It's a moronic comparison of two entirely different technologies.
Google isn't paying anything to the big techno blogs sites so what do you expect?
I've seen articles ranging from explaining how Google steals all your dataz and kills your dog to how google is bribing carriers and phone manufacturers to adapt android. The only thing you should do is to utilize your own judgement and get used to tech sites being like this. This isn't going to change anytime soon.
As I understand it the phone has the pixels it says it does it just doesn't utilize them properly, it also doesn't utilize RAM properly, I think it could also utilize the 5mp camera and 1ghz processor better.
The point is that the phone seems like it was rushed to the market and I believe a lot of the problems can be addressed with software updates. I just hope Google finishes whatever is taking all of their time so that the issues can be addressed. But I do think that so many of the issues can be resolved and this phone can truly become a "superphone". The nexus is taking a lot of well deserved criticism lately but Android has the ability to respond and improve the nexus/android experience without hardware overhaul, and I believe that's very shiny silver lining...
There's always some problem with every device. The only problem with nexus one is that it has no major issues, just minor ones which are being highlighted by iPhone lovers. AMOLED is a new technology, so things are different.
so he created some stippled greyscale pictures that produce artifacts because of the way the pixels are arranged on the N1 screen.
so what? like who looks at stippled greyscale pictures using their N1 anyway?
I also took a picture of some of the status bar icons using a digital camera in macro mode and my screen does not look like his picture of the 3g icon at all.
Its all about how the eye perceives images, forget that pseudo science. The AMOLED screen on the N1 is the best screen I have seen on any phone, black levels are incredible and contrast is good.
text is readable at a smaller font size than other phones.
If the N1s screen does have faults in the implementation of AMOLED then we can expect even better screens in the future using that technology, but as of today it is the best IMHO
Ha!

And still the UI isn't taking advantage of even that resolution, since the UI is only running at 320x533.

To be fair, many of us do recognize the fuzziness of the text and the article explains why that is happening. Perhaps a better statement (whether or not the tone of the article supports it) would have been "Your N1 has a beautiful sharp display that wows people, but the text seems a little fuzzier than you would expect for such a nice screen. Why the difference?"
I think the text can look a lot better with the right tweaks to the text rendering code, but either they tried and didn't get it right or they simply haven't created AMOLED-specific text rendering routines yet.
I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing this fuzzines of which ye speak.
I don't see the fuzzyness either.... and I got the best vision a human has... I read the bottom smallest lines at the eye doctor....
But whatever
Edit... after closely looking at it I see on the right of words a little fuzzy look, all I got to say is.... Bwahahahaha lame, I don't give a ****... nexus one is beautiful Lmaooo picky people...
Haters gonna hate.
This is so funny. I work in a design oriented field. While I do not plan on designing on the phone (probably would if the right apps come out!), I do use it to show and review design work. This phone does everything I need it to do. If it's good enough for me and my clients I'm guessing it is good enough for most. Hate on.
I've got two incredibles side by side. Both are apparently listed as 'samsung_oled_display' with dmesg.
Right one has a purple tint that is more obvious on low brightness. But colors pop more, more contrast, saturation. On high brightness, whites and blacks look more right.
Left is slightly brighter on equal settings. Has a slight yellowy tint that's more noticeable on high brightness. But nowhere near as obvious as the purple tint.
Any thoughts? What looks more like the typical Incredible display people get?
it looks like maybe some of your LED backlights aren't as bright, or out completely. notice the shadow on the edges of the two sides? i don't notice a difference other than in one of the pictures, though. maybe do a better job taking pictures that aren't as shaky/blurry?
Best I could do, the incredible is my best camera and couldn't use it.
And which picture and which phone are you referring to?
I'm more just wondering why there's such a difference, and which one looks most accurate to what everyone else has?
3rd picture is the one i noticed it on. however, i wouldn't say....with the pictures i have in front of me....that either are too far off from what "everyone else has".
if you're that concerned about it, call VZW.
I had the same problem with a replacement, had to get a new refurb that didn't have a pink screen. Customer service is not aware of the issue, you might have to take it to a store and even the techs might not see it.
Sent from my ADR6300
I did, this is my replacement ha... I'm not going to ask for a third, I'm just deciding which one is more like the rest.
And you don't think either are too far from what others have? Between the two there's a decent variation, Samsung amoled manufacturing just vary that much?
Only the first picture can I see a noticeable difference
I'm aware of people reporting a pinkish tint, but I didn't think its the same, since this comes off as purple to me.
And yea the first picture is the most obvious, but if you just look at the color difference in white, gray, black for the other 3 pictures, you can tell they're different tones/shades.
Honestly the left one is 'warmer' in tone and the right one is 'cooler'. Though right has better contrast and is overly saturated.
I think I'll probably keep the left one even though the right one is hands down amazing looking in full brightness, but looks all purplish in low, which is basically the setting I'll be using the phone most in.
Amoleds don't have background leds, the pixels emt the light themselves, as fat as I know

