Hey, I was wondering if anyone has RCS from VZW working on the pixel 2 XL?
Saw on a Droid life post, the comments section, someone said there 2xl was working with RCS on VZW.

I don't believe Verizon has announced any timeline for RCS support on pixel 2 yet, only pixel 3.

You must want this feature really bad to post the same post in two different threads. Lol
Yeah, I got it by editing build.prop information, but it breaks portrait mode on the rear facing camera. Cannot figure out how to get them both working at the same time. I am fairly amateur even though I have followed many guides, I am just starting to figure out how it works.

Hello everyone. I recently switched from Iphone to Android and I am loving it so far. Bought the nexus 6p Gold over a week ago.
I am having problems with the the microphone. When I talk to someone is seems like they hear me very bad, like I am inside a submarine or very far away from the phone, which is odd because I was just holding the phone the normal way. I tested the mic on a recording app and I can hear myself very clearly. I have re searched and seems like a lot of people had/have this problem. I read something about the noise canceling thing on the back being an issue. And the best result would be to disable it. persist.audio.fluence.voicecall = put this to false or something. Anyways I was wondering if anyone can guide me through the steps on achieving this. I am running N 7.1.1, I currently have pixel launcher(loving it). I just want a simple root to get the mic working right on calls. I like the speed and design of the pixel launcher and would love to keep that and if I can get google assistant, even better if not its okay, I just want to use my phone to call people and for them to be able to hear me clearly... THANKS IN ADVANCE
I haven't had any issues with my mic but I assume you want to edit the build prop. I would use the Nexus Root Toolkit http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/ and Wug has a buid prop edit tool that I like and root is not needed. If you have root on 7.0 then get a build prop tool from the app store. I would hold off on getting 7.1.1 for now. I know it's tempting but this is release 1 and I'v been seeing several issue threads and it's best let the pros work out the bugs. It won't take long before you see a full step guide for 7.1.1. Be Patient
This is a hardware problem. Exchange it ASAP.

Do you have a case or screen protector? Was it like this when you 1st got it? Did you put 7.1 on it or did it come that way? If it was me I would; take off any case or screen protector, do a clean wipe, then grab the factory 7.1, https://developer.android.com/preview/download.html and try that, no TWRP or root yet. If its still an issue, like @therock3181 said, I would think its a hardware prob.
Thanks for the reply. The phone is already in 7.1.1. Any way to downgrade? Whats your suggestion?

I don't have a screen protector. I got it on 7. On 6 it was working fine apparently, according to previous owner. Right now it is on 7.1.1. The weird this is that every voice recording app, or like messenger that i use to send voice messages works great its just in calls.

Hello. It is asking me for the current build that I am running. I don't see 7.1.1. what should I select?
Since you said to flash 7.0, I am assuming I select 7.0 Build from the list? There are 4 different 7.0 builds. Let me know
Thanks

Okay, So I was reading the options to flash stock/unroot and it says I need to be unlocked first in order to run that script. Help?
Alright, I figured out a way to go back to 7.0. I left the Android beta program and It gave me a 7.0 N download to go back. Now I am on 7.0. What do I do from here?

This is the first phone I have bought that is not a Verizon phone of some kind. I just ordered a XL tonight from Google store. Said I would have it Thursday. I am coming over from the Turbo. Been a good phone for the last 2 years. I will unlock the bootloader, looks easy enough. Will this have a hotspot app? For now the only thing I want is too unlock and get the hot spot to work. Is it called something different? Maybe I just don't know what I should be looking for. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction. I don't mind reading.
Thanks

There is the mobile hotspot that you can use but with VZW it checks to see if you've paid for the tethering subscription. With a rooted device there are a few ways to bypass the subscription check and use the hotpsot for free.

What plan do you have with Verizon? If not on an unlimited plan, hotspot functionality is baked into the OS and works seamlessly.

Thanks for your reply. I do have still an old Alltel plan with unlimited data. Some other people here I see have missed the main question I have. Maybe I did not ask it right. I have never owned a non Verizon phone. I don't have my new phone yet. I think it ships today. Does it have an app on it for hotspot? Is it called this still on non Verizon phones? Maybe I am making more of this then needed. I just did not know if this was a Verizon thing or phone thing.
Really all I want to do with this is unlock it and make a hot spot work. I'm not going to do much else with it. From reading here before I bought the phone it seemed a good move to buy from google then from Verizon.
Thanks for the help.
Hotspot is built into the rom. You toggle/adjust it just like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth in the settings menu an/or pulldown shade.
However, if you're on a Verizon unlimited plan then it won't work unless the build.prop is edited. You can do this with a file explorer, using a build.prop editor app (my preference), with adb, or by installing a rom that already has the edit made. You can search the forum for those instructions. I'm in the same situation as you and have hotspot working.

