TWRP recovery for SOL23 (Converted to Z1 6903) - Xperia Z1 General

I am trying to use Oreo ROM on my old Honami SOL23.
I have xzdual recovery installed.
I installed pre-rooted international rom 14.6.A.1.236 and it is fully working.
Now I am trying to upgrade my TWRP.
I used TWRP manager, Rashr(flashed twrp.Img on Fota), dd =if... command in terminal emulator, uninstalled existing XZdual recovery.
Used adb command. all attempts showed success but I am unable to boot into my upgraded TWRP(3.0.2-0-honami)
I only can boot into TWRP(3.0.2-0-honami) temporarily (recovery.Img file is in my Pc) through
Fastboot boot recovery.img command,
Tried installing .Img file with this temporary recovery but error: opening directory warning comes up in red) and recovery is gone when rebooted. I tried several times.
i did a lot of search on Google and xda threads. Some experienced similar problem previously but I found no solution yet. Actually I am curious now about what's wrong with this rather having Oreo ROM. Your help will be much appreciated. Sorry for my bad English

Flashed Linease Oreo (port) through temporary booting into latest TWRP. Problem is solved apparently.
But I don't know whether it is possible to flash latest recovery and stay in my stock ROM at the same time.
Hope XDA tech experts of will remove my confusion . Thank you.

[Q] [Mi2S] Impossible to flash custom recovery on MIUI 5.5.15 Beta

Hi everyone,
I've run out of ideas on this one and other threads couldn't really help me/were closed already.
I tried CM, stock android by Ivan and M1cha as well as some others, but about a month ago, I was curios for MIUI 6 based on Lollipop for my Mi2s and changed from M1cha's CM12 5.0.1.
Now that I've seen that Ivan published his 5.1.1 I wanted to try it out. He also provides us with a modified custom recovery that I wanted to flash.
First, I renamed the file to update.zip and tried to flash it in Mi-Recovery 2.0.1, which didn't work due to the failing signature verification.
Also, choosing update package in the Updater app in MIUI didn't work out, it immediately tells me something went wrong.
Then I thought, why not use fastboot? That worked before.
Not this time. I tried the simple way, meaning just fastboot flash recovery recovery.img: Then, bc it didn't work, I first erased the recovery partition and then flashed the recovery.img, which was still unsuccessful.
Whenever I try to enter recovery mode, my phone just gets stuck showing the MI logo and not doing anything.
I can reenter fastboot mode or simply reboot to the system as usual, except for when no system is installed.
When I gave up on the custom recovery thing, I simply tried to flash the ROM via update.zip methods, as well as via fastboot. None of them worked, either because the signature verification fails (stock recovery) or because the zip file does not contain the android-info.txt and the other txt file.
As mentioned above, upon entering fastboot -w and then flashing the recovery.img, I can suddenly enter recovery mode. This sucks!
TL;DR: No usual method of flashing either custom rom or recovery works (to my knowledge)
Can anyone help me? I know its stupid but I start feeling kind of boxed in on MIUI.
Thanks in advance
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
unfortunately, that didn't work either...

Lost recovery, cant boot, only fastboot

Guys... when i tried to flash oos 3.0 on my op2 through twrp, i first wiped the data to install new rom, then install oos 3.0, it failed. I then flashed the recovery i downloaded from the thread, then restart the recovery
I cant boot into the recovery.
System can't boot
Is it called "brick"?
So i tried to flash stock recovery in pc by command, but it says "remote: device is locked. cannot flash images". any solution to this problem?
I can boot into fastboot mode
You need to run the phone in Qualcomm mode on a PC and run the recovery tool to fix you bootloader.
I did the same and it was a royal ball ache trying to find out how to fix it
Don't do what rosswaa said
Why not?
What you should do is boot your phone into fastboot mode, connect it to your pc. Flash this modified TWRP recovery img to your phone https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995297945. After that you have to flash this modified SuperSU (through the new recovery) https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995297946.
The normal recovery doesn't work in OOS 3.0 (just like in HOS) and it's the SuperSU that gives you the soft brick. A dirty flash of the modified SuperSU should fix it.
I also had your problem and I did what rosswaa said which shouldn't be necessary (I lost all my data and backups).
I didn't lose anything, but I tried doing what you said and my bootloader was screwed so wouldn't take a flashed recovery or anything (yes the modified one)
Wish I hadnt been so excited and just flashed but all sorted now
Hmm okay, if it doesn't work with flashing the new recovery img then do what rosswaa said and after that follow this post https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/installation-instructions-faqs-oxygenos-3-0-0.439108/
Obviously try what green says first, if it works then happy days
first i am really glad that someone give some advices on me. But since i am a noob, how can i flash twrp in fastboot mode? using command? "fastboot flash recovery xxx.img"? thx

Sorry i can't post link

Failed to upgrade; Only fastboot and stock recovery.

