T-Mobile bootloader unlock testing - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I don't have my computer with me but someone try this
Fastboot flashing unlock_critical
Or
Fastboot oem unlock_critical
Let me know what happens, I've been playing with a few bin files and it looks like the closest to ours would be the LG ones.
Only reason I'm doing this is because I don't wanna wait 7 days ?

Damn it, I'ma keep trying to find other methods

I have a question. I contacted T-Mobile today and they let me unlock the phone from the Unlock app simply because I said I would be traveling out of US once in awhile. It worked, I then went to developer settings and allowed OEM unlocking and it also worked.....DO I need more than that to be able to unlock the boot loader???????

Your good on tmo end now. Now you have to submit your request via fastboot from OnePlus. Then wait 7ish days for your unlock token from op and after you get that you'll be able to unlock the bootloadr

Shouldn't, just apply for your unlock.bin from OnePlus at this point and wait.

Do you guys thing that the initial backlash people here were giving on the T-Mobile version was a bit excessive? Were people concerned that we wouldn't be able to get root access on these phones?

was able to get my sim unlocked by tmo. then got the unlock code via fastboot. then put it in the oneplus website. now it says waiting 1-2 weeks for unlock token

I really think it was pretty over the top.
It's not like there were no choices.
You could either:
1. Get the phone fast by going to TMobile, and then either wait 40 days to get the unlock (unless you're financing it, in which case...that's how all carriers work, nothing to see here) OR do like what most of us are doing and just tell customer service you travel over seas and they will unlock it as long as you've paid the phone off.
Or
2. Buy it from one plus themselves and not have to deal with it but get the phone much later.
People are so impatient and are used to immediate gratification for everything. This is all just standard stuff.
I ha e the TMobile variant and I am 100% in love with this device as is. I'll probably only play with custom kernels and theming. It's perfect otherwise.

im on the monthly payment plan, and they still did it.

So far I haven't had any luck with the reps. I've only had the device since Tuesday. I was told by a rep before I got the device that they would unlock it after there was just a few days usage of the device on the account. But so far my requests have not been successful.

A forum mod just posted that he got his unlock token sent.

tmobile bootloader locked!

Hey Gang!
I was all set to get started helping to get AOSP ported (working with Untouchab1e) and it seems TMO has locked the bootloader something previously was reserved for att.
Needless to say I'm very upset, and will be returning the device.
There is no way around this right?
Not be surprised, Z, Z1s are also locked.

Very disappointing.
But please, note that it's not sony fault: Sony does not permanently lock the bootloader.
The problem here is the carrier. Sony will unlock your device if the device is sim unlocked, that's the only way to unlock but you need to pay the Unlock Code and have to send to Sony directly.
As you can see in Lollipop, SELinux is actually locking the root acces, so, you need to unlock the bootloader and change the kernel.
If you want to root a locked device running Lollipop, it's currently impossible, so BE AWARE!
P.S. I'm not saying that the Z3 is in Lollipop, but the update is imminent.
HTC does not charged for unlock code, only Sony does this!
All sony phones that will be shipped to a carrier to sell them comes with the "bootloader unlockable=NO", the others that are allowed to unlock bootloader comes directly from Sony, so don't be surprised with this issue, always has benn like that.

Well, if you are talking about SIMLOCK code, you have to purchase it to your carrier. In my country (I don't know others), the law say that if the phone have 2 years and you don't renew contract, the carrier MUST have to unlock your device for FREE. Otherwise, purchase the SIMLOCK code. Sony will refuse to unlock the bootloader if the phone is SIMLOCKED.

Interesting, so if I was able to convince t-mobile to sim unlock I could then send that to sony? how does one do this? link possibly?
I got a suggestion to try selling it on craigslist than paying the difference to get the international version.
Anyone really want one now?
Pay off your phone if you are on EIP, then activate and use your phone at least 45 days (I guess), T-Mobile will unlock your phone free of charge.

ehh....I'm gonna be receiving mine tomorrow in the mail but this might bug me a little. I've rooted/unlocked all my previous phones (galaxy 2-4) and I'm pretty used to being able to do that. I'm hoping that this phone is just so awesome that I won't feel the itch to flash things anymore.

I don't much care about the bootloader, but not being able to root and in turn not being able to use xposed might be cause for a return....if only the nexus 6 was a more reasonable size.

