Hey everybody,
I recently acquired a Nexus 7 tablet that came with 4.2.1.
I used Wug's NRT to Make a back up, Unlock it and then root it.
Few minutes later it asked me to update to 4.2.2, but silly me didn't think further on the consequences so I updated to 4.2.2.
Now I lost root, adb is offline and I can't use the NRT to install TWRP and restore to my 4.2.1 version.
I've ran NRT a couple times and even reisntalled the drivers to see if I could be able to do the previously mentioned operations by selecting "Any build" on the Root Toolkit but all my attempts have been unsuccessful.
So, my question is... what exactly am I supposed to do to get adb online and then root my device again. I already have the bootloader unlocked.
UPDATE: Well it may have been a driver problem since I'm using Windows 8. I switched to a Windows 7 computer and I was able to do the process flawlessly!
--------------------------
Problem number 2:
My Nexus can connect flawlessly to my home WIFI network, but when I try to connect to my school's public routers it goes on loop saying "Optaining IP..." , "Connecting...", etc.
I have tried switching the options to Static IP and putting in an IP (Say 192.168.1.50) and I can connect to the router, but I have no access to the internet.
This leads me to believe that this is a problem with the Gateway and DNS fields.
For DNS I left it as it was (8.8.8.8) and for Gateway IP I input 192.168.1.254 but I wasn't successful and I still couldn't connect to the internet.
Due to the fact that I was able to connect to the router, I believe it's not a problem with the Nexus' chip, I also think that the router configuration does not need to be edited in any way.
I believe it's the Gateway and IP fields that need to have the correct information, the problem is, that I don't know where/how to obtain that information.
When I checked on my home network and switched to Static IP, I saw how both Gateway IP and DNS were 192.168.1.254.
Maybe if I switch those addresses to that it'll work?
Also, I've been reading around that people have this problem mostly with 4.2.2. Do you guys think rolling to 4.2.1 will fix this problem? I rely on my tablet a lot when I'm on school and It would be a pain to have to go through the tedious process of finding the Gateway and DNS IPs of all the modems around the school.
Thanks.
I have a Sprint galaxy S4
Model:SPH-L720
android Version :4.4.2
Rooted: Yes
Baseband: L720VPUFNG2
Build number: KOT49H.L720PUFNG2
hardware version:L720.08
So first I do see this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256950
however I don't know which one I am should get (if any) I 90% sure my phone is Odex (I checked in system/app and there were files with .odex)
I rooted my phone with this guide
http://androidforums.com/sprint-gal...66-video-root-tutorial-l720t-l720-sprint.html
worked 100% no issues
Now I want to enable hotspot for my phone however I cannot find one for my build NG2
thx
Not 100% sure but I bet this app will work
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
I've been using whatever is built into cyanogenmod
thanks for the reply but sadly that link is broken
however I have tried some apps in the play store

The link is broken? Still works for me
Or try downloading it from here
https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
hey thx
link still shows "We're sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server."
but the new one works
I will test it out
but though heavy forum searching I found this

and it seems to be working
time to download
Hotspot with NG2
Trekky101, did you have success with the Galaxy Tools app? I am not having success with it.
When I click on the Enable Native Hotspot button, the phone reboots.
When I click on the Wifi hotspot settings, that is just taking me to the Sprint phone settings. When I turn on wifi, then it is telling me I need to contact Sprint.
I think I need to enable the wifi hotspot in the regular Wifi Hotspot Settings, but it does not stay on due to the contacting Sprint Customer Service.
It seems the manual says to enable it and then press the Enable Native Hotspot. That series of steps does not seem to work.
My phone is a S4 with the NG2 build.
There is a working hotspot for deodexed ng2. But before you go flashing an entirely different rom, make sure you have busybox installed (search for it on the play store), this could be causing galaxy tools to not work.

Hertz,
I had the same results the first time I tried with the Galaxy Tools, until on the second try I unchecked the "auto reboot" then hit the "enable native hotspot" button, then restarted (rebooted) my S4 manually (power button)..
I had already gone to Settings/Connections/hotspot the first time and configured my SSID name and password, so I just went back to Settings/Connections/Hotspot and turned the Hotspot on, and it worked perfectly...!
Hope this works for you!
PS My S4 is the NG2 build also...

The above thread is closed. Where can I find native hotspot enabler for NG2?
I flashed the T-mobile recovery to my G530T1 and have no problems with the ROM except the WIFI & USB Hotspots not working. I managed to circumvent this with PDANet and Hotspot Shield. No bueno, I'm already tired of not being able to use my stock WIFI Hotspot. The USB one is great for hiding data usage and not counting towards your hotspot data, but unpractical when only usable on one device.
I work for metroPCS and have a stock rooted G530T1 with CWM. How would I go about doing a full ROM backup of this device that could be flashed to other devices. (Like the one I have with the OH9 T-Mobile ROM)

Im looking into this now as well... I believe first step is to gain temp or perm root... Then install a terminal app.. then run some adb shell commands...
http://forums.androidcentral.com/droid-charge-rooting-roms-hacks/84953-how-create-custom-odin-images-backup-restore.html
...like that
If any one knows how to get a temp or perm root... I would be happy to work on compiling a backup firmware... as i will want one myself!
Hello folks,
i have been using moto x play since 5.1.1 and right now i am on 6.0.1 but i am unable to use my wifi tethering,
it is working on cm roms but not on stock roms, any help?
p.s. i have XT1562 (INDIA UNLOCKED DUAL SIM EDITION)
I have this exact same issue.
When I try connecting my laptop to the Hotspot, I can connect successfully but the laptop cannot access the Internet.
I tried to ping google.com servers continously using the -t parameter. I am getting Request Timeout in most cases, a few Destination Host Unreachable.
Have tried to do what is suggested in the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/how-to-unlock-tethering-android-4-4-to-t3227206
But no use.
Any help is appreciated!
