Hi Guys!
There must be a way to keep the L1 state of WideVine DRM with an unlocked bootloader. It's the only reason why i reverted to complete stock after i rooted the phone 10 minutes after recieving. I want Netflix in full HD because i pay for it and the only reason i can't enjoy it on my phone is that i am using it the way i want to use it....
Hope there is a way... Thank you in advance

It's not without root it's with locked bootloader, no root is not enough
And you can relock bootloader safely only if you're all stock (ROM + recovery)
I relocked, still L3, reran msm tool, still L3...i am convinced once u unlock the bootloader u lose L1 forever.. .maybe some smt mode msm wipe and restore of the modem.. that seems to be key to bypassing simlock and stuff. @Darknightmare....u know anything on this man?

Nope, not forever. When I first got my 6T I unlocked the bootloader and rooted. A few days later I went back to stock and re-locked the bootloader. I just checked using DRM Info and I'm at L1.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted with Magisk without TWRP or any other custom recovery and Netflix seems to still be playing in HD for me. I don't want to pay for the 4K Netflix upgrade though so I don't know if UHD would work or not.

You used the keyword "Seems". It definitely is not HD. Currently there is no way to have HD with Netflix with unlocked bootloader due to losing Widevine L1.

Did you use the MSM tool to go back to stock.
When you guys say stock, you mean back on T-Mobile stock rom? or just factory full rom from OnePlus without root?

my friend said that the OTA updates require locked bootloader, then I would like to lock it again ...
and how this under warranty, also wanted to make everything from factory
Your friend is wrong. You don't need locked bootloader to get OTA.
To get OTA update, you need stock rom and stock recovery, locked or unlocked doesn't matter.
You can also flash the factory stock image without wiping your data (see link in my signature).
If you have root you can use this app to lock and unlock your bootloader: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.segv11.bootunlocker

I guess something is up with your phone physical memory, but it doesn't matter, it really should not affect your warrenty (but the custom rom and recoveries will). Makes zero different to OTA updates either.

Honestly, I don't think they care if you have root either, but that's base on other user feedbacks. It seems LG warrenty is picky about other things and not very good from the feedbacks from what I read actually, but I haven't had first hand experience. But people have sent in rooted devices for repair.
I think just have factory image and stock recovery and stock kernel.
Solution !

Hello friends of the XDA community. I have a Sprint unlocked variant. I'm on T-Mobile, but after September's update, I got sim invalid message. I thought this would be an easy fix to downgrade back to the previous stock Pie Firware. So I went to the Essential website and downloaded the wrong firmware and flashed it, it was open market but I have a Sprint device. Now the device just bootloops every time I try to flash the correct firmware. When I try to flash the correct firmware, it says wiping data and than it starts transfering data and a second after it reboots and bootloops. Am I doomed? Thanks guys.
Open market works fine on Sprint devices. What did you download? Did you unlock your bootloader? Unlock critical?
Thank you so much for you help. I finally got it back up and running.

Maybe essential will release a fix in a few days for the relocked Sprint phones. Otherwise, if you wanted to unlock it yourself so you can run the latest update, see https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77532356&postcount=20 since it sounds like you already have your bootloader unlocked.
Do you mean bootloader or sim in terms of unlocking? Bootloader is fine. I'm sim locked.

With an unlocked bootloader, you can either root and flash sim-unlocked modemst images with dd, or downgrade the bootloader and use it to flash.

I am set to unlock the bootloader after permanently unlocking this phone. I am worried of the warrning that they talk about concerning the warranty. Is there a way to lock the bootloader up before sending it off for warranty to T-Mobile?
You know you can just restore the phone back to stock, and relock the bootloader right?

No, they will never know. I sent phones in that had root, fastbooted all the original firmware and they were fixed and returned to me. Now if you were talking Samsung, that's a different story.

If SGP771 with bootloader unlock NOT ALLOWED, is there still any chance to use LineageOS?
Or this machine must stay with stock ROM?
Thanks a lot!
i would try to unlock it and see what happens. maybe it can be unlocked and then you can install lineageOS...
In this forum, I found a tutorial about even bootloader locked can temp root the Z4 Tablet to backup the YA partition. Can this be used to install twrp then LineageOS at once?
Thanks a lot!

Do not buy any device with locked bootloaders (current Huawei e.g.) if you want root or custom ROMs or permanent debloat.
With SONY devices it could also be a good idea to check if you can backup the TA if you ever want to sell the device in "original" software condition - by that time the chance is high that SONY abandoned the device already.

Hello everyone,
What about if we actually go back to stock Lollipop and attempt to root from there e.g.: Kingo Root?
Thanks,
Jack

How'd you know the new one would allow bootloader unlock?
It's old thread but maybe it will be helpful. If you see "bootloader unlock allowed: no" then check if my xperia protection is enabled. If enabled then do factory reset and disable it, after that (need unlock with Google account after factory reset) my tablet shows "bootloader unlock allowed: yes".

do you have the T-Mobile converted to international phone ?
did you try and update with the Full zip from System Update / Local update ?
Edit: just check my phone is the same as yours playstore not certified and widevine L3
I tried with and without this module just now. I pass safety net, and come up certified in the play store setting my device as a 6T (A10). I'm in LOS 17, but I use this on many devices, should work fine on OOS too for those rooted using Magisk.

You can't revive it. The keys are different for every device, you e wiped yours and without a backup you cannot restore them ever, not even with MSM

so is widevine l3 for always on this device.....and its became normal op6t rather than mclaren ones now...how can i revert back to mclaren rom
No, widevine l3 instead of l1 is what happens when there are no DRM keys on your device. These keys are unique per device. They cannot be restored. Going back to mclarren stock ROM can't fix it, they've been removed and cannot be put back if you don't have backups. Restoring a ROM or flashing a stock ROM is not a backup. Sorry friend! I did this to one of my Sony devices.
---------- Post added at 04:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:20 PM ----------
Sorry I misunderstood you. Yes, your device is now L3 for good.
You'll need to flash a McLaren stock ROM to return your device to normal. It will not fix the DRM issue though.
Further to the above I've just remembered one more thing: OnePlus devices wipe their DRM as soon as you unlock the bootloader. Game over before you even flash anything .

No. Not possible. they're not a simple text file, they're insanely complex and specific to your exact device. You unlocked the bootloader, they are gone.
It isn't an issue. I have 20:20 vision and Netflix at 720p is fine. I only discovered I was on l3 a year after I got the device
