Okay here's my idea (which probably has a million flaws lol) my goal is to take the code for the idfps (no idea where to get that) and replace it in an op6 rom where there fp code is. Is that possible? How do I even edit a rom like that? If it's possible to do that I'm sure a lot of people would use more custom roms.
You'll need:
• A good PC with good amount of ram/storage and a strong CPU.
• Understanding of Code/Github, Knowing how to sync, compile, push to git etc.
• Linux Build Environment.
• You'll need to create Device Tree, Kernel Tree and Vendor.
• Toolchain.
• Time.
alrighty then!Yet another thread off to a great start.

No. Use op6 roms already made and just have the idfps work on the op6t.

I dont know if anyone cares or not but I believe the more people gets on in this the better and we also get to achieve android faster. I wonder if their are any devs on XDA that wants the android system dump from off the touchpad. Hopefully we can put this to good use. Apprently people from all over are dumping and those few people wasnt the only ones.
I DID NOT DUMP THIS ROM!!! I FOUND IT ON THE NET!! IM ONLY POSTING IT BECAUSE I DONT SEE IT HERE. I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR THIS!

Hope this is real. Would probably be a nice jump-start.
It is real.. sad part it I cant do anything with it.. but I wanna learn how to.
I'm downloading it now, we'll see what I can do with it. I've silently been compiling Dalvik and Chrome OS for the TouchPad and have a decent amount of experience with Assembly, cross-compiling, Java, etc. Let's get this **** done.
I guess there is some stupid bounty and everyone wants to be selfish and aim for the money. So it would be nice to get groups all over without other people yelling and trying to shut others down.
While pretty, this is utterly useless. It seems to have some userspace drivers like Wifi (woot) but it's missing the boot.img which contains the kernel. The hard part about porting Android is compiling the kernel, and this depressingly doesn't have it. All this is is a more helpful version of arm-linux-androideabi- compiled system, which is pretty normal. At least IMHO :\ I'd love to be told otherwise, though.

ok thanks for helping out. I been scanning the net so any new updates ill post here.
Alright, I can't look much more right now, but what I can tell you is that this dump has the boot.img (8.img), the system.img and the user data.img (either 12 or 13.img). It may also have a modem (?) of some sort, I've never seen the files before but looking at them, they appear to be the modem to the Evo 3D. That makes this a little...... odd?
i think the evo 3d and sensaton have the same processor as the touchpad wonder if that have something to do with what you seeing

Thank you for posting this here, OP.
Well, I work 9-5 at a computer company so I do have to get some work done I have a good amount of reverse engineering history, programming, and hacking around history, so this is pretty fun for me.
Some random observations:
This IS from Qualcomm, there are a lot of files that mention it and even two apk's that are by them.
HP obviously had a hand in this because the device is called Topaz in the build.prop file, which was HP's codename for it.
I'll look more into it now

We need to try get it in a format for webos doctor. Think we need to use that tool to flash
I know I am ahead of myself, but once we are able to dish out root and Roms on this phone, would it be really difficult to setup a dual boot environment, like they do with the nexus 6? This would be an awesome thing to have come up later down the road.
It would be great because I could be running stock whenever I wanted to use moto assist and just switch over to AOKP when I want to customize the junk out of it. Haha
You would have to ask Tassadar. He does amazing work. I don't think it will come to the Pure, but you never know!
Well, since this is a completely unlocked phone, can't you just take the source code from the nexus 6's and change the hardware portion of that code? Or am I just really showing my ignorance right now? Haha

No, much of mulitirom is device specific. In addition, multirom is not currently 64bit compatible. The kexec-tools that multirom uses would need a lot of work to be compatible with an arm64 device.

Pretty much what Hashbang said. I don't know the mechanics behind it but I know that it is device specific. That's why it is only supported for a few devices. Maybe Tassadar will buy the Pure or will be willing to help us. We shall see!

There are several unofficial builds out there, but no one makes the builds every day, or at least shares them. The two CM devs don't really share their builds everyday, so it is nice to have several options where the ROM is updated daily. Furthermore, if one build has an issue, it is possible to use another build in order to check weither the ROM is bugged or is the builder the culprit (bad repo sync, etc...).

Yup they don't, because they wanna wait till it's integrated into CM's Jenkins, auto/official builds. It takes too long to do by their own(It can take like an hour depending on the hardware)

Nah I made a little guide on how to build, and my build only take 10-15mins depending of the changes. The first build took around 2-3hours, but when you enable CCACHE, you reduce it a lot since it uses stuff from the last build.
For the HW, I'm using a VMWare workstation (virtual machine) with Ubuntu 16.XX, OS and software on SSD, VM on HHD (1Gb 7200rpm), i5 6500, 8Gb of RAM (5 given to VM, but seems to use more). For the repo sync, got a 30Mb/s wire (download speed is at 3Mb/s). So as you can see, it's not really a big big computer, I'm not even using my SSD for the building ^^

Yet it is a pain to do builds everyday on the same day. If you forget a day, people will complain and flame the hell out of you.(that's the XDA forums after all) This guy is really brave.
It's also hard to support people running 100's of different builds(Remember; CM doesn't even support their own official nightlies on their forums, you'll get your topic locked and/or downright ignored).

I wont agree. If you see AOSPA are the first custom rom which adds not only new features but improves core stuff as well. The camera and new post processing algorithm for example is better than OOS which is a huge step also the color engine though in its infancy is very good and is building on top of OOS theme engine. They have also fixed the voice call drain using custom firmware. So there are things they have done right and improved stuff. So I guess AOSPA has started right. If they can just continue making solid improvements its would be a fantastic idea.

Dunno about camera we need more proof and test...

Improved camera quality is a big boast. I don't think they'd do it if they couldn't back it up. It's been sitting on my internal storage waiting to be flashed. I think I'm going to back up tonight and flash my first custom rom tomorrow. That's really and truly a testament to OxygenOS as well as Paranoid Android.
Is it true that Android O would have native substratum theme enabled, thereby negating the need for rooting the phone? Can someone confirm?

Yes let's hope so. My intentions was to know whether this would be available on stock rom's or just custom rom's. I think Oxygen OS is above par as compared to the best smartphones out there when it comes to stock rom so this would be a stellar addition as and when it happens, or lets say if it happens.

Things will get released when they are ready. Rushing the devs will just increase the chance that they will abandon everything.

so if I understand correctly
it can come out tomorrow
or never go out that's it ??
suddenly you have to wait for news
and for people who are not at all patient maybe they can try to do it themselves
what if i try to make a custom rom myself
what is the risk of my phone if i do something wrong?

At least every now and then, they let us know they're still working on it.

Some devs are working on it. I don't know any details, except it would take some time. The best thing normal users like us can do is be patient.

What's the problem with that then? They don't work for you or me, they don't have any responsibility to develop the rom. They don't ask you to wait for the news, they don't ask you to risk damaging your phone. You have to take responsibility for your decisions, don't you?
At least every now and then, they let us know they're still working on it. Isn't that enough for you?

no you didn't understand I know that developing it takes time I am the developer of the craftdium.ml software if you know and I know very well that it takes time I wanted to know if I am making the custom rom my phone risks what?
Personally, I don't like MIUI, nor MIUI based Roms: eu, ROS, mix, etc.
I think it's worth to wait a while, even one month, for install a decent AOSP based ROM on this brilliant hardware. I made that on my Mi Max 3 and I am very happy now with the phone.