OLED doesnt use backlighting
Just pick the one that is easiest on your eyes. Yes colours will vary differently by batch (not usually by this much but really I can't tell a lot by these pictures). Personally to me overall one doesn't appear as bright as the other, so if they are using the same profiles, I'd take the bright one (but that's just me).
I think you are making a mountain out of mole hill. They both look ok, yes different but acceptable. It's a phone, you are not going to be doing Photoshop or high end video processing. If it bugs you, by all means take it back and ask for an exchange.
Oh I did, that's why I have two
And no I'm not, I can easily ask for a third. But like I said I won't.
I just thought I can get some expert opinions from others, -and- start a discussion.
There was a thread regarding evo's @ i6.photobucket. com/albums/y204/blu3g/002and003.jpg
that got some discussion.

They get dimmer over time, so yes the brighter one if in newer condition.
I'd prefer S-LCD to AMOLED anyday just for the fact that I dont have to worry about the screen dimming over time or burning in.
My girlfriends is like that. We both got our phones at the same time last June, same screens. She lost hers, and while her new one is AMOLED it's pinkish. It's only REALLY noticeable when the screen dims.
.... Seriously? You're complaining about a tint... A TINT!!!! the phone still works the same right? my replacement has the purplish tint too but who cares nobodies going to look at and say oh man your phone has a purplish tint what a fag lol
He was just asking a question because like most people on this forum, we are intrigued by how tech works, and we like to ask why do gadgets so the things they do, he wasn't complaining. Everybody who is saying that he needs to stop complaining needs to calm down, this isn't 4 chan. If you don't know why the screens are different colors, then there's no point in you commenting on this thread, especially if its to talk down to somebody under false accusations like some of you are.

