Hi guys !
I've got a Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 (model SM-J530F) with IMEI and Baseband unknown. I also have a full (working) backup of it.
I did mess with my EFS partition, and had no IMEI nor baseband. My phone did not even want to boot (EFS invalid argument something like that) so I flashed TWRP via ODIN, and used my backup to restore my phone. Now it boots, but I have no IMEI and my baseband still says "Unknown". If I flash a stock firmware or just a baseband, ODIN says "success" but the baseband is still unknown. The IMEI is not a problem in itself, only the baseband that I can't restore. So if you have ideas to restore it I'm taking it ^^'
Sh*t, I used ODIN to go back to stock but forgot to disable FRP Lock and OEM unlock, I'm now stuck either in Download Mode but can't do anything from it (except flash stock ROM) but it then goes to stock recovery but I can't do anything in it too, it's only the sick android bot with yellow triangle. Can't even try to restore my Nandroid backup :'(

Yes I can, but once done I only have access to stock recovery, but can't do anything from it, even wipe data and all the stuff. It stays on the yellow triangle, or if pushing buttons shows me the recovery log.
I.ve lost IMEI on J530F ... i think i.ve checked erase EFS in Odin..
tried lots but no succes.
I can't even flash stock rom ... odin finished in 3 seconds with no succes.
please help.

im in need of urgent help..i think i soft bricked my s4 when trying to restore my efs backup.
i tried downgrading my firmware to mf8..and the modem was flashed as well.
When i checked the imei it was null.
so i went on to restore it using method 2 on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392632&page=6
After i put everything into the terminal and it was restored, i rebooted my phone.
Now my phone is stuck at samsung boot logo!!
i tried restoring from my nandroid backup but it didnt work..still stuck at boot logo, i tried restoring the rom to stock, still stuck at boot logo.
Basically no matter what i do, its not booting and its stuck at boot logo.
I can access download mode and cwm recovery. On stock recover i get the error message "failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)"
is there anything i can do at all?
i still have multiple backups of my efs folder..i just dont know how to restore it

I'd suggest doing a flash of the stock firmware via ODIN.

Tried that, still no luck
You can try via kies. Do not connect the phone yet. Pull the battery out and use the information you can see there. Ooen kies Go to upgrade settings and find the one that ask you for your model. Fill the blank, then enter your s/n. A window will show up asking you again. Accept. And kies is suppose to start dowloading the firmware. Make sure to conect the device in dowload mode before it finishs dowloading.
Im not saying it gonna work 100% for you but i had restore a couple samsung devices using this method.
I prefer odin btw.

Tried this, didnt work.
I've had the issue with being stuck on the boot screen before - and it was because I wasn't deleting my cache before flashing the new firmware. Do this from within recovery :good:

Go to the phone setting and see your imei, if is is not what was before then you can do the following.
Getting no signals means you have corrupted imei.
If you previously haved saved any backup of efs flash it. It may solve your problem of no signals.
flash latest modem through odin.you can flash modem from your phone but flash it through pc.
Pc Odin*- open extracted file ".tar.(md5)" as*PHONE-
Phone Custom Recovery*- flash*modem.zip*from SDCard*
There is some problem with the recoveries that when you flash any aosp 4.3 rom you might not get boot animation this is normal.you can try twrp recovery you will get boot animation.Happened same with me.

So, I've been trying to restore EFS on my i9500 after i couldnt make calls anymore and use 3G internet.
just WIFI. (before that, tried to flash new latest modems, which didn't help at all).
So,as i said, tried to restore EFS with method 2 (.img) - and since then my phone isn't booting anymore.
its always stuck in the blinking "SAMSUNG" bootloop.
I've tried to flash a stock russian rom with ODIN - same story. BOOTLOOP.
I've tried to flash via CWM recovery some custom roms like LIDROID etc - still Bootloop.
Kinda bricked...
What can i do now? :\
NOTE:
When i've tried the 2nd method of restoring efs.img file - I've restarted the phone. Since then the phone hasn't booted.

Hi mate ,
Maybe you have a soft brick , follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
Then restore your EFS
I have the s5 900f. I'm not new to custom ROMs and thought I'd give one a go for the s5.
Done system backup with twrp and flashed bliss. The ROMs is but I preferred the stock. Anyway I done a full wipe and then selected the restore. All seems to go well and the restore completes. But when restart the phone it starts to boot then fails. No error message or anything. OK I know I can flash another stock rom but I had the back just how I wanted it with all my settings and customisation.
I read a lot about the partitions being changed with a custom rom which can cause a restore to fail. I will flash a stock ROM then once I get it working I will try a restore again. Do I need to flash the pit file?
OK so previously have had htcs. On those I had to flash the bootloader via fastboot and then flash the ROM from recovery. Is it right that with the s5 the bootloader is bundled and flashed with the custom ROM? So when I reflashed the backup the phone still had the bootloader from the customer ROM? Can someone confirm if that is correct or not? I know how to fix my phone but I also like to learn and under stand what happenened.
Just flash the G900F PIT file along with a stock ROM in ODIN
PIT files should be avoided there are many risks while flashing them, albeit the procedure is as easy as it gets.
I would recommend getting Titanium Backup (i have the pro version so i don't know whether what i'm about to suggest is available in the free version or not) and then using titanium to "Extract from Nandroid backup" in the Main Menu and scrolling down to Special Backup/Restore
Hi Guys, I downloaded the stock rom from sammymobile and flashed it via odin. It also reset my recovery to stock as well but was is easy enough to fix
I then made sure the reactivation lock was turned off and reflashed my recovery back and I then reflashed my original backup recovery and success!
Tp recap if anyone else has this problem....
Download and flash the original stock rom,
Boot the phone and turn off the reactivation lock (you dont need to bother with account setup)
Flash the recovery (must be the same one you used for your backup)
Flash your saved backup
Done
Hopefully this gelps someone who finds themselves in my pickle.
To be honest after coming from HTCs I never appreciated the differences when it comes to rooting, customs roms etc. I now do!
so i was on stock rom and i rooted it and installed twrp 3.0.2-0 and then did a backup of the stock rom and unticked data because i already have a backup of everything that was on the galaxy s4 on my computer and then i installed google play edition untouched rom and i didn't like it so i restored my backup and now when i booted back in it says com.android.phone has stopped working and it keeps appearing, i restarted and i got the same error and somehow i got to write my pin code and when i went in it showed my google play edition wallpaper for some reason and when it kept on flashing the same error then settings has stopped working came up! help me please! Download mode is still working, when i try to boot into recovery it says something in red and then some white text below it and then it goes black and boots into galaxy s4 gt i9505 screen.
Help will be appreciated
Did you perform a full wipe in TWRP before restoring your backup?

nope, i thought it did it by itself because it said wiping... when i hit the restore button
You may have to wipe system and format data before restoring.

but i don't think recovery is working anymore in the left top corner it says something in yellow at the top then red below that and then white below that. it justs boots in to the white samsung galaxy s4 gt i9505 screen and then proceeds to boot to android.

ok thank you so much for the quick help
Good luck. If that doesn't work, I suggest flashing a completely stock ROM from sammobile.com, factory reset, reflash TWRP, and then try a restore.