---EDIT, FIXED IT ALREADY, MORE INFO BELOW---
Dear members,
A little background; The installation of the latest Oxygen os (zip on storage - > twrp flash) failed.
I thought it was a good idea to wipe everything and reboot to start fresh.
Upon reboot I was unable to enter TWRP, only fastboot was possible.
When I flash twrp (by neither clockworkx or the bluex) the flash is successful but I cant boot into the recovery, also not by directly using fastboot boot recovery.img. When booting into recovery I get a black screen with only a white led.
So I decided to give the stock recovery a try and that one does boot up however I cant flash anything. When I use adb sideload it loads the file fine but then it errors with no error message.
I am getting suspicious that my internal memory is now corrupt so I am willing to give this msmtool a try which I have never touched so I would really appreciate some guidance. Anyone with any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance.
Other things I have tried:
I tried to flash the stock boot.img from the oxygen os using fastboot but it doesnt seem to be the problem.
---FIXED:---
Thanks to the wonderful documentation found at : /oneplus-5/how-to/guide-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3761706
I was able to fix it. If you are in the same pickle head over to his thread and thank him.

Can't flash via TWRP, "failed mount system", twrp sideload not working either.. stuck

Can't flash via TWRP, "failed mount system", twrp sideload not working either.. stuck
I need my phone for work tomorrow so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm on TWRP 3.2.3-1 and was using the latest stock oreo rom from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5...o-twrp-flashable-stock-builds-coming-t3830482
My phone suddenly didn't have a reception today, after rebooting I regained reception but couldn't make calls. I rebooted to recovery and tried to dirty flash the same stock twrp flashable oreo rom that I was using and it failed. Apparently the OS got corrupted. I tried repeatedly to flash the ROM and then noticed I was getting an error : failed to mount system , invalid argument. I couldn't mount system via the Mount tab in TWRP and I couldn't find anything helpful to resolve this error.
I did some more research downloaded the fastboot flashable ROM from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/moto-g5-plus-fastboot-flash-stock-oreo-t3848433 and tried to flash the rom via adb using adb sideload in twrp but twrp doesn't seem to load that function correctly. In the elevated command prompt in the adb directory I type adb sideload filename.zip and it just freezes up my PC. My device does show up with the adb devices command and shows " *Serial Number* RECOVERY ".
I don't understand what to do with the instructions in the fastboot flash stock thread I posted above and I'm at the limit of my knowledge. No idea how to proceed... any help is greatly appreciated.
I tried extracting the xml.zip into the adb folder and rebooted to bootloader/AP Fastboot Flash Mode and was going to try the commands in the fastboot Rom thread but my device only shows up in adb devices when I load twrp. uhhhhgggghhhhhh guess I'll have to buy a backup phone tomorrow while I try to get this one working
Holy hell.... I didn't realize since I was in the fastboot/bootloader I had to use "fastboot devices" command to see the device. Tried that and saw the device listed, so I created a .bat file using the commands in the fastboot roms thread above and I have a functional device again. Whohoooooo!
Did you try to format /System/ as EXT4?

boot loop / stuck after installing TWRP

hi,
this forum provided me with a ton of useful info but i still couldn't manage to root my phone (F5321), let alone implement custom recovery. after flashing TWRP i always end up either with a bootloop or the screen stuck on displaying 'sony' (waited +20min). i tried the following procedure (at first just 1 + 3):
1) flash via flashtool/xperifirm [flashmode, stock 34.4.A.2.118, wipe userdata // wipe everything]
2) fastboot flash boot boot.img [genesis kernel 1.09 // modded img from this thread // patched img with rootkernel]
3) fastboot flash recovery twrp.img [TWRP 3.3.1 // 3.3.2]
4) directly start into TWRP, format data (to get rid of encryption), wipe cache and reboot to system
=> every time: boot loop until sony screen or it gets stuck on the sony screen
=> i can still start into TWRP
=> flashing stock without TWRP works just fine
edit: it even bootloops when starting TWRP via fastboot boot twrp.img (no matter if before or after first start of flashed stock)
edit2: system boot works if i use TWRP in read-only mode ... but then i can't root or do anything fun ...
any ideas what i can try next?

I had a very difficult time rooting my Xperia X Compact (F5321) using the method you describe above. I had exactly the same problem with bootloop and sticking on the Sony screen. My problem was that I did not rename the boot118.img (Modded boot img for 34.4.A.2.118)to boot.img before I flashed it over ADB which resulted in the issues you mentioned. So I'm assuming it's an issue with your boot.img file. Maybe try the original boot118.img?
So I opened up ADB and flashed the renamed boot.img file, followed by Twrp. Then I booted into TWRP recovery (power button + volume down) and installed the supersu (or magisk if you prefer) and drmfix.
Then I rebooted to system and after a few minutes it booted normally into the Xperia homescreen.
Regards,
Dave

does the file name of the boot image matter even if i of course change the command accordingly to "fastboot flash boot boot118.img"? i feel like that can't really be but i'll give it a try anyway, thanks!

nope, that wasn't it either.
i also tried now having the boot118.img patched with magsik but same problem occurs. just can't get it to work and i don't know why.
