SM-G900P with SM-G900F Mainboard - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I bought an SM-G900P on eBay. I realised to late that all european SIM cards are blocked by bootloader (?). In the end it was impossible for me to find a way unlock the phone. Is th ere a way by changing the mainboard to fix the problem?
beste regard, sufenta

my Apologies for a late reply.
Slow down..... Relax.....You can fix it.
OK, I have done these on my S5's. A sort of, YES... If you have never taken one of these apart , do all the searching you can. Some steps in taking these apart, Can be a real pain, so if you break it, you will need to replace it (e.g. Screen braking/cracking)
I didn't really get which one you need- 900F or 900F. You can get dam near any and all parts needed to actually build one.
With all that said, you need to get the actual information as to which one you need .
After all that .... Head over to Ebay.com and get to cell phone parts! Bam, lots to choose from. get what you actually need for your carrier.
Rebuild the phone. Insert Battery (hopefully, you have charged it prior to taking it apart)! See note below . Start Phone. Done!!
In short> After rebuild- Flash the latest Stock Firmware. Reboot. Profit.
*** NOTE ***
A MUST > > > > OK, Prior to doing all this work, You need to get the Stock Firmware. ( Sammobile.com )! Plus, you need Odin. ( Tink it is Odin13 at time of writing) and yes you need the USB Cable and a Computer. Basically, you need to Flash, the Stock Firmware once it has been rebuilt. If you need help or guidance, search the threads for Galaxy S5. it is all there. You can PM me, and I guide you to all that is needed.
Note 2- You might end up, with the wrong parts. Go back and read through Ebay - ( You got something, that was advertised for your needs, and it really is for something else , They can/will refund you $$ !!! (Just Saying, been there, Done that ! )
Hope this helps you.

Most ridiculous issue ever - please advise.

Okay so - recently my I9000m went into a boot loop (during normal use - though I did have voodoo installed) and I can not access recovery mode. I could however access download mode.
I attempted to install stock firmware from samfirmware - no luck.
I attempted to install stock firmware from the forums - no luck.
I attempted to install EZBase - no luck.
I even attempted to use Virniks 'stock everything' tutorial - no luck.
After all these attempt and various other attempts involving 3 button fixes I was still having boot-loops.
So I got desperate - and I installed the Odin One Click for captivate - I know...bad idea but like I said.. I was desperate.
Now my i9000m (bell canada) starts up with the AT&T Logo and then boot loops!
The worst part is I can't even access download mode anymore! I understand that this is probably due to the fact that the buttons are remapped - keeping that in mind I tried as many key combos as I could but still get nothing but the AT&T Logo looping over and over.
So to the point.. does anyone have a surefire way to get to captivate download mode on a I9000M?
I've read about the JIG solution but I'll use that as a last resort as I would have to order the pieces (I'm not much of a solderer).
So are there any non-JIG solutions to get back to download mode/restore my phone?
All input is appreciated and I'd like to thank everyone that has tried to help me these last couple of days!
Sounds like your internal SD card is dead.
I was having similar issues where the phone would just bootloop. I re-flashed 4-5 different stock roms which all did the same thing. One of the stock roms allowed me into recovery mode, which yielded no success only a no sd card message.
I have gone ahead and sent my phone out to Bell for repair.

I'm thinking of doing the same (bringing it to bell) though I'm not sure they'll honor the warranty with it booting up with the AT&T logo, hah :<
Yeah i dont think they would service that, i was fortunate enough to get back a stock i9000m rom so it still boot up with that.
You can try contacting samsung directly to see if they will be able to repair for you, or try the jig and re-flash to stock bell rom

Called samsung last night - they said I have to bring it to bell first.
Worst case scenario I'll pay sammy to fix it =/
Update: Just got off the phone with Bell, described my problem, said that I messed with the software real hard and they said that as long as I didn't remove any warranty stickers I'll still be able to get it fixed by samsung foh freeee.

I have urgued him to flash any SGS firmware with recovery image, but he didn't listen.
And yes, I think that his internal storage bus is dead.
If so, he should write down IMEI of his phone, and send email to the Samsung Korea with the info, that his internal SD card is dead. They will send him brand new phone.
But in the case he would rather use warranty service of his provider, he will need to:
a) try reboot with adb, and fastest as he can, try to issue "reboot download" command with it
OR
b) make JIG, and reboot to download mode, and reflash stock ROM
Asking Samsung Korea for new phone with IMEI sent to them do not require any of above...
EDIT: I have missed your last reply. Good to know, that Bell will fix it for you. But I do not think that they will be able to fix it. They will more likely give you new phone.

