IMEI on the phone - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

As the title says, picked up my 6t from T-Mobile yesterday and the IMEI number is etched into the back just underneath the Designed by OnePlus. Have I missed something here, anyone else have this or am I a bit behind the times? Appreciate the feedback/help.

Wow you are right.
I have TMobile version and have the same thing. Weird

Cool, so do iPhones. Pretty sure my S9 did too.

Is this a T-mobile thing or?

Nope - Mine's an EU Amazon bought one (so totally stock) and it has 2 IMEI on the back.

I had to shine a flashlight (from another phone,LOL) to see the IMEI on my T-Mobile OP6T...................
Otherwise, the IMEI print wasn't visible to me,but, the Designed By OnePlus is,albeit faintly.

yah I just took off the bumper case and shined a flashlight nothing on mine

Cool, seems to be no rhyme or reason so far.
Just curious as to why the difference, otherwise,I doubt it's of any significance one way or the other.

Maybe its color specific maybe only on gloss back not matte black or maybe its date specific when they started it mine was made 10/12/18

My build date & kernel date are the same (October 1,2018) with the build date having an earlier time by approx. 22 minutes.
Good call on the color difference possibly being the other distinguishing feature regarding the IMEI etching. :good:

Got My 2nd G2 Today Without Hinge Issue

Came home today to find that I had received my G2 from the promotion they had last week and turns out this one has a different hinge than my first one.
No biggie, I never thought the first one had that big of an issue but nevertheless I made a video showing the 2 side by side.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBEp432XiBg
^Reuploaded without the shouting.
Well, anit this about a b......

holy sht...I wonder if i can get a replacement if im still under warranty hahah
So you do reckon they have actually resolved the issue now or have you just got one that is tighter than ur 1st one?
Looks like a change in materials!
I still don't see the fuss about the hinge though.
What fusses me more is that I've gone through 3 G2s and each of them had a pixel problem, be it stuck or dead. Had to use a microscopic-ish lens to find them. Lawl.
I am so jealous right now.

Don't be. People have mentioned that even over time, the hinge will get loose again (this is inevitable, all springs give way over time). So be content with what you have if you have a bug-free phone!

Was it a new upgrade or a replacement, when did you get the first one?
First of all, you may want to get yourself a nice camera that can do HD video recording.
Secondly, your second G2 with the tight hinges is exactly how my G2 was when I first got it. It was super tight, no give, and then after a week of use it become really loose but not quite as loose as your first one. Give it time, and I'm pretty confident that your new G2 will call the loose hinge flu. Let's hope not, though.
My G2 has an intermittent touch screen issue. T-Mobile says it's a known issue. This is unacceptable for me. Aný recommendations? Different model, brand ect. Thanks

Are you sure it's not this issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910624? This is a problem inherent with capacitive touchscreens (though some phones may be more susceptible than others depending on design and tolerances).
If not, you might want to try starting a new thread about it instead of trying to get help through one about the hinge (especially if it really is a known issue, others may be able to provide solutions).

No it doesn't, you just don't understand the nuances of capacitive touch sensors. YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT by having solid contact with the metal ring around the outside of the screen.
I've been playing with couple different dummy units at the stores
Like best buy and radio shack. They got no hinge problem at all. But really my wife got a g2 that has the problem but she doesn't say anything at all. me neither. I don't see why the problem would make me go have a replacement though. Unless theres something else. But so far so good

I actually just feel like it's a tighter hinge. If it goes loose or not, I don't know. But according to everyone here , it will loosen with time.

Haha I would have done better recording but I was just recording it through the youtube recording client which is a POS.
And I expect it to loosen but hope it doesn't.

You know what, after playing around with it. It just made me realize how beat up my phone is compared to the one -_- Please disregard haha.
Reuploaded since I should have reviewed the video before uploading.
It's been 3 months of use and the hinge is as tight as it was on the first day. So I don't believe that it will become loss at least not during my duration of owning it.