Yeah!! I've followed this tuto: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=746342 for a client, he told me that sending from GT to UK were no problem an he paid the taxes. At the phone arrived from Sony UK, the bootloader was allowed to unlock. You may think that is better to sold the locked phone and pay the difference to get a phone, but my client don't think so and he gave me the chance to probe that SIMLOCK method is actually functional.
Hope it work for you if you wanna try.
(My client's phone was a Xperia Z2 locked by Claro)

Root may still be possible, sit tight.
You can obtain an Unlock Code through Sony choosing Sony Xperia Z3, however the fastboot unlock command is restricted (that would have been TOO easy!).
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock [insert code here]
...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: -0.000s

Anyone can unlock Sprint LG V20 remotly ?

When i pop in my t-mobile sim card, the phone does not recognize it or prompt me for a network code or anything ? anyone know of someone or a service to sim unlock the sprint variant ? Thank you
Bump
I'm also trying to figure this out, as I am not able to even connect to T-Mobiles server to trigger the unlock. All that my unlock app does is just sit there with a spinning wheel and say " connecting to server, please wait " , so if I cannot get passed that than I'm screwed cause it's gotta at least prompt me if I want to unlock permanently or temporary. Darn thing just keeps spinning like I'm blocked from even connecting. Can someone who is rooted check to see if their phone will prompt for an unlock or not? Thanks in advance!

Or sideload the T-Mobile Unlock app and see if it works that way (I doubt this would work but you never know til you try)

If you are rooted, it can detect it and it will stay on the spinning wheel. Only way I got it to work was to restore to stock no root and it worked (It kept giving me a unlock not available until I bought the unlock service from https://www.unlockbase.com/phone-unlocking-service/tmobile-device-unlock-app-official-unlock/ )

is the phone paid off in full? no more monthly obligation? if not that's the reason you can't unlock. it's because you don't own the phone sprint does. NO ONE can get a device unlocked from distributor without full payment fulfillment.

I think you ought to have unlocked before going the U-way. Most unlocker I found utilize the Tmobile unlock app to unlock which is only found on the stock Tmobile firmware. I dunno. Anything is possible. I'm also seeking to unlock mine... I'm outside the US. So I guess I have better chance. Wish there was some free way though.. Goes from $20 to $30 on eBay.. Ain't no cheap unlock these days.

Ok I unlocked 3 T-Mobile s7 edge devices thru unlock base and this is what you have to do
You have to flash the T-Mobile firmware back to your phone thru odin.. Take your sd card out and make sure to click nand erase all while flashing T-Mobile firmware .. You can do this before or after you purchase T-Mobile app unlock.. I did it afterwards
Once you have t mobile firmware on phone use the unlock app to unlock.. Then I flashed the U firmware back but I did NOT do nand erase this time.
My phone is on cricket unlocked and working
Remember to nand erase first or you will get a error on the unlock app because flashing other software such as U screws up the unlock app.. So do a nand erase
You do have to use the unlock app but doing it my way here works perfectly!
Works perfectly.. I done 3 T-Mobile s7 's so far

on the top of the unlock to be able to use the phone in the USA (and we're not offering cleaning service)
which means you won't be able to use in usa
but please contact them about it
I just got unclocked from a seller on ebay. Presently $69.5.. Before unlock my imei was blacklisted. But now imei appears to be clean. Is that how they unlock? Clean imei and then place a call to tmobile for unlock? If there's anyone wanting to unlock, go for esn cleaning 1st (about $20) and call tmobile to unlock your phone and see if they'll do it for free.

[Bounty] Verizon Pixel bootloader unlock

I don't know if this is the correct place, if not, please reallocate accordingly.
As the title suggests, I'm willing to pay $30 dollars for having the verizon bootloader unlocked, hope more users get into the cause.