I did listen - no matter how many times I tried to flash the sgs firmware w/ recovery image it would just keep booting and wouldn't enable the functionality.
As i detailed above I tried several recommended methods to re-enable the recovery mode and none of them worked.
Thanks for your help - hopefully Bell honors what they said on the phone.

OK. Just do not panic :-D
You will get your phone back, more likely new one.
And on other hand, this result is not your fault. Some "first-line" SGS phone models has been faulty. You are not the first one with such problem.

They said they would send it to Samsung and give me a loaner until mine is back.
Not sure if they'll still honor it when I show up in person...but I'm hoping for the best.
So to give a final update:
After a couple commutes back and forth to the Bell store and a couple phone calls to Samsung it looks like I voided the warranty and I'm SOL on getting this phone repaired.
The (semi)bright side of the story is that I have an insurance policy with Bell and I'm getting a brand new SGS for $150.

Little too much for a few hours of your time. If you'd reflashed stock ROM and ignored vibrant fw, as I've suggested, they would have no chance to find out what happened, and you've been given new phone for free. But you were in a hurry. Besides, your second, but in the circumstances of your haste not important misstake was, that you've told them what you have done.

Exactly what I thought...you gave them extremely obvious reasons to put you at fault when you could have easily gotten a free replacement out of this. Don't answer questions that aren't asked
My father's I9000M had a failed SD and I got it replaced for free. Ironically his had a single ROM flashed on it and mine has had over 100 and been 100% fine.

Btw, it does not matter how many times you'll reflash, this sd bus failure is pretty common in some first series of GT-9000 and GT-9000M

My BELL phone started up with an AT&T logo... even if I didn't volunteer the information they would have figured it out and sent me the bill.
As soon as they determine it is off warranty Samsung charges $35 dollars just to evaluate the problem and then charges you to fix it.
Yes I should have just brought it back when it first messed up but I figured my warranty was already voided due to the voodoo installation that I could not reverse (due to the boot loops).
Lesson learned.. probably won't tweak my phone too much in the future...especially if (like my last phone) I can't get into recovery mode - though I'm hoping this is fixed in the new phone I get.

The lesson you should've learn is to READ before you attempt anything.
I've flashed about anything to this phone and it's pretty hard to really brick the thing... Flashing the rom from a captivate is realy not in the line of "tweaking" rather than no-sens what so ever...

Right, it should be enought to use common sense, and think a little before any further action. I have tried almost anything, starting with dualboot to xubuntu linux, or editing apk's, modding and themming apps (not always successful), erasing all data partitions, created new ones, installed (or at least tried) to install gentoo linux with simple routing capability, and so on. And I'm still here.
Truth is, that some first lines of SGS were affected with faulty sd bus. But there is no need for paying warranty service, and no need to be few days without my phone. If common sense is used, then User would not:
1) install captivate firmware
2) flash anything before cwm is working
if both above fails, he'll reboot to the download mode, flashed canadian or any other fw containing Sbl.bin, alias recovery.
After that, he would flash standard stock firmware which is used by his operator. As a last thing, he would wipe sdcard from recovery.
Phone will look, behave and WILL BE same as he'd bought it.
So they will look on it, and will see standard, untouched phone, which is unknowingly rebooting itself.
Voila! They'll have no other chance then give you brand new phone right on the spot.
So for the next time, keep your mouth shut at least, when you deal with operator ;-)

I wish people would read the entire thread before posting more bs like this.
Trying to put the captivate software on my phone via Odin One Click was the 10th or so thing I tried to do to restore my phone. Nothing would work - recovery mode did not work on my phone nor was I able to restore it.
Flashing the captivate software was an attempt to get recovery working (a desperate attempt) and had nothing to do with my comment about tweaking.
diaf.
I know there is nothing you can do but out is bs that you' voided' warranty. they make you pay $150 for THEIR hardware failure.

