Wifi doesn't work, battery drains fast, phone acting strange overall - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using my LG G2 with Cyanogenmod 13.1 for about 2 years now and my wifi just stopped working one day. When i connect to a wifi hotspot it would take until 1-2 minutes for it to turn off and not work again until i shut off my phone, wait a couple a minutes for wifi to work and turn itself off again. Most of the time this doesn't even happen and it just says "mac adress unavaliable". Besides wifi issues my phone also started to work laggy, freezes and shuts itself off on its own sometimes and my battery drains fast.
I thought the wifi chip could be broken on my phone but then why do i have the other problems? I uninstalled my setup and tried installing Lineage OS 15.1 on my phone but i still have the same issues. Should i try a completely different rom since Lineage OS and Cyanogenmod might be close to each other? If it's a hardware issue i'm having which part could be broken? Is there anyway for me to fix it?

Tried installing this rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-aospextended-rom-v6-0-t3843049
Still have the same issues. I think it's not something software related. Can a broken battery also somehow cause the wifi to not work properly?

I have had the same problem for a couple of weeks. I am at LOS 15.1, I think it's a hardware problem.

I have the same problem. I'm on LOS 15.1. I just updated my os few days ago.

is a problem with the hardware, with the wifi chip. Try this way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_0jzp65eLY

Thanks, but I'm pretty sure it's a software related problem. And my bluetooth is working fine.

The back of the phone is hot and my battery is draining like crazy even when wifi is turned off.
So the issue is not just the WiFi.

I have the same symptoms. After repair according to YouTube it works for a few days and the problem returns. I think it's a problem with the wifi chip

You were right. It works with the fix. The problem is now that the the chip pushes the proximity sensor and the ear speaker
so they do not work.

4.4.2 Starting to become a bit buggy?

I've had the 4.4.2 OTA about 2-3 weeks now, and for the most part its worked fine but as things go on I am noticing it starting to go a bit buggy. I have had issues with my Wifi, like this morning turned the phone on and it would not connect to my wifi, sure it saw it and it had full strenght but it would not connect to it, I went in manually and selected it nope nothing, I forgot network and connected again, nope nothing, restarted the phone nope, after 5 restarts it connected. I've also had issues with wifi connecting when coming out of airplane mode, everything else turns on but I have to mess around with wifi to get it going again.
Also had issues with apps crashing randomly, also had periods of sluggishness for no apparent reasons.
Anyone any ideas?
About the Wifi, try the Wi-Fi fix in this forum, maybe that'll help. For me stock is going absolutely fine. I was on OmniROM, but the updates start becoming a little buggy for me, so I switched back to Stock.

Can't turn wifi on

I wasn't able to turn wifi on for a while, after a day it was solved (wthout doing anything other then trying to turn it on, where it stucked the whole day) but only for an hour or something like that. To solve it forever I installed a new Rom with an older Android version (4.3), but the problem remains the same.
Am I the only one who's experiencing the described problem?
Try out a few stable, well-maintained kernel and/or rom (CM,PA,Slim). If you still have the same problem, then it's caused by hardware failure and you can't do much about it.

Yu Yureka WiFi Issue

I have been using Yu Yureka for almost 9 moths now.
I was not having any other issue till last month.
But since last month, I am facing issues with my WiFi.
Few weeks ago, I was using my phone casually and everything was fine, but suddenly my WiFi got disconnected automatically. I just opened WiFi setting and seen that my router was visible.I just tried to reconnect it and it successfully got connected.
Then for some few days, this same issue was there. It just use to get disconnected oftenly.
But every time I open up my setting and after reconnecting it use to work fine.
Then after a couple of days later it as usually got disconnected and hence I opened settings again. This time, my router was not visible, even though the router was connected with my laptop.
So I rebooted my phone and got back to settings.
This time, WiFi was switched off and it was not turning on.
I tried to reboot my phone.
And after couple of reboot, it was switched on and I reconnect it.
It was annoying and I was fed up of this.
I was running official 5.0.2 cm12.
I choose to flash the latest official cm12.1 5.1.1 ,just because I thought it will help me out with this issue (yes my phone is rooted and have twrp installed).
After formatting my phone completely and flashing cm12.1 on cm12, I was hoping that now the issue will be gone but it was still there.
Conditions had gone worse.
Now it was disconnecting even more frequently.
So I decided to just wipe the system partition completely and install the ROM again.
I again flashed cm12.1
But condition gone worst.
Now at present,
My phone disconnects the WiFi as soon as I stop using the internet (as soon as phone stops receiving data from internet).
And once it disconnects, It doesn't show up any WiFi access point and I got to reboot the phone 3-5 times and there comes a reboot when the phone freezes for 5 seconds and again reboot 2 times by itself without me doing anything to it.
Then it turn on the WiFi automatically and I just have to go to setting to connect it to my router and it got connected.
If anyone have any solution regarding this issue, please help!
Facing the same issue, did you get any solution?
Head to service centre, I think its hardware issue not of software related.