---------- Post added at 02:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:55 AM ----------
Also the Pixel XL supported

Ah ok, I already have mine unlocked but I would love to have the option to lock and relock at will. Did Ismael charge for the service to unlock? Was it done remotely?
What is involved with unlocking the boot loader?
Smail simply uses teamviewer to remote connect to your computer and uses Flexihub to connect his computer to your phone. I did a factory reset and took out my sim card and skipped connecting wifi. I went straight to develop options and turned on USB debugging and he did the rest. He said turn on wifi and reboot and 5 minutes later i was able to toggle oem unlock. He didn't charge me he said he takes donations but not necessary. I was just as skeptical anyone but he genuinely has figured it out.
I can also confirm that @Kream24 is correct. This method is legit. He didn't charge me either, but I did donate $10 to him.
I've run custom roms on every phone I've owned but this one. Really not missing much without root. Definitely fun to tinker with but, I've been able to pretty much do anything I need to without it. Sure it involves more steps using adb and buying pda net to get around the 15 gig Verizon Hotspot. I do miss viper but, I'm having no problems with my phone.
If I were going to unlock I wouldn't be afraid to use smail's method and I'm kind of paranoid about who touches my stuff.

Just to let you know he asked 30 for me to unlock, i did it yesterday, but it is well worth the 30 bucks! I am so happy to be unlocked again!
just wanted to add that he did mine too. he didnt ask for money but i paid him $30. verizon pixel xl 8.1. he was very nice to me.

Samsung Galaxy A20 SM-A205U (MetroPCS)

So I got this little puppy free today.
What I've noticed so far, outside of having no service...
There is no OEM Unlock in developer options. All tricks to get it to work (moving the date up 8 days) doesn't work because the device won't give the options for software updating to be done manually.
Anybody have any luck getting the 205U OEM Unlocked? Tagging @physwizz on this.
The phone is a middle of the road, but if basic oem unlock can't be done, swapping out for a moto g6.

Not yet. I'm on the same boat. Like the phone but our model a205u doesn't have an unlocked bootloader option. I had a chat with a Samsung rep who informed me no help on bootloader oem unlocking. We have to find an unofficial way.
Anyome tried chimera tool? I checked the website and has the a205u listed under supported devices but didn't indicate bootloader unlock or root. I saw rmm unlock and Knox disabler. Also sw change. Hope someone can help on rooting or device without a cost. I'll pay up to 5 bucks but nothing more just for root when root has been free on all my devices since 2012.

So Sammy isn't even going to direct us as to how to get this puppy unlocked when Metro has never given a **** anyway about bootloader locking? Hmm...
Haven't tried Chimera Tool. Dont have the box or a version that is current enough to use with the model.
@jhjhjhjhjhjh...UPDATE Chimera Tool DOES NOT WORK even though they say it does.

Yeah, your best bet right now is to use the Android Debug Bridge to uninstall system packages without root.
You can achieve a relatively stock android experience and put on whatever launcher you want, which isnt too terrible at the moment.
We're still working on getting a TWRP going anyhow

Oh cool. Btw, what do you mean by "We're still working on getting TWRP going" you mean the Galaxy A20s that can be rooted (excluding the A205U)? Cause you can only get TWRP with an unlocked bootloader right?

That's right. No Way to root , unlock bootloader period. That's y the a205u is so cheap. In the USA no bootloader support. Go Motorola or pixel if you want bootloader unlock support. I sold my a205u for $125.00. Bought the Moto g7 power for $100.00 ..Rooted .. Leave Samsung alone in the USA.

That ain't a deal when Metro is giving them away FREE with Amazon Prime. And yes, you're **** out of luck. But so is every other American carrier branded phone, and the American factory unlock version.

News flash on that model. There is no using ADB as most commands are locked per the Knox system. And if you do manage to delete any packages, that Knox crap makes it damn hard to flash back. Odin isn't exactly a great tool for that model.
Let's set aside the stock android experience - the fact that Sammy INTENTIONALLY LOCKED all their AMERICAN VARIANTS is TERRIBLE. There is no making that better.
That is why a lot of us that got this phone TOOK IT BACK and got one that did have BOOTLOADER UNLOCK.

Hang it up. There will never be a TWRP for this variant or any other carrier variant. This is literally the VZW of Samsung models. There will be zero development for it. Only the international models will see support as a reality.

That is a script. Go into a Samsung store in the US their technicians will NOT unlock the bootloader. If that method was even an option an exploit would have been leaked long ago.

Well I spoke to the guy at the store.. when I have time I will see if it can be done. I told them the truth... that I'm a Developer and need the Bootloader unlocked to use my test keys to install on the device.

Please do, but I'm not holding my breath that Samsung will honor anything. If anything they are going to tell you to get a developer model - their quest to be Apple is going to be their end.
