Quick question - Has anyone purchased a 6P from any outlet, and can you confirm that the red/pink hue is now gone from the screen? I know this plagued a lot of devices during the first quarter of this year, but I haven't heard anything sense.
I just got a used one, recent manufacturer date, and don't see any red or pink hue

I'm wondering if these other retailers (amazon) has the recent stock or if their from an older batch. At least with Swappa I could always ask what the manufacturer date is.
I bought one on Amazon less than a week ago. I don't notice any issue with the screen. Build date is 2016-08-12.

Boot to the bootloader and choose the right option from the menu that gives the build date.
I think you have this confused with the Nexus 6..... That device had a pink hue to it at low brightness. I've never seen , heard , experienced, it even read one 6p having this issue

It was a 6P issue as well. I was lucky to not get an affected unit myself.

I'm sort of freaking out of all these issues I see in the forums. I received my nexus 7 last night, and it seemed ok but now I'm reading of all these problems. I'll have to wait until later in the day until I can check.
So while I'm waiting I wonder who has actually gotten a good Nexus 7. If you go by most of these threads you'd think no one.

Mine is defective. It doesn't have any screen separation, light bleed, rattling sounds, or lag. I'm gonna have to return it.
I got two good ones.
Mine is perfectly fine. Bought from GP store. 16GB model. No light bleed, no separation, no squeaks or creaks. Only issue is flicker when light set at 0 when reading in bed in the dark. But this occurred on all my other tabs as well so no biggie. Only flickers if wifi is actively doing something.
I ordered two, one on the 5th and the other on the 17th. The one I ordered on the 5th has the lifted screen issue, but the other N7 is perfect. No other issues on the first N7.
No issues here

Mine is not defective. no screen issues, no creaking, no battery issues, its nice and shiny (for now) and it works. got mine from macmall
Perfect, picked it up 2 days ago, new shipment to Staples.
Got mine from Currys and no defects or issues so far.
Mine is pretty good. im not going to look at any defective threads it might jinx it.
These threads account for like .01% of all the nexus 7's out there. So add another maybe 1% that might have a problem that don't post it on here and that makes 1.01% of thousands of nexi out there with a problem

I don't think that's accurate. I purchased my N7 from Sam's Club on Friday the 13th and didn't notice the screen lifting until today. Just got back from returning it.
People who are saying "no problem here" need to wait a while and then make absolutely sure that their display is flush on the left side.
As for whether or not this is the minority defect you're claiming it to be, right now I'm only listening to those posters who have discovered the problem and used their replacement tablet for a week. Seeing as the device has only been on sale for a week, these people don't exist yet. They're the only ones who know what to look for, and I'll be waiting to see how this develops before re-ordering.
Sorry for not staying on topic, but it bugs me that someone is dismissing my experience as an anomaly and blatantly making up stats to do it.

True, but that doesn't mean that I saw a ghost because someone told me a story. The screen was in fact lifting ever so slightly on the left side. I was concerned that it might get worse over time, so I returned it. Also, I had a single dead pixel near the top of the screen and part of me was looking for a reason.
I agree that most people who do receive a "defective" unit will never notice it, and would not complain if they did, unless it gets worse.
Whew I feel somewhat better

For those who say their device isnt defective . Can you test your digitizer? See if touching the lower part of your screen cancels out each other or if multiple touches causes some points not to register.
Please report back ... there's a know issue with the digitizer not registering on the first batch of N7's from the play store.
Here's the programs to test with :

Here's Nate Swanner speculating that it might be as early as Friday, while the google plus nexus page says weeks. Any thoughts, precedents?
I assume Weeks for the majority of countries.
Friday would be nice. I see it more possible for the US/CA to get stock by Friday, but then again this is all speculation anyway.

I called Google 15min ago and got a about a week, give or take.
I read some rumors that LG reduced it's allocation to Google therefore making them pull out of done markets. Not to mention the rapid sell out.
This is further backed with Tmo selling the N4 for 500 of contract. Given this, it may be likely that LG isn't prioritizing Google since they are likely being payed less, but who knows.
All this in mind, stock may be in and out for a while even though demand may never really reach super high levels the S3 and iPhone see.

Ive recieved RMA today, device is nearly perfect. The only issue is the screen bleed. ive attached one screenie with auto bright and other at max.
Do you guys have the same? Can you post here?

Ouch, that looks horrible. I would have definitely RMA'd that as well myself. Mine is also "nearly perfect" and has two very small areas of backlight bleed but nowhere near as dramatic as yours and I don't think that I'll be RMA-ing mine for that alone.

Pretty much normal for LCD displays, you can always get screen bleed to appear when viewing in the dark and at high/full brightness, it is a limitation of the technology. When you have it on auto or sensible brightness and use the phone normally can you notice it? If the answer is no, don't worry about it.