i jsut got a replacement in the mail a week ago and i saw the same differences between my old one and new one. And i've heard of this happening to other people. Here is a thread all about this. I havent taken the time to read it but im sure it has the answer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656128
P.S. Garrett, you sound like a real douche
I've seen similar in my phone. I had to turn it in for a replacement and the first thing I noticed when I booted the new phone up was "hey, that white looks more pink than the original phone." Just to make sure I wasn't insane, I showed my wife the new phone and she immediately pops out "hey, that looks pink."
It's not bad enough that it's really a problem, just a little different, and the difference only really pops out at low brightness. I'm not going to re-return over it. At least this one doesn't have the spazzed out and possessed optical joystick that my first Inc did.
I don't bother doing reviews normally, but have now just posted this over on the Carphone Warehouse product page since they hassled me via email to do one (may not show up for a couple of days though).
Anyway, thought I'd cross-post it here in case anyone finds it interesting. Cheers.
For a couple of years now, since the big Android manufacturers decided we all wanted big 4.7+ inch slabs as premium phones, the "minority" of us who were calling out for a high-end device that can be operated one-handed were ignored. Until now...
Sony say with the Z1 Compact they have "invented our own market segment", but really it is re-inventing the market segment that existed 24 months ago. Either way, somebody finally listened and we now have a device that is a good size to hold in addition to being around the fastest and most capable on the market.
In short, Sony took the larger Z1 and shrunk it down to a 4.3" screen, reducing only the screen resolution (to 720p, which is higher PPI than the human eye can discern) and the battery capacity (but not the battery life, as the smaller screen draws less power). You can easily get a day and a half out of this device even with 4 or so hours screen on time. As a bonus, they also upgraded the screen to a lovely IPS display with better viewing angles than the Z1.
This phone feels very premium in the hand and in operation, and being my first Sony device I am stunned by its elegance every time I pick the thing up. Having used it in the rain a few times this week already I'm also wondering what I ever did without a waterproof phone before! Why do all manufacturers not do this? It would save a lot of phones that seem to get dropped in toilets (seriously, how do people manage this?!), and also the futile wastage of rice afterwards.
Software-wise, it comes with Android 4.3 but 4.4 should be out for it in a month or so. I would say Sony are probably among the best for not annoying you with over-the-top customisation of Android or bloatware so I don't immediately feel the need to root it and start tinkering. This is a very good thing. They do use their own apps for phone, SMS, etc etc of course but they all tend to do their job nicely without getting in your way.
--------
Now that I've done the glowing sale pitch - and I do mean every word of it as it is a fantastic phone - I do need to point out some flaws that are quite frankly unforgivable in my opinion:
(*) Poor software backing up the magnificent camera. The "Superior Auto" mode is very ironically named as it completely ruins especially low-light photos by cranking the ISO up far too high and then trying to correct the noise in a very ham-fisted way. The solution until Sony (hopefully) fix it in an update is to use Manual mode instead.
(*) Flash bleeding into the camera. While this doesn't happen for me so much, others have noticed the flash reflecting in the back cover it is supposed to shine through and hitting the edge of the camera lens, making some dark pictures have a coloured fog effect. It is less marked in Manual mode again.
(*) Why, oh why Sony, do you still insist on putting a scratch-prone "anti-shatter film" over the top of perfectly good scratch resistant glass?!? Customers have been complaining about this since at least the Xperia Z but they are being very pig-headed about it. I have no idea why they decide they need to be the only manufacturer to put it on top of the glass instead of the underside of it like everybody else does. It can be removed but then you risk the screen warranty if you do so. Still, I will probably remove the ASF from mine at some point as glass feels more premium to me and I HATE scratches.
--------
But don't let the negative points I have made dissuade you from this phone as they absolutely do not outweigh the positives by a long shot. I would give 5-stars to all categories except reliability due to the camera and scratch-prone ASF.
This is a magnificent technological achievement Sony have pulled off meaning I have a device that I am very proud to own and show off to big slab owners and iPhone users alike!

Plus 1 from me on all that was said.
ASF?
Great review man!
But since you hate scratches, much like I do, could you take a closer look at the back panel? There's no ASF, at least on my Z1c. And there's a potentially huge scandal evolving in forums about back panel being actually made of polycarbonate, not glass. Sony claims glass on both panels, but people say back panel gets scratched just by looking at it hard enough
I have my phone for 2 days and already got 2 deep scratches on the back. I haven't been able to scratch my iPhone 4s so badly in 2 years of use...
Well, if true then that would be another negative point definitely. Especially since they seem to have gone out of their way to hide it and appear happy for everyone to assume glass on the back.

