PLEASE Help!!!! NookColor Screen Is Green - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I gave a NookColor to my oldest son 1 year ago, which was rooted & had CyanogenMod7 on it. The other day he said he was booting it & he pushed some buttons while it booted & when he did the screen turned green. It has never been dropped & he has never had a problem with it before this. You can see the icons, fonts & it still functions properly in all other respects...the screen is just green. The screen is also green during the CyanogenMod startup screen, then it goes black, then is green again during the CyanogenMod boot animation. I can tell that the screen is working normal, as it is lit up & black when it is switching between the boot screens.
I have spent many hours searching the net & cannot find this problem ever happening before. How can I change the background back to normal? Is this a hardware or firmware problem??? I have taken it apart & unplugged & reseated the video connector, just to be sure that that wasn't the issue & I've tried putting different Roms on it, including the new CyanogenMod10 for NookColor & it still has a green screen. I even restored it back to Stock & the screen looks almost normal, but when I played the Introduction video, the video doesn't look like the colors are right or something.
Does anyone know how to fix this or if it is even fixable?
Someone...PLEASE help!
Thanks!

Similar Problem here, except half of screen is green.

I have a similar problem, except only half of my screen is green. The half that is green remains in the same place, regardless of orientation, so I am guessing this is a hardware problem.

My experience is similar, except obviously I have half a screen of odd looking video and half normal. I also tried reverting to the stock rom, but with no success. Fortunately when reading books, i.e. just black text on a white background, the effect is not very noticeable, so the NC is currently back to being an ebook reader.
Still I'd love to know how to fix it. I see powerbookmedic (I have no connection to, or experience of, them) sells used parts for the NC, but is this a display problem, which seems likely, or a logic board problem? Buying both would be more than the whole thing is worth.

G1 screen colors broken

I was in my classes today, and i went to unlock my G1, and as i did, i saw that the colors of the screen were messed up. This meaning that, there were four to five white/grey pixelated bars separating the screen, and when i went to pull up the menu, the screen experiences what seemed to be a great amount of lag, and the white and grey bars seemed ti fill up more of the screen. When i boot up the phone, it is followed by just a black screen where the G1 should be, and when the android logo comes up, from the latest cyan, its all chopped up.
once the phone rebooted i went to slide the screen up to horizontal mode, and it was clear, and perfectly fine, but after i closed it once more, the screen just stayed black. i took out the battery and rebooted, and the same things happened again.
any idea what happened? is the a solution? should i buy a new phone?
like always, any help is appreciated
Sounds like it needs a wipe. You have something running in the background it sounds like

[Q] Vertical line and/or white screen while unlocking Android

I've searched around the forum and the whole Google results. Found nothing about it. Every time I unlock my HD2 (Android on SD - now Hyperdroid CM7 2.1.0 rom but used to happen with every other) I see, for just an istant, a vertical yellow/green line on the screen after which the lockscreen appears. It's pretty annoying but what I'm really concerned about is that it could be a sign of an almost broken screen! I'm trying to find a solution as soon as possible because I know is a software related problem (only with Android, none on WM6.5). Thanks to anyone who'll try to help me! I'll take a picture as soon as I'm able to lend a good cam! In the meanwhile keep in mind these things:
- It only happens while unlocking the screen (vertical line on black background then lockscreen)
- Sometimes the screen becomes completely "whitey" (You can distinguish icons, text etc. but the screen seems to be made of white LCs! Weird!). Can't do anything but reboot. I'll try to take a picture of that too!
I repeat: this doesn't happen with Windows Mobile! So it's not the screen itself.
The first issue I don't know. The second, if you mean by white, everything is in similarity to white/grey/light pink/purple, then it is common. Just reboot.
screen starts glowing from center out when turning on and glows from out to center when turning off, it sounds like you are talking about the screen-on and screen-off animations in cyangenmod settings/display options.
@montecarlo5: Well, I'm not talking about those animations My screen doesn't glow in or out. It simply shows this vertical line then the lockscreen appears. That's all. Oh and I disabled all the animations
@Kailkti: I supposed it was very common. But what I'm concerned about is that it could damage the screen. Can it?
Thanks for your answers!
I have this problem too..... only with Android system, none with WM6.5.
I have attached a pic as well...
I had this problem once.. when I unlock the phone (running on Android, can't remember which ROM) and everything was in white.. I was like.. WTF? I can still see icons, but everything was like real whitish.. some sort of blown up screen or something like that.
Thought my screen has busted, touch still works, so I rebooted and never seen that thing again.. phew!

Very Odd Screen Colourisation Problem

So my screen has a colourisation problem - everything appears yellowish. I originally tought this was a contact issue, though now I'm not so sure.
I can sort of live with it, as I mainly use it to mess around with. Anyway, last night I took the phone back to stock, HSPL'd (2.08 iirc) installed a radio, installed cLK, then Clockworkmod, then Cyanogenmod. When I was messing around in CyanogenMod I noticed that the Google search widget flashed the right colour (White as opposed to yellow. On further inspection, I found that if i went into the browser and viewed the Page Info, the browser window turned white. I flashed back to the latest stock via SD card. I booted up into WinMo6.5 and the colour issue was still there. I went into the browser, pressed the menu button and sure enough, the window in the back ground when to the colours it should be. Anyone have any idea?
PS. I'll post a video this afternoon.
Hi, I had that problem 6 months ago. The screen turned yellowish sometimes but not always. I tried deinstalling & reinstalling stuff but it didn't help. Restarting the phone helped but for a short time. A few weeks later it went worse, blue horizontal lines started to appear now & then. I went back to the shop where I bought it for repair and 2-3 weeks later I had it back. They told me that the main circuit board had to be replaced.
So if you see the same blue lines appear, you know it's a hardware problem.
Hope this helps.

TF101 Screen issue

Hey guys,
I've got a TF101 that has a really odd problem, here's the gist..
- ASUS logo, the screen is 100% fine
- Stock recovery (with green Android and ! in the middle), screen flashes
- Android, screen shows nothing, backlight works fine, everything works fine over HDMI
Now what's really weird is if I launch something like Gallery where the majority of the screen is black, the screen will come on, but text and icons will be low quality, almost as if there are hundreds of dead pixels.
Has anyone seen this before? I've tried reinstalling ASUS' honeycomb and upgrading to ICS again, but that didn't do anything. I wanted to try to get a custom ROM on it to see if that helped, but I can't because CWM results in a blank screen.

Display stays black after turning on and slowly fades to gray?

Hi
I noticed this two times now and sadly I did not make a photo of it. I will try to describe it:
The phone is in standby, I press the power button and the display stays black. Over 10 seconds, the black slowly faded to a sort of gray blur. It somehow looked like a can of white wall paint was spilled over the black display. Another buttonpress turned it off again and then it worked normal again. So the phone was still working in the background, not crashed. This also happened one time while I booted the phone, right at the google logo.
What is this?? Is it a defect, or just software bug??
Thanks!

Flash the stock Nexus 4 image, and if it still happens, get an RMA
I can do that, although I am still on stock and unrooted. Only applied ota 4.2.1 update. But I will give it a try!
edit: found two people on german forum who also witnessed this! so more possibly a software problem?
edit2: Got RMA
