X10 MTK2502 vxp watch face extraction,decompile - Other SmartWatches

Just got an x10 from china. Massively disappointed Merdatek is reinforcing my opinion of them - closed sources and all.
Probably been asked before but I'm at my search skill's and wit's end trying to find out how to extract watchfaces from it and trying to decompile that mogwai crap mediadreck calls a runtime.
Any further tips like a better firmware are appreciated, this one came with C5_X10_WATCH4_128_T6_L2_G10_B_1710251423 (25th oct 17; 14:23)

picking cheap watches for development

Hello all.
Recently looking at all those innovative cheap non-chinese smartwatches I've got an obsession on picking ones for some random development.
How about we gather some little info on devices ready for custom upgrades and firmwares. Certainly this doesn't include android wear devices as they are ready for development.
Almost all cheap smartwatches do not allow installation of custom apps and some can't even show the time without being connected with your phone!
But some of them allow firmware upgrading/flashing... So I'm looking for any device having some native sdk or compatible with arduino toolkit or anything else.
1. A perfect example of what am I looking for is sony smartwatch mn2. They already have:
- open smartwatch project with it's ported arduino toolkit
- star wars game on mn2
I would probably pick those but they're pretty old and lack some sensors.
2. The second one is weloop tommy. (suggested by qkall and raicg)
These have a huge standby time (I guess more than the first pebble), waterproof but they have accelerometer inside only and no touchscreen. I guess the price is huge comparing to others.
Still there is an opensource project around with a custom firmware.
As I understand a huge work is done and the device was carefully examined and all that pin-out stuff was collected to make it working and you're pretty ready to go with development of your own features.
My next possible targets are mt2502 based watches as there are some stuff (mediatek linkit) around on mediatek site.
I'm unsure if this sdk will allow to do something with randomly picked mt2502 watches.
So I'm interested in any info if someone tried this or had any other success on development/moding of their watches.
Thx.
I feel like I'm being a bit slutty with this today... but the Weloop Tommy might be interesting to you:

They are nice but their price is huge when you think about their hardware.

I didn't mean any watches that have official firmware binaries.
I'm talking about totally customized firmwares, original firmware sources, sdk toolkits for mt6260/2502 soc or arduino toolchain port.
I want to pick some cheap smartwatches like u8/u80/20$-45$ and do some coding.
I wonder if someone who have mt2502 device would check the mediatek sdks on the possibility to build custom firmware (look for mediatek labs linkit one sdk, that SoC has mt2502 cpu and complete IDE).
Also most cheap devices use mt6260 but I didn't find much info about it.
I'm glad that someone answered me and thanks for you replies!
u8 customization
I just received 2 U8's in the mail. I'm keeping one in a new state, but the other is ready for the lab...where do we begin?
Pacman8521
I suggest to you the weloop
The great on weloop smartwatch is the battery time, up to 21 days! And it's waterproof!
One user has a open firmware project of weloop Smartwatch: https://hackaday.io/project/4510-open-source-sportsmart-watch
Take a look, it's open firmware.
I got some infomation about mtk2502
it seems have rtos sdk,I am not sure if we can flash our custom firmware to the target watch

Ticwatch 2 Global Edition

Heads up to those interested.. I think the kickstarter campaign is going to start soon. Looks like it could be pretty decent if the hype is anything to go by.
Hopefully they'll involve communities like this one in their development, it'd certainly help brand awareness!
Edit : In fact they have a pre-launch fb group here - https://m.facebook.com/groups/577584915748399
Edit 2 : Any devs interested in the watch should join, they genuinely seem interested in community participation, so any feedback from you guys would be good.
Early bird offer will apparently be less than $100

Got the Onyx... also cant wait.
Very nice! I was hoping to get a free one for nominating the onyx name, but my hints are falling on deaf ears!
Got an Oak too

Congrats guys, hope it's a step above the rest. It is refreshing to see companies interact with the paying public like that, I know pebble did really well with their campaign, but I'm not sure how open they were to suggestion from the community.
Unfortunately (fortunately) I procured a fenix 3 for my birthday recently and it suits me down to the ground, otherwise I'd have definitely grabbed one of these.
Looking forward to the Onyx to add to my collection: seems to offer a lot of possibilities and upgrades for the smart watch communities...wondering if I'm developing a watch addiction...12 steps here I come................
Does any one know much about the cpu mt2601 I think. It just seems a bit of a backward step to me ?

I pledged for an Onyx and can't wait to get it.... Hopefully they release the code and the XDA Community can make magic happen =)
I've received mine - it's easy enough to get Android APKs and Wear APKs on to it, but it lacks a browser and account manager so many apps will crash out. However, many also work perfectly fine, particularly once you modify the DPI.
It's a lovely watch - the best I've owned, although the Gear S running Android is also very functional in a different (ie fully Android) way.
Rooting is problematic for now - most of the usual apps aren't successful at rooting. Has anyone found a successful process?
No problems with the CPU and it charges quickly wirelessly. All in, a lovely watch.
Question - other than the custom OS features, is it worth more than the £99 Gearbest watches? I'm not sure, but it's certainly stylish.
I'd buy it at £130, but I think that's the price point all good smartwatches should be at.

