I have tried both alternatives to the lack of one on the 6T. Nice apps ,but just not working out for me .. considering all the posts on the subject, does OP have any plans for a fix/update, @funkwizard? Thanks in advance

I'll be honest, I don't miss the LED notification. It really frees me to not be a slave to the phone. I use Mighty Text on the phone and at least while I'm home, notifications will show up on my laptop. The last few days I've been using their Chrome plugins which adds more notifications to the desktop, but I'm about ready to uninstall that because it can be really annoying.
I miss the LED terribly but haven't had time to look at the software alternatives. I often need to have the phone completely silent/no vibration, and not being able to see what's going on via varicolored strobing LED is a miss. Love the phone otherwise, but I really gotta sort out a solution using ambient display or some such, without killing the battery.

Plusbeat. I've tried pretty much every other app none of them work well but that one.
Plusbeat is the best one. Love it
I use AOE and it is working great for me
I actually despise when people post
"There's a beer going your way
Confirmation number blah blah blah!"
Because i ponder and ponder and fail to see any other reason than bragging; however, I'm only doing this to convince you of how much i like the app! Do note, this isn't a premium i paid to unlock functionality, it's just well deserved, in my opinion...

It's a app that lights up the edge of your screen when a notification comes in. It can also light up the Status Bar area if you are in another app.

Very nice aod but it eats too much battery, it was at 18% battery usage, so I uninstalled it.
I am going to backup my stock rom and try the new aod magisk module

From my reading it seems Windows Phone 7 doesn't have any support for LED notifications. This adds to the already huge population of iPhone users that are used to not having it either. It really surprises me that these platforms choose to leave this feature out, because to me it's invaluable. I use it throughout the day to see if I need to turn my phone on after returning to my desk (at home or work), and not having it requires manual checks to see if I've missed anything. Why should I have to bother with that? So I'm curious if other Android users find it just as valuable, and if you're just as dumbfounded why these other platforms don't have it.
I love it, but hate how it always stays lit when charging on my nightstand.
Can't live without it for notifications. Wish it was multi colored like the Droid as well.

+1 here the wimax leds are pretty cool. Also we get the short end of the stick compared to the blackberry leds. They have stock 7 color leds.

I completely agree. The LEDs on Blackberrys are amazing. I cannot fathom why these other manufacturers don't put more effort into LED notifications.

Yeah, nothing's is as good as a BlackBerry but what the EVO has isn't bad, definitely better than nothing. It's just with two major consumer-oriented platforms leaving it out (inexplicably), I hope Android manufacturers don't eventually do away with it.
This is a feature I have always liked on all of my phones.

Yeah but that always freaks me out, thinking its going to burn my screen out. I know it probably won't, but I freak out.
Also why would one need an LED light on a tablet?

Why wouldn't you want useful things?
Out of curiosity, which tablets do have notification LEDs? I've tried searching but it's come up vague.
i've yet to see any tablet with an LED.
It's not needed as much on a tablet as on the phone with missed calls and texts.
NoLED should suffice just fine. And NoLED combats burn-in by having an option to move the notification around so it's never using the same pixel for long.
ive had noled on all s1 and s2 and s3 and i have never had any problems with it and now they have themes!!

I mean I wouldn't mind an LED light at all, but I see more of a use for it on a phone (unread text, missed call) than a tablet. I always have new emails so I don't know what it would really notify me of.

NoLED is really only for OLED screens, on an IPS it will run your battery bone dry in double time
Notification lights for things like Gmail, Facebook, Twitter
My HP Touchpad has an LED...
Idea, is it not possible to make a costum ROM with a function, "use screen as notification LED"?
I do not mind that there is no LED. I have a U20I thats runs so slow, that any replacement for android gaming is good for me .
My current tablet has capacitive keys and I use backlight notifications, so not having BLN will take a little getting used to.

NoLED has an option to not turn the screen on when the proximity sensor is "close", so you can just keep the tablet face down when it's not on the charger.

Well,
One of the lacks of our G6 is the notification led.
And I hate with allways display being allways on....
Anyone knows a way we can task to turn on always on display only when we have a new notification?
I think it whould be great and very battery friendly!

