Need help —What is the black layer under the battery? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi all,
I was trying to replace the s7 edge battery, during the process of removing the battery. I scratched the black layer (coding) within the battery slot. Now the phone is showing a dark spot/bleeding on the screen. Does anyone know what is the term of this "black coding" and is it repairable?
thank you.

I doubt if that is repairable. You may as well throw the screen away and buy a new one.

To me looks like it's just a heat dissipation pad. Copper on the bottom and a matt finish in top
Going by your method of brute force which shows in the pad, the screen on the underside is now broken
The screen components are underneath the battery tray and it's very thin the battery tray and it's not like you have gorilla Glass on the underside of the battery tray
That would be the issue

Removed glass and now screen won't turn on

Hi all,
Just tried replacing the glass screen on my S4 because it was cracked. Heated up the screen and used a thin wire to separate the digitizer from the glass.
The glass came away ok but unfortunately a long rectangular copper strip which usually sits just above the screen came away with the glass. Now the screen won't turn on.
The screen itself I assume is undamaged, but this copper strip must provide power or ground to the screen. I've tried holding the copper strip in place but the screen still won't come on.
Can anyone with some expertise on the matter please shed some light on how fixable this is? Would be a shame to have to replace the whole screen.
Thanks in advance for your help
may be the touch panel is destroyed!! who did fix it? was it a pro?!

Unfortunately you tore the digitizer flex cable so your going to have to purchase a whole new top half full digitizer glass and frame (easiest) for your phone. You have to be very careful not to tear off this piece during removal. Sorry for the bad news

Screen adhesive

Hi guys,
Can anyone point me to a good adhesive to be used on an S5 G900F? Since it's water resistant, are they still using the usual adhesive sticker on the edges or are they using some kind of liquid sealant ? I had my screen replaced and right after I got it back I put it under the water and it held pretty well. Unfortunately after a couple of weeks I noticed the top part of the screen is starting to loose a bit and occasionally I have to press the screen a little bit. I'm not putting it under water until I fix it.
What can I but to replace the existing adhesive ?
Thanks.

damaged front glass / screen

Damaged my front glass display. No bleeds or dead pixels and digitiser fully responsive.
Can the glass be replaced alone?
Been to several local repairers and they saying glass display and digitiser comes as one unit and needs to replace all which comes to about 50% cost of phone. (Would written off if it was a car).
Seen some online vids using dry ice to remove the glass then reglue a new one followed by UV light to fix glue. (Sounds like dental work).
Any experiance on this?

This was possible on earlier phones even if they have digitizer and glass together, but you would need special equipment to do this, and it was a dangerous process where the chance of damaging the whole display was huge... On the Edge phone I do not see how it would be possible, because on flat screens you needed to take a wire and put it between the glass/digitizer and be careful by removing. After that you have to glue it again with UV glue.
The special point here is that with the edge screen the chance of breaking it totally is for sure more than 90%. Also as I have heard it is not even possible to remove the display on the s7 Edge without braking it. So if you need to replace just the home button, it leads also to screen replacement.

above link is proof of concept... it can be done... also several professionals in the US offer this service. I was just a bit bamboozled why its not being offered by anyone locally.

Adhesive residue all over the screen of my S8

Hello,
I have put a Matte screen guard over my s8. I noticed that the screen is pixelated after putting, just like the glue residue all over the screen. Also, I see a straight line going from left to right in the top. The salesman said me that those marks will be removed in 2 days with charging and heating of phone.
Could somebody confirm me if charging (heating) my phone will really make those glue like marks go away of my screen ?
Thanks.
Use little spirit on the cloth to make it damp. Rub gently on your screen where there is glue marks. Take care and it should work.
Hello,
Do you mean that I should take out the screen guard and then rub the spirit ? Is there any other way to do this without removing the guard ?
Thanks

Phone screen repair glue recommendation

Hey guys,
I've noticed the black (plastic/glue?) part at the edge of my screen has fallen off right at the left upper corner. Now I can see light sipping between the screen and the edge of the phone. Do you guys have any recommendation for repair glue so I could seal that part to prevent any water damage? Thanks.

No it's not the speaker strip even that part is also coming off :silly:
Do it fast, I got the same Problem and just after I noticed I got a whole lot of dust between my camera and glas.
Luckily Essential shipped me a new phone...

Yeah, that little strip was a bad design.
The LOCA glue normally used for mobile phone screen probably a bit too thin & runny to fill an open hole, so I'd be looking at a ceramic chip repair kit (if you can get suitable colour) or maybe a clear epoxy (though not sure how well it'll stick to ceramic). I don't think anyone has a proven solution so far.

From my experience replacing the display on this phone, the thin frame/bezel where the glass fits is actually not ceramic. It feels like some sort of a hard plastic that you can actually scrape and shave a thin layer off with a sharp blade (i discovered that while cleaning out the old adhesive). I tried scraping a semi-exposed edge of the back ceramic plate with a blade - very different feeling. My phone also has a tiny damage to this front bezel in the corner which is a "nick", unlike a chip or a crack you would expect in a ceramic material.
so do you guys have any advice for the type of glue that could be used to fill up the gap?
I have replaced the screen on my phone and used E6000 glue, it is clear and does not run like super glue.
Edit: they also make it in black.
