Hello,
I am a new G2 owner (moved up after my trusty Nokia N97 was pickpocketed and boy was I living in the past there with Symbian).
So far. I've installed CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0 BETA 5, flashed the Beta 7 Kernel and ran the Supercharger v6 script and am very happy with the results, I just have some hopefully, very easy to answer n00bish questions that I think relate to this mod specifically, so excuse me if the questions seem silly...
1. How do I turn off the cyonogen boot animation, I cant for the life of me find the option in settings!
2. Is there any way to stop my phone vibrating when unlocking from sleep. Again, this may be obvious to all, but I reallly cant find this particular option, after a few days tinkering with the phone.
3. Customising the keyboard, I've seen threads with specific custom keyboards, but is there anyway I can customize my keyboard with this mod to use the custom buttons on my physical keyboard (I'd love to be able to make one of these buttons skip to the next song for example on the default music player....
Thanks
Richard.

I'm not experienced in cyanogen but if there is no option to disable boot animation, you can flash a stock one
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Take a look in performance options for boot animation. Not running cm9 currently so not entirely sure.
Sent from my Desire Z using xda premium
Thats not questions of begginer
Boot animation you can change with some zip package, you can find them somwhere here or you can install another rom which provides changing boot screen. I believe aokp has this. There are no options for disabling vibrate by unlocking Im affraid. And I leave the last question without answer, because I dont know anything about this stuff.
Sent from potato
havent used this rom yet so im not sure if there specific settings for any of these
1: if there is no option you can flash a different one (4ext recovery has an easy way) there are many .zips that can be found all over xda you can flash. or you can get romtoolbox from the market (paid and free) here you can also easily change it along with many things in your rom
2. again havent used this rom so your question may be answered better by the developer, many other roms dont do this so if you get to annoyed there are many other choices
3. just like #2 there are ways but if its not listed as an option under settings than it may be a bit too difficult - may need to try out other roms that have this as a built in function
4. dont know why im bothering to answer this for i obviously dont have answers for you
You really shouldn't be using a non-stable aftermarket rom. Move over to Cyanogen 7.1 Stable if you value your sanity. Beta class roms are not usable as daily drivers and you will encounter gamebreaking bugs.
As to address your specific questions:
1: You cannot disable boot animations directly. You can replace the file, located in system>media>bootanimation.zip or delete it completely. Note: this location is relevant for Gingerbread roms, I do not know the location in ICS based roms.
2: I haven't ever encountered this design decision but it sounds dumber than a cat jumping into molasses. I swear to god some people should not be coding for a hobby.
3: Remapping keyboard keys to do the custom functions that you're requesting is not possible without detailed technical knowledge of the code interface. Do not attempt it. Learn to live with holding down the volume rocker to switch songs.
Flashed back to andromadus testing and the feature to disable boot animation is indeed in setting>performance. It may not be there in cm9 beta. You can always jump ship to either andro build. They are both very good.

Thanks for all the replies guys!
I perhaps did jump in at the deep end with a beta mod but other than my minor issues I've been very happy with what seems a very stable beta...
I will indeed look up some custom boot animations but its a shame about the unlock/vibrate issue (my boss sits close to me so its not ideal for me when I'm trying to be discreet!)
With regards to wanting a keyboard button to 'skip to next track'; the main reason i wanted it was for when i have the phone plugged into an fm transmitter while driving....having a button to press (like the dpad on the nokia n97) means i can change songs easily without looking....unless i find a better solution, Real Player Beta has a rather large and clear lock screen which isn't so bad, I'm getting better at skipping songs using touch screen without looking (or crashing).
Thanks again, loving this phone, largely to do with all the advice I'm reading here.
Hi all, I bought an m3 a couple of weeks ago and the interface for all my apps show up as they would on a phone display rather than on a tablet.
My question is, if I root the device and just put straight android on, would I be able to specify that this is a tablet device rather than a phone? Or even, are there 2 versions available to install? Or is all this built into the hardware?
I know you can shrink the size of text and the general look within settings but that's not the issue. it's how the apps function .e.g. on some apps if I click on a link it takes me to another page rather than just popping up on a side bar. I had a Samsung previously, identical screen size and I can see the difference.
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks
Dig around on this forum, there are a few threads. If you are rooted there are ways to change the DPI which will trigger the apps to correctly display tablet mode. Less severe than loading a ROM.
Here is one of them:

Hi!
Unlikely it is a known issue. Nothing you can do except changing the dpi to 325. If you do that all apps run in tablet mode but if you restart the tab it goes back over 400 dpi so it's not a perfect solution.
Thanks for the replies I've managed to root it and I got a really terrible rom (the only one I could find in the forums)
A couple more questions:
1. the density settings don't stay even if you root - it there any way to keep them?
2. are there any better ROMs than this?
Thanks
Greg
Ok!
So here's the latest build from Huawei with Android 7.0.
I accept no liability as it's clearly a pre-release with glitches etc but I've not found any issues yet

I used the Huawei Firmware Finder Team Tool to find it.

