Returning S5 to Stock Rom - LineageOS News & Discussion

Hi
I need to return my S5 to stock firmware so that I can return it to the people I bought it from. I'm looking for the unbranded stock firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus SM-G901F for the UK.
On sammobile, the only UK firmware is for EE:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/...plus/SM-G901F/
Does anyone know which one I should go for?

Don't think it will make much of a difference, but you might as well just grab the latest one, even though it is over a year old. It is probably what would be on the phone if you had done an OTA update. I would be more concerned if you accidentally tripped Knox along the way and the people you are returning it to care about such things. There is no way to un-do that, short of replacing the board, but it also may not matter. Good Luck.

Thanks for this but the links are dead in your first link and the second doesn't seem to link to any roms (unless I'm doing it wrong)

[Q] Is this a T-mobile Note 3 or not?

I really can't find the answer here or anywhere. (i've been searching all morning)
I've been reading allot about it but know is me question.
Is my note 3 Branded or not and can i just install stock 4.4.2 and then flash X-note or any other custom firmware?
Device Information:
Model

Baseband:

Now according do this it is just a normal Note 3. I have another carrier in it with LTE working and everything is working.
BUT When i boot the phone there is a t-mobile boot animation. (thats all i can find of t-mobile in and on the phone)
I know T-mobile does this with all there phones and my last Note 2 had this to and i could just Root and Flash all i wanted like it was a normal version. Now can i also do that with this Note 3. And how can i know the difference between a T-mobile Note 3 and a International One.

Its probably only the T-Mobile bootanimation which is added. Should be fine to root it and flash custom roms on it if you want. Search in the T-Mobile thread for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-tmobile to be sure.
Open PlayStore Search For An App With Name Of Phone INFO *Samsung* You Will Get All The Answers.

Just to make sure bro, thought initialy you might have a US T-Mobile device Dutch T-Mobile devices are not branded, you can also flash a PHN (unbranded) rom from www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/. This will not trip the KNOX void warranty.

I probably thought already so, but i didn't know what changed and didn't wanted to brick it from the start. And i really want to do custom so the KNOX warranty can kiss my ass. I never bricked a device by being careful and can change the hardware myself. And if i really need the warranty i buy a new phone. i switch every half year or so i never use that.
Thanks for the input i'm gonna have a happy time flashing

[Q] Switching models need help

So tomorrow I will be probably going from the n900a to the n900. One issue I'm having is how the n900 and n9005 are halfway mixed together on here, and I don't know which roms and kernels I can safely use. On top of that I don't know what to expect when running it on AT&T (other than a lack of LTE). I go on sammobile and don't know which stock rom I'll need in case of an emergency.
So if anyone could help with guiding me through all of this, I'd appreciate it. I'm 99.99% sure that LTE is out the window. I just want to know what I can do on here. Usually these forums are cut and dry as far as models getting their own section, but international is so different.

After you get your phone simply go into settings then go to "about",
there you will see the exact model number of your phone.
Once you have that then go to sammobile.com and download
the odin flashable stock official rom for your phone's model.
When looking for a custom rom to flash make sure that it's
compatible with the model number of your phone.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, but when I go on sammobile there are so many different stock roms from so many countries. None of which are mine. So I don't know if it matters which one I choose. The n900a just had one.
And it really makes it more difficult, for me anyway, when they make n900 and n9005 share a section. I know that n900 has a separate "android development" section, but everything else is combined, and it only serves to confuse.

Question about triangle away and Knox.

Hey guys. I was really confident that when I will sell my S4 LTE I'd reset the counter by triangle away and flash stock ROM, but after reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45666586 I'm kinda worried. :/

Only to reset the flash counter. S4 had it on Android 4.2 bootloader which didn't have KNOX, starting from the KNOX bootloader (4.3) the flash counter isn't inside anymore

The Knox flag being tripped doesn't affect sale value. People looking for a device with Knox are probably purchasing the S5 or S6 at this moment. The more important question is whether the phone is carrier unlocked or not, because a carrier unlocked S4 carries a premium over one still tied to the carrier. Case in point is my S4. I purchased it off Swappa with the Knox flag tripped. Compared to the value of other S4 devices being sold on Swappa at the time, the value wasn't hurt at all. In fact, its being unlocked made it more valuable than most of the other phones, so the seller made out well.
If you need to sell it, just sell it. The average person doesn't give a damn about Knox anyway.

My country is Pakistan and there's no firmware for it, I bought this phone on AUS YES OPTUS OPS and signals were fine. Better than all the phones(due to hardware)... I mean how do I track it? I bought this black edition without black edition ROM? Any way I could get it back? :'(

Since you know the device was originally running Australian firmware from Optus, you would narrow down your search using those parameters, not the country you live in. That would get you the correct ROM.

Sent from my GT-I9505
In your case, since you're unlocked you can install firmware from any region. I usually don't recommend branded firmware on an unlocked device simply because most branded firmware includes bloatware you cannot use. So in your case, I would look for an unbranded Australian firmware and use that instead of the Optus firmware. As to what will happen if you flash the wrong region, very little. It does however depend on what modifications the carrier made to the firmware.

Hi,
There's no black edition ROM for Australia... So it is sure that my phone was altered what now? Should I flash any black edition?
Sent from my GT-I9505
The thing to keep in mind that other than the addition of a set of exclusive wallpapers and ringtones, ROMs for the black edition and regular devices are identical. For example, my I9505 is not a black edition device, yet I can take the British black edition ROM (CSC BTU) and install it without trouble. So it is up to you if you want to do it. Like I said, you're not limited in the ROMs you can use.

In all honesty, I'd load Odin on your PC and the flash the Official Samsung Rom from Sammoble. Touchwiz is pretty good these days and has been fast on my T715 for the last 2 years. If you intend to use this tab without LTE, remember to turn on Airplane mode and then wifi. If you don't it may drain the battery looking for a signal etc.

You don't need to get the tablet unlocked and any firmware you download from Sammobile and install using Odin doesn't affect your warranty.
When looking on Sammobile, just look for the latest firmware that's UK or failing that, O2. The UK firmware contains less bloat of course. Once flashed, just use Nova laucher or Google Now Laucher to get that stock feel. :victory:

You need to make a decision on whether you are prepared to possibly void your warranty. Flashing anything custom trips KNOX and can potentially void the warranty.

I am completely fine with that, It is a second hand unit any way so is probably out of warranty any way. I have flashed plenty before but never samsung, so never had to deal with odin and knox, also with there being loads of different model numbers it is a bit confusing which roms can go on which tabs.

stock firmware for Samsung Galaxy s7 G930V

I rooted my phone a while ago and have now screwed something up on it. It keeps saying ISM service unavailable...every 2 seconds no matter what I try. If you have a fix for that, that's great and I'd love to hear it. However, I am just looking for stock firmware for my Galaxy S7 G930V VRU4CRE5 to fix the problem. I can't find it anyway...I'm also aware that I'm no expert on this stuff so if any other stock firmware, or heck even a custom ROM at this point, works for my version that you can suggest, well then any help is welcome! thank you.

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device and variants.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3341138
Also, you can always obtain the specific firmware your looking for from one of the following links.
