my screen is not completely white, only a faint glow is seen and it is appreciated when you are in complete darkness. I tried reinstalling software but it does not work, I always get the same result.

I just got a Qtek 9000 which only shows a white screen. Initially it was completely dead, and only showed a red light when I connected it to a charger. But after reading for a while on the internet, I managed to flash an original rom onto the phone. But the screen is just white when I power it on. The phone seems to be in working order, because after about 30-40 seconds after I've powered it on, I get the "beep sound" (that comes after installing a new rom onto the phone and you're supposed to calibrate the screen etc)
I've tried flashing the rom again, but the screen still stays white.
Has anyone encountered this problem before? Do I need a new screen?

Before you buy a new screen try to READ the Wiki, perhaps you can find a solution there
Good luck
I can't find anything anout it on wikipedia. Any other suggestions?
Well, I think I have narrowed it down to one of three possible things that can be causing the fault. I've disassembled the phone and tried powering it up with only the screen connected and I've disconnected all other ui modules and speakers and mic.
Still the screen stays white, so I think the problem must either be with the screen, the flex cable that runs between the two "pieces" of the phone, or the ui module that connects the screen and the flex cable.
So does anyone know where I can get these, or some of these parts cheap? New or used, or perhapse someone's got a faulty phone they'd like to sell?

hi all
my htc touch elf (P3450) display turned to white with black patch at one place & some lines all of a sudden. it was working all fine. i was charging when a call came. i disconnected recieved the call. after that the screen turned white
Tried restarting but no result.
I can hear the notification of a message coming. but no ringing tone when i tried calling from other number
Please bail me out.
regards
Hardreset could be the solution
not resolved
i cannot see anything on the screen except white screen with black patch.
i tried hard reset with imaginary screen but not resolved
i see no visible screen cracks
how to check if screen is crack?
It may be that the LCD is cracked, thats what it sounds like to me, anyways. Check the connector as well though to make sure it is all connected correctly.
The white with black patch does sound broken to me though (Sorry!)
Stu
Hi Stu, I just received my friend's ELF. His display turn white, but the device still be able to receive phone call. trying to enter bootloader, all I get is white screen with some black-horizontal-thin lines. Tried to hard reset, now it seems the device is on phone setup position so I can not get anything.
Is this LCD issue? Could it be broken? FYI, before this happen, there's already one dead pixel on the screen.
BTW...is it possible that upgrading to cooked ROM can bring LCD broken? may be, unsuitable ROM?
regards,
Bom81
Not sure if flashing a cooked rom would kill the screen - although I would say thats very unlikey.
It does sound like the sceen is broken, theres one way to find out - If you don't mind giving it a go - you could always try your screen quickly in his phone - I'd imagine you're fairly familiar with the internals by now
(I do have a spare screen laying around now - JTAG is no longer able to pick up my bricked elf at all - full battery etc how I was doing it no longer works - guess it is dead for sure now!)

Hahaha..LOL, Today I did want to put my LCD on my friend's elf. but I forgot to bring the opening tools to my office. guess I'll do it tomorrow and see how it goes. I'll let you know after my experiment with this thing.
A little bit Of Topic on this thread, I think so, your device has problem
so even the JTAG method will not be able to connect to the processor. Too bad you're in england, otherwise, the spare screen could be very useful here. LOL
UPDATE
ok..confirm the LCD is broken. I've changed the LCD with mine, and the device is working fine. i guess the dead pixel is the cause of the problem.
Should be able to find one cheap enough on ebay - I do seem to find it cheaper to buy another faulty one (maybe even bricked) as long as the screen is working
Need help on my HTC Touch
Hi Guys,
I really need your help badly. I have an HTC Touch (Elfin), I presume (128/256MB). The problem is i have downloaded the official windows mobile 6.1 rom and extracted the .exe file using Winrar. After which, i copied all the files to the sd card and renamed the .nbh file to ELF0IMG as instructed in the forum.
I put back the sd card and pressed the camera button and the power button at the same time. When it booted up it says reading from SD card and I can see that it is extracting the roms and ext roms. Afterwhich, there was a progress bar and then soon after a while screen turned to blue and then white. Currently now, as I am tying this the screen is still white. Please advise me asap in what to do? Thank you very much.

