Samsung J3 Pro (SM-J3110) Custom Rom - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Questions & Answers

Asalam Alaikum! (Greetings)
I am having issue on connecting my Samsung on Odin, when i put my Samsung in Download Mode and Check Odin, there is no device shows and also Taskbar shows Unknown Device. Is there any Custom Rom available for Samsung J3 Pro (SM-J3110) which i can put on memory card and installed it, because my mobile has TWRP Recovery installed.
Thank You,
Regards,

Maybe you receive a (more) suitable answer if you post in one of the respective Samsung J3 forums:

Alaikum salam
Did you downloaded the samsung drivers??

Custom rom
I searched in the net and now I know that there is no any custom rom for this phone (sm-j3110) but u can make one using your PC or your mobile phone.
1.download its official rom
2.decompile your rom and extract system.img.ext4 and boot.img both.(winrar need)
3.decompile system.img.ext4 file ( many apps available for PC to do this but in android just android image studio (ais) =>( This app does not require root)available)
4.put all files and folders into a folder and rename it as system
5.download the file which exists in https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...oid-o-beta-redesigned-emoji-set-t3608280/amp/ and then extract the meta-inf folder.
6.create a new folder and rename it as custom rom and move the system folder which you make it in step 4 ,move boot.img file and meta-inf which you extracted it in step 5
7.compress all as custom rom
8.put the custom rom into you sd card and after wipping data and cache ,install the custom rom, magisk and nano package of 5.1 arm gapps
9.reboot your device and enjoy ☺☺☺

Your device maybe take bootloop so do it with your own risk and I'm not responsible for the problems

I also like to know how to backup the original firmware before i am flashing to a custom ROM, but i can't find a solution for this problem.
hope someone knows what to do
I think you can't. Only if there's a way to look in your system folders using your computer. Maby you can copy your firmware files from your system to your sd Using a file manager (like bluetooth file manager or androzip or something)?

You've got a PM >
Remember, you CANNOT install the stock Roms from within the recovery.
To install a stock ROM, all you have to do is:
- Create a folder on the SD card named "dload"
- Get the contents (usually 2 big files) of the stock Rom archive and place them on the "dload" folder.
- Switch off the phone and press Vol+, Vol- and Power.
The stock Rom installation is automatic and you don't have to do anything during installation.
oh ok, good to know.

I would advise against resizing the partitions, as it's difficult to restore them in case you need the phone for warranty.
I've sent you a PM with some info, let me know if you need more.

Galaxy On5 system dump does not exist. Download the stock ROM from sammobile. Rename .tar.md5 to .tar, take system.img file inside .tar using winrar, then extract system.img with the tool called ImageExtractor (search in XDA). To extract system.img, just drag and drop img file to ImageExtractor.exe. ., you'll see the "system_" folder. . .
To deodex the system, use Lollipop Deodexer
The boot.img can be taken from .tar file.
Do you have Galaxy J2? Are you trying to port the ROM just for Theme Center? Porting ROM from device with the same SoC is possible

Yes, i know that procedure, but i asked here hoping that someone have already a dump ready
For the images i use a tool called ext4explorer (i don't know if the name is correct, but is something similiar to this)
No, i'm not porting this rom to the j2, but to the S5 Mini, because it haven't already Marshmallow, even if it's capable to run in. I've done some researches and i found that the exynos3475 is very similiar to the one used in the S5 Mini (exynos 3470). The On5 Pro is the unique 3475 device that have a non-carrier bloated/locked ROM, so i'll work on it.
Thanks for the tricks:good:

Android 7.0 on P9 lite

I found a site with a tutorial on how to install Android 7.0 on P9 lite.On version VNS-L31C636B361 there are 3 files, and acording to them, you need to follow these steps:
Extract the contents of the zip files you downloaded from above.
Create a folder named “dload” in the root directory of your device’s SDcard.
Copy all the extracted contents of the zips into the dload folder.
Open the dialer app and dial *#*# 2846579#*# *
Select Project Menu > Software upgrade > SDcard upgrade > confirm the installation.
The firmware will begin installing and once that is done your device will reboot automatically.
But the problem is, if I extract all the contents from all 3 files, some of them have the same name and overwrite, and when I try to install by *#*# 2846579#*# *, it stops after 5% and gives me fail error.
What is the correct way to install and why are there 3 separate files ? (also, do I need to have some settings ? the phone should be connected to PC while installing ? )
Thank you very much!
What model you have?
Seems you have another oeminfo...
i have the same problem, it runs now on version vns-l31c432b161, if a want to install android 7 i get the same message as above

EDIT: i tried again and it stucks on 5%, doesnt say anything.
Good to know!
If you are in MM 6.0 you can not go to Nougat 7.0 without some preparation until Huawei release official version.
I you are already in Nougat 7.0 (B3xx) you can go to B360-B361, directly with Sdcard upgrade or with three keys pressed method.
U dint answer my question though.Let me be more clear.
Here is a tutorial on how to install Android 7.0 on P9 Lite: http://www.droidviews.com/update-huawei-p9-lite-manually-official-android-7-0-nougat-emui-5-0/
On my model, there are 3 files:
4. VNS-L31C636B361
update.zip
update_data_full_VNS-L31_B360_hw_meafnaf.zip
update_data_full_VNS-L31_B361_hw_meafnaf.zip
and they say
Extract the contents of the zip files you downloaded from above.
Create a folder named “dload” in the root directory of your device’s SDcard.
Copy all the extracted contents of the zips into the dload folder.
But some of the files from these 3 .zips have the same name, and when I copy them in the same folder, they overwrite.
Is that tutorial sh1t ?

Rom porting tutorial for beginers

Its all about MTK
This porting guide is succesfull for beginers for porting Roms using SMART PHOBES
#PC can also be used for this porpose
I'am currently using MTK 6582 .This method is 100 % working
____starting rom porting_____
1) create 2 folders called port and stock
2)extract port rom in port folder and system (folder of your stock) in stock
3) replace boot img for stock to port
[You can also use custum kernals]
4) Delete vendor folder and replace it
5) Delete this files
Systel/lib/hw
/modules
/etc/wifi
/firmware
Repace this with your stock

/libvcodecdrv.so
/etc/apns.conf.xml
/vold.fstab
/vold.fstab.nand
If you was porting from diferent key phase phones please replace system/user/keylayouts/generic.kl
7) change your mountpoints with your stock
8) now using 7zip from playstore compress the system, boot.img, meta

points to be noted
@ if recovery shows zip as bad compress it with solid explorer
@you have to use same version of androi