Phil

I wouldnt be surprised if the RMA was returned because of screen bleed and then they sent it to you and hoped you wouldnt notice. Every RMA is probably an old return since they dont even have new ones to sell.
Did you get the RMA right away or did you have to wait awhile? If it was right away then it must be a faulty return.
It took 5 days. Now that you say this.. Phone had some dirt and had finguerprints tho "i was the first one to open it"

I bought three Nexii on November 27th and all three had screen bleed. I can't see OP's pictures to compare but each phone has a ~1/4" area of bleed with one phone having two. This has only been visible when playing a movie and a black screen is shown at the beginning. I don't notice it at boot up, for instance.
I don't know if this bothers me enough to RMA yet. My thinking is to punt the issue into next year, wait for supply to catch up with demand, and then RMA for a new unit. Two of my Nexii are going to relatives so unless they notice it, I don't think I'll bother RMAing them.
I remember seeing someone mention in a thread that LG can't seal an LCD to save their skins and that person is knowledgeable, in retrospect. The issue looks exactly like some adhesive wasn't applied or pressed down evenly during assembly. I wouldn't be surprised if assembly by hand is the cause of the problem, due to expediency in order to fulfill existing orders.

You cannot seriously believe they do this? They have separate batches for new sales and RMA.
I agree with everything u said. Mine has 3 bleeds 2 on top and one on the top left. Im not going to RMA my N4 though its a non win either way so many people get stuck in a RMA cycle. If your phones are good other than light bleeds ID stick with them. But that's your call good luck with everything.

You have one year for manufacturer defects. Please hold off at least a few more weeks on RMA so people whose devices develop issues that seriously affect functionality can get a replacement quickly.

My guess is that it's common practice. I know I've RMA'd devices to other manufacturers and gotten back "refurbished" devices. I'd be surprised if the refurbish process is any more complicated than booting it and looking for cracks in the glass.
A certain percentage of all electronics will be returned. A subset of those are perfectly functional devices. This is a function of having variable intelligence in the population. Now, rather than spend resources to determine which exactly of those returns are actually pristine devices that the mouthbreathers couldn't decipher, if the percentage in a sample is high enough, the company might well choose to mail out any that aren't obviously damaged and take the chance that the device will satisfy the customer. If it doesn't, they can always mail another.
Hiring a worker to mail things is a lot cheaper than hiring and training a worker to diagnose complex devices. It's also much slower, which means more labor costs. Even if they have to mail a device twice, it still comes out cheaper and faster than diagnosing every single return.
Hi guys
I'm considering making a switch from HTC One to S4. I just a have a few quick questions:
1. I'll be buying the I9500 version; will it support LTE in Canada and HSDPA/3G in Spain?
2. Are there any "issues" in S4 that a lot of people are being affected by? Such as the "purple tint" issue in HTC One. (Which is why I'm considering tossing my One.)
Thanks for your help guys!
1. I9500 is only 3G. Buy the international i9505 for LTE Support.
2. If you are talking about hardware problem. AFAIK only the battery swelling issue. Which is highly resolvable by claiming it to your warranty.
Note: I too came from HTC One but gave it up because of the purple tinting issue. As much as I don't want to leave my One because of its beautiful design.. I just can't stand the purple tinting issue..

The camera sensor has a hardware problem that generates huge amounts of red and blue noise (makes it purple) in low light situations. It gets worse with time and can only be fixed by changing the sensor. It affects about 85% of Ones shipped to date according to a large poll here on xda. Mine is one of those...
The S4 camera is very good from what I know although it seems like a similar purple issue is showing up on the note 3

Thanks for your reply. I absolutely don't wanna sell my One, but I'm kinda being forced to. I bought it from the US and HTC won't honour the warranty in India
And regarding the S4, only I9500 is available in India, so that puts me in a fix, again.

If you could live with the purple tinting issue. I suggest you keep your One. Then just bring along a point and shoot camera. Then maybe wait next year to buy a new phone. We both share the sentiments, if not because of that purple tint issue, I would have not given up my one. Because here in our country, there are less people who use HTC. I tend to use something that is not common but like I said I can't stand the purple tint issue. And samsung is what comes in my option next to HTC.

If camera is your concern then the i9500 has slightly better camera than i9505 ... i have the i9500 and i m a bit disappointed about it's development and no HMP after all but it's a solid device ... i don't know how now performs compared to the i9505 but when i bought it with the first firmware versions the i9500 performed slightly better in real life scenarios not bechmarks ...
Also if you re fine with stock then the only thing you ll miss is opengl 3.0 support nothing else ...
But keep in mind ... the s4 overheats more than the one ... either version
I have both the phones and love the htc one overall. Not saying s4 is bad but HTC one is 100 and s4 is like 95 to me.

We'll if only i knew about this Knox Warranty crap about Samsung beforehand. I would have kept my HTC One x_x oh well. The reason why I came back to android after using an iPhone for a year was freedom. This would probably be my last Samsung device. Look at the video to see how horrible the reflection is. There's no way a Google update will fix this. I know why they told.you to wait, so that by the time an " update" comes out, the phone will be outside of the return period.

Poor design, camera looks pretty far back from glass panel and you get a reflection off the lens on the glass. Maybe an anti-reflective coating would of been useful.
I guess I'll be returning it. It's unacceptable for a phone I spent 950 to have.

It's definitely a weird issue indeed. I literally try to force this to happen every time I read about it and have not been able to yet. Not saying it doesn't exist though, just that I've never seen it. I've had the phone for a couple weeks now.
A software update can help fix this. I haven't had the issue myself. But I had an old point and shoot that had this issue and a firmware update corrected the issue.
