a reputable 25 6GB anywhere. I don't trust those that claims to be 256 GB from eBay and similar places

I actually ended up calling them and it took them a bit to confirm it will ship with 6GB of RAM. Im returning the solar red and upgraded to the 6/128 model. They said other color variants would surface in about 3 weeks. But as other users have stated, HTC is not the most reliable when coming from customer and chat support. So I'll take it with a grain of salt. If any other user hear wishes to upgrade or consider the new U11. Use this code to get 50 off your new device "AMAZINGU11" to bring the price to 679.99
This really kind of pisses me off. I pre-ordered on May 31st with 50 dollars off and got the sapphire. Then they dropped the solar red and I was mildly irritated but dropping the 6/128GB has me fuming right now. HTC said they weren't bringing that model to the US and I'm definitely past the return period (phone arrived June 8th). All of us who were loyal to HTC got screwed. First they remove the text that says bootloader unlock doesn't void the warranty and now they pull this? -_-

I completely understand your situation, I was 6 days away from my 30 day return window. You could always get some money back on swappa. I know it's not the perfect solution but if you really want the upgrade it's better than nothing. I have come to accept smartphones use the same marketing as high end pcs. After 6 months, your devices are obsolete.

It's not so much that I need that model, it's the fact that I would have gotten it if HTC didn't lie about availability in the states. Truth be told, I'm so used to managing with 32GB phones that 64GB is plenty and 6GB of RAM is a total waste (my phone averages 2.6GB-2.8GB used, I've never seen it higher - adding more just seems pointless) but for 80 bucks, I would have done it.
For a company that is struggling to stay alive, they sure are getting adept at pissing off their loyal customers. I had the M7, the M8, skipped the M9 because of the Snapdragon 810, and I have the 10. I've had tons of HTC devices (see my signature) and now they are pulling things like promising the U11 warranty wouldn't be void by unlocking the bootloader just to remove it later to changing the firmware so that it's impossible to have permanent S-OFF to releasing new colors and now a higher speced model they said wasn't coming here... A lot of us are going to end up dropping HTC if they keep this garbage up. HTC needs to be reminded that they are no longer the dominant smartphone force they were in the Windows Mobile and early Android days.
I mean I just got mine a week or so ago. So I knew the higher end model was coming and I have a 128 GB SD card and a TON of flac music files that are large and use over 100 GB and I'm not even sweating it. To ME, the extra money isn't worth it because I'm fine with 192 gig's and 4gb ram.
Unfortunately for you, sometimes that happens when you're an early adopter. I got the 7,8,9,10 all when they first came out so I got burned on the 9 and the thermal issues. So this one, being on Verizon and having no CDMA radio I sat back for a while and saw all the yapping about dropped network, etc. So I took a chance and bought it from Amazon that has a great return policy and couldn't be happier. I thought about the 128 but all my HTCs up to this one have been silver and since that's all that's available now for pre-order, I couldn't be happier than the Sapphire Blue. I've had Samsung,LG, Moto, and am a beta tester for HTC and Moto and I can tell you with certainty that HTC isn't the only company who is confused as hell about what is happening. My Moto I was a freakin rom tester and the people I was dealing with in tech has no idea what was going on in sales and development. It's crazy but it seems to be somewhat the norm.

I am normally just as picky but I am more than happy with this device. The best, most amazing mobile phone experience I've ever had so I will not let it it bother me. I'm actually proud of HTC and proud to support them. On top of all the freebies they have given me when they did not have to. $100 for free accessories, another $50 just for the heck of it and another $50 for a broken HTC Klik case, and then majorly reduced prices on HTC 10 accessories, I am still within my 30 days but I will keep this great device and keep using it with Verizon.

Use this code to get 50 off your new device "AMAZINGU11" to bring the price to 679.99

man! not again... no no no, why!!! ? HTC why ?!?! you do this to me.??!!
geez... I always wanted to 128GB version, but I thought that was only for the Other side of the planet.
I'd have waited for the 128 GB version had they announced it before.
They'll think i'm playing games with them, and keep returning phones, to order them again and again. LOL
after the initial release of the HTC U11 got two, returned them to get 2 red, now they account 128 GB, ... that means I'll most likely return these 2 red ones, for 2 new 128 GB... hopefully in red.

128GB comes with amazing silver only for now. Yo may want to ask them if they are going to offer it in red in the near future. =b
Straight from the horse's mouth peeps. The description has been updated on the HTC website and confirms 100% that the 128GB model ships with 6GB RAM

Well of course you're happy, that's a lot of freebies.
I got 50 off my U11, that's it. Oh and the free Iceview case for the 10 along with a second charger and cable. That case was horrible though... it was really cheap plastic. Worth maybe 2 dollars.
I do love the phone and I do love supporting HTC but pulling S-OFF and the warranty shenanigans irks me. I guess we will have to see if they reverse course or not.
My phone is pretty much flawless so even if I could trade it in, I wouldn't risk it with all the complaints about dead/stuck pixels, light bleed, etc.

If the Iceview case was built to last longer it would have been one of the best cases I ever owned. I did not need a screen protector with it and it did not allow dust and dirt to get in like the rest of the cases. The HTC 10 aluminum is very soft and get nicked very easily just by dust getting in. I never had that problem until the case split and started using the HTC Klik. Now I wish the U11 wallet case had some type of front window.
I was THRILLED to see the 128/6 model finally released in the U.S. Getting one asap. To bad T-Mobile won't be carrying the u11. Sucks for them. But sucks for us too for those who would have benefited from 0% financing.

