The microphone only works with phone calls. WhatsApp voice messages, Google commands, any other app does not work. A complete reset didn't help either. Looks like a software bug. Otherwise, the microphone would not work on phone calls.
I was able to recreate the error using a recorder app. Whenever the microphone is set to mono, recording is no longer possible. Once the recording is set to stereo, the microphone will work fine. WhatsApp, Google commands seem to use the mono setting and do not work. Is there an app that can permanently set the microphone to stereo?
Newest Android version with latest November patch.
Any ideas?
Mine works but sounds horrible.

Dear community,
the mic seems to work perfectly fine when I record videos.
However my voice messages on Whatsapp, as well as any recordings with the built in voice recorder don't record properly. There is only strange noise, hissing.
Do you know Any solution?
Thank you!
Kevin
Update: when I switch to "interview" mode while using built in voice recorder the recording comes out fine.
Does anyone understand what is going on?
I have the full android 6 installed and it is running fine - except one thing:
when using Skype or LINE messenger, I do not hear the other side.
Since audio is working with music files and TV, I guess this is somehow a matter of encoding/decoding the special messenger streams. (On my chinese android box, all works fine. )
I made an interesting discovery: in Skype for Android there is an option to switch audio out between loudspeaker and earphone. The default is loudspeaker, in this mode you not hear any sound. Switching to earphone, everything is fine.
I found the app "SoundAbout". With this app, you can force media audio and phone call audio to HDMI. Now veverything works.

Hello.
Anybody using Whatsapp voice calling from android MTK smartwatch?
I have Finow X5+, and voice calling works, but only second side can hear me. Looks like voice on MTK device is redirected to "unknown" audio output (should be loudspeaker).
Sounds like a permissions issue....

How to diagnose/repair that?
Additionally - when someone is calling to me, then Whatsapp is using Loudspeaker for ringing without problems.
I tried Whatsapp voice calling with bluetooth headphones - it works. Not perfectly (my voice interrupts frequently - maybe CPU is to slow), but this confirms my theory.

I have the same mic problem.
Did you open a support case?

I talked to support today. The problem is the last update. After that, all apps except the phone app use the rear microphone. I asked for a fix and waiting for an answer.
I prefer using cabled earphones on phone calls but it's very annoying on this device as I can hear my own voice through the headphones when I speak. This is a feature called "sidetone" or "microphone monitoring" and for example on windows it can be disabled.
It's surely not related to the headset because it's only when making calls through the phone app but not on whatsapp, skype, etc calls.
My phone is rooted and I am running crdroid on a11. I never ran it on stock so I don't even know if this related to crdroid or not.
Is there anyway to disable this feature or maybe install another phone app which doesn't have this?
Google is not showing much when searching for this, except for some Pixel users having this problem after updating to a13:
Pixel 4a(android 13) call issues when using a wired earphones with mic - Google Pixel Community
Edit: Just installed another dialer which didn't help, so it's something which has to be changed in the system.
Edit2: My girlfriend solved it. When using the Apple USBC to 3.5mm adapter (instead of the one I was using before) the issue is not there.