I don't know how long the original version will remain on Sony's servers so I downloaded a copy just in case - looks as if someone tries to erase all traces of what I would call a false adverstising campaign....
yea i really hope they fix the camera software up a bit. for some reason some of my photos are coming out yellow-ish. this only happens inside when the lights are on. it can be fixed by editing the photo in pixlr express by dragging the hue bar to the left a bit, but its a bit of effort to be doing that for multiple photos. the photos seem very noisy/grainy as well.
i really wasnt expecting any of this since all the reviews about the camera were saying its the best on android atm. although plenty of sites mentioned it didnt do that well in low light, but some photos are coming out noisy even in shots that i would consider low light. seems to me that almost anything inside is out of the question.
anyway, its a really great phone apart from that. i probably shouldnt have checked the camera first because it put me off a bit!
EDIT: another thing that is frustrating me but probably isnt a problem for everybody is sony's naming convention for photos. instead of having a counter (or just adding the date and time like every other phone) it looks up the number of the last photo taken, dsc_005 for example, and then calls the next photo dsc_006. i would be ok with that but i have foldersync set up to move any photo that is taken or edited to the DCIM folder (so photos from snapseed, pixlr, different camera apps etc all end up in one single folder) but this set up doesnt work with sony's photos since the folder it saves to will empty each time. it keeps naming the photo dsc_001 and then foldersync keeps overwriting the same photo.
people have been asking them to change this for years now but it seems they want to be different. its just strange coming from a camera company like sony?
aaanyway, apart from those 3 things. great phone lol
This is a copy and paste of my review on the One Plus One forums:
I'll start off by rating each individual part that matters to me, of the phone, such as the camera, screen, etc.
Shipping: 9/10
Shipping has nothing to do with the device itself, but being that One Plus is an online merchant, shipping is a vital aspect to their product because it's the only way to get it. I ordered the phone July 1st, and by July 5th it was already in my hands... I also live on the other side of the country, Florida, so it was a really nice things that shipping and processing was so quick for me. Maybe I just got lucky and ordered it at the right time, but it got here quickly and that's what matters.
Packaging: 10/10
DSC_0036 by Scirca, on Flickr
I told myself I wouldn't give any 10/10's because perfection doesn't exist, but for the sake of being fair, this rating is more of a comparative one, not an absolute one.
The packaging is beautiful. It's simplistic, two toned, the colors pop out, it's truly a very nice experience to unbox the phone when you finally get it. I've unboxed many, many devices and the packaging which I've most liked is without a doubt, the One Plus One's.
Accessories: 9/10
DSC_0053 by Scirca, on Flickr
Have you seen the freaking cable. The phone is beautiful UP TO THE DAMN CABLE!
But seriously, this is a really nice cable bruH. The power brick is alright, but it's just a bit big in my opinion, it could serve the same function and perhaps be a bit smaller, or maybe it needs to be the size that it is, but I just prefer carrying around a smaller power brick. The inclusion of a SIM removal tool is nice and necessary (Apple didn't send me one when I ordered my 5S ) and I have no idea why it's made for a key ring but as you can see, it's already made itself home on my key ring, even though I might use it maybe twice in the life of the phone.
Design: 7/10
DSC_0054 by Scirca, on Flickr
Initially the design doesn't seem very striking... until you hold the phone in your hand. The sandstone black cover feels approximately like worn felt, and really gives it a super weird but really nice, premium feel. The tapered edges make the phone feel very thin, and the metal band around the screen nice, though it really doesn't add much to the phone other than looks.. The only thing is that the screen is slightly raised above the entire body of the device... one small mistake and you will probably end up killing the poor thing.
Button placement is just right, it makes one handed use with the phone a bit more comfortable, although I do have pretty big hands and one-handed use of the device is still a bit cumbersome. The speakers and ports look pretty great, but my biggest grip with the design, apart from the raised screen, is the fact that the headphone jack is on the top of the device; I really can't believe this is still a thing... if you normally put the device in your pocket bottom first, you are a sick, twisted person.
Speakers: 9/10
DSC_0047 by Scirca, on Flickr
The stereo speakers sound great and boy, are they loud. This isn't any studio quality or thousand dollar speakers, the bass is non-existent, mids sound kinda dead sometimes, but they're stereo, and they're loud, and it's usually the most neglected part of the phone, so the fact that they do their job well is always a bonus.
Camera: 10/10
DSC_0045 by Scirca, on Flickr
Oh boy here I go again with the perfect scores.
Repeat after me: Sony sensor, 13 Megapixels, f/2.0.
I'm gonna be honest with you here, I've always secretly had a thing for Sony and Carl Zeiss. They truly make some amazing sensors and glass, respectively. The camera module was an excellent choice by One Plus for the One. Dynamic range is pretty nice. Colors really depend on the light, but they're either eh, or really great (most of the time, the latter of the two). 13MP is a great number to work with, you can do significant cropping without much impact on the image quality. HDR and camera features are plenty, and the only thing missing is photo sphere, which albeit not very useful and sometimes buggy, it's an extremely cool feature.
Test Shots:
Some of these are HDR