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime (sm-s820l) /system file possible compatibility with the S5

Hey guys,
I was looking around the system files of my core prime variant sm-s820l VZW USA, and found /system/know your device. Was some videos in there, assuming the ones that help a new user use the phone and understand it, and in the beginning of those it states welcome to using your new Samsung Galaxy S5. Every video that's in that file starts out this way. Everything else about the videos shows exactly the same as the phone I'm currently using. And have for a CPL years now. I really like this phone and I'll be damned if I'm gonna spend a whole lot on a new phone when I don't need to. I know there's gotta be some other ppl out there still using this, now, very cheep still effective entry level smart phone. I've been tweaking and messing around with all sorts of things, mostly through trial and error, trying to get the best out of this device I can. I still have lots to do. Anyways, my question is....does this mean that this device is in all actually a Galaxy S5? Like, did TracFone simply take the S5 and modified the build.prop and added some other mods to make it there own, strap the name "core prime" on it and call it a day? If this is true, I was thinking that there is a whole other world out there in terms of customization/room/kernels now available to users of the TracFone core prime!! With such limited support, it would explain a LOT!!! If needed I can attach a copy if the vids. Would really appreciate it if anyone can shine some light on this!!

W26 Smartwatches

Hi!
Does anyone know if there is any possibility to put another rom or use another app than the official one on these W26 watches?
I'm talking about Lemfo or Iwo W26.
Hardware doesn't look bad but software is awful.
Thanks in advance!
I cant find anything for this watch too. Perhaps we're searching for the wrong terms?

I had mine delivered today (I got it as I'm moving away from Apple). The watch faces included are fairly average and I was hoping to find a good wxp. Unfortunately it doesn't have enough space available to actually install any.
I'd love to see a custom firmware will most of the watch faces removed to allow for the inclusion of others.
EDIT: I'll add that the official Apple Watch bands work with these watches - which is pretty cool
Hi All! First post here... Hey, were you able to get any reasonable measure out of the blood pressure/temperature/heart rate sensor? It seems completely fake to me. It seems to show pseudo random values around some mean. Even the charts you can see they're no more than a bunch of looped animations. It behaves the same if you strap it to a tree branch.
I was wondering maybe I just got a watch with an early or demo firmware version... But every reviewer I found on youtube just seems to play retard ignoring the fact or hiding it one way or another.
Please, could you confirm or deny your own watches's sensors to be fake?
Thanks in advance!

The heart rate sensor does appear to be doing "something" - that is, if I don't have it on my wrist, it doesn't record a heart rate. But comparing the recordings with an apple watch (series 0) the values are not that accurate. The graph that is displayed in the heart rate app is just an animation and doesn't reflect the actual heart rate.
Saying that, I purchased the watch as a cheap replacement - for I'm leaving Apple's ecosystem - but this watch isn't the replacement. I will wear it though as it does have 3 days of battery (if auto wake is off), and I do get notifications from my phone, so it has that.
What I would like is the ability to use a different watch face - but trying to upload custom watch faces all fail with insufficient space. Oh well. Get what you pay for.
EDIT: I've just done a quick test:
1. remove the watch from my wrist and placed it on the desk
2. start the heart rate app
3. observe a heart rate in the high 70s to mid 80s
4. realise that the HR monitor on this watch is BS.
5. accept the fact that the HR monitor on this watch is BS and don't use the watch for HR monitoring.

Hello, Does anyone know how to update the version rom (firmware)? help meeee, I tried some code and MediaTek app, but still can't... help me pls! thanks!!
I guess in life, we get what we pay for.
This watch is a cheap toy. It may resemble an Apple watch in appearance
but functionally it does not even come close. If anything it is a fashion accessory
rather than a functional device. None of the health sensors work. The firmware can never be updated.
Battery life is atrocious. This little device only does three things.
Tell time, give notifications, and oddly, you can make and receive calls.
And it actually does those things very well. But for $30 USD what did I expect?
Yep, sounds just like a $30 toy watch

OPPO Ambassador for the UK (England)

Hi you will have already seem some of these posts, but hopefully mine is a bit different.
I am Glenn aka Lennyuk, I have been around on XDA for a long long time now and used to be heavily involved in the custom rom world. I have been with android since (almost) the very beginning and have owned devices from all the big name players and several of the smaller ones.
By day I am a lawyer but I am also a father, husband, geek, gamer and tech enthusiast. Much to the annoyance of my wife, smart devices are a huge part of my life and I am seeking to use my knowledge, and experience with these devices to share my views on OPPO's products, like I have done previously for other companies in similar programmes and as a copywriter for various tech websites (as a hobby).
Here is a video exploring more about what I think the Ambassador programme will mean, what makes OPPO tick, what's to come from me in the next few weeks and a run down of the key specs of the Find X5 Pro.
If there is anything in particular you want me to look into, do or add to my content then please let me know and I will see what I can do.
Thanks. Hopefully you'll be able to confirm if the UK FX5P will have call recording as standard?