Ur display screen has been broke as simple as that..
Ok. Here is the thing.
I've droped my phone down, straight on the screen, no problems. 5 minutes later, when my brother was trying to play on it the screen turned white, with no stripes.
After 1 month i even forgot i had an htc, found it in my office drawer, and i thought of reinstalling the rom. But before that i pushed very hard on the screen, i took the battery out, pushed it in the battery space and after i started it worked like a charm.
I gave a NookColor to my oldest son 1 year ago, which was rooted & had CyanogenMod7 on it. The other day he said he was booting it & he pushed some buttons while it booted & when he did the screen turned green. It has never been dropped & he has never had a problem with it before this. You can see the icons, fonts & it still functions properly in all other respects...the screen is just green. The screen is also green during the CyanogenMod startup screen, then it goes black, then is green again during the CyanogenMod boot animation. I can tell that the screen is working normal, as it is lit up & black when it is switching between the boot screens.
I have spent many hours searching the net & cannot find this problem ever happening before. How can I change the background back to normal? Is this a hardware or firmware problem??? I have taken it apart & unplugged & reseated the video connector, just to be sure that that wasn't the issue & I've tried putting different Roms on it, including the new CyanogenMod10 for NookColor & it still has a green screen. I even restored it back to Stock & the screen looks almost normal, but when I played the Introduction video, the video doesn't look like the colors are right or something.
Does anyone know how to fix this or if it is even fixable?
Someone...PLEASE help!
Thanks!
Similar Problem here, except half of screen is green.

I have a similar problem, except only half of my screen is green. The half that is green remains in the same place, regardless of orientation, so I am guessing this is a hardware problem.

My experience is similar, except obviously I have half a screen of odd looking video and half normal. I also tried reverting to the stock rom, but with no success. Fortunately when reading books, i.e. just black text on a white background, the effect is not very noticeable, so the NC is currently back to being an ebook reader.
Still I'd love to know how to fix it. I see powerbookmedic (I have no connection to, or experience of, them) sells used parts for the NC, but is this a display problem, which seems likely, or a logic board problem? Buying both would be more than the whole thing is worth.
the phone got wet at a bath in budapest and the lcd died. it would power on and make sounds like reciving emails. i ordered a new LCD on ebay and when i installed it the screen is very dark. BUT when it first starts and shows the motorola logo it is very bright and normal, but as soon as it goes to load android it becomes dark. I have to be in a very dark room to see anything. chaning the brightness in android does nothing.
That means your phone run correctly the bootloader but when it transfer control of the screen to android os it's device driver doesn't respond properly. Try to flash a new ROM.
flashed new rom and kernel. still doing the same thing

Screen brightness is normal if you access boot menu?
@bronevaya
Did you solve your problem?
I'm facing the exact same issue. I use CM7.2
FIrst of all, sorry for the thread, but I`ve been searching all over night to find a topic with a solution. So I was with using my phone normally (with a GE ROM and a diferent kernel), then suddenly the screen went out. I flashed everything back to stock, the phone didn`t boot up one single time. So I came up with a post in wich a guy said his phone does enter in recovery mode, but he was not able to see the screen. Searching the youtube, looking to a video I was able to perform a Factory wipe and the phone does boot (with sound and the capacitive button`s lights!). However, the screen remained blank, black.
Can someone help me? It has to do with the motherboard? Before going blank, the screen showed some white lines and other coloured strips, with some kind of interference. Any ideas?

could possibly be a dud screen, happened to work colleague, got it fixed under warranty, it just randomly died, had the same symptoms. can hear sound but no picture. they just put a new screen on.