Reception: 9/10
I guess ratings will vary here because it's a very relative rating to how well the other devices connected to this thing work, but I felt like I needed to add that the WiFi antenna on this phone is extremely powerful. Where every single phone I've owned over the years does not pick up the WiFi signal in my room (being that the router is on the other side of my house, and that's pretty far away from my room), not only does the One pick up the signal, but I see very little decrease in speed, which is truly impressive. Apart from that, 4G, 3G and edge are there and work. Signal strength from networks is pretty close to that of other phones.
Software/OS: 9/10 & Battery Life: 8/10
Screenshot_2014-07-13-11-25-19 by Scirca, on Flickr
One of the selling points of the One is Cyanogenmod. While I've always preferred other AOSP ROMs, namely AOKP, CM11 is a really great ROM. It's like vanilla bean ice cream, not quite vanilla, but nice indeed. There are a ton of features that it adds, and a great deal of functionality. The fact that the phone has at least one permanent team of developers is very reassuring. The only bad thing that comes with this are bugs. There's bugs everywhere, open the camera app and focus somewhere and wait a few seconds, the "Auto" mode indicator will quickly flash itself. NFC Beaming isn't supported by the CM Gallery (it crashes), and it's all little nuisances. Yes, custom ROMs are notorious for bugs, and yes, it is annoying to sometimes have to miss out on a few features because of this, but at the end of the day, developers are more attentive to the people using the ROMs, and fixes usually come much, much quicker than say Samsung or HTC. And you get versions of Android much faster than both of these companies, too.
Also, CM has been notorious for having some crappy battery life, but this time, it is not the case. battery life is the same, or better than my iPhone 5S, which I consider to be the most battery efficient you can buy, and the best battery in any phone; the battery may be tiny, but the software is very tuned.
Screen: 5/10 (See below)
It's 5.5 Inches, 1080p, fairly pixel dense, not much else to say here. Color representation is fairly accurate, although it is a bit warm and saturated, but warm and saturated is nice. And yes, whites do look yellow at the bottom of the display. Regardless of what One Plus says, this should definitely not be like that, but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt...except panels are plagues with problems; see here:

The sad thing is that I can literally go back and write the entire review about all the problems that not only I have encountered but many other have encountered with their devices. I myself have a yellow tint and a line of slow pixels running vertically through the display, that almost looks like the actual LCD is scratched. (see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkMKx46Cvp4 and the images below). Yellow tint is a problem, not a huge deal to me, yes I would love for One Plus to exchange my device for a working one, but it's not like I'm going to die if they don't; what is going to kill me is that damn line running through the screen. Every time I take a picture it's there, every time I watch a movie or a vine or a video, it's there, and it's extremely annoying.

