Serious Software problem discussion - Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) Questions & Answers

My Samsung J730 GM Indian version have problem of software
Its show only an error has occur while updating the software. I tried with smart switch old version to get option software initialization on type model no
And S/N its say wrong model or S/N
2nd method I tried Odin latest old both with download mode
Flashing latest file here is link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Fva-8E3gkI80qtyVNB9wki3aVdOB2zP8/view
All drivers are install Odin say added but all flash files are added to Odin but when I click on start its it's does not say failed after 10 to 15 min after say failed phone in download mode does not. Indicates its work or not even service center say we not able to repair even my phone is fully company given product so XDA is my last hope

you need to install the latest version of the available firmware.
I also had the same problem, it happens that the firmware that tried to install by odin was a few months older than it was installed on the device.
this happens because the bootloader is locked
must be downloaded from the sammobile site.

Update not working via OTA & Kies

Hello
I manage to build up a GT-I9505.
All the parts that I used are from defective devices purchased from Ebay (main board ; display etc)
At the first start the phone had a strange firmware installed and was in a factory mode.
I did a research on google and I manage to exit from the factory mode and also to flash a new firmware (I9505XXUBMF8).
The new firmware contained PDA/CSC/Modem/BOOTLOADER.
I use the phone since 2 or 3 weeks with no problemes.
But last days I found out that there is a newer firmware (I9505XXUBMGA) so I tried to update via OTA.
Unfortunately each time when I trie to update via OTA i get "network or server error please try later".
Also via Kies I got :
"your device's curent firmware is not supported to update firmware via Kies
current firmware version : PDA:MF8 / PHONE:MF8 / CSC:MF8 (XXX)
What can I do in this case?
The PDA/Modem/CSC seems to match.
From what I read on variuous forums this is all that matters on samsung phones to get updates via OTA & Kies.
Or also the IMEI needs to mach with the PDA/Modem/CSC?
In my case the IMEI is 0 but still the phone works on all the carriers from my country.
Any advice on how to get update work via Kies & OTA will be apreciated.
Thank you

Had the same problem when switching roms (Vodafone Dutch to DBT German) and fixed it.
1. Turn phone off
2. Do the 3 button combo (home button, volume up + power on)
3. CSC will be correctly installed.
4. Reboot phone and your pc
5. Check again
If that didn't work download the full rom and flash it with odin. That will fix it too

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N9109W (China) Bootloop - No Access to Recovery

Hello everyone, I'd like to start off by saying I am a complete newcomer to all this so please explain literally all of the terminology/jargon you intend to use and correct me when I use it wrong.
I have a Chinese version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N9109W and up until yesterday it was running out of the box on android 4.4.4. I care not for any of the data on the phone nor the warranty as there was none to begin with when it was gifted to me.
I attempted to "root" it as I didn't want any of the Chinese apps/restrictions on it but have failed miserably and now my phone is stuck in a bootloop.
I was following this guide if it helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/root-note-4-sm-n910c-t2977948 and downloaded the appropriate Snapdragon version (SM-N9109W).
I cannot enter recovery mode by holding down *power+vol up+home* as it just keeps on rebooting. I can, however, get into the downloader by holding down *power+vol down+home*.
I have tried for the entirety of today to find a specific guide for the Chinese note 4 on xda, youtube and google but to no avail - nothing that I can find is identical to my situation and I am hesitant to do anything further to it by following a similar guide in case I make it worse.
I have repeatedly seen suggestions to "flash" stock rom and as I can get into the downloader I believe this would be a great starting point, but once again I am afraid to do anything without a specific guide for the N9109W.
A few people have referred to SamMobile to download stock rom, but a search for SM-N9109W lists 8 files for 4.4.4 and I believe I have no way of working out my PDA or CSC, yet again I don't know what these even are and they might not be relevant?
Any assistance in getting my phone's software back to "out of the box" conditions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you for your time and patience,
Ryan
If you can enter Download mode then you can flash that firmware you found matching your device's exact model no. via Odin. Just put the ROM in AP/PDA tab (PDA for older Odin versions, AP for new) and hit start.

Thank you ithehappy for the reply,
When I search for the stock firmware on SamMobile, I type in my exact model number (SM-N9109W). This search returns with a list of multiple different versions for my phone, of which 8 are 4.4.4 (my initial version).
Does it matter which version I download and install?
To my knowledge, I have no way of finding my CSC or PDA unless you know of a database I can use to search the information that is physically on my phone? Once again, does it matter that I know what these are or can I simply download, for example, version 5.1.1 and flash that on instead of my original 4.4.4? Or, will this just cause further possibly unfixable problems?
Thank you for your help
Anyone?
No, you can download any one you want.
Thank you for the help, ithehappy. I now have a working phone!
For future readers, I downloaded the latest version of 4.4.4 that SamMobile had (2015-03-27) for my model (SM-N9109W):
PDA: N9109WKEU1ANL3
CSC: N9109WCTC1ANL3
It failed the first time I tried flashing with Odin 3.10.7, but whilst I was hastily taking screenshots of my problem to post here I accidentally started the transfer again and it successfully installed that time.
I followed the instructions on SamMobile for the installation.
This version of the firmware I installed does not have any google services (thank China for that), so keep that in mind.
Thank you

