[Q] any builds with perflock disabled? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

are there any builds available with the perflock already dsiabled, so i can use setcpu? also, how do you replace the kernel of a build?

What kernel are you using? There are kernels where perflock is disabled. It as nothing to do with your build. Get this kernel here.
There are instructions how to change your kernel. And take the one with the old cam if you don't want to fix this too.
Edit: Forgot to say that you should take 8.2 UVOC if you want to overclock. The 8.5 does not have this feature.

[Q] Does new kernel include undervolting and conservative power?

Hi there, quick question...
Do the newest kernels also include undervolting and conservative power setting? (and overclocking, but I don't understand why people even want that)
With newest kernels, I mean the kernels from http://oe.netripper.com/files/htcleo_autobuild/
Or should I use the kernel attached in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746997#
All this is answered in android development. Check ur builds thread. It will telk u which kernwl is being used and what is enabled. Im using shrubcrafts build. The included kernel has overclocking undervolting inckuded.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
ok maybe I wasn't clear (blame it on the dutch! ;-)
Of course I know which kernel I'm using at the moment, indeed it's mentioned in the thread of the build.
However, I can't find any info on the activated options in the newest kernel (for example the kernel of the 24th august).
As far as I understand, someone started adding/changing some lines in some file and recomplied the kernel to have other options activated. I'm not sure, and want to know if recent autobuilds do have those options by default.
Please correct me if I'm wrong!

[Q] Cyanogenmod 6.1stable: Overclocking? Market?

Hi... sorry to bother you... but i can't figure out those things by myself.
Why the kernel in the stable version isn't overclockable? While in the nightlies it is? should i flash it apart?
Then... i flashed the google apps first, and then the patched market v6... but it's not working... why?

You sure you can't overclock your CM6.1.0 Stable?, i can overclock mine..
You can always flash the kernel that HCDR.Kernel v4.1 provided somewhere here in this forum section, i think its the same kernel that CM6 is using for all its build starting RC2.
Oh BTW, here's the link for your convinient..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471
No Way! i flashed the kernel that you gently posted, but when i run "set cpu" the max value i can set is 528 :S
The market isn't working neither... Stable sto cazzo! (italian idiom to say it's not stable at all)
It's slower then my previous cyanogen... which was, if i recall, nightly build6!
Anyway... i read a few comments on the main thread of the cyanogenmod... i understood that build 50 is one of the best... do you advice me to flash that nightly, or do you have a better idea?
i am using the Stable build,, i did not flashed the HCDRKernel,, IMO it is incorporated in the CM stable build,, do wipe ur data and install the ROM again.. u should be able to OC... BTW nightly#50 is also a gud one.. u cn giv a try to it too..
I think you need the v5.2 market patch, as the mod doesn't have the latest market version. I suspect you'll need to wipe and reinstall to undo the changes v6 has done to the market.
Just check the CPU speed steps on "Info" in SetCPU app, if you have more steps above the 528 - there is OC kernel.. Mine has max value of 528 too, but t is enough for me, cause it's quite fast.
I made some profiles for battery levels by decreasing priority and it perfectly overclocks CPU if I want.
Also, yesterday flashed market v6 on CM6.1 and it works smooth.
same here... max value i can set is 528...
try another kernel, the 2.6.32.27 oc uv xtra neon fp, didn't work...
godspeed don't work...

? about faux123 latest cfs kernel

[Optional CFS kernel ONLY]
If this is first time you FLASH my kernel or you just recently FLASHED any ROM,
To use my CFS-Tweaks from version xxx, you must FLASH xxx first, then FLASH the latest version.
This is stated by fox in his kernel thread maybe i am being a bit thick headed but i don't wanna mess anything up.I am on cm7 7.0.2 and i wanna flas his latest cfs kernel to test but what i dont understand is this part to use my cfs-tweaks from version xxx you must first flash xxx.what do i have to flash before i flash his latest kernel exactly?Any help is greatly appreciated. And sorry for the dumb question.

Don't worry about it as its obsolete as of now. All of his new CFS kernel now has the BFS like tweak which you had to flash special kernel before and then flash newer kernel on top of it.
With all his updates he puts, out four files. 2 low voltage files and 2 stock volatge files. My,suggestion is to use the low voltage first if that doesnt work use the stock voltage. Backup...duh. Flash cfs lv than flash bfs lv. His instructions are better so follow his.

LV and SV has nothing to do with it as what you just said had nothing to do with what he asked. Before when he didn't have BFS based he only had CFS so he try to make BFS like on top of CFS which was not full BFS. At this point all the CFS based kernel has the BFS like tweak so you don't have to flash the special kernel anymore.
thanks for the input guys..now off to flashing in hopes of better battery life.
im still unclear as to which kernal to use. I am running cm7.0.3 . thnx for ur input.
its my first kernel flsh. I just want to be sure I have the rite one.

[Q] Cm7 & Overclock??

Okay.
I have the latest stable CM7 for the NC.
Which overclock kernel can I use with this, and how do I go about doing it?
I've flashed the dalinger's (sorry if I misspelled that!) OC kernel, both the latest and the 52311, but both result in a blank screen after the "read forever" screen.
What do I do to get this working?
For stable CM7, I believe you need the 4/24 kernel.
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.
From here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925451
* 2.6.29 releases are discontinued and no longer supported. They will remain hosted for those that might need them.
* There are separate builds for CM7 and stock 1.2 Froyo
* 2.6.32 CM7 builds currently do not work with the stable CM7 builds until CM7.1. You need to use CM nightlies until 7.1 is released.
* All 2.6.32 kernels require an updated u-boot from B&N 1.2 Froyo. If your Nook has "Read Forever" or a green Cyanogenmod logo on the screen when you boot then you have the latest version. If it says something else then you need to update.