Customer Service: -1/10 (See below)
I don't think I've ever given given a negative rating for anything...ever, but wow One Plus, you definitely earned this one!
I'm actually going to quote myself (dat ego):
Scirca said:
The only problem with this thread is that yes, while other, more expensive phones were susceptible to the same problem as the OPO, regarding the yellow tint, the difference is that in most of the threads, the people talk about how their devices were replaced with functioning devices by their respective manufacturers. A screen is the most important part of the phone, and it's extremely childish for a company to be calling certain defects in their panels a "normal occurrence". Seriously? Normal in the sense it happens often, not normal in the sense that the screen is working in the way that it is intended to. BTW, not only am I referring to yellow screens, but to your pixel anomalies. The customer service has seriously been the only bad thing I can find with the phone, which is extremely infuriating, since it's an optimal part of the phone, and various companies with sub-par phones (*cough* Apple *cough*) has prided themselves in customer service and iPhones have been and will continue selling like hotcakes, I mean ffs my iPhone 5S was once replaced by them just because the screen was slightly elevated from the body.
Shame on you One Plus for making such a great phone but having no regard not only for your prospective customers, but your current customers as well.

One Plus, there is nothing wrong with your device, absolutely nothing wrong with your device, it's a great phone, the One is possibly the greatest flagship money can buy right now. Your customer service is just a shame, a terrible, terrible shame. So many people have so many issues and all you keep doing is making excuses, calling things normal, and just outright ignoring others. My open ticket has spent a few days now, without a reply. You refuse to replace some devices, and when you do, you aren't very straightforward about it, and love to charge people outrageous charges just to take the device back. I mean seriously, $56 plus shipping just so that someone can send you back a phone (which btw is still in the 14-day return window) is absolutely wrong and is in no way a consumer-friendly policy. Like many have said before, your slogan has been "Never Settle", yet you want us to settle with defective phone. Don't believe me? Believe them:

And trust me, there are many, many more posts and threads that have been merged or hidden. The thing that most people need to understand is that the phone is fine, every phone will have defects, regardless of the manufacturer, what counts is how the manufacturer deals with those defects. If they deal with transparency and with a willingness to help out the customer, they will do very good in the future. If they hide things and deny things and don't care about their customers or warranties or anything, shame on them.
Conclusion:
Do I recommend this phone? At the moment, no, not until One Plus stands up for their mistakes and starts treating their customer and prospective customers like real customers, not trash. I've gone from desperately wanting the One to desperately trying to get an RMA . If that doesn't work I wouldn't mind selling my device or trading it for a G3, because while yes, I'll have to settle for a few things with the G3, at least LG won't make me settle for crappy customer service.
If you receive an invite, think twice about purchasing the phone, because while you may be lucky and your device won't suffer from any issues, you may very well be unlucky and suffer one of the many issues the device is plagued with. Just be careful, and remember that the choice is always yours.
One Plus, you've stood behind your device for being great, and it is, but if you're not standing behind it enough to honor your warranty and the manufacturing issues you've had with your devices, then you're basically not standing behind it at all. We all $350 that we paid for, we want devices free of defects, we want real transparency. If this is too much to ask, not only as a phone manufacturer, but as a company, you will not get very far.
thanks, but there is a thread here for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2685348
Besides my Turbo I also have a company provided IPhone5s so I decided to do a real world side by side comparison. Here is the setting: my truck is parked about 250' away from stop sign, I held each phone with both hands resting on the steering wheel. Both phones have all settings on AUTO the crossroad has a speed limit of 50 mph and no stoplights nearby so I am fairly certain the vehicles crossing in front of me are doing no less than 50 mph. My purpose is to catch the vehicles as close to the center of intersection as I possibly can, I took the Turbo pictures first and made every possible effort to capture the best picture possible with both phones. Observation: the shutter SOUND on the Iphone was instant, shutter SOUND on Turbo had an estimated full second delay. Look at the pictures and draw your own conclusions.

So while the shutter sound was delayed, it did not matter?
The Droid got the job done while the iPhone did not.
Which pics are which?

The Turbo has what looks like a simulated gray shutter closing when you take picture, when that happened the picture was captured, the sound followed the visual cue.

