Hi
I used this method to install LOS 15.1 on my H918. But now i have to restore the stock os on it.
The normal way would be to restore download mode from recovery/twrp and use LGUP to flash a kdz.
The Problem is, that i don’t have twrp on the recovery partition. Using the above guide you install twrp to the laf and flash twrp to recovery from there. But flashing the recovery never worked so i used the laf/twrp to flash LOS.
I have several ideas, but i’m unsure which one would work:
Use the stock recovery, as it’s still on the recovery partition
Reflash the laf/downloadmode from the laf/twrp itself
Reflash downloadmode via adb shell
Btw: The phone is on ARB1

If you used laf exploit then twrp is on the laf partition (download mode) boot into it and twrp should load, from within, flash twrp as an image and point it to recovery. To restore download mode go to the lafexploit thread there's a zip to restore the laf partition

Like i said, that is exactly my problem. Flashing twrp to recovery did not work. It will flash without error, but then boot the old recovery. That’s why i’m asking what other options i have.

Guys... when i tried to flash oos 3.0 on my op2 through twrp, i first wiped the data to install new rom, then install oos 3.0, it failed. I then flashed the recovery i downloaded from the thread, then restart the recovery
I cant boot into the recovery.
System can't boot
Is it called "brick"?
So i tried to flash stock recovery in pc by command, but it says "remote: device is locked. cannot flash images". any solution to this problem?
I can boot into fastboot mode
You need to run the phone in Qualcomm mode on a PC and run the recovery tool to fix you bootloader.
I did the same and it was a royal ball ache trying to find out how to fix it
Don't do what rosswaa said
Why not?
What you should do is boot your phone into fastboot mode, connect it to your pc. Flash this modified TWRP recovery img to your phone https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995297945. After that you have to flash this modified SuperSU (through the new recovery) https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995297946.
The normal recovery doesn't work in OOS 3.0 (just like in HOS) and it's the SuperSU that gives you the soft brick. A dirty flash of the modified SuperSU should fix it.
I also had your problem and I did what rosswaa said which shouldn't be necessary (I lost all my data and backups).
I didn't lose anything, but I tried doing what you said and my bootloader was screwed so wouldn't take a flashed recovery or anything (yes the modified one)
Wish I hadnt been so excited and just flashed but all sorted now
Hmm okay, if it doesn't work with flashing the new recovery img then do what rosswaa said and after that follow this post https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/installation-instructions-faqs-oxygenos-3-0-0.439108/
Obviously try what green says first, if it works then happy days
first i am really glad that someone give some advices on me. But since i am a noob, how can i flash twrp in fastboot mode? using command? "fastboot flash recovery xxx.img"? thx

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to take a look at the following thread and post your question within it that's specific to your device.

Good Luck!

Boot do not flash
Please do Not try installing TWRP as it is unsupported for now. Simply have to boot the TWRP.
Fastboot boot TWRP.img
I hope this changes but for now we need our pc.

New to device:
do that mean.
we must not!
install the version 3.2.3.0
from the official TWRP homepage ??
No, no.. Reboot to bootloader and use this command. fastboot boot TWRP.img
We need a pc for this.
Our development still working on this. For now do not flash anything to the boot partition.
This device uses the a-b slots and does not have a recovery partition as before, the recovery is now part of the boot.
Use
fastboot boot twtp_every_xxx.img
You can install TWRP on this device and it's very simple!
First boot TWRP via fastboot boot twrp.img and then flash the TWRP-Installer.zip in TWRP. This overwrites the stock recovery which is within the boot.img now for A/B devices. After that you have to flash the magisk.zip and it's done!
Just use Google to find twrp-installer.zip/evert

This installer has been around awhile and there is a reason the official twrps that are far newer cannot be installed yet. While it may seem like it works on the surface, this causes errors in the kernel itself if memory serves me right. This method is not advised! Hopefully, we are on the verge of a breakthrough on a proper official version that can install.
Dear all,
after trying to install TWRP (from the official homepage), the bootloader logs show the following message on my phone (moto g6 plus):
AP fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)
No bootable A/B slot
Failed to boot Linux, falling back to fastboot
Fastboot reason: Fall-trough from recovery boot mode
Any recommendations, what I can do/try now?
With volumen keys search for a green letters "Start" and flash stock rom or flash boot.img from stock.
Kepp in mind that Official TWRP can't be installed only BOOTED so don't try it again there's a flashable TWRP installer here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g6-plus/how-to/twrp-installer-zip-evert-t3875657
KEEP IN MIND THAT WE CAN FLASH THE INSTALLER BUT ISN'T RECOMMENDED!
Sent from my G6 Plus using XDA Labs
DON'T DO WHAT YOU WANT when a script is given from the creator IT IS NO A PROBLEM.
I know muy words are so really bad but is the truth. Reflash all the stock system and after it BOOT twrp is you need but dont flash cause we don't have a recovery partition, so, we can't use twrp like un older moto phones
Attempted to update from the latest stable 10.3.12 to 11 by flashing the full OTA zip in TWRP.
Install failed and phone locked up.
Attempting to boot to recovery or system results in Qualcomm Crashdump Mode.
I can get to Fastboot, but I'm not sure if I should try flashing twrp.img or pull boot.img from the OTA or what.
Anyone have any suggestions?