Ordered G2, Clarification needed: Root, Flashing, Unroot. Oh, and battery :)

Okay, i apologize but i ordered this device after having tested my friend's LG g2 device running stock. From a Nexus 4 , i find this is a big upgrade. ESPECIALLY THE BATTERY!
1.when I root a device and flash custom recovery, can you unroot the phone all the way back to STOCK erasing all traces that you've flashed / tampered with your device?
2.I'm a bit confused, i see d801/d802/d803, this makes me very confused, all i see are american providers listed, what does this mean for people living in europe? In my case, more specificially, Austria(also with provider)? This leaves me a bit worried and confused because i ordered it on contract - what does this mean for me? Would I still be able to flash my phone without a problem?
3. Flashing: What is flashing like in this device? Good ol' nexus 4 style
wipe data factory reset
wipe cache/dalvik - flash rom + gapps?
Or like the htc one x (fastboot erase cache... bla bla bla)
4. Has this phone come with any particular problems or is there something i should look out for when i recieve my phone? if yes ? What?
5. Firmware: As i've mentioned above i've got a provider, can i turn my smartphone to a sim free version of the phone or is this not doable?i.e: can you switch between firmwares without a problem?
6. And finally, how easily can you replace the battery on this baby? I've seen a youtube video of a person disassembling the back cover, however, he sadly didn't remove the battery like i had hoped he would do. The back cover at least seems easy to take off, so i'm relieved.
Thanks for taking your time to read and answer my question, i'm really looking forward to this device, it's gorgeous. To me the nexus 5 would have won if it were not for it's horrible battery. In fact, maybe not, this lg g2 device offers SO much without a stock rom and that's something to respect, and knowing that i'll be able to flash google's STOCK rom without a problem would make me be able to experience the best of both worlds.
I wish you all a happy new year
Thanks in advance
Hi,
1. Yes, look in the general forum.
2. It exist different models, for europe you will get the D802.
3. Just Data/Cache/Dalvik for the most roms.
4. Don´t know, same with other phones
5. I didnt research about this, but i think it´s not easy to replace the battery.

[Q] KitKat on a rooted Note 3.

Hi Guys,
First, I beg of you not to say RTFM on similar questions here regarding this. I have read them, and read them in their entirety. The problem I have is that none of them list how to get me though my issues on my Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A.
My problem is that I (as many others) really want to upgrade to the Kit Kat OTA released from AT&T a week or so ago. The thing is, I did root my device and as everyone know's this fails any OTA updates.
My question is two fold, but first I would like to explain that I rooted my device NOT for being able to install any custom ROM's. In fact I never had an interest in doing so as I actually like the stock OS's which right now I am still running 4.3. I rooted it specifically to be able to run network / packet sniffers on my own home network as a method to learn a little more about how things go over a network, seeing what I can learn and see if I can find any vulnerabilities. I also used it to try and clean bloat ware and other programs that with out root I can not uninstall or use, such as certain fast reboot apps. So, I really had no intention of using the Root to get me a custom ROM, as I wouldn't even know where to begin.
So my questions are this. Is there anyway that I can "un do" the root in order to let the device act as if it were never rooted? Or, is there anyway to force the OTA regardless of the device being rooted. My biggest fear is losing all the apps and files that I have on my device and I have never been able to get any kind of back up app to work, especially to restore anything from them.
I had read that one can use ODIN to flash the Kit Kat ROM, but while I have installed ODIN on my laptop, I am clueless on how to use it. I tried everything, but even with the USB drivers installed and working (I know this because plugged into the USB port, I am able to browse all the files on my device, yet ODIN continues to tell me that no device has been found.
Can someone please help me to understand what I need to do? Again, I don't care if I lose Root, I care that I don't lose all the stuff I spent months installing and getting my device where I want it. I really need someone to explain somethings to me as if I were a two year old, with out scalding me and making me feel like a complete idiot. I came here because everyone I have talked to told me that you guys would be the ones that could help me, and if you can't, then I am screwed and will have to just wipe the entire device and I just can't do that. I may wind up having to buy a new device and just transfer over what ever I can, however, in the mean time that is not an option.
To this end, I come begging for some serious help since I know you guys are the literal gods of Androids. If I must take some kind of custom ROM in order to get Kit Kat, I am somewhat willing, but I do not fully understand or know what ROM I would want to install as I have never in my life seen a custom ROM and what the benefits of having one are which is kind of why I really want to stick with the stock ROM and just keep getting the updates via OTA.
I have all the faith in the world you guys can help, I just don't know if anyone is willing to help since I know similar questions have been asked, but I do not know how to use what I learned for my particular device.
Thanks very much.