The first 3 are the Turbo, the last 3 Iphone, if you hold the mouse over the pictures it identifies them, they can also be enlarged.
Ummm... Congrats?
It seems like you had HDR on with the Turbo

He used default settings.
HDR on auto is one of them.
I have read here and other places what a dreadful camera the Turbo has, specially the inability to focus on moving objects and how slow it was to capture an image. I didn't want to dismiss the many stated comments about how awful the camera is. I also did not want to just simply say how I feel about the camera, to me it's a great camera for a phone. I did a heads up comparison between a camera praised often for being superior to the Turbo's and the Turbo camera consistently focused clearly on a fast moving object, the IPhone failed to catch a single vehicle in the focal area. I don't expect to sway the one's that hate the camera one bit, I simply presented evidence, proof of what the Turbo camera CAN do; not an opinion. WE all like here to look at pictures to prove a point... I gave you pictures.

Yeah that missing detail is really crisp.
Its so sharp I cannot see the cars!
I like the camera on the turbo, can't understand how anyone could argue the results of your test

Steve I did my best to present visual evidence and leave my own personal opinion out as best I could, I didn't know what the outcome would be and I would have presented results even if the Turbo had crapped out. I wanted to address focus and shutter speed on moving objects. The following IS an opinion: the camera is only as good as the hands holding it, even the world's best camera can take a bad picture in the wrong hands. The pictures the IPhone took were considerably darker than actual surroundings, the sky was NOT the darker blue in the picture and of course the obvious: no vehicles are present in the IPhone pictures, if you look hard enough to the right in one picture you will see the car I was trying to capture.
If you have a ceiling fan in your house or office, do the same test on the fan, well lit, low speed.
I've been doing that with the DT and whatever other phones I can lay hands on, none of them that
are built into a phone do very well. My observations that given some light and distance, the DT can
do OK with movement, but lack of light and/or up close action it's lacking. It isn't an accident that they
are putting dual flashes and ring flashes and such on cameras, the $2 sensor and lack of lens is really hurting.

You realize its the same camera that the Z3 has, right?
For a phone camera, it is pretty good. As for the ceiling fan, that is a rather silly test considering typical shots a phone will take arent that fast. Everyone can agree that there are a few aoftware quips that need to be fixed, but lets stop moving goal posts when someone defies a complaint, yeah? It's never going to be as fast as a DSLR or even a point and shoot.
I don't care if it's Genghis Khan's own Point-N-Shoot, it's deficient in a number of areas.
Like anything moving that isn't 20 yards away or in direct sunlight, or a christmas tree.
Nor am I alone. And that fake DSLR soft focus BS isn't fooling me either.
When conditions are favorable to the DT's camera strengths, it takes very nice photos, better
than my S4 for example, the rub is the S4 took better photos most of the time because it's
range of acceptable conditions was wider. There are a hoard of people with kids and dogs
which are frequently in motion that are not pleased with the basically useless camera in those
situations.

Here are some pictures of my baby girl, she posed in one; all the others she was moving and yes I can take a bad picture I'm man enough to admit it. I just think "basically useless" is a bit harsh. Merry Christmas.
Great looking dog! Your pics perfectly illustrate the performance I've observed, well lit, white background to reflect available light, mostly static subject, GREAT pics.
That last one with the blurry head, typical for less than great light or up close movement.

the grass is always greener.. if you read through some of those post you will come to the one where the guy with the Note 4 says he has similar results with what everyone praises as the one of the best cameras.. My DT could take some crappy shots as well as some amazing ones, and so can my wife's iPhone 5s.. I agree with an earlier comment.. I would say the overwhelming factor in getting good pics from any phone... is the user..
I now have the N6 and the story is the same.. some pics are trash some are great.., i take pics with that knowledge therefore I don't get as disappointed as I used to.

I think that the camera operator has much to do with the quality of pictures that come of the camera phone itself. This applies to non-phone cameras too.