How do you know if you have a fake S7 Edge, or if it is real??? My new G935f...

i received my s7 edge today, and found some things that are worrying me. first, the writing on the bottom of the back of the phone is barely noticeable, and definitely not readable. second, it states on the box, that it was made in vietnam. i haven't read anywhere of samsung having phone fabricated in vietnam.
on the other hand, everything works perfectly. i downloaded aida64, and it has the sony sensor on the back camera. it is listed as a 935f, and not some other wierd letter. the everything i have tested has worked flawlessly. but i can't get over worrying that the other shoe will fall after it's too late to return.
so i need for those who have a g935f, to let me know if you can easily read the writing at the bottom of the back cover, and if you have one that was fabricated in vietnam, i'd like to know if you have had any problems with it at all. thanks!!!
You can tell if it's fake, Samsung's are made in Korea and Vietnam the small text on the back is hard for anyone to read

The screen is made of cheap glass material.
this is the one thing i can't tell. it's shiny and beautiful, but i'm not sure of the glass quality.
2
The screen is too far from the edge.
(Cloned phones have a wide gap between the edge of the screen and the edge of the phone).
no, no gaps.
3
The screen is not as bright and vibrant as the original device's.
the screen is very bright and beautiful.
4
Some of the sensors are not available.
can't find one of the sensors which isn't working.
5
The Home button is not located in the exact same spot as the one on the genuine item.
the home button seems correctly located
6
The Samsung logos are not smoothed out and can be felt; rubbing it will also remove the logo.
no, they are smooth and under the glass.
7
The device's proportions different than that of the genuine product.
seems like the same dimensions, as it fits properly into my cases.
8
Gaps between parts like the home, power, and volume buttons are obvious.
no gaps at any of these buttons.
9
When the battery cover is opened, some of the small components do not match with the original ones.
Was this step helpful? Yes | No | I need help
can't take the battery cover off the s7 edge.
10
The phone does not have a seal from the National Communications Agency or an equivalent agency in your country.
this is the other thing. i can NOT find this seal. the text on the back is not readable.
11
The battery specifications are not the same.
battery is 3600mAH

of course with samsung everything that seems like it would be that easy, never is. samsung america will NOT comment whatsoever on the g935f, because it is not an american device. they act like they are completely handicapped if you ask them about anything that is NOT carrier specific. It, of course, was the first thing i did. then i tried to call the uk customer support, but the time difference kept screwing that up. and on top of all that, i had to make a decision today, or get stuck. so that is why i was buggin.
however, tonight i drove across town to the bestbuy, and held a few of theirs in my hands while the guys were busy with other customers, and that made me feel a lot better, as several of those also had writing that was hard to see. only on the edge, not the reg s7, which was very clear. then i had the samsung rep look it over, check all the coding and he said it was legit. so i am done. i will keep it, and feel great about it. all day it has performed very well, and all sensors work perfectly. i've done motion sensors, bluetooth, cameras, wifi, etc... it all checked out. so thank you for anyone who commented to this thread. i appreciate the efforts. cheers!

yeah, i've been killing myself to find a white one. definitely a very difficult task, especially if you are NOT willing to pay over a thousand dollars for it. they have them on ebay for
$1,150.00. But i'd settled for a black one before paying that. so i have my very rare white one, and it's all good now. and i actually paid a hundred less than the first one i got. so very happy with the end result.

So the writing on the back is blacked out because of the change from the fCC that doesn't mandate the imei and other info be displayed. So since the phone is blacked out they made it dark so you can see if you look closely but not if you are far away. Phone is made in multiple locations, and honestly only way to be 100% sure is to check hardware which you did. That can't be spoofed easily and takes work. Also, if it's real you should be able to register it on Samsung's website. If you can register it. Chances are your are good.

You can install this APP, tap on the 3 menu lines on the up to the left and tap Refurbishment Check option.
Mine says made in vietnam and the texts in the back are barely noticeable (i got the black variant tho) but im 100% sure my device is legit since i got it from a legit source. Where did you get yours? If its somewhere fishy then you should worry. If its from a trusted source then dont worry at all.

yeah, i installed that app this afternoon, and it says it's all good. except my scs says nordic se. that's the only thing that stuck out. but after seeing all of that, comparing it to other s7 edge devices in a bestbuy tonight, and speaking with their guy, i am satisfied it is all good. runs really fast, and the battery life has lasted all day with very little drain.