What exactly do you mean??? Their own website says that they will unlock the bootloader AND still honor the warranty. So I am not sure what you mean.
Is there a new announcement to say otherwise?
As most of you guys probably already know there are rumors around this phone's possibility of getting carrier support with T Mobile in the United States.
Because carrier support is kind of important in the US as most Americans buy their phones from their carrier, do you think that this is a major step for OnePlus and it will case it to be a more recognizable name in the US cell phone market... and not just some enthusiast brand?
Well, I'm just one person, but if it hits T-Mo, I'm buying it. That simple.
Same here, I'll be looking for it at my T-Mobile store!

Same
No headphone jack, no notification LED, no sale. I use both all the time. It amazes me the cheap excuses these companies make to eliminate features. The truth is that they are just trying to make more money per sale. They must think we are all as stupid as they are!
I don't have TMobile but I'm buying unlocked.
Either way. But buying from one plus direct is better
Assuming the Pixel 3 doesn't make it to T-Mobile - this will be my next phone.
IPhone Xs/Xs Max preorders aren't very strong as per reports.
A huge chunk of users might like a far cheap Android alternative in the 6T.
Plain and simple. Having it released on T-Mobile only means those who can't afford to buy it out right from OnePlus could now put it on EIP..... So I kind of doubt there will be enough of those people to generate it as "a hit"

I'm a tmo user and willl be purchasing it upon release!
You do have to remember this will be putting the phone in front of a bunch of people who never heard of OnePlus. This will open up the door for more customers that would not even know to go to OnePlus.com to buy the phone. ?* I dont know, I think it could help make the OnePlus6T much much more successful

This is xda and no one is asking the important question; will the bootloader be unlocked? No amount of available from the carrier can overcome the lack of bootloader unlock. Another thing no one is skiing is available freqs, you're giving something up for that low freq (at least one, possibly two LTE bands) it isn't available in many areas and won't be for some time.

I don't believe OnePlus will tie down the bootloader. I think it will be easily unlocked through fastboot per usial. I believe OP knows it's fan base is comprised of hardcore Android users who like to tinker and flash custom firmware and mods. Frequencies I can't chime in on as I'm not knowledgeable enough about them
The situation just the opposite, Tmo decides and oneplus will gladly provide the locked bootloader phones if they ask.
This will be a major jump for OnePlus. I for one have been looking for something unique and when I found OnePlus; I became very interested in their product. For what the Iphone X cost; you could get similar features with the OnePlus for just half the cost. OnePlus 6T will definitely turn heads in the United States. Striking a deal with T-Mobile will also open up the doors for other smart phone manufactures. If sales are good; which they will be; one could only assume that one of Oppo's other companies would want to strike a deal with a U.S. carrier.
The 6T is definitely on my radar to replace my beloved Nexus 6.
But unlocked bootloader is a must. I've walked away from upgrades to other phones due locked bootloaders.
And I am really interested to hear what the difference is between a TMo-"optimized" OnePlus6, and one bought directly from OnePlus. Exactly what optimizations are there?
So I won't be an early adopter. I'll be a fast follower once others report back.
[NG]Owner
NGOwner, that's a good question. TMo-"optimized" I assume would mean that it will have a much better chemistry with our LTE bands.
As for the success of the phone; it will also depend on the area that your in. In some areas the phone will have high sales as compared to others, that won't. It all depends how good T-Mobile's floor staff are. In some areas people don't do as much research on these smart devices as others. New York City and and various places in California will probably have the highest turnouts for sales for the OnePlus 6T. I can tell you that in my area; I will probably be able to turn some heads when I show this phone to people in public. It sounds funny; but it's true.
One question I do have is about pre orders? Since this phone is going to be released on T-Mobile; will their stores allow customers to put down pre-orders?
Saw this T-Mobile version info in Android Authority a while ago...
"According to the CNET article, OnePlus isn’t just going to sell the global variant of the OnePlus 6T in T-Mobile stores. Instead, there will be another T-Mobile-specific model that will be optimized for the carrier’s network.
And yes, that will include support for 600mHz bands, otherwise known as band 71."
Tmo was never going to sell an international oneplus in their stores. The questions are how much if any branding will it have, which Tmo apps come pre-installed, is the bootloader unlocked, which LTE freqs did we lose to get the 600 mhz goods. For most people the last question isn't all that important but I travel a great deal and it's a big one for me.
Does anyone knows when OP store will have back to stock the OP8pro?
I really, really wouldn't count on it any time soon. Given the pandemic, it's tough to say when it'll be back in stock as suppliers cannot provide parts to assemble the phone. And even if it does, there are many people that will literally buy it the moment it's available. I'm willing to bet if it ever does get back in stock, it'll sell out in minutes just like it did when it was first released. I actually read somewhere that it was sold out in 30 seconds or so.
If 5G doesn't matter to you, you're okay with not having specific bands, and are willing to flirt with the idea of no real warranty from OnePlus - I'd recommend you look into the IN2020 version. The 8Pro with 256GB of storage can be had for 903$ right now from trusted seller never-msrp.
I should've bought one in hindsight instead of paying a ridiculous markup on a used IN2025, but the one I snagged came with the much desired wireless warp charger and plenty of goodies, so it didn't sting as much.

Is there any issue with buying from Amazon? See warranty, it's the exact same phone, delivered in 48 hours. That's how I got mine.
Edit: nevermind, I should've read the rest of the thread before trying, lol
OnePlus told me they would have more of them in stock at the end of June. Don't get the IN2020 if you're on Tmobile or Sprint. The IN2025 is one of only 11 phones that work with Tmobile's N71 band and neither the IN2020 or the IN2023 pickup 600MHZ.