Me too, I would prefer also an implementation more like ambient display with gestures.
Also interested in that feature. It would be awesome if the screen just comes on when there is a new notification. It makes no sense to have it on all the time.
I don't know why lg does not implement this feature but packs all the "second screen" menus from the v10 as hidden menus into the g6.
The g6 is awesome (even with 32gb, no quad dac and ir... come on lg... but i bought it anyways), but now i just found out how much i miss the notification led from my gnex and i can't tolerate excessive battery drain by having an lcd on all day when there is no new information.
What “exzessive battery drain“?

Yes it switches off but for me it does not need to be on when there is no notification.
That would reduce the drain even more when >90% of the time there is nothing to be seen and if i want to see the time i can switch it on myself.
Just as an alternative to the missing notification led. Would be a very handy feature to minimize the backlight time and still see notifications and i am sure others would love that too.

Okay I agree with the LED. It is a fine feature.
I want AOD also for the time so it has to be shown.
Otherwise more customizations would be nice.
In your case "show only new notifications" for example.
LG has to consider that it should be not to complicated.
I was hoping we would get background images like samsungs on AOD.
Anyone to help with a tweak or something?

Of course there's a battery drain. It may be minimized but it's definitely there.
LG wouldn't include a switch for it in battery saver if it didn't.

Guess I'm on the other side of the coin, I think this complaint is ridiculous, I like the AOD notification or not, with the addition of an led notification it would better.. It doesn't drain enough battery for me to care, if you don't want to see it turn the phone over or keep in pocket. Unless you're creeping and don't your partner to see you have a text (lol) its a non complaint IMO.

I love the AOD. It was very annoying to doubt tap my Pixel every time just to see if there is a notification. Battery life is pretty good still. I can't see this using maybe 5-6% over a charge.
So lack of LED is making me kind of delayed in checking notifications, and that feels weird to me. Is there any way we can implement/enable AOD on OP6T? Root/Non-root, either works. I tried the OG mod for 5 and 5t, which works for 6 too, but crashes in 6T for some reason.
Would be into this as well.

Not that I can tell, but if you click the notification when you unlock the device it goes straight to that notification event.
In the post, paphonb-oos-mods-v14.zip, instead of the OPsystemUI.apk, BRUSH-IN test is available, lock screen layout is offset, harmless and elegant.

Not noticably any more than always on display does.
Meaning, it doesn't effect doze. But it is an app always running, so it will use a marginal amount of more power.
On day 2 it uses more battery than the rest of the apps, but I really don't think it's a problem. I'm getting 6+ hours sot. Display at around 90% brightness. I don't do any 3d, intensive games though. Clash of clans, chrome, Google feed, email, text and calls.
I haven't noticed the lack of the led, since I can just touch the screen and take a quick look at the notifications.

Hi guys,
I found this NoLED app, and it's a great alternative to replace the lack of notification light in the OP6T.
But this app is not available in the play store anymore. Does anybody have an idea what happened? I know I can always find the APK, but I wanted to know if it was a privacy issue.
I know there are other alternatives, such as Plus Beat, but I think the light dot would be the best alternative for a lot of people.
Thank you!

Nope, but that's the only downside. But NoLED did also not use ambient display. And I also don't think this app is a battery killer since I still have 11 to 12 hour Sot while using the app.
I loved and used NoLED for years until not long ago...got a copy of the apk. Attached it.
For fun I just installed in on Beta 4, seems like it messes up the screen/conflict with the ambient display..maybe mess with it. Wonky unlocking it.
Would really like to get AOD back!!!
I think Light Flow is much better compare to others.
I just downloaded NoLED to my Galaxy J7, since it doesn't have a notification LED. I like the app, but when I pick up the phone & see the icon? It's a little tricky to get the phone to wake up. I also just noticed that once an icon appears? I have to turn my phone off, then on again, if I want to make a call. Odd, huh? The app (NoLED) can still be found & downloaded at: apkpure. com
Tried the last 2 versions on my LG V40, running Android 9. For some reason version 6.0.20 didn't perform well but the previous version 6.0.19 works well.
The only issue I have is the double tap to open doesn't work all the time and I need to tap the home button.