(I have a few questions for any of you who own a LG G6 or other LG phone running their version of Android 7.0 so expand the description if you want to see those questions)
I found a demo LG G6, and decided to try it out, to find out that...
LG actually uses the Google emoji from stock Android!!! Yes!!!!!
Unlike that Sam-suck Galaxy S8 that uses their crappy and hard to read emoji that I absolutely hate.
I also found that LG's version of Android also has custom font support. Hopefully it's actually using FlipFont, because if that's the case, I could load my custom Comic Neue font package that I have on my Galaxy Tab A and use that.
(Does LG's Android use FlipFont or another font system where I can easily create a custom font package to use there?)
LG's Android also has custom theme support, so hopefully there's a theme that can make it look like stock Android 7.0, but sadly, the demo G6 I tried wasn't connected to WiFi. I already know LG's custom launcher has 2 versions, one with an app drawer and one without.
(Is there a theme for LG phones that can make it look like stock Android?)
Another thing I didn't notice in reviews on YouTube is that the power button is combined with the fingerprint sensor. Nice!!
Plus, LG's Android does have user changeable DPI settings. Hopefully that setting doesn't only affect LG apps.
One thing I forgot to check is if LG's Android has a blue light filter, which CyanogenMod does have.
(Does LG's version of Android have some kind of blue light filter or "night mode"?)
Even then, I'm probably not gonna upgrade my phone this year, because I had already gone through so much trouble trying to sign back in to all my apps after transferring to the Galaxy Tab A WiFi+cellular, unless there is an Android app (that does not require root) that can actually preserve app data so I would be able to continue right where I left off after switching to a new phone.
With that, I am considering getting a G6 (in silver or black, 64GB) (either that, or I might wait for either the G7 or whatever the next OnePlus will be called) but want to ask some questions, mainly pertaining to the software experience, which is my main deciding factor when it comes to buying an Android device.
Anyway, just open the spoiler thing above if you don't understand why I'm asking the following questions.

1: No idea
2: kind of, but apparently the text color in the settings is tied to to the one in the notification shade so you tend to get both of them either with a dark or a light color. Check the themes forum.

I tried, but I couldn't find it.
Closest I found was a "Pixel" theme, but I think I might be able to combine that with Nova Launcher + one of those stock Android icon packs for 3rd party launchers + Google Gboard + a bunch of stock Android apps that Google has uploaded to the Play Store, to get as close to stock Android as possible, or I might wait for LineageOS or another custom rom with the stock Android UI to be released for the G6.
(I do like using Nova Launcher Prime because one of the things it allows me to do is to hide a number of the Samsung apps and bloatware on my Galaxy Tab A, plus I can hide the app drawer behind a double tap gesture)

I am currently building my oZoP rom/mod that I working on being universally compatible for any deodexed v20 rom!
The fullscreen dialer woth custom solid or gradient comtrols as well as choose your own BG from gallery is just 1 of 150+ mods that will be available.
Still have work to do, but I'm 4 months into it so an inital release should hopefully be ready soon...

Im definitely excited for that! I believe the OP is referring to the picture of the contact that appears when a call is made or incoming. Right now I believe its a very tiny circle with the contact pic. I believe on my Note 3 back in the kit kat days it was full screen. Im not sure if that was just a feature of the ROM I used the whole time or if the difference now is just the OS. Either way, what is needed to change that?
After receiving several pm's it seems there is a good amount of interest in this and since I'm not sure exactly how long it will be until I have my full oZoP build ready, I've decided to created a stand alone mod for my InCallUI Dialer mods!
The mod includes the following:
*Toggle for native call recording
*Toggle to switch Caller ID BG from the Stock small circle to the Large full width bg
*Toggle for custom BG with pick image from Gallery, solid or gradient any colors
*Color pickers for InCall Name and details, Dialpad Digits and text
These are all changable on-the-fly with the control app I am building specifically for this mod.
There will probably be a few more things added and it should work for any custom built stock based rom(more specifics as testers report back)
Thanks you and hope you enjoy it.
Look for the new thread soon...

I've had this problem before and the only solution I could find was to reboot. Haven't been able to find out exactly what the cause is but it only happened to me twice and hasn't done it in quite awhile now.
I'm told LG says it's a feature

Ok guys, so I am putting some final touches on this mod.
It is a stand alone mod pulled from my full oZoP mod.
As of right now for it to run on your current ROM you will need to ask your dev couple of things.
The first is "signature verification check" needs to be disabled. I am going to upload the file with hope I can get some feedback for all variant compatible.
Next need to know if the are using Rom Control and which version. There will be if the package name is "com.wubydax.romcontrol.v2". If there is a RC app in your apps you can verify the version by navigating to the data/data folder on your phone and search to make sure there IS NOT the package name listed above. This would cause confliction with your current mods and you will have to wait for the full release of my oZoP mod.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FEEDBACK TEST -
*Download the attachment
*navigate to your phones system/framework folder and copy to a safe place "core-oj.jar".
*flash the zip in recovery and reboot
*report back here with details;
*boot or no boot (if no boot, boot to recovery and take the copied file and replace in framework)
If you boot, your good. Sig check is disabled and you're tha much closer to using the mod
*what model you have and what rom you are running
*** this file is NOT INTENDED for odexed system!!!***
So if you guys want this mod I need to see interest and MUST get feedback!
If there is neither, well then I guess the wait for oZoP will continue.. No skin off my back... I'm already running the mod and enjoying the custom bg's, colorable text and full sized caller id.
Confirmed Compatible with sig disabled zip and InCallUI mods:
Variant Device
H918 - WETA Rom
H918 - MEGA Rom
VZ995 - WETA Rom
STILL LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK....