View call history in locked phone

Hi All,
Can we retrieve the call history from a Samsung galaxy S5 (SM-I900H).
The phone actually belongs to a deceased person(a blood relative) and we want to see whats in the phone.
I have tried a few methods such as
invoking MyPhoneExplorer application from adb. (unable to share the exact link due to xda restriction.)
USB debugging is OFF so I could not proceed further.
The phone was booting and waiting for correct password on the login screen at that point of time.
Recently I tried another windows application called
"Wondershare Dr.Fone for Android".
It has a feature called Android Data Extraction, it tried to download some image to the phone. My bad that there was mis-match between the actualy device model(SM-900H) and the model selected in the Dr.Fone application(SM-900I).
The download was terminated in the middle and now the phone doesnt boot up. I am getting the below message when the device is switched on
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
Can somebody please help in data extraction from the device.
Bumping the thread to get some response

That part is easy (ish)
Youll need to download firmware for the device (I use fw.updato.com) and flash with Odin. (google/xda search)
Usually there's a 99.9% chance this will go fine without loosing the data on the phone, essentailly at this point, you kinda have to take the 0.01% chance of data loss, you wont get it any other way...
Wondershare's website list compatibility up to 5.0 for that device, id strongly recommend flashing the 5.0 OS, and not upgrading to 6.0.1 until after you are sorted.
As far as the data recovery, from there you are on your own, never used that soft ware, but the above will get you a booting device
Thank you so much Sam for replying.
Wish you a very happy new year !!
The current Android version on the device is Marshmallow (6.0.1).
I found a 5.0 firmware version for India region from fw updato website, but can you please suggest for the below queries.
Should I download all the 3 binaries (PDA, CSC, Phone) to the device?
If I download all the 3 binaries using odin, is there a good chance that the data will still be available?
Thank you in advance.

S7 Edge Emergency help!!!

Hi, I have a huge problem, I locked myself out of my S7 edge and it frp'd on me after trying for days to fix the problem (I entered the wrong email and kept receiving the incorrect password message and I rest the password to wrong email and later deleted the email) I had my friend who is really good with fixing things. He got it to work and not sure how he did what he did, but he got an update tried to install it. It crashed and is telling me to use the Smart switch PC Emergency Recovery Function. But that's not the worst part.
The major problem is that it is showing that the phone is a SM-G935P. I don't know what he did or how he did it. But I am sure someone on this site can help. I have tried most of the Odin program's I seen and I have downloaded some much firmware that I am begging for help. Samsung said they will help with the frp once I get the phone back working some what can any one help. We been trying for about two months straight. I am going to upload a picture of what the screen days in download mode.

From what I can tell it seems your friend installed Sprint's newer firmware on your device which has a binary version of 6 while the other carriers' firmware are on binary version 4. Sprint did this to make it harder for their customers to switch mobile carriers by not allowing the device to downgrade the binary version (the binary/bootloader version of the firmware is indicated by the digit in the 5th from last character in the firmware version. G935PSPT6BRD2 as shown here the binary version is 6. So now you are stuck on Sprint's firmware and will need to download the latest version of their firmware link: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935p/
Use the PrinceCosmy version of Odin to flash this and you should be able to get back running from there.
Also by your Download Mode screen's information it also indicated that your FRP Lock is not activated so once you flash the updated Sprint firmware you should be golden.

Double check your firmware version you are flashing and that it is the latest Sprint firmware listed in Sammobile (G935PSPT6BRD2)

IMPORTANT REMINDER TO OTHER USERS SINCE THIS IS POSTED IN THE VERIZON FORUM: This is only a solution if you are experiencing the same issue with your phone model SM-G935P (Sprint)..Do not attempt to flash this particular firmware if you are not already stuck with the updated binary version Sprint pushed to their customers as of November 2017 because you will not be able to flash any other of the carriers' roms as it seems the others are not going to update their binary version. When this firmware is flashed to your phone you will (at least for the foreseeable future) be stuck with Sprint's version of the S7 Edge which includes their bloat etc...although you will still be able to unlock the phone for use on other carriers, it will prove to be very difficult to use your carrier's full extent of features as most of those features will not be available in this rom/firmware. Again if your device shows as any other model (G935A, G935V, G935T) then do the research to find the firmware for your model because you will have many more options staying away from this firmware, I've been reading many many posts where users have carelessly flashed Sprint's updated firmware and are unable to go back because of this.

The binary versions have to match (what's currently on phone versus what you're trying to flash) unless it's an upgrade (higher numbered ). The 5th number from the right would be the version number, in your case the firmware you're trying to flash G935FXXS4ESCB, 4 would be the binary. You need to find out what version your phone is on currently then either match the binary number or upgrade to latest. Google your phone model (SM-G935F) and check to see what the latest firmware version is. You may have taken a software update at some point in the past since you last Odin flashed which may have upgraded your software to newer binary.
You also may need to ensure you are using Odin3 v3.13.1 for newer file format (lz4) in Oreo.
For firmware version verification for your phone model check link below:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s7-edge/firmware/SM-G935F/
Hope this helps ...
