Skype Bluetooth Audio Problem

Hi
I have installed skype. Audio comes through the loudspeaker, I have tried to route it to bluetooth earpiece ( jawbone prime) or at least use the front speaker.
Unfortunately no results.
I have tried audiorouter V1.0.1, BTaudio and even fring, no results, audio is still coming through speakerphone.
There an option in Bluetooth-> advanced-> play systems sounds through bluetooth but the sound ( my voice ) is distorted to the person I am calling.
Sounds like my voice has been speed up.
Any resoultion ?

Have the same issue
I have a HTC TP2 w/Plantronics Voyager PRO and the same thing I sound like a chipmunk. Skype was no help. Has Anyone figured it out?

I had a similar problem, and have not found a solution, but instead I started using Skype To Go and instead of using Skype's software. it is just a regular phone call. Sound quality is much better, but it has it's limitations. I use skype almost exclusively for outgoing international calls and therefore it works for me. (it also works for me because I have a lot of unused minutes)

I tried to make a call with Skype (Skype testing service) - the sound quality was poor.
Tried to make a call to another Skype user - I could hear him well, but my voice was muffled.
Solution:
Just plug in a headphone/earpiece (that has NO microphone) into the headset. You can then use the internal mic on the A500 to make your calls over Skype. The sound quality is very good in both skype and gtalk.
I did try my Iphone's earpiece, which has a mic, but the sound was muffled.

I have to do this too, do any others not have to do this?

I spoke with my wife a few minutes ago and asked her how I sounded the other day. I used Gtalk and she did too... she was able to hear me and I was very clear.
Not only that, but I was using 3G with only a single bar. Had poor video quality obviously, but sound was flawless.

Called with video on gTalk, being on WIFI - good quality audio, average video...
Skype working with no problem, too

Uhh gtalk has video with gmail gtalk or other supporting android device.
Skype I think has video only with select Verizon handsets or something like that

Only GTalk had video calling feature for me. It just was here originally. Called from my Desktop with web-cam to my Acer.
Skype - audio only. No video. (yet? )

Nope It is available everywhere in the world.
If the person you are trying to reach has a video version of gtalk you should see a green camera on the side.
PS for those that do not have a video version of gtalk on their android phone you can use a free app called vtok which allows videoconferencing with gtalk client
That is what i have been using on my HTC DHD and it works great.

Where is the microphone located ? I'm never sure which areas to aim my voice towards when speaking.

Holding the A500 in portrait mode, with the volume control button on the right, look for a small hole on the right side, between the glass and the bezel.
It is about 5 inches from where the power switch is located.

If you have the Acer case, the mic is cover by the velcro tab (go figure).
Is there a mic for the front camera?
I can't seem to find one.

Thank you. Took me a minute but I found it. Voice to text has been very difficult thus far in comparison to my nexus 1.

thanks so just download the skype and you are in business. Is this easy to use sir?

found a fix, you can use an external mic the one built in is good but the software is making it retard. If you plug in a headphone with a mic in it or just a plain old mic it will work great, i have tested it for a good 3 hours, it works. Much much better sound.
google voice search doesn't work for $$$$ no matter how good your mic is. 3.1 was a huge ****up by acer HUGE

I think the issue is that some folks aren't used to a true noise cancelling mic. It's using a dual analog noise cancelling mic. so it's filtering noise while capturing your voice or capturing your voice 'twice' if you're using it properly/close by.
If you're trying to use the Mic in a noisy area, it may cancel some of your voice as noise unless you speak up or put it somewhat close to your face or speak directly facing it. In other words, picture yourself on a video call. When you set yourself up to be seen by the camera properly, that is ultimately when the Mic will be at it's best.
I imagine people are using it with with a phone's mic in mind but they are unfortunately not the same. A phone's mic is located as close to the mouth as possible without allowing users to blow into it. The mic on the A500 is located away/out of finger reach, primarily and directly facing your mouth.
In the end, I think the best advice for using the mic is telling you to use it like you're on a speakerphone call. Clear, precise vocalization. You can also run the best test with the Voice Recorder to kind of hear how well your voice is picked up from various angles. I found, as I mentioned before...that I am most clear in either portrait or landscape mode with the tablet roughly a foot to 18 inches from my face, similar to how I'd hold it for a web cam. I found that if I spoke as if I were using a speakerphone, I got the best results....even while the TV is on or music is playing. I lost ground however, when I lay the tablet flat on a surface or docked out of line of sight, that is, beside me or elsewhere. I also have no issues with using Google Voice Search.

Nexus 4 hands free problems

First post here, so apologies and let the flaming begin but I am trying to determine if my Nexus 4 "issues" are unique to me or normal for this phone.
1. Issue #1 - Bluetooth functions only for numeric dialing, no voice (say name phonetically) dialing or other voice actions seem to work. You can speak the numbers you wish dialed and that's about it. Maybe others can confirm whether this is unique to me. Android ver 4.2.1. Using with a Sena SMH10 bluetooth motorcycle headset
2. Minor issue, but also related - I can not use a stereo headset with my phone and expect the handset mic to work. Something that simply works in every other smart phone I've owned. You plug in a stereo headset (3 conductor earbuds only, not 4 conductor with mic for example) and the phone ideally recognizes the lack of 4th conductor and sends output audio to headphone while using handset mic. So, if you wish to make a call, you can do so. And if you wish to communicate with your phone using verbal commands you may do so as well. You may get "some" functionality using a 3 conductor headphone, however try making a call to someone and it simply doesn't work.
I don't think my phone issues are unique, but perhaps I got a lemon? Nexus support can't seem to confirm whether or not its a known issue.
Anyone else have these "features"?