Hi everyone. The ideal rom does not exist and this situation makes XDA so great for all of us. I think will be usefull to share here different OREO experiences. It is hard to compare two roms - or more - this is not my purpose. Everyone has his own reasons and objectives choosing one or another. Different problems in OREO could find here different answers. So sharing experience will be good for all.
So, to start. I have G variant. 2 Sims - one for calls - permanent - and other for data/internet - that I switch ON wheather I need - otherwise is disabled. SD card is 100...G formatted as exFAT - obvious for passing the 4G transfer limit. So far, the only oreo rom that works in these conditions [on my knowledge] is NFound's RR Oreo 20180220. All ohthers I tried fails one condition or another. I need to be able to switch on/off sims and wold not format my card back to fat32.
What I miss - stock camera [slowmotion] and full functionality of AKM DAC.
Please feel free to share here your oreo experience - what U have and what you dont so far. Thank you all.
This does not belong in development section. Could you delete/move it or can a mod move it to appropriate one?
Yes please move this interesting topic to 'Guides, News and Discussing'

Yes! One very important comment, thank you.
Black dialer
OK, I continue to share my experience in OREO, till others will dare to do as well. I dislyke the bright interface od the dialer - in general, considering eye impact and battery drain, I tried to set everything as close to dark, and yes, second sim for data only enabled when I need internet outside wifi range.
So I searched for dark interface in dialer and I found from another phone "GoogleDialer_Mod_v4_ambient.zip" and "GoogleDialer_Mod_v4_ambient.apk".
In twrp - installed the zip and at reboot the apk - then in settings default dialer. So I have the Black dialer working fine....(except sound bugs in RR Oreo by Nfound)
And yes, 128G sd card exFAT formatted as I mentioned before.

Thank you for your answer. First, as I mentioned before, I'm on the ONLY OREO rom - in my experience at least - that recognizes my 128G exFAT formatted AND has the option to enable/disable sims one by one. That is RR-O-v6.0.0-20180220.
For a custom black dialer, solution I found after diggin' some was easy - 1 - install a zip in twrp and a app afterwards, and voila! Black dialer working.
I tried Substratum..."alwaysON"...not too happy becouse if I tried to leave it and return to home launcher only solution was to press power - I wanted a software action not a hardware one. Maybe I do not now how to use it. Also, I was looking for threads about Substratum on our Axon7, and....I could not found any significant.
As long as you seem to know more about this matter, please, for the ones that do not know, shere here your experience and knowledge regarding Substratum - install and use - in Axon7. Thank you!

Lol no. Using Substratum in the Axon 7 is the same as using it anywhere else - install theme, then go to its settings, choose required app versions/options, build and enable. There's nothing weird with it, and the worst bug you can get is maybe some text not being readable.
There's no need for an Axon 7 thread about Substratum because it is universal
And the AOD module is actually a simple thingy that just enables a hidden Android feature, which is buggy by itself
Custom black dialer, yes, but then you may want black xda, black youtube (in this case i use iYTBP but you can just theme official youtube), black UI... And you're surely not going to swap the apps one by one.
Tkank you for your answer. Appologise for my lack of knowledge - but this is why I'm here - to know more, to experience and to share .
Going back to the important things in an OREO rom, I would like you all to consider: (obviuos my personal subjective choice)
- phone functionality with 2 sims, option for enable/disable one or another;
- recognition of exFAT SD;
- camera - close to stock options, of course slow motion included;
- gps 100% functionality.
I wait for your sollutions/experiences. Thank you.
And of course, if you have any other interesting subjects about oreo - plese join. Thank you.

Do you have any idea why it drops a lot of frames with no modifications to the kernel? I have to use Conservative to fix the frame drops or it stutters.
Otherwise the ROM is great
RECAP of considerations for best ROM
Roms develop, some problems still remain. This is why I wanted to share information with others.
So, my...subjective choices are:
- full working phone - no sound bugs
- full working phone - available settings to enable/disable one sim or another
- ExFat external SD card available/recognised
- full option camera (slowmo...)
- full availability of DAC.
Well - some options are to be found in some roms, untill now I see no oreo based to fullfill all these - I say - normal demands.
If anybody has some other opinion, please say it here. Thank you all. Best oreo rom...still in the devs kitcheen...
Hi there! Thanks for your post, I'm currently try to switch to an Oreo based rom to try the new features. I'll give AEX a try and we'll see how it goes.
