Overclocking question. - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Read somewhere that suggested the op6 doesn't have overclocking. Which obviously means that op6t would not be overclockable as well. It referenced that aroma installer for elemental kernel didn't work. Is that to say that clocks can't be adjusted in kernel at all? I'm used to overclocking at least something and have in the past via changing source. It's been a while tho.

[Q] Does new kernel include undervolting and conservative power?

Hi there, quick question...
Do the newest kernels also include undervolting and conservative power setting? (and overclocking, but I don't understand why people even want that)
With newest kernels, I mean the kernels from http://oe.netripper.com/files/htcleo_autobuild/
Or should I use the kernel attached in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746997#
All this is answered in android development. Check ur builds thread. It will telk u which kernwl is being used and what is enabled. Im using shrubcrafts build. The included kernel has overclocking undervolting inckuded.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
ok maybe I wasn't clear (blame it on the dutch! ;-)
Of course I know which kernel I'm using at the moment, indeed it's mentioned in the thread of the build.
However, I can't find any info on the activated options in the newest kernel (for example the kernel of the 24th august).
As far as I understand, someone started adding/changing some lines in some file and recomplied the kernel to have other options activated. I'm not sure, and want to know if recent autobuilds do have those options by default.
Please correct me if I'm wrong!

[Q] any builds with perflock disabled?

are there any builds available with the perflock already dsiabled, so i can use setcpu? also, how do you replace the kernel of a build?
What kernel are you using? There are kernels where perflock is disabled. It as nothing to do with your build. Get this kernel here.
There are instructions how to change your kernel. And take the one with the old cam if you don't want to fix this too.
Edit: Forgot to say that you should take 8.2 UVOC if you want to overclock. The 8.5 does not have this feature.

[PETITION] m9+ Kernel Source Code already been posted.

Yes, it's already out since a week or so.
I'm working on my kernel since then.
@xiaolongzi Do you have experience with tweaking MTK kernels? Are you planning on your own custom kernel?

i've started to look at the sources, MTK has a strange method of adding their part to a kernel tree Instead of using the normal parts of the directory structure, I found most drivers in /drivers/misc/mediatek/
Even the Machine part with its MTK specific frequency and voltage setting is there. The part where voltage and freqs are tweaked is not easy to follow but that's where freq tweaking could be done... https://github.com/tbalden/android_...ers/misc/mediatek/mach/mt6795/mt_cpufreq_64.c

Elemental x versus vegito kernel

Hi All,
On rooted stock, which would be the best best between Elemental X and Vegito Kernel. Also, is there another kernel which I could use which is as good as these?
Or rather, should I use any kernel at all? Now with the current Nougat OS becoming old slowly with the arrival of O, is there a solution wherein I can just root my device which is on Nougat without flashing a custom kernel?

Rooting stock nougat needs a custom kernel as for now.
Nobody knows what you're doing with your mobile so nobody can recommend you to the right kernel.
If you happy with your current setup, don't change anything. It's very subjective without testing on YOUR device/setup.
Don't mess with Android P. It's in beta and there will be enough changes when it will(hopefully) the g4plus.
For me ElementalX does the job that I need - root, lower the idle BigCPU count to 1, and change the max RGB values to 240,240,240 (fix my screen retention problem).
Is not too much else that is needed for the stock ROM.

I searched up and down the CPU settings in EX Kernel Manager but I didn't found such Option. Could you show me, where to find it? Thanks

you need to enable permissive SElinux on stock to use this

Thanks a lot. Done so and now it works.
Elemental X is better with performance and battery usage!

What EX Kernel version are you using?
If you're on v1.04 or v2.0.1, you can set the minimum number of big CPUs in EX Kernel Manager. By default, 2 big CPUs are sleeping but can come online for heavy tasks (so 2 min, 4 max). Or are you finding the 2 big cores that are sleeping are not waking up?
If you're running v2.0, then you can access similar controls with this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75331969&postcount=1679

Best kernel for LOS OnePlus 5?

Best kernel for LOS OnePlus 5?
Battery/Performance
It's not about the Kernel, it's how you set it up.
Try boeffla kernel, very great battery and performance

So far yes.
I'm pretty sure he is waiting for an official Lineage build to act as a base for his Lineage kernel.
With LOS from what I have experienced on my oneplus 5T it depends on the revision... I am running AICP based some on LOS and with firmware 5.1. The simpler kernels seemed to be better performers overall. Alot of old kernel stuff we used to do in low ram slow processor days doesnt make as much of a difference that I could see. Overclocking , meh underclocking I read setting the big cluster or gold cluster to 1958 max helps. not sure I noticed alot of difference. No reason to mess with voltage,
All the ones I tried NONE affected audio volume at all even though most have options for it.
Flash kernel works fine seemed to boot fast, no reboots issues. Same version has worked on the last months of changes , has noop, deadline, cfq, bfq, and maple)
Franken worked fine also, I/O has noop, deadline, cfq, bfq,
EX Flar2's worked also (though the version the app gets you dont see on his download page) has a few more features (i.e. more choices in governors , I/O options)
Madys and singularity booted but had different issues. one had stuttering on the sound the other alot of pauses. Alot of options. Long boot time also compared to above mentioned ones.
Blu_spark didnt boot on my latest nightly. And I used his custom R11 version (newest I saw on his download page on XDA) Really want to try it out but didnt boot. Will play more with that and try again later.

Also, EX kernel manager, KA-Mod reborn, and kernel manager for Franco Kernel all worked on all of them,
KA-Mod lets you rename your device in the app (that you can do elsewhere in the rom also, ) so your phone shows up on bluetooth with a unique custom name.
Franco Kernel Manager has per app profiles, light color shift for night etc, and ALOT of tweaks and even a page to suggest other apps to improve batter life. I paid for Franco and that is what I am sticking with. If you run Franco's kernel it will update and flash it for you
EX kernel manager also will update and flash their kernel.
