Settings App keeps crashing/stopping - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

When am accessing Settings -> Utilities -> Quick Launch, the OS is redirecting me to the main Settings page. After a couple of repeated attempts, the app altogether crashes and I get a prompt which says "Settings keeps stopping".
I'm not really sure if this is something which is OS related, or what. Has anyone else also been facing something like this? And how is it supposed to be addressed?

Yes. Google Chrome, Duo, Play Music, Play Movies and TV. Could it be affecting it?

Youtube Loading Smartphone Version on Xoom w/ Solution

So I opened up youtube on my Xoom to find it loading the same App that my Droid uses. I was puzzled for a couple minutes but I went to my apps and uninstalled updates for my youtube app. Then when I went to opened up youtube again the problem was fixed and the beautiful honeycomb version of the youtube app was loading.
For a better look at this issue and the solution I posted a video describing this issue and the solution.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPDgmUZnD0Q
this happened to me too I just uninstalled youtube from the market and now its back to honeycomb version
This happened to me and resolved it the same way you did, but now the problem is that Youtube is showing under the not installed section on the marketplace.
mine was showing up as not installed in market, so i stupidly installed it. I get the phone version now. I just tried uninstalling it and there's no option to. what do i do now?
Uninstall from the Market itself

Forgive me if you already tried this. But go to marketplace, then 'My Apps' and find the youtube app. In the middle panel on the bottom should be a button to click that says 'uninstall updates' , this is also reflected in the above video in the root post of the thread.
If you already tried this, go to the advanced setting panel. go to applications and all apps. When there look for youtube app and try to force close it. If it was running now try to repeat the above step.
Hope this helps

thanks, but it didn't work. I first went to Settings to force close it, but it wasn't running. I cleared cache anyway.
then in market, there is no option to uninstall updates or even uninstall the program.
not sure what's going on.

Enable Youtube and Google Books on your Wifi only Xoom
Do Not Return Your Xoom
If you have had a problem with the missing YouTube and/or Google Books application, here is the fix that works:
1. Connect to WiFi network.
2. Go into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
3. Go to the "All" tab and then scroll down and select "Google Partner Setup."
Clear Data.
Reboot your Xoom. (That is, turn it off and on.)
If this doesn't work, perform a factory reset (Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset) and try the sequence above again.
Good Luck

[Q] Google Play Remote install problems

Since I have updated to 4.2.2 OTA (all Stock) installing Apps using the Google Play website does not seem to really work.
When I click install on play.google.com nothing happens on the phone until I open the Google Play App. Seems like that the service that used to connect to google play regulary does no longer run?
Anyone else seen this?
Related note ... I did the google framework service thing to get it to show the OTA after installing the update my phone did not show up in play.google.com at all until I have installed a random app using the google play app.
Open Play Store and check your auto update settings. Probably you need to enable it.
The autoupdate setting has nothing to do with it; I'm experiensing the same issue, the download starts, but it takes 1 minutes before it starts, even if I have Google Play opened on my phone

It is enabled but not sure how this is related ... I am talking about install / remove didn't test update yet.
OK I have fixed it.
Did Settings -> Apps -> All and Cleared the Data for Google Play and Google Play Services.
Rebooted the phone. Opened Play Store once and now thinks work like as expected.

This is what worked for me:
Go into your device's app manager. Select Google Play app. Click on uninstall updates. This will take it back to the factory setup state. I then had to reboot the device as I initially got a message that Google Play has stopped working when I tried to open the app. After reboot, open Google Play and accept the terms and conditions. This got the install from website issue fixed.

Why are uninstalled apps still shown as Installed on web play store?

Do I have to remove them from the My Apps (All) list? But even after doing so, they still show as Installed on web Play Store, even though I'd already uninstalled them.
Any ideas? It's a small thing, but really annoying lol.

are you sure they are installed?
it will list them but it does not mean they are installed.
if there's an x to the right then it's not installed,it's just a 'reminder' of what you have had on your phone previously.
press the x to have it removed from your list.

I'm referring to the Play store on the browser, not the app.
I've used the app play store to remove the apps from the list of My Apps by pressing the "X", but when I go back to the web play store on my browser, it still says Installed.

Sounds like the information is still stored locally, clear your browser cache.

Uninstalling Google Chrome

I wasnt entirely sure of where exactly i should put this, the dev board would probably be a better choice, but i digress.
Uninstalling the Chrome app through Titanium Backup(and im sure through any other method) causes some apps such as kik messenger and snapchat to be ENTIRELY unusable. They will instantly crash upon opening conversations. I am unsure as to why this happens but i figured it would be useful information for someone else eventually.
EDIT: Doing this also causes battery to go from 100% to 0 in about four hours
Can I ask why uninstall chrome then? Just don't use it or hide it from your app drawer. A lot easier than trying to figure out the issues caused by removing it. It would be the same thing

Well i just didnt want it on my system and i didnt know about the issue beforehand and ive never seen that happen before. Figuring it out actually happened because i thought it was caused by something else after i flashed stock and fixed it.
You need to enable Android/Google WebView (I can't remember the name) in the app settings/play store and go into the developer settings and set the WebView to the new one you enabled. I sadly learned this the hard way like you.

That's weird. Is it greyed out in the play store too or just in settings? If it is try going into Titanium Backup and unfreeze(?) it there. If that doesn't work uninstall it like you did with chrome and download it from the play store.

Huh it was low level frozen on the system, defrost through titanium backup doesn't seem to do anything which now raises the question: how and why is that done?
Gonna try uninstalling it and installing through play again.

Play store said Enable(the button was seemingly unresponsive until i clicked it abt 15 times in a row) clicking it causes a 44mb download then it says install which causes a 44mb download and changes it back to a completely unresponsive enable. switching over to settings now only shows a greyed out uninstall and force stop
You're free to do what you want of course, but ripping one of the central tie points out a Google phone is not what I wold call a good idea. Easy to run a different browser if that's your preference without destroying the integrity of the base software.

Before finding this problem it was unknown to me and im sure several others that chrome was an integral part of the rom.The point of this thread was really to find out what this is and if there is a way around it. its for experimentation purposes as it is honestly incredibly easy to fix, ive done it 4 times.
Not sure why you're having trouble. I uninstalled Chrome with Titanium Backup and after rebooting AOSP WebView was unfrozen and active automatically.

You can try to follow such steps:
Open Task Manager. Find Google Chrome in it.
Click on Chrome and look through the pull-down menu. Verify that all the processes are chosen.
Right-click on Google Chrome and choose the option “End Task”.
Check the “Processes tab" and make sure that there are no leftover processes. If there are any, you need to stop them by right-clicking on them and choosing the option “End task”.
Close Task Manager.
Open a “Run window”. To do this, you need to press “Windows Key+R”.
You need to type here “appwiz.cpl” and press Enter. You’ll open “Program and Features”.
Here, you need to scroll down the list and choose Google Chrome.
Right-click on it and press “Uninstall”.
Also, you can check this link rocketfiles.comto read more options

Disable GApps on stock ROM?

There are some Google apps that I don't use in stock ROM. Can I just disable those apps? I'm asking because on my previous phone, Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime(MM 6.0.1), when I disabled some pre-installed Google apps, the phone would bootloop if rebooted after disabling those apps. Is it the same with this phone too?

I disabled play movies. I find Duo and Google app to be quite useful.
I've also disabled the stock calculator, play music, and the 'device help' moto app.