LOS 15.1 zl1 Leeco Pro 3 x720 shutting down randomly

Hello folks!
I have an issue with my phone turning off when not in use for several hours after upgrading to lineage 15.1.
So, the day before yesterday I upgraded to linage 15.1 ( lineage-15.1-20180919-nightly-zl1) coming from lineage 14.1.
I wiped everything, got into error 7 issues, probably because i wiped *everything*.
I then flashed newest TWRP (3.2.3-0 from https://eu.dl.twrp.me/zl1/twrp-3.2.3-0-zl1.img.html).
Still got an TWRP error trying to install LOS 15.1, saying unable to detect vendor partition, so I then flashed twrp-3.2.3-0-20180919-codeworkx-zl1.img from https://sourceforge.net/projects/lineageos-on-leeco/files/twrp/zl1/.
That finally has let me install lineage. 15.1
Everything works just fine now. Exept sometimes my phone will randomly turn off.
So far it happened like three or four times. I couldn't yet see any pattern in it.
The only thing I can say that it seems to happen when I am not currently using my phone.
For example: I charged my phone last night. At some point I woke up, saw that it was fully loaded and unplugged it. Then I went back to sleep. Several hours later I woke up and realized that the device has shut down, at least the screen was black, no LED, not responsive.. To restart it, I needed to long press the power button, I think some several seconds longer then usual. Afterwards the battery showed a 64% which seemed odd, too, since it was fully loaded when I checked it the last time.
As already stated, this happened a couple of times now. One time I heard it vibrate (one time, shortly, like it would if I turned it off) and when I checked it later, it was turned off.
So far I have never seen it turn off when I was actually using it. So I am currently wondering, if it could have something to do with the deep sleep mode?
Anybody else has have had any similar issues and was able to fix it? It wasn't a problem on LOS 14.1, but I am not keen on turning back to it, nor I would like to repeat all that annoying setup process for 15.1.
Any thoughts? Tried to google the issue, but I could find only bits of information on that specific topic, nothing which was deeply discussed..
Maybe the issue is related to this?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/help/pro3-shuts-overnight-t3797807
Some people seem to say it did not happen with LeEco ROM also but I don't know actually, I switched to LineageOS from the first day.
But for me it always happens when the phone is connected to charger.

Issues after Oreo Update

After updating my Moto G5 Plus to Android Oreo 8.1, I am facing many issues with it. Some of them which I noticed so far are-
1. Fingerprint scanner stops working occasionally: It doesn't respond at all sometimes. I had to restart my phone every time to make it work again.
2. Wi-Fi connectivity is not stable: It gets disconnected from Wi-Fi networks very often.
3. Turbo charging is not working: The fast charging is not fast. It takes longer than usual to charge my phone's battery after the update.
4. It's slow: It has become slow after the update. Very slow in responses. Even deleting a text message takes 10 seconds.
Do we have fix for these issues?

Have you tried backing-up your data and performing a factory reset?
Which ROM version did you update to?
Mine is nothing like this, that's strange. But, my Whatsapp has now a bug, I can't take photos inside a chat anymore, the camera just doesn't shoot. I have to open the Cam app normally, take a photo and then attach it to the conversation.

Same. I've noticed that if you switch to front camera and then back to back camera it will work inside the chat.

I did have the WiFi bug...very irritating to say the least...no other problems though...you should back up your data and do a factory reset...might help...didn't help me with the WiFi issue..But. I guess that was due to weak wifi signals...in a strong wifi zone it doesn't disconnect..
Hope it gets fixed.

Is there any patch for Volte on Airtel & Vodafone networks in India for the latest stock Oreo build ?? Volte turns out to be really useful and till now only Reliance Jio supports VOLTE in India.

Been on Oreo for a few months... I have had none of these problems.
I have seen some delays in editing, but nothing like 10 seconds... switching to Swiftkey cleared it up... Google keyboard seemed to be the cause.
Close all the background apo which uses camera feature such as instagram, Snapchat then try

I'm on stock Oreo and I have this weird Wi-Fi issue where it disconnects, even when my device is literally next to the Router. After the update, I have done a Factory reset but this annoying issue still exist. I am ready to flash a custom ROM if it can solve the WiFi issue.

Hey,
My WiFi issue seems to have resolved without having to flash a custom rom..I didn't do anything in particular apart from factory reset a couple of times(incidentally)...flashing a custom rom should definitely help you with the issue..

Let me try resetting my phone a couple of times. I see no other way than to flash a custom ROM if it doesn't get solved. with factory reset. Thanks

This is a well documented issue with the Lineage 15.1 Oreo ROM, at least on my Samsung tablet. Makes me wonder if it's a bug in the Oreo code.