Hi antique_sonic, I would just like to clarify a couple things as well as answer your questions.
>does ur kies run? if so turn it off. <--- If you mean is it installed on my laptop and work? Yes it is, and yes it does, however, I almost never use it. Mainly because I was told that once you root a Samsung Device, Kies is no longer able to be used.
>USB debugging off? turn it on. <--- It is and has been turned on in an effort to try to sideload KitKat, but that was a hug fail. But I will leave it on for this discussion.
>are u in download mode of ur phone? <---- I have gotten here before but don't exactly know what to do once I am there since I don't know where to get a Kit Kat ROM, where to put it once I have it, or how to use anything in d/l mode.
> if not, switch off n wait till vibrate to make it really off. then press vol down + home + power. then follow instructions to press vol up once u inside warning screen. after that u can plug in ur phone. <--- Are these instructions for wiping the device back to the factory default? Will I lose everything currently installed and loaded on my Note 3? Or does this some how fix / allow for the OTA update to install completely because it no longer can tell the device is rooted?
Again, I must apologize because this is so greek to me.I am just trying to understand at this point what infact the instructions you gave me do, and what they are intended for. Is this just to get the USB drives to work properly? Or is this something that will help me undo root so that I would be able to install KitKat via the AT&T OTA. If now the latter, where I can I get a complete Kit Kat ROM and use ODIN to flash the ROM? This outcome would suck because I believe that this will cause me to lose everything on my device I worked so hard to get where I wanted. I have just over looked the fact that in rooting my device I there by killed my ability to keep my device updated with the latest OTA releases / patches.
Again, I appreciate you reply, but sadly I am in need of a bit more info if you could please.
Thank you so very much. I hope one day to be able to pay it forward, passing along the knowledge you have shared with me,
Regards,
EU

do check, is it running in background ? check your task manager. if so, kill the process. Kies should not run together with ODIN. Otherwise sometimes will give problem to your ODIN process.
I normally only install the USB driver only, as this is the only thing needed to connect your phone to comp (as MTP, or as ODIN connection).

ok, in a very simple word. download mode is basically a state whereby your phone is ready to download system files and install the system files on your device.
This is the only state possible to get a connection to your ODIN PC to flash stock firmware, recovery (in .tar/.md5 format).
How to get the KK ROM ?
1) identify your device. which model it is. N9005? N900T? N900A? N900 blablabla?
2) goto samfirmware.com (register there if you don't have account. it is free). after that you can just find your firmware by typing on the search device textbox your device model (e.g N9005), and it will come out the list of your device firmware (normally they will show for the latest firmware list)
3) choose the firmware that you want to download (if your device N9005 international 32 gb, try to avoid the Hongkong / Taiwan firmware, as they have different PIT partition).
4) once you have the downloaded zip file from samfirmware, extract the zip, and then you will get the (.tar/.md5) file. Now you can use to flash this one over ODIN.

no. no. no.
This is how to go into download mode in your device
Not yet talking about factory reset.
But yes, you have to backup your internal storage, as sometimes upgrading will cost you to do factory reset, and your internal storage will be gone.

I have just over looked the fact that in rooting my device I there by killed my ability to keep my device updated with the latest OTA releases / patches.

up to this point, I just remembered that you have N900A (AT&T) version. hahaha.
I go check the samfirmware, no release of KK yet at the samfirmware.
I'm sorry, I own N9005, and I never explore too much on the N900A, so I won't know what is the latest release, and where to get it other from samfirmware.

Again, I appreciate you reply, but sadly I am in need of a bit more info if you could please.
Thank you so very much. I hope one day to be able to pay it forward, passing along the knowledge you have shared with me,

no problem. you just get your latest firmware first, once you have it, you let me know, i can give you step by step in detail, on how to flash to your device.