Quick question - Has anyone purchased a 6P from any outlet, and can you confirm that the red/pink hue is now gone from the screen? I know this plagued a lot of devices during the first quarter of this year, but I haven't heard anything sense.

I'm wondering if these other retailers (amazon) has the recent stock or if their from an older batch. At least with Swappa I could always ask what the manufacturer date is.
I bought one on Amazon less than a week ago. I don't notice any issue with the screen. Build date is 2016-08-12.

Redmi Note 4 India version

Hi All,
Now that Redmi Note 4 first sale is through yesterday, wanted a thread to share your flash sale experience and if anyone has received thier unit already?
My order initially was Gold 64GB but got errored out at time of payment. Then got 32gb Gold variant , not without connection issues and hiccups. I also was worried if Flipkart will auto cancel the order. They do it many times. But the wait is over. My order has been shipped from blore and Flipkart States it should be delivered on Friday. I hope since it has already left Bangalore today, it should get delivered soon..
Can't wait to get my hands on it...
Kindly share pics if anyone has received thier unit already and of course your first impressions...Am coming from Redmi Note 3 which was a device which made me use my S6 Edge less.. Believe me it did.. and I use it only for taking pictures. And my RN3 is running 7.1.1 with all AOSP goodness and it's magic..Hope I have same experience with RN4..
What's your story??

I am also in same situation as you. Ordered the Dark Grey 64GB version. It has been shipped from B'lore today morning at 2 am.
It says it will be delivered by Friday.
I hope it has similar development scene as in Redmi Note 3. Hopefully this one also gets LineageOS, RR, etc.
Yup
Wow lucky dude..Got the 4gb one..More than the storage it's the ram part that's attractive with the 64gig.
I got it and missed it at the payment screen... Anyways happy at least got the 32gig one..

That's the most important thing..RN3 was more enjoyable after the AOSP and nougat experience..Hope that happens with the RN4 soon. Also it will free up Ram moving away from MIUI.. having said which, MIUI has come a long way and improved by a vast margin helped by new faster devices. Any day better than Samsung TouchWiz crap...
Do share pics once yours arrive. Cheers
Hoping mine also will be here by Thursday or Friday
With so many 625 phones out there am expecting good development .

Unfortunately it is imprinted. Not sure a light nail polish remover type stuff can remove it. Am worried if I use it it might affect the color. It looks really horrible. Donno why it is left at that huge font...I'm sure some daredevil will come up with solution to remove it for sure as it is a real eyesore..

Thanks, was pretty sure it was but it just looks more similar to the Redmi 4's build which is metal but with plastic at the top and bottom unlike the Redmi Note 4. The SD version looks identical to the MTK version except for the antenna lines, which look plastic on the MTK version but metallic on the SD version.

OnePlus 8 Pro Third Party Case Design Flaw

Ordered a OnePlus 8 pro case on eBay last week just until OnePlus launched the official ones. When I got it there was an extra hole under the camera for another lens or a flash. I looked at the picture on eBay and sure enough it shows a flash there that the OnePlus doesn't have. I got to looking at some others and they all have it as well. Looked at one I ordered on Amazon and it has it too so I canceled that. What is with all the cases with an extra hole for that flash that doesn't exist?

Some of us have been reaching out to companies about this. It's undoubtedly OnePlus's fault but hopefully they update the case designs. We have confirmation that Spigen is aware and has/is updating them.
Tudia responded to my inquiry seeming fairly interested and said they would forward to their design team. I think it'll get worked out.

It's not the biggest deal but when all your cases have a random hole or extra large cutout it's kind of annoying.

Same here. I've just ordered a slightly different one which according to the photos is without the extra hole.
Sounds like the case developer's jumped the gun or got some duff info from OP. Love the phone though ?

Looks like the took the OnePlus 7 Pro design and added the new flash and sensor on the left and didn't remove the old flash
