Not Receiving OTA Updates on Galaxy S8 - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Got this S8 from a friend of mine. The phone itself is all original and isn't rooted. Yet I'm not receiving any OTA released to this day. The one that's currently installed is of May 2017 (that's when the phone came out last year). Tried checking if it was rooted or is the knox tripped but it wasn't. Phone is all stock. According to Sammobile, the latest update for this CSC came out on December 2nd 2018. But I haven't received even a single update yet. Please guide how to receive OTA updates. Thanks.
Model: G950FD

You can try to flash with odin the most recent update of your CSC and see if something changes. This won't trip the Knox or void your warranty, so you should be good to go.

But that might brick the phone. I don't want that to happen.

Nah, flashing a Samsung firmware through Odin is fine as long as you do it correctly. I just did it to debrand my S8 from WIN (Wind carrier in italy) to ITV (Italy unbranded CSC). You just need to do the steps correctly and you should be fine. If you want some help on how to do it, I'm in.

It's kinda tricky, but I found a video on how to do it:
Just follow these steps and you should be fine. If you have any questions, write them here.

[Q] N9005 Lollipop stock rom. Does it matter if...

I have an N9005 model Note 3, now I bought this second hand from eBay, and it is unlocked. Though it still shows an O2 boot up animation, so I'm guessing it was unlocked from O2?.. My question here is, I've noticed on Sammobile that there are now some Lollopop firmware updates available for my device, however, I don't see any unbranded version for the United Kingdom, only Vodafone? So if I flash this, will it have any repercussions on device operability, such as losing unlock (I am on Three UK sim card), or does it just mean that I will have vodafone branding?
EDIT: Sorry, mods please move into correct section.

1. Yeah and you have the correct firmware if you see the boot animation of O2.
2. Don't flash other different STOCK roms that aren't this ONES if your device works ok.
3. The latest firmware for your device is N9005XXUGNG1.
4. Wait for lollipop stock update via OTA or taking a look sometimes the step 2 (you will have to use ODIN then)
5. Enjoy

In theory NO. But all depends what method they/you used for unlock your device :highfive: (normally they unlock it by IMEI and you have your device unlocked forever)

Okay, great. So, I should definitely wait for O2U? I can't flash Vodafone? Could I flash a BTU when it arrives? Or is it just a definite O2U?

Better wait for O2U updates for avoid problems (No wifi, IMEI null, no data, can't make or receive calls, bootloops, etc) but the phone is yours. You can flash what you want :highfive:

Change software from another location???!

I have S6 Edge+ South East Europe software version. Can I install UK version? Could it trigger Knox or make some problem in bootloader or something else. I did this on Note 4, but I have forgot how it went. Last year.

What about csc? It remains as it was in original rom, right? Then OTA wont work, yes?
Up for ota question.
Cant you go back another rom if security version is lower?
And when you go back, will ota work?
if you intall another ROM the phone will rssult having the original CSC and the new one so OTA won't work.
to have the new CSC stick, you need to hard reset afte flashing, i read somewhere

G928I Update question

Hello guys.
It's been 2 months since samsung started rolling out MM update for SGS6E+, and most of them (no carrier locked) already received it.
I have G928I, not locked, not branded, bought in official Samsung store in Singapore, but still no sign of MM.
Is it normal for phones in this region to receive update months after others do?

Well the thing is, i still want to be able to use features such as Deep Sleep and Knox.
Will it trip my knox kounter, or will the "firmware swap" work just as normal update?

Not the HOME_CSC !!!
There you will see Android 6.0.1. This download and unpack.
Back up your data and use Odin Flashing.
Device setup and updates.
Update Download and install.
Have fun with it
It could be that the update on Android 7.0 is no longer available since Samsung has stopped the roll-out because of too many bugs.
Whether this message is something I can not confirm. I got the update today. Please tell me if you got the update this way.
Thank you!!

I guess that this does wipe data ?

If you download this firmware, you have to flash this by Odin. If you flashst them all your data will be lost. So before everything save and then flash.

According to a few websites, the official update was stopped because of bugs again. Wait a bit and update the OTA again. Actually, this should work. If it does not go with you Samsung has stopped the update again.
The update is about 1.2 GB, and, especially in China, ran into some bugs initially, and was reportedly pulled before being re-released today. As to when will it hit the non-Exynos versions sold on US carriers, remains to be seen, but the wait shouldn't be long now that the beta testing phase is done and dusted. So ???
Some quick questions please..

2. Will i be able to install this on 935fd without any probs?
can any one help me....I am from italy using s7 edge with model (SM-G935F )......if I flashed BTU Firmware from UK will void warrenty

Flashing using ODIN is the only method that I know of. It's very easy and I didn't even lose my data. Doesn't void warranty too. There are YouTube guides which can help you too.

It's a multi CSC package. Common firmware for both India and UAE.
Guys, I have the exact same problem as described. I too am stuck on firmware ending with AQEB. My CSC code is INS and CSC Version is G950FOXM1AQEB. Real confusion is to determine which firmware to patch. Can I patch Indian firmware or continue with UAE based firmware? Will it void warranty? How to ensure that I don't have to factory reset the device?