Sure sure, just laugh at me why don't ya!! LOL I will continue to try to find the appropriate firmware. I guess if I learned one valuable lesson in all this, it is just don't root your device if you don't plan on using custom ROM's. I had no idea that there would be no way to "unroot" your device once it's rooted. I was really hoping that you could just undo what ever is done to actually root the device, this way the OTA's will just start working again. Or that there would be a way to just force the OTA regardless of whether the device is rooted. I am not sure I truly understand why the OTA just won't install just because the device is rooted.I mean sure it adds SU to the device, and unlocks (I think) the boot partition or the boot loader, which ever, but regardless, why should the OTA package care and fail to install just because of that change?
Anyway, that's probably a discussion for another thread. I actually did find a Kit Kat zip that is like 150MB's it has a boot.img inside the zip, but it has nothing with an extension that ODIN can recognize. I would love to show you the zip, but it's too large to attach or email. The file name is 2400258.zip, but I forgot where I downloaded it from. It may be what I need to do the job, but with out someone seeing the zip I have no way of knowing if it's the files I need. I was not about to find any files with in it that are in txt readable format for me to say exactly what it is. It does have subfolders names Google and Android and the like but I am sure that is pretty useless with out seeing the full zip.
I will keep my eye on this thread and when I find something I can work with, or if you guys find anything I can work with I will come back and see where we can go next.
Thanks again bud!

Hey antique_sonic, no offence taken my friend, I am a giant goof ball, but I am also someone who doesn't mind working out my own problems. It's just sometimes with things like this where I am clueless and need a little hand holding. It's nice to know that there are people like you around to help out the dopes like me My apologies for not getting back to you sooner, and I will be looking into the link you sent tonight. I haven't been feeling well lately, I have two herniated disks in my back and I have End Stage Liver disease and I am only 39, so I sometimes get a bit under the weather and am down for the count for a few days. So I do appreciate your patience with me and all the help and direction you are giving me. I try never to abuse the help as that is no way to learn, and learning is actually one of favorite hobbies! Weird huh.... So, I am off to go read the link you provided me and update the stock on my website and hope I make some more sales so I can get some money to buy a new phone when I brick this one! LMAO! Thanks again Sonic, I really appreciate everything!

Once again, u r welcome mate.

A2017 need help, please.

Good day to all. I know this question has been asked many times and I might frustrate some or many of you. Please accept my apology first and foremost.
Do allow me to tell you my side of the story. I bought a A2017 from AliExpress. I specifically told the seller to leave it stock as I want OTA and future support. By saying this, I am not condemning the Root Community or implying the mod ROM is any way inferior to stock. I believe and trust that the modded ROM is definitely a level or many level better than stock ROM.
Back to my plight, I knew changing imei is taboo here in this wonderful community. I agree and standby to the rules. But the joker seller not only flash my A2017 with A2017G ROM (to which I do not mind having) but that means I am losing the updates either over OTA or SD card upgrade (because his is not stock ROM); and more importantly I am definitely losing the security patches presently available or coming in future.
Now I have a wonderful A2017 which I like a lot, with an non-OTA A2017G ROM and a messed up IMEI. The IMEI as it is programmed is not invalid, but the 2 IMEI IDs found within my phone are identical. More excitingly, the protective sticker that came with the phone have 2 seperate IMEI for each SIM slot, and the box that they shipped to me contains another 2 separate IMEI. So in total I have 5 IMEI numbers!
To all the masters and gurus her, i really appreciate if you can kindly help me out. I would like to know the following:-
First, is it possible for me to fix my IMEI (to repair them exactly to what's with reference to the protective sticker that came on the back of the phone)?
Second, I do not know the term used within the community, but I would like to install the latest stock A2017G ROM into the phone on its base. Meaning if by chance I need to hard reset the phone in future, the one that comes up as base will be the latest ROM I were to install them today.
Third, and yes, among the all the works involved for first and second queries, I would like to know if there's a chance for me to lock everything done and to make the phone as if it is stock? Unroot back to normal if rooting is mandatory for above reworks.
Last but not least, I know the works involve may be tedious and very long winded and maybe highly likely offending one to type out all the procedures. I really thank you for your attention.
If the procedures is really long for you to type out, perhaps you can let me know in point forms and follow up with link. That's will definitely help me to understand step by step in fixing my phone. Also if there's any particular software to be used, perhaps the workable and stable name and version stated will be much appreciated.
Thank you all once again for your time.
P/S: The information on the web is so overwhelming that I lost in the sea of information. I honestly do not know and how to start but to come into the safe zone, the XDA family to seek guidance from.
Again changing IMEI is taboo here, but I am force to correct the issues one created on me, and not that I am doing it to get away with laws or anything. I just want a normal working phone that will behave normally.
Thank you again.
Best regards,
BoyA2017
Edit:
Or can any gurus here advise me the point below in steps. I will try to figure it out from here after.
1. Root (heard using Axon7ToolKit will be relatively user friendly).
2. Fix IMEI (I'll try to find my way around for this).
3. Place the G Nougat bootstack (This has something to do with TWRP?).
4. Backup (not sure if this will backup my IMEI).
5. Unroot (I would assume Axon7Toolkit should able to do this).
Is the above steps will work for my case or I should reshuffle the steps a little?
Please advise.
Cheers.