Thanks you. I will do some reading on this. In my turbo all I did was make a change in the build.prop file. I just did not know if anything would change with non Verizon and newer software on the phone. I paid a long time ago for SQLite so once I'm unlocked and rooted this should work I hope. I have some reading to do.
Thanks again.

The hotspot feature is a part of Android. It does, however, check your carrier subscription to see if hotspot functionality is allowed on your plan upon launching. This is why I asked about data plan earlier.
I hope it works for you, otherwise there are workarounds (root and non-profit methods) available on this forum. Good luck!
So I was enjoying this on my NON-ROOTED Note 9 but unfortunately, there's no support for non-rooted 6T's. I was wondering if anyone here knows another way to apply black themes to my apps (especially WhatsApp) through non-rooted methods. I have the Tmo variant and I'm not gonna be able to pay if off for a while so rooting is out of the question.
If there's no solution I guess I'll just live with this. Substratum also doesn't work. Again, that was working on my non-rooted N9. *shrugs*

Ya know...some basic research would answer your question.
Simply put, you're "non-rooted" Note worked because you were on OREO. PIE disabled Substratum themes from working unless they have a signature...what XDA has come to these days...

I guess busy/lazy folks? Sorry for insulting you. This is why Telegram chat groups should be allowed to be advertised here. Rules should be amended and evolved to help this because it could save you from the terrible penalty (on my part) of making you read stuff like this.
I am sorry.

Lol. Non rooted. Its still on oreo thats why. Pie disabled overlays and will only work if ur rooted.
Theres a lot of tmobile users that successfully unlocked their 6t even if its not paid off. Just read other forums.
Next time, research.
yep, the only things I want my unlock.bin file for will be Subs and Viper...miss Subs alot from my note 8, but patience is a virtue..

I did. Setting aside your uselessly snippet attitude. It just seems strange that on one unrooted phone it would work and not the other. At least to me. If this is strange to you that it's seems strange to me then I don't know what to tell ya. Folks on the N9 on Pie are still using this. Unrooted. Which is why I was wondering out loud.
Best.

I expect everyone to stay on topic and respect fellow users. Also as far as installer is concerned root is mandatory on Pie and sub/andromeda wont work on Pie either so the only way to apply overlays is to unlock which you can do so even without being paid. Just check the unlock threads for T-Mobile version.
Thanks,
Funk
There's been too many folks on here telling me otherwise. I guess they are mistaken.
Hi All,
I have a OP6T and my fiance has the S8+. Technically the S8+ has the universal RCS built in now. OP6T should have it too or at least I think it does using android messages. However, I can't seem to get it to work between the two devices. I can never see the read/typing things that we usually get with the Samsung to Samsung phones.
I have tried different apps on the OP6T and nothing. I have heard other people with older OP phones having success with RCS using google messages.
Can anyone explain how to get it working or if it is even possible?
Have you tried Google Message from Play Sore? I have a feeling the built-in message doesn't support RCS.

Is this a phone/ROM thing? I thought the universal profile was on Android 8+.
Thanks for the answers, guys!
I recently switched from a Samsung S8+ to a OP 8pro and haven't been able to get Verizon's Call Filter Plus app to work on this phone. I called into tech support and they are unfamiliar with the issue and could not provide any fix from their end. They claimed it was a compatibility issue between OP and VZW. I have gone through the CDMA-less process and had tech support fix all voicemail issues and sms issues but not having any luck with this so far.
Has anyone else ran into this issue and if so has anyone discovered a fix? I know there are 3rd party caller ID apps but honestly the functionality of the Verizon app is much better than anything else I have found.
TIA

The OP isn't compatible with the Filter Plus service I'm very used to Filter Plus, I love it enough that I opted to not go for an OP for this sole reason... sorry buddy
AFAIK only the Call Filter Basic/Free is compatible

Thank you, just confirmed what I was fearing. I miss the days of being able to have a phone do anything you needed it to. I went to the OP because Samsung locked out call recording. OP has been great for solving that problem but now I am finding all the other little sacrifices that I wasn't expecting to make.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