Issue #1. Confirmed hands free dialing works over Bluetooth using blue ant s4. In fact I was excited they actually reworked the voice dialer to be accurate!

Well that's certainly weird. The headset I am using lists the following profiles:
Key Specifications:
• Bluetooth v2.1+EDR, Class1
• Supporting profiles: Headset Profile, Hand-Free Profile (HFP), Advanced Audio
Distribution Profile (A2DP), Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
The Settings tab of this headset in my Nexus say it is paired for:
-Phone Audio
-Media Audio

This headset worked flawlessly with my previous phone, an HTC MyTouch 4G running Android 2.3
When i attempt a call, I get a prompt from the phone "Voice Dialer" that says:
"Say Call, followed by a name or a number"
If i speak the numbers to dial, it works perfectly. If I say the name of any person in my google contacts list, it balks and exits right away, sometimes saying "Sorry, I didn't catch that"

HF Dialing has been horribly broken in Android for some time. You might try disconnecting it from A2DP to see if that helps. For me, since I use a moto headset, I went with Motospeak and it works pretty well.

This works fine for me. I've used it a number of times in the car, where I have a stereo cable to an FM transmitter, and I just tested it with a no-microphone set of headphones: my voice went through the phone microphone with no problems.

I understand your frustration. Hands free dialing is a feature I don't like to do without. After jumping to jellybean from ICS on my fascinate handsfree was horrible.
When I set up my blue ant with any phone it goes through a "transferring contacts" part of the setup. Perhaps this is why it can recognize the peoples names and not just the numbers.
Does your headset "transfer contacts" like the S4?

No, the headset is strictly a phone headset as far as that goes. Not a sync device like some cars, etc. In that case, it might work since dialing could be handled by the Bluetooth device?
I'm no expert, but relying on the nexus dialer seems to be the issue. What baffles me is that when not using Bluetooth and using the Google voice search, it actually works. If pressing the "pickup/hangup" button actually launched Google voice actions... It would solve the problem as well as give me further hands free operations such as nav and music control.
Anyone know how to make that action occur with Bluetooth button?
As for #2, I actually called nexus device support, and while speaking to the rep plugged in my skull candy ear buds. He confirmed that mic sounded extremely garbled and not understandable. These same ear buds world fine on my old my touch and my girlfriends iPhone. Both of those phones recognize them as basic stereo headphones and keep the handset mic intact.
I'm going to call them back and just get a replacement today. Screen has done the flicker/vertical lines thing now at least once too.

I'm having bt issues with my car stereo. It's after market that worked fine with my GNex. I can pair it with the N4 and it shows Phone Audio, but then after a few seconds disconnects. Could bt be bad on my N4? I normally have the headphone jack plugged in through aux and can take calls that way, but I'd like to get bt working again.
Update: after powering off the stereo and powering it back on it seems to be connecting ok

Just checked... Blue ant uses its own voice recognition to pair contacts with numbers and thereby bypasses phone voice dialer. That's why it works for you.

I just got a SMH10 as well. I am able to voice dial okay as well as use google music, what I don't like is no access to Google Now without handling the phone (which would require me to stop and get my phone out of my pocket). Not sure if this is an issue with the SMH10, or with android 4.2.x.
I know it's been over a month since you posted in here, curious about your usage and if you have found any tricks to get google now to work in place of the voice dialer only. Since google now should handle voice dialing I am hoping to get that to work so I can also use the navigation when needed.
Sending a note to Sena as well to see if they have a solution as well.

As of last week the bluetooth hands free calling feature was working fine on my Nexus 4. A couple days ago I went to call out using the hands free, and the display on my car stereo went blank for a few seconds and came up saying 'Not Supported'. I can receive calls fine, but for whatever reason the hands free voice recognition doesn't want to open when I ask it to now. Anyone have a similar problem?

I've had exactly the same thing happen. Weeks and weeks of working voice dialing through my Blueant S4. Now, it doesn't work at all. Incoming calls can be answered, but I can't dial out by voice.

mono microphone issue

The microphone only works with phone calls. WhatsApp voice messages, Google commands, any other app does not work. A complete reset didn't help either. Looks like a software bug. Otherwise, the microphone would not work on phone calls.
I was able to recreate the error using a recorder app. Whenever the microphone is set to mono, recording is no longer possible. Once the recording is set to stereo, the microphone will work fine. WhatsApp, Google commands seem to use the mono setting and do not work. Is there an app that can permanently set the microphone to stereo?
Newest Android version with latest November patch.
Any ideas?

Sidetone on phone calls

I prefer using cabled earphones on phone calls but it's very annoying on this device as I can hear my own voice through the headphones when I speak. This is a feature called "sidetone" or "microphone monitoring" and for example on windows it can be disabled.
It's surely not related to the headset because it's only when making calls through the phone app but not on whatsapp, skype, etc calls.
My phone is rooted and I am running crdroid on a11. I never ran it on stock so I don't even know if this related to crdroid or not.
Is there anyway to disable this feature or maybe install another phone app which doesn't have this?
Google is not showing much when searching for this, except for some Pixel users having this problem after updating to a13:

Edit: Just installed another dialer which didn't help, so it's something which has to be changed in the system.
Edit2: My girlfriend solved it. When using the Apple USBC to 3.5mm adapter (instead of the one I was using before) the issue is not there.