So you're going to need to grab the 2.6.29 kernels, unless you kick up into a nightly. I've honestly found the 107 nightly to be very stable, with Dal's kernel (at 1100 MHz), and it's been my daily driver on SD. Avoid 106 (it doesn't have SU/root).

I don't want to use a nightly, I'll stick with what I know works. I've got no problem using a lesser kernel or whatever, so thanks!
Edit - 4/24 worked! Thanks again!
You may or may not know this, but also after flashing you still need to go into cm settings then into performance to overclock it or mess with any governors.

[Kernel] 308 Kernel for ICS

Here is something I have been working on and thought I would share.
It is a 3.08 kernel based on DZOs source and modified with some governer settings the way I like them, a bit of tuning of the voltages and cpu freqs, and a lot of cherry picks from different sources.
Sources:
Mine:
https://github.com/PaulMilbank/kernel_huawei.git
Build off the master branch with the u8800_defconfig if you want to compile yourself.
Where I borrowed from:
https://github.com/Blefish/android_kernel_huawei_u8800: Quite a few cherry picks from the ICS_Chocolate source.
https://github.com/virtuous/htc7x30-3.0.git: Mostly KGSL fixes from here.
https://github.com/ezeteze/u8800-kernel: Gave me an idea about how much to undervolt by.
https://github.com/dzo/kernel_huawei: Pulled some old fixes from the .35 ICS source
https://github.com/TomGiordano/kernel_huawei: Pulled some changes from the .35 ICS Source
Mostly these have been cherry picks that I integrated into my kernel and some tuning by me.
Also thanks to fjsferreira for his guide on compiling DZO source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577876
Everything that worked on DZOs kernel should work here and it should also fix a few annoying bugs.
Notes:
First Kernel:
The battery life is largely improved. I easily get 24 hours use and could probably get up to 2 days if I turned wifi off and turned mobile data off when I was not using it.
I have not seen the random text corruption on this kernel. I did see it a few times on the original aurora kernel.
It seems at least as smooth as the original Aurora kernel, maybe a bit smoother.
It should leak slightly less memory and handle kernel events better.
It is not magic though, you may still have the odd reboot and not everything is perfect. It should be at least as good as the original and hopefully a lot better.
Not so much distortion over back speaker.
Added SIO cpu scheduler.
07/10/2012 update kernel#22:
Swap and Zram enabled, need to test.
1.8ghz is back
368mhz minimum clock.
13/10/2012 update kernel #54
Some CAF and Huawei pro wifi code for testing.
Changed readahead (may need to wipe cache, dalvic cache for this, seems to cause some apps to force close without those wipes.)
Couple more KGSL tweaks
Couple of Bluetooth tweaks.
14/10/2012 update kernel #55
Revert most wifi changes, I am still getting wifi sticking on, will likely have another revert here too.
Reduce readahead some more, please wipe cache, dalvic cache and fix permissions when flashing after this change.
fix a line of code I forgot to add
Revert a franco change.
Boost lowmwmory killer values to hold a bit more ram free and kill appps/background processes a little earlier.
SuperStock Kernel
Test kernel for those with issues. Just latest DZO config, latest DZO source fresh from his github, no CAF or Franco changes
Undervolt from 308 Kernel
368mhz minimum, might need to set this to 245 to match DZO kernel
lowmemorykiller updated
swap and zram enabled.
Hopefully this should show where issues are occurring in my other kernel.
If you get a reboot, do the following from a terminal or over adb:
Code:
su
cat /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 > /sdcard/crash.txt
Then post the crash file (if it has anything in it) here.
Get it Here:
07/10/2012 Kernel #22: http://www.mediafire.com/?o5niwi1jb73j2jn
13/10/2012 update #54: http://www.mediafire.com/?ih5iy936irt326i
14/10/2012 update #55: http://www.mediafire.com/?u29faeh4v1l0sfw
SuperStock Kernel: http://www.mediafire.com/?67o0y9kc2956fy1
Works in Aurora and Miui, I tried it in AOKP, but it did not boot so something went wrong there, not sure what yet.
Will update here and on GitHub too as I make more changes.
Cheers
Paul

Please can u explain the changes in more detail? and where is download link?
Sorry, posted instead of hitting the preview button. Everything up now.
Is it possible to provide only the Kernel update?
Can we undervolt even more?
Actually just noticed... since u modified only the kernel, why you post the whole ROM?
Sent from my U8800
firstly, thank you so much!
I just want to request a tuning in camera, cause camera on aurora 4.1a is a little bit slow (it's delay like 0.3s and blurry as hell:crying

I will sort out an anykernel updater soon, but until then I have put it into Aurora 4.1 with all the updates applied and Geno's Miui 2.9.14.

Sorry guys, as it says, will sort out a kernel updater soon, just need a little time. I just already had the roms I had been testing with.

Is this just on my kernel or the original Aurora too? have you tried tap to focus or holding the button down until the square goes green to show it is focussed? Should not be blurry if it is focussed correctly.
Anykernel updater posted.
can you try to compile JB source from code Aurora with this kernel. it might get quite stable now.
Thanks Paul your kernel + init.d tweaks = super silky smooth ui great work mate
Glad it is helping people. What init.d tweaks did you use?
Also I won't be compiling roms from source. I don't have the hardware to do it. Kernels are about my limit.
I get random touches in the right edge of the screen with this kernel. Synaptics digitizer.

Not sure about this, have not changed anything with the synaptics driver. If it worked in DZOs kernel, it should work here.
so if u want to use on aurore i only need to download the file on the first page and your kernel is already there?
Can I use this kernel on Elora ROM?
I was waiting for any kernel!!
Already testing and tearing screen problem gone, WiFi is super fast! You have done really great job!