Hey I'm in the same situation as you , I bought an Axon A2017 from a chinese seller who flashes a A2017g ROM in order to get Google services and play store to work properly but I think he ruined the device as it will not OTA update anymore and that's kinda of frustrating as you will remain stuck with that android 6.0.1 version , therefore no daydream compatibility and that's the main reason I bought this phone. Wish that an A2017 user show us a simple way to get that OTA to work and get the latest firmware and security patches applied.

There are plenty of guides for what you want to do, just search on the Q&A thread. As of him, not that easy... I guess going back to stock A2017 is the first thing to do anyways.
In short: Download an official stock A2017 7.1.1 zip, verify that the zip you downloaded doesn't have another zip inside called update.zip (in that case you have to extract the update.zip) (if you open the zip you downloaded and find a bunch of files then you can use it directly), put it in the root of the internal storage, go to Settings then Updates and install it. If you don't have the Updates option you'll need an SD card: put the file there, turn the phone off, hold Power + volume UP, you'll boot to recovery, select Apply update from SD card (or, if your recovery is in Chinese, the option that says sd), select the zip file, press power to confirm, confirm installation

Choose an username... guides will fit you perfectly. You may find it a little hassle on the recovery mode. What I found out is, you have to hold (volume up + power) button until you come to a colorful MiFavor screen with lots of Chinese wording. At this point of time, you can release the volume up button, BUT keep power button pressed. Once you let go of power button, it will reboot itself. While pressing the power button, you can toggle the up down with volume buttons. Until you come to something with 'SD' then u release the power button. Your phone should update itself. After update complete, please remove the SD card or to delete the update.zip from the SD card. Else if will continuously detecting the file within your SD as an update.
For the reboot after releasing the power button in recovery mode may only applicable to my A7, not sure if this is across the board. Many A7 here are experiencing their own issues but majority of them works as mentioned. Maybe mine is just a little abnormal.
Hope you can fix your phone right and enjoy your A7.
Cheers.

Advice on rooting my phone

Most likely this will have been asked many times, and I have done my own research already, but somehow I still feel uneasy about the whole process.
I've read this thread through and through and have even downloaded the appropriate zip file, but the ever-present risk of bricking my phone is holding me back.
What contingencies can I put in place in case this all goes horribly wrong and I brick my phone and what can I do to give me the best chances of success?
Thanks in advance

Just out of curiosity, which model note 4 do you have?
To answer your question though, there's very little chance of actually hard bricking your phone. Usually the worst case scenario is that you'll have to factory reset and lose your data and your internal sdcard data.
Just be certain that you have the correct firmware for your device that way things go sideways on you you'll be able to get back to a stock rom.

I was always scared about flashing mine too, I'll offer a couple things I did to make me feel a little easier.
1. (Correct software) Make sure you have the right software packages for your phone N910P/G/N/V...whatever, usually the first page has links to everything you'll need.
2. (Clean/Organize a little) Before you go to backup your current phone setup thin it out, delete any apps you wouldn't want on a new phone is the way I look at it. Move any pictures, Files, Music, anything you wouldn't want to lose off your internal storage (just in case)
3. (Create nandroid/backup, and store in a cool dry safe place) Assuming you're using TWRP recovery there is an option to back up your system, Data and Boot partitions (files). I believe those 3 are selected by default. I'd also recommend selecting EFS (that is the part that has all your phone's radio information in it so should you lose your network you can install that and get it back.
4. (Flash away) Make you do a clean flash the first which involves wiping everything most ROM's have good instructions on their first post.
5. ( Any problems boot into TWRP and flash your back ups) If you have the above backed up on an external SD card send a copy to Dropbox, Google Drive, i Cloud, your own computer, anywhere and everywhere you know it won't get lost, This file is a snapshot of your phone right now, treat it like gold. So if you nerf it up, install the recovery file you made and it'll be exactly like it was before.
I hope this helps ease your concerns a little, I've only been playing for a little while myself so I thought hearing from someone in a similar position would help.
Also if you run into problems always post your issue here, there are a lot of people with a wealth of knowledge willing to help here.
Good luck, most of all have fun!!