An attempt to flash TWRP and reflashing should go.

I did not have time to wait so before bed I just reset everything.
I ended up using the MSM tool located here:
The Complete Guide to Unbrick OnePlus 6/6T from a Hard-Brick using MSMDownload Tool
Unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP & Magisk, installed A11 zip, everything is working again now.
Good luck!

Flash temporary recovery first ( lineage recovery ) then from fastboot.. boot into recovery.
You will see lineage recovery.
Select apply update - > update from adb ....
Then "adb sideload <twrp image>.img...
(probably it ask to verify choose yes)
Go back select advanced restart ( not sure the right word ) -> reboot to recovery.
Then you will have twrp installed.
If you only want to root why not flash magiskpatched image there no need TWRP just to root.

Hm but how would I install lineage recovery? Flashing recovery through fastboot doesn't work on the new devices anymore right?
I also tried booting lineage recovery without flashing but that also didn't work (although it didn't get stuck on crashdump but booted into the regular OS instead).
I did notice that it seems to be related to OOS 11 firmware. On 10 booting into TWRP works just fine and as soon as I upgrade to 11 it stops working (maybe this means it's fixable?). What I used as a workaround for now is to have 10 firmware in one slot, upgrade other slot to 11 and flash TWRP to both slots from the 10 slot. Seems to work so far but is not ideal IMO. I'm not a developer sadly but maybe someone smarter than me will come up with a solution.
What do you mean by "new device"?? New OOS version right??
I use this method all the time with oos 11.x.x.x.x to install TWRP so i can install Custom ROM later.
no need to go to oos 10 you can flash it from newest oos11.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First boot into fastboot mode.
to install lineage recovery
fastboot flash boot <lineage recovery image>.img
download from here https://download.lineageos.org/fajita
menualy select and boot to recovery. It will boot to lineage recovery.
lmao it appear in two posts. deleted 1.
I tried "fastboot boot" almost all of KizuYuna's .imgs, tried fastboot boot the lineagerecovery.img. All I get is the fastboot logo and the phone just restarts into OOS... TWRP is same.
About to MSM downgrade to OOS 10 to get recovery working like I did before. Thought it would be better to flash a rom from OOS 11 to get better firmware compatibility but just wont work.
Simply go back to OS 10.3.5 using the MSM Download Tool. Upgrade via OTA to 11..1.1.1, fastboot flash boot magisk_patched-23000_11.1.1.1 from XDA 235Sanders15 post. (you are now rooted with Magisk. Via Magisk install TWRP-Installer-3.5.2_9-0 you are now unrooted but have TWRP installed. Using TWRP flash Magisk v23.0.You are now rooted on OS 11.1.1.1 with TWRP installed. Do not change the Kernel it will cause a Bootloop.

So you are saying MSM to 10 and then flash official 11.1.1.1 or fastboot flash boot magisk_patched-23000_11.1.1.1 (this is a full 11.1.11.1 OS flash? No need to use twrp from 10?)
Thanks
So I just went thru an Android 10 to 11.1.1.1 upgrade, and it was a bit frustrating. So I'll throw out what I learned along the way.
Note, I have a T-Mobile Variant, so sometimes you need different files/steps for T-Mo.
I flashed the full OTA via Settings > Update > Local Upgrade, which ended up boot-looping.
Via Fastboot, I did fastboot flash boot magisk_patched-23000_11.1.1.1.img; followed by fastboot reboot;
This was still boot-looping, so I shutdown the phone, and booted into recovery, which was now PBRP.
via PBRP, I flashed the full OTA again from my SDCard; then installed PBRP zip;
Reboot to System and got a Successful Boot. Yey.
Reboot to Recovery; Backup Boot.
Reboot to System
Install Magisk App; within Magisk > Install > select my Boot Backup to Patch (per Magisk instructions); I used a file manager to copy to my PC from my phone
Reboot to Fastboot; fastboot flash boot magisk_patched-23000_rJoA.img (the file Magisk created)
Reboot to System; Success!
I guess my morale of the story is, get a clean boot working, go from there. Patch your own boot, don't rely on someone else's.

So you had to go through all the trouble because you had a bootloop issue when OTA updating to 11? I already got to 11 but am trying to fastboot boot a recovery because I want to flash a custom ROM... When I fastboot boot TWRP.img or LOS Recovery .img it just shows fastboot logo and restarts the phone with no recovery shown..
