Like the title says... Anybody tried this yet? Carriers and software keep making it harder. Still working?

All,
I am eligible for an upgrade in two days and am thinking of pulling the trigger on the VZW G2, but only if there is a way (w/o paying verizon) to wifi tether (mobile hotspot). I currently have the galaxy nexus and use the "wifi tether" app for tethering (my galaxy nexus is rooted). However, from my research this app and others do not work. Is there a way to wifi tether from the verizon G2?
Thanks
There is a mod listed in the dev area with good directions for installing.

That looks like it should do the trick. Lots of folks posting successful results. Thanks!
I have an AT&T SGS4 and their bloatware makes me sick but their feature that automatically logs you in to AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots is nice. Has anyone got that to work on a Nexus 7?
Would also like to get it to work on s Nexus 5 but that is for another day.
Thanks.

Any suggestions on the free hotspot yet? I would pay for it but only 2 gig a month?! What a joke! I'm assuming still need root for it too. I have Sprint
Does WiFi tether still work? Try that

Any way to share data over Bluetooth on ATT variant?

It is software locked by AT&T. I would like to know if a workaround exists. I just upgraded to an S8 my previous device was not from AT&T. It would do a hotspot just fine on the same plan.
