Compiled TWRP doesn't boot. - Android Software Development

Does anyone have a HTC Desire 700 dual SIM (also called 7060 in several regions), codenamed cp5dug ? If possible, can you compile it with
Code:
https://github.com/minimal-manifest-twrp/platform_manifest_twrp_omni
as the manifest,
Code:
https://github.com/minhducsun2002/android_kernel_htc_cp5dug/
as the kernel source and
Code:
https://github.com/minhducsun2002/android_device_htc_cp5dug/
as the device tree, then boot the output recovery ?
Code:
out/target/product/cp5dug/recovery.img
).
Mine doesn't boot for some reason.
Many thanks for any support.

Try pulling a few logs.If there are some built try them first. It's highly uncommon for recoveries to not boot. The only reasons being the architecture. That is a S5 recovery will boot on z2 note 3 and even nexus 5 without complications. So,You weirded up big times.

Guys over at 4pda make a working CWM recovery, but selecting menu items isn't possible, so, theoretically, it boots but it's useless.

I re-tried with the stock kernel. No luck.

So I asked a guy who has very vast knowledge of android and stuff and he said that the only reasons for this kinda behaviour would either be a cortex arch or a custom snapdragon.

Thank you so much. But... I compiled with Google's ARM-EABI 4.9 official toolchain, and the source code of the kernel was the version provided by HTC, so..., well, it should have worked.

If no one tries it by tomorrow I will do it. At work right now and have the kids tonight.

I would suggest not tryin to perm root until we have specific directions for our phone. It won't be too long until that happens so just be patient.
Good news and great work to the G2 team. Shouldn't take too long for us!
I am not 100% sure about this but we may need the kernel source for this. If I understand they way they got WP off was by using a kernel module to power down the emmc and then another to reinitialize it, we could need espresso source to make it work. I may be wrong though and someone may have it done by tomorrow.......
i'll wait for a script to be released to the market
double post
Don't try this with the G2 method. They're loading a kernel module that's kernel specific if I'm not mistaken. We need a specific module for the MT4G.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
They did a awesome job!! Now everyone with the MT4G needs to bug HTC for the Kernel source code for our phones! Then we can recompile this the day its released and have S-Off on the MT4G. This will also let us create the overclock module for non rooted people. I cannot wait to see what this phone can really do!
Thanks to everyone in #G2root!!
Alright, I developed the effit attitude and figured if I screwed it up I would just play stupid. (I'm from Kentucky so the stereotype and accent work in my favor sometimes. )
I tried both kernel modules (wpthis-pre-ota.ko and wpthis-ota.ko) and both gave me an EXEC FORMAT ERROR. I ignored the errors and drove on with the instructions. DD'ing the hboot-eng.img went flawlessly and sync appeared to work b/c it just gave me a prompt waiting for the next command.
After reboot everything stayed the same S=on was still laughing at me. Sooooo, nogo.
All I got from this was the errors. No brick!

I read a post saying they reversed engineered it before HTC released the kernel source. One way or another we'll get it.

The EXEC FORMAT ERROR was because of mismatching kernel versions! We have to have one made against the HTC Glacier(MyTouch 4G) kernel source, which has not been released by HTC.
Also, the Engineering HBoot is specific to the G2. You could've bricked if you weren't careful.

Just figured I'd give it a shot. Nothing ventured nothing gained right.
Anyway, I figured it wouldn't work before I tried it due to different kernel builds. If I am looking at the two phones correctly they both have 2.6.32 kernels just different builds of it. And the architecture of the phones should be very similar based on the use of the qualcomm chips.
Could have bricked the phone, yes, but also could have (slight chance) worked without having to recompile anything.

[ROM]StockICS-Converted to Flashable ZIP

You are free to kang this all you like, just mention my name. I realized that a zip would probably be easier for real devs to work with. All I'm trying to do is promote more development.
It would be great if Adam or someone could do something with this.

Porting CyanogenMod to Desire 820s MT6752

I came across CM12.1 rom for Lenovo K3 Note on needrom. Considering that K3 have the same chipset as ours, I've been thinking that it can be ported to our device.
I've tried to port it past few days but failed. Any developer would come up and try to port it?
What have you done? Device tree something else?
Nope. Just changing libs here and there, according to this guide. I'm still noob in porting roms so I can't do much.

Yes. I'm actually having problem in repacking system.new.dat files. The same as the guy face here. Finding the solution require me to learn Linux. I'm still new at Linux, so I need some time to learn.
Other than that is okay (perhaps). I followed some other guides like http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-port-lollipop-based-roms-t3223938 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707438.
Oh and one more thing, the rom is ported by @Cheshkin. I've tried to seek his permission to port the rom through pm, but still no answer. So I cannot post the rom here (if I done porting it) without his permission.

I already did, but I can't repack it. So instead I tried looking for other roms while staying away from dat files - cm12.1 ulefone be touch 2 and blisspop k3 note.
Now I'm having problems with the kernel. The rom won't boot at all, the worse I can't get the dmesg.
I don't have much free time to explore kernels in detail. If anybody can help me with porting the kernel, it would be a pleasure.

Good news!! I have finally managed to boot into CM 12.1 after I successfully ported it today.
It's lightning fast but has some bugs: USB, bluetooth and Sim don't work currently and it needs some resizing of the framework images.
I will try to work on it until Sunday and hopefully someone else can take over with modifying it

In fastboot you don't even have the option to start the system, since the kernel is not recognized.

Will tinker a bit more tho.
Dont think fw would prevent boot. It could cause issues later on. With fp camera or audio

Were all hoping to get a working custom rom for this device, Keep up bro. Thanks for trying
Seems like all the GSI ROMs break some hardware functionality at this stage so the best option for now is to root and debloat stock and load your own preferred apps in place of the Samsung / Google ones. Not quite a "Custom" ROM but makes for a pleasant enough phone that you can tolerate much more than the horror of stock.
Now a custom kernel to clock our severely crippled SoC back to its full glory would be a thing to smile about

I think that's because you have to add the device in 8)Room tools, 4)Asserts menu, 1)Add/remove device, then try adding the device, in my case i added "a20,a205g", i don't really know what device name TWRP reads

I added just a20. It flashed but froze on the Samsung screen.
Progress.
It's all a learning experience.
